Óstan Loch Altan (Loch Altan Hotel)

Well, it’s your basic nothing special roadside hotel. not near town or anything! It’s only a few feet from the main road so I wouldn’t want to stay in any of the rooms at the front of the hotel. From the photo it looks like it’s right on the water, but it’s not close to the water at all. I asked for a quiet room at the back, it had zero view except for the kitchen roof of the hotel. But it was quiet. A very small room couple of feet on each side of the bed. There was lots of parking and it had a large restaurant, bar. And breakfast was included, which was good. It was so basic and plain. I never took a single picture. There was nothing to take a picture of.

All the staff were so professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, nothing was a bother to them. ||Our large bedroom and bathroom were both very clean and warm. (Bathroom had a shower and a jacuzzi bath, heaven)||Great breakfast, both continental and cooked, really sets you up for the day. We didn"t need to eat until dinnertime. ||Evening meals were beautiful as well, there was a great choice, we ate the 3 nights we stayed here, each night we both ordered something different from the menu, every dish we had was so tasty, well cooked with local ingredients. all lovely. No complaints at all. ||This hotel is a great, quiet location for visiting all the spectacular scenic local spots including Glenveagh Park & Castle, Errigal and Muckish mountains, the harbour and the beautiful beaches along the Atlantic Way.

Stayed here in lovely Gortahork recently for a weekend stay. Firstly I must compliment the friendliness of the staff, always pleasant and helpful. Food was lovely and drinks reasonably priced. The rooms are a little bit dated but bed was comfortable. Bathroom spotless and plenty of towels. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

A very nice 4 star hotel with great service. Located on the Main road, this property serves well if anyone wants to stay in and around this area to visit Mount Errigal, Magheratoy beach and many more places. Staff too is very friendly and helpful - going beyond their service for guests. Recommended to anyone who is looking for a nice stay and food.

It looked like a nice place to eat but we were very, very disappointed by the food. The curry was dreadful and had like gravy instead of decent sauce. The girl beside us returned her dessert because there was a great long hair across it. After that we just paid and left.

Stayed here for a couple of nights this week. It’s an old hotel, you can tell, but sure, everything’s grand. Rooms are alright—nothing fancy but does the job. Handy enough for parking, with a private spot out the back and a common one out front as well. No complaints, really!

We stayed for 3 nights on a b and b and 1 evening meal package. Fantastic value and beautiful location. The hotel staff were friendly and the food was excellent and enjoyable. We ate dinner in the hotel each night and was freshly cooked as was the breakfast. The only minor thing was that the mattress was a bit hard but apart from that it was one of the best hotels we have stayed in. I would recommend Óstan Loch Altan to everyone. Many thanks.

We stayed for 3 nights as a short break treat. We had dinner in the bar each night and the food was hot freshly cooked and great value. 2 courses for under 25 Euro each.. We had breakfast each morning which was tasty and filling to set us up for the day. Very friendly staff in the bar, restaurant and reception. Our only little thing was the mattress in our room. It was too hard and flat and we would have preferred a soft one. But apart from that we really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.
