Delicious food, great canal side ambiance, and friendly service! Highly recommend it! We got lucky to drop by early and they had a table for 2 available without a reservation. our order: Buffalo Mozzarella Caprese Carpaccio Baked Monkfish handmade pasta ragu note: serving is small or rather a healthy portion size.

Best meal we had in Venice. Absolutely fantastic pasta, excllent wine, friendly service and a lovely, quiet, canal-side location far from the madding crowd. Highest recommendation!

Beautifully located right on a quiet canal in Cannaregio, Osteria Da Rioba serves honest, high-quality Venetian food without any unnecessary fuss. Many dishes are simple in the best sense – perfectly cooked with top-quality ingredients, some even coming straight from their own garden on San Erasmo. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service warm and attentive, and it feels like a place where locals and visitors alike can enjoy the essence of Venetian cuisine. A perfect spot to slow down and savor great food by the water.

The food is incredible from the start. The ingredients so fresh. Even the vegetables are special. The taste so delicate. Gets better with every bite.

Google
This spot came highly recommended and did not disappoint! Definitely recommend making a reservation but we went over almost 2 hours early in hopes of eating earlier and got sat within 30 minutes of getting there! The same people own/operate a lovely natural wine bar next door that’s great for getting a drink while you wait. The service is amazing, our server made delicious wine recs and we loved all the food. Really friendly and warm place, we sat outside even though it was raining and didn’t mind at all, nice heaters and beautiful canal-side atmosphere. Come support this place for sure!

Google
Food was delicious and service i couldn't fault. Attentive and faster than we thought it would be. Had two seatings one 7pm and another 9pm. Food was outstanding.

Went there twice within a week, the first time because it was close to the hotel, the second time because we enjoyed the first visit so much. Not having booked on both occasions the manager was kind enough to accommodate use outside under heating lamps. The food was delicious, small portions but they add up if one goes for the classic four course scenario as is tradition in Italy. We had amazing sea food, very quaffable house wine and desserts (which were good but not outstanding).

Sitting at a candlelit table by a canal in Venice with a dear friend would be worth it on its own. However, the dining experience was truly remarkable due to the high quality of the food—primarily fish-based dishes—the freshness of the ingredients, and the nearly perfect execution of each meal. Last but not least, our very friendly and helpful waiter contributed to what turned out to be a perfect night out in the City of Sighs.

Yelp
We had a marvelous dinner here our last night in Venice! My husband and I stopped and were lucky to get in without a reservation. The restaurant quickly filled completely after a short time. We had the thinly sliced beef with apricots for an aperatif and the beef was so tender you could cut it with a fork. They had an extensive wine list and we had a bottle of Teroldego which we had sampled at the Rioja winery in Romero and it was perfect. My husband had the lamb - tender and perfectly done. I had the potato and zucchini filled pasta which was delicious and the plate presentations for everything were beautiful. We had their tiramisu for dessert which was also delicious. It was an outstanding and memorable meal for our last night in Venice.

Yelp
WOW, lucky for us the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed for our duration of our travels so we sat here for some lunch grub and how beautiful that they have some water ways right behind you. Decor is super cute and def gives off that Venice vibes! Not to mention this was actually a very highly rated restaurant according to google with a lux dinning experience. I ordered the octopus dish and my cousin ordered some seared fish dish. We ordered an appetizer to share as well before out entrée dishes arrived. We both finished our dish and appetizer. The seafood we both had was super fresh and actually quite filling. I was worried I was still going to be hungry after eating. The service is A1! he speaks fluent English and was very helpful answering our questions before we ordered. They def have some top notch quality food and service to accompany you!

Yelp
Great plating and amazing service. Found this place while staying around the corner. They nicely squeezed us in at 7:30 without a reservation. We both ordered the 6 course tasting menu. While the plating was exquisite and everything tasted fresh, one plate had shells and the other a small bone. Also none of the flavors blew us away. The spaghetti with clams was our favorite and the scallops wrapped in speck were also delicious. It just seemed pricey for a meal we didn't love. I found their tiramisu to be one of the best I've tried though :) The service was great - friendly, lively, and attentive. My water glass was never empty and they constantly checked in. If I came again, I would order a la carte and not off the tasting.

Yelp
My favorite meal in Venice. We ordered several dishes, and all were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The wine list is exceptional and the staff are knowledgeable to help you choose the perfect wine pairing if you feel overwhelmed. We visited in April, so the evenings were a little chilly, but the heated lamps made it so comfortable to sit outside and still enjoy the canal and people watching Venice has to offer.

Yelp
We were in town filming a fashion segment when the owner of the factory recommended this wonderful restaurant to us. But we had a dilemma, it was the England Croatia World Cup semi final and our reservation overlapped...but they were kind and accommodated and sat us in a table by the water with a view of the game from the bar next door. Haha sure not the romantic vision of a night in Venice but once England lost the party started. We took their advice and ordered four starters, a burrata dish and a polenta with octopus. Amazing. Then we went for the giant sea bass served with potatoes and some veggies and it was delightful, our sommelier, who also watched the game with us, (he was part Croatian) treated us to some magical natural Italian wine. They were insanely good. Trust him. He knows. We then ordered all their desserts, the tiramisu def wins. Love this place, locals swear by it and for a dinner for four with two bottles of wine it came out to less than 400 euros...come on! what a deal!

Yelp
Came in for lunch and was advised this is a locals place. We sat outside along the water canal since it was such a beautiful day and started off with yummy bread and the red house wine. For starters I ordered the Fried scampi marinated with red onion, pine nuts and topped on polenta - divine! Next course home made pappardelle with chicken and lastly duck breast with wine sauce & figs. Both entrees were so delicious and fresh tasting. The service here by our waitress was outstanding and this was definitely one of the better meals we enjoyed in Venezia! I just wish I had room for dessert.

Yelp
Cute restaurant in the north side of Venice with outdoor seating along a less touristy canal. Service was great and the food and wine were decent. However, everything took forever to come out: 8 pieces of scallops (yummy!) took 40 min and our main courses (just okay/good) another 20-30. We were the first seating at 7:30pm but ended up missing our train out and had to catch the 10pm one. Our meal was also pretty pricey.

Yelp
Our last meal in Venice was fantastic! The quality of the food surpassed our expectations, and the service was terrific! Our waiter was Alex (his "English" version, of course), who attended to us incredibly! He suggested a wine that was delicious and when we had the 6 course tasting menu, he paced each course perfectly! While a bit pricey, this was worth every cent!

Yelp
This restaurant is wonderful! The wine selection, service, and food options were all excellent. We ordered a scallops appetizer, 2 pasta dishes, and dessert. Next time we'll order the tasting menu, it looked awesome. Overall, we had a lovely evening in a beautiful canal-adjacent setting.

Yelp
This was our upscale dinner in Venice. We loved this part of town away from the tourists with quieter spots on the water. This restaurant is pricy with small portions but everything we had was excellent. This was a meal that we just wanted to extend. We started with the eggplant and mozzarella salad. We each had a homemade pasta. The pasta itself was excellent but I wished mine had more flavor. We then shared a white fish, crusted with nuts.

Yelp
Our final meal in Venice was quite eventful. We had been searching for this place for four days! After getting very lost--which we highly recommend doing in Venice--we found a friendly soul who had a map which eventually led us to Ostaria da Rioba. So after going over several bridges, staying straight and making a few lefts, we managed to accidentally find Da Rioba and it was worth all the drama. Here is what we ate: PRIMI PIATTI Pumpkin Ravioli This was the "Ravioli of the Day". It was delicious. SECONDI PIATTI We were a little over pasta--we never thought this was possible--so we decided to go with the land and sea options. Sea Bass Goodness, this was so good and fresh. It was so refreshing to eat something from the sea. Lamb Chops Initially I was very confused about this "local" lamb since I hadn't seen a single blade of grass in Venice during my four days there but I was assured there is a mainland which has plenty of lamb and other animals. Regardless of where the lamb actually came from, it was phenomenal! I ate every single piece down to the bone--no shame. DOLCI Almond Cake We were really excited about this selection on the menu because we thought it might be like the awesome almond cake we got in Montreal. Unfortunately it wasn't the $250 Almond Cake but it was still very good. I am glad we stumbled upon Ostaria da Rioba on our last night in Venice. Venice has been very good to us. Every meal was quite enjoyable. We will definitely come back.

Yelp
Ate at this restaurant three times during my latest holiday in Venice. It's off the beaten path, in Cannaregio, close to Madonna Dell'Orto church, in an area that's less touristy. Both food and service and were great, attentive staff knew perfectly well when to give me space and when to show up. During one of my visits, the restaurant was fully occupied but the staff still did their best to cater to all my needs. When in doubt, ask for a recommendation and trust staff's opinion.

Yelp
Nice place by the water with nice set course. Very French food like. Everything is Perfect here.

Yelp
Confused by the positive reviews. Service was so-so, food was unbelievably low quality, and prices were unreasonably high for what was served. It's criminal that this place has such a high review. If you have functioning taste buds, skip this one.

Yelp
This was another favorite (see review for 40 Ladroni for other) of mine in Venice. First off, the setting is so venetian! The views of the canal are breathtaking! There aren't a lot of other restaurants or shops near this place, so it's a little hard to find - but once you do, you'll appreciate the lack of tourists. All of our courses were amazing but I think the seafood sampler (with king prawns, foie gras, etc.), and pasta w/ clams were my favorite. My pasta had plenty of clam pieces, which was unexpected. The service was impeccable - our server was sweet, attentive, and even gave us recommendations of where to go out later. They stayed open late just so that we could finish our meal, but never made us feel like we were imposing. Highly recommend this place - just be sure to use waze directions to find it.

Yelp
Excellent meal, perfect relaxed service, great and deep wine list. This place is an "Ostaria" in name only-the food is very refined, on a par or better than many top tier restaurants in New York (my benchmark). The plating is beautiful, everything is top quality and super fresh. Don't skip the dessert-we had an apple crepe w rosemary that was delicious.

Yelp
**This is misspelled. It is 'Rioba.' We split an appetizer of fish and seafood crudo. The tuna and whitefish were fresh and spiced well. The Sicilian shrimp was firm and sweet, as was the local shrimp. There was a third type of shrimp that wasn't our favorite. The entrees were gnocchi with crab, sprinkled with bottarga and a white grilled white fish served over watercress and topped with nuts. They were unusual dishes that were delightful. Subtle, flavorful, amazing. It's four stars for some slow, grouchy service. However, we were here just after tourist season, so they may just need some down time.

Yelp
Exceptional pasta. Off the beaten track as well - nowhere near the crowds at st marks square. Definitely make a reservation if possible - place is usually booked up.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure that this US actually " Rioba" and not Robia, so someone may want to fix that. Osteria da Rioba has such amazing cuisine that my wife and I remembered it and tracked it down, years later, on our second trip to Venice. Amazing, wonderful, unforgettable cuisine, with friendly but slightly unskilled servers. Go with patience and you'll have a fantastic meal and a good story to tell.

Yelp
Loved it! Super light in portions, and definitely pricey, but the quality was good and the dishes were interesting. The service was just OK, but the ambiance was really nice. The house white was delightful and the tiramisu was killer. Would return!

Yelp
On a three day trip to Venice, we are here twice! Great selection of food, with wonderful service on a small canal (Fondamente Misericordia), an easy walk from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Yelp
Had the best Lamb I think I have ever had. My wife had pasta which was also excellent. Portions were not large so you may want to also order an appetizer.

Yelp
Good location and service. Food is good but does not quite match the price.
