A Local’s Guide to Costa Rica

"I head to the wildest, most diverse place in the country—the Osa Peninsula. I adore its natural richness and eco diversity. It’s also very secluded. It has the minimum number of hotels, few visitors, and little human impact, which is super-important to me."

World class fishing experience at Crocodile Bay resort. Treated me very well, last minute decision to celebrate my birthday! Caught many species of fish and the resort prepared several dishes from my catch!

I can firmly say that it is the best area of Costa Rica, not yet very developed touristically but enough to have amenities, I was missing this part of Costa Rica that has stolen my breath, the top of the area: Rincon of San Jocesito. From the bottom of my heart I recommend this area and I hope you can fall in love too

The Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica is an area of many wildlife reserves and parks. It has an untamed natural beauty that cannot be described. There are the beaches of tan sand or rounded pebbles. Some have volcanic rocks with fantastic shapes. There are many spots to swim, surf, or kayak. You can horseback ride or hike along the beach or just within the trees. There are trails that move up into the hills. Some follow the tropical rivers and streams. You may come upon a crocodile happily sunning himself along a bank, or a waterfall pool in which you can swim and cool off from the tropical heat.

So good we are going back to purchase a home for retirement. It's a must go and find out for yourself. No words can describe the landscape and ocean.

Please do not come here! We asked if there was room and there was if we shared a table. A few minutes later another couple appears. He indicates to this couple that there is room for half an hour. We sit down, order some food and when the food is served we are told to leave within 5 min. He brought the bill and pointed to the people waiting for our table. In a very nice way we spoke to him, to indicate that it is not nice eating this way. Then he turns into an even bigger jerk and accuses us as liars. In addition, the food is not that good. It is very dry, tough and there is little flavored to the dishes. Santa Teresa has many more nice places with a better atmosphere, better price and nicer staff.

MARENCO is simply the best. Rainforest and all hou i.agine it to be. The adventure starts in just getting there. Corcovado and Cano are a must and if you're really adventurous ask about the hike to the huge kapok tree center osa that all Scarlett Macaws roost in at night!
