A much bigger train station than I initially expected! Coming into Oslo you can take the airport train into the city and it brings you into the station, so naturally, you get here and get out because you want to get to your destination, but I found myself back here a time or two and realized there is much, much more here than I initially anticipated.
First- someone told me that it is a little difficult to understand where the trains where, which I thought was not true. I knew within seconds which track my train was on and found everything with ease. Everything is easily labeled and the staff is very helpful if you have any questions.
If you need to use the bathroom you may be out of luck as it costs 20 Kroner to use the restroom- no way around it, unless you go to the Radisson Blu next door like I did- I was not paying to pee, sorry.
From the back end, there is an enormous mall that I had no idea about until I stumbled upon it looking for the baggage hold. Tons of shops and places to go whether you're trying to kill time, or your budget.
The luggage hold is amazing. You can rent lockers to hold your luggage for you (as long as at some point you return to Oslo). Charges you anywhere from 50 Kroner to 80 depending on the size of your bag. You'll pay the first 24 hours up front, then in order to redeem your bag, you'll have to pay off any balance after that.
The station has ATMS. It has coffee shops. It has a place to exchange currency. Hey, they even have a Starbucks. The information centre is connected here as well. There is also a bridge that will take you to Oslo City (the mall).
The station is clean. It's busy. And it's safe. This is a great place for all travelers. You should have zero issues here- unless you've got to use the bathroom.
