The 22 Best Things to Do in Oslo in 2025

"I appreciated that City Hall is free to enter and surprisingly informative, with about 20 murals and works of art covering themes from traditional Norwegian life to the Nazi occupation and information about the Nobel Peace Prize awarded there each year." - Matthew Kepnes

Open to public, magnificent building, backing to the harbor/pier, a small garden on the side. Worth a visit and spending some time in and out of the building. In a walking distance to the Castle.

what a pleasant surprise! Oslo Rådhus can be visited, and this is quite impressive. From the outside and the inside, it offers an original and unique architecture. The visit allows you to discovers exceptional interiors with quite astonishing frescoes of impressive dimensions. Several official gifts are also exposed that are worth seeing. Great visit!

Very impressive building. The frescos on the walls are nice to look at. The walls are extremely high. Entry is free, visitors just need to go through the metal detectors and get their belongings scanned before entering. Lockers can be found in the basement if needed. Additionally to the big hall, where the noble price ceremony is happening, some smaller rooms can be visited after walking up the stairs. There is a small exhibition of gifts displayed too. Worth a short trip!

Impressive building, happened to be the 75th anniversary when we visited. Not a ton to see since there was some government meeting in action upstairs. The murals inside and the floor itself are beautiful. Even if you can't make it inside (free entrance, by the way), the architecture and fountain out front are impressive enough to rate 5 stars. Don't miss the art under the covered walks along the courtyard sides, with placards telling the story of the art relating to Norwegian/Scandinavian folklore.

Oslo City Hall is such a unique and elegant building. Its red brick architecture stands out with a strong and distinctive style, making it one of the city’s landmarks. The design is both modern and monumental, yet it has an artistic elegance that reflects Norwegian culture and history. A truly impressive place to visit in Oslo

Interesting place to visit, free of charge, however due to private event, not everything was available. White marble covering is impressive.

The city hall entrance is lined with wooden 3D wall Sculptures that tell stories of Norway. Inside the city hall, we enjoyed a free comprehensive tour by OSCAR who explained the beautiful Murals that give the historical moments in Norways history from women wanting to vote thru the resistance and more. The second floor is often closed for weddings, sometimes up to 20 per day. The first floor offers adequate history, art, and politics! Arrive early for a shorter line See photos of the Nobel Peace Prize awards, the only award given in Norway. The other Nobel prizes are given out in Sweden, all per wishes of Albert Nobel

Artistic building with a beautiful inner hall with impressive paintings depicting various Norwegian stories. The hall interestingly is used to host Nobel Peace awards.
