My visit last summer was fine. There was no indoor dining at that time; you just walked up to the window and ordered and sat outside. I left a 4-star review for that visit.
Fast-forward to my latest visit, in early July. My husband and I showed up around 7 for dinner. We drove up and saw an upper patio area and wanted to sit there. The host told us it was full and that we could sit on the lower patio and order everything at the bar. We walked down there, and it was completely full. We went back to the host and said we would sit inside. He took us to a table that was right next to the door to the upper patio. We could see empty tables outside, so I asked what was up; he already told us it was full yet there were tables available. He said he didn't know why but he was told not to seat anyone else out there. Just then, I overheard who was apparently supposed to be our server *loudly and sarcastically* say "Well *I* just got quadruple seated!" in a very annoyed tone. Needless to say, that comment was extremely off-putting, as he was clearly not happy that he had a few new tables at once. He did not want to wait on us, and the restaurant did not want us taking an outdoor table. At that point we got up and left. There was no way we were going to stay under those circumstances. We ended up going to La Mariposa and had excellent, friendly service.
I wasn't even going to update my review on Yelp. HOWEVER, I sent a message (via their website under the "contact" section) a couple days later, asking for some clarification on the seating issue and mentioning the unprofessional behavior of our would-be server, and NO ONE ever responded. Terrible customer service. Never again.
