"On the Waterfront The waterside neighborhood of Ortaköy is a favorite of locals and tourists looking to spend a lazy afternoon strolling its cobbled streets, playing backgammon over a few glasses of tea, or finding a spotfor a picnic with an overloaded kumpir (baked potato). The Bosphorus Bridge, the first in the world to connect Asia and Europe since Hellenic times, is the ultimate photo backdrop, especially behindthe Ortaköy Mosque when it's lit up at night (try to see the newly restored interior during the day, when light streams through the windows and makes the chandeliers and tiles shine). Traffic can be brutal, especially in summer or around Ramadan, but it’s a pleasant 30-minute walk past old palaces turned hotels inBeşiktaş, where many ferries and buses terminate."
You can take a ferry from this small ferry station to go to other parts of Istanbul, either on the European side or the Asian side.

You will love the place , live like the locals , spend less and enjoy more.
The place is a tourist attraction and still it is one of the cheapest to go to, try the kumpir (baked potatoes with load of stuffings )and a delicious dundurma ( ice cream) and take a walk to the square where the mosque is on your right and the bridge on your left.
A small market for souvenirs and nice cafes .

Ortakoy is one of the "must seen" places in İstanbul. There are some restaurants, coffe and nargile shops across the Bosphorus where you can have nice time. There are also many soveniour shops around that you can purchase some gifts. Ortakoy is also a historical location including some old structures like Ortakoy Mosque, Ottoman bath, some old Churchs and Synagogues.

Ortakoy is located by the Bosphorus and nearby the first bridge. There you can find many food stalls which sell baked potatoes (kumpir) and waffles. There is also a small market with shops selling textiles, accessories and souvenirs. Some coffee shops offer a roof top terrace with a beautiful view over the strait.

Ortaköy is one of the most touristic places in Istanbul and yet one of my favourite places. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the sea coast where you can enjoy your meal or your turkish tea, having an amazing view of the Bosphorus bridge!
The place is usully crowded and full of life.
It is also a proper place for fishing, you can see fisherman everywhere in Ortaköy.
There is a little street bazaar where you can buy jewelleries or other small stuff. Typical about Ortaköy is the turkish Kumpir food which is a must when you go to Istanbul, and the best to eat one is in Ortaköy!
Also there are dessert shops where you can eat especially waffles.
The most typical spot to take pictures is near the ancient mosque of Ortaköy, which is just in the coast of the sea!
