Osatsu Ama Hut "Ozego-san"

Interesting experience dining by the water with freshly caught seafood that’s grilled to order. • Book ahead on their website, didn’t get a confirmation but I called ahead to ensure they got my reservation. • The hut is a short 200m walk from the parking with a lovely view. Can get quite warm in the afternoon on a clear day. • Fixed set meal per person that comes with a variety of seafood like turban shell, scallops, fish, seasoned rice and mochi. You can opt to top up abalone, spiny lobster based on seasonal prices. They will confirm with you the price before proceeding to cook. When we visited in Nov 2025 abalone and lobster was around ¥3~4,000 per piece. • There’s a makeshift toilet on site but not the cleanest as expected. Lots of houseflies as well. • Baby-friendly-ish: no baby seats but they were accommodating with our baby, managed to dine with baby sitting on our lap. • We don’t speak Japanese so there was a language barrier, but the Amas were very kind and welcoming. They were also explaining the process to the other Japanese-speaking diners. • Payment via card or credit card. Let them know ahead of time if paying with credit card.

Definitely a really special experience having seafood caught fresh by ama divers! We also enjoyed the view. It's definitely a very authentic experience - as long as you are prepared it should be a great one! My favorite was the scallops but of course you are limited to whatever is caught!

Amas were absolutely cheerful and welcoming, the fish was fresh and cooked deliciously before our eyes, all accompanied by some refreshing tea. It was a very hot August day, but there were fans in the hut to alleviate a bit the situation. Overall it was a great experience, although it is to be noted that knowing Japanese is almost required to have a conversation.

We did not eat here, as we had a booking in the main hut. Took a nice walk here, beautiful scenery. The ladies were very friendly and ready to pose for pics if they were not busy. So interesting their heritage and custom.

A must-do when visiting the area. The “Ozego-san” hut was deeper along the path but well worth the extra 5 min walk. The Ama divers were amazingly courteous and wonderful, their smiles really brightened up our day. We booked a 130pm lunch and we were the only ones there, making this experience even better. The Ise lobster and abalone were so fresh! No regrets in adding them to our lunch time menu. The ladies took the effort to interact with our kids, making them feel at ease and every one of them had a blast.

It was worth driving 2.5hr south to Toba. Can't wait to try the lunch prepared by the women divers inside their hut. BBQ seafood is yummy. Friendly ladies.

Very rustic place. When I arrived was late

The Sea girls are nice, happy and very kind. Seafoods are really fresh and delicious. Especially lobster and abalone, really good. Will come again 😊😘😍
