Oskar - Das Wirtshaus am Markt

Came in from the street tired, were seated instantly even though the place was quite busy. Ordered a glass of local beer for my wife and Meisel for myself. Drinks arrived fast, the waitress spoke good English. Had a braised pork with a dumpling and sauerkraut, and Wiena schnitzel with salad and potato. Food was delicious, service - excellent and quick. Strongly recommended! 5 out of 5.

A great restaurant in the pedestrian area in the middle of Bayreuth’s old town. They have beautiful indoor dining areas and terrace seating on the street. They serve mainly traditional Bavarian dishes but we ordered chicken schnitzel and mackerel salad. Both of the were delicious and the foods came fast. The service was friendly but they seem a bit understaffed. On a Saturday afternoon, there was almost no available tables left but we could luckily find one table on the terrace. Reservation recommended.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! Why? Because I loved everything from the seating arrangement (the gap between the dining table and me was perfect), and the food was excellent!! The servers were very polite and friendly people. 😄 The ambience is charming and classy. We had Schäufele and Schweinebraten in Biersöße. Then we saw our server carrying a jar full of strawberry 🍓 juice and talked to him. He said it’s in-house fermented strawberry brew (alcohol free). It was slightly sour and yeasty but also sweet. If you’re in the area looking for a romantic lunch/dinner or a family outing even this is the place for you! 🫶🏻 I’ll definitely visit Oskar again. Once again this is one of the best German restaurants in Bavaria!! 👍🏼

Amazing place in central Bayreuth. Staff is very friendly, speak English, and advices you on local food and beers. Everything seemed fresh, and tasted amazing. I tried so many dishes, I couldn't stop. Prices are really competitive considering how good the food is. It's gonna be my go to place from now on in the region. Congratulations guys keep up the good work!

We had 4 of the classic dishes at Oskar.. what a great experience!! Perfect introduction to the Bavarian food!! The portions were maybe a little big, but this is never a negative thing ;) food came fast and was very tasty! English menu and the waiter spoke English.

We had a walkin table, great staff, friendly greeting and waiting area. We got seated, mind u we had a toddler n baby, with us. Staff were very friendly. We got service promptly, and our orders were available relatively quickly 10min maybe. Food was delicious hot. The staff gave some drawing items to our daughter. We also had a accident of drink dillage, which the staff were very helpful and understanding, helped us clean up promptly. 10/10

Update: went again today on a Sunday. We didn't have a reservation but were seated without delay, even though our group was 7 people. The food and service were great. We were surprised to see REALLY good alkoholfrei beers on the menu as well which were great. This place is still a must see when in Bayreuth. Was worried I'd need a reservation but had no wait for a table of 6 on a Saturday afternoon. Big tables, very chill atmosphere. They had a place to park my stroller and menus in English which saved time. The bathrooms are super nice and clean. The food was VERY good and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

One of the best German-food restaurants that I’ve tried so far in Germany. The portions are just right, prices are good, ambience is nice. The food was delicious and I didn’t feel too heavy after the meal. It was very busy when I went on a Monday, so I recommend having a reservation before going. I’m skeptical of google ratings in Germany since they always skew upwards, but Oskar’s high rating is well deserved. They also have English menus, which is a plus!

Very nice restaurant in the heart of Bayreuth. We went there as a party of 6 around 9:45 PM, so kind of late. The kitchen was only open for another 15 Minutes, but we got our amazing food in about 10 minutes! I had the ragout, some had the Cheese Spätzle - both were amazing, we also had some wine, which was slightly expensive, but still affordable. The food not only had a very high quality, but the quantity was a big plus as well, everyone went home completely stuffed from their meal. Very nice atmosphere as well, the waiters walk around in traditional Bavarian clothes, are very ambitious and friendly. There were many people there, but we never had to wait longer than a couple of minutes to order something! TLDR: All in all a very nice visit, I would recommend it to everyone in or around Bayreuth for some classic, delicious bavarian food!

The food was delicious. The beer was devine. They were very patient with non-German speakers. Loved it.

Spaetzle and other Bavarian food, carefully prepared and served in pleasant interior garden. If you are in a hurry, this is not the place for you, especially at lunchtime.

This place is amazing!! Spectacular food and amazing service!! They have English menus available and a very courteous waitstaff!!! You're going to love this place I know we did!!

This place has a big Maisel's sign outside - was a homing beacon. This is my second favorite German beer so we had to make a stop. We ended up having a very late dinner here. If you have travelled abroad, you know you have to get the non-English menu to see all the local specials. Was fun to order a meal and be surprised when they bring it out. Highlight of the meal was the specialty beer. Maisel's is made in Bayreuth. However they have a specialty brew - some guy named Jeff and he made a great Bavarian brew that moves into my number 2 slot ahead of the regular Maisel's. Was told it is only available in this local area, was glad to have tried it. They do close the kitchen around 10.30p, so we could not even order any dessert. That aside, food was tasty and service was excellent.

Great place to grab a drink, order something to eat & relax after suffering for hours in those the narrow wooden & un-upholstered chairs at the opera house. It is situated on a beautiful street and a pretty large size restaurant with outdoor seating options. Serving typical Frankonian food. Large portion with friendly service.

Awesome food! Great staff!! It's nearby all tourist attractions and flies are at minimal. When you eat outside under their shady dining area. I can't say enough good things about this place so I'm now just filling in jargon because Yelp won't let me post unless I type up a book?? Lol!

Not bad restaurant. When we were there, it was pretty full of people, but service was ok. They had normal homemade lemonade which was really sweet to me. Beer, coffee and wine was ok. They have also vegetarian and gluten-free options for food as baked potatoes with spinach and fresh salad.

Had a very good late lunch here - a group of four, we agreed the people who ordered the wirthaussalat and käsespatzle were the big winners. Staff were very friendly and attentive. This place probably won't win any prizes for originality, but it's got a solid menu of good food and good beer.

Delicious! The wirsthaussupp'n is an incredibly delicious intensely flavored beef broth soup, and my high recommendation.
