Where to Stay in Milan When You Visit in 2025

"Located just a few blocks from the Duomo, Ostello Bello is one of the best hostels in Milan: facilities are extensive and include a guest kitchen with free food, a bar where you get a free welcome drink, outdoor terraces, and an indoor lounge. There's a great breakfast (7 EUR), spacious dorms with comfy beds and en-suite bathrooms, and helpful staff who organize tons of free events like walking tours." - Matthew Kepnes

The most incredible hostel I have ever stayed at. The amenities included in the stay are really just second to none, it had everything you could possibly want. Free dinner every night was incredible and the people that stayed there were so so fun. The bar was incredibly well stocked and pretty cheap too! Staff is incredible and having a volunteer like Marcelo made the stay so much more enjoyable. There is something for everyone here, whether it's the games or billiards or karaoke or live DJs or even just chilling out. The kitchen was also the most surprising part, it was incredibly well stocked with some free pasta and veggies and sauces. Like I can't get over the level of attention to detail this hostel reaches. I've been to many many hostels before and to Milan a few times but staying here transformed it into the most beautiful stay I've had there. I would highly highly recommend, there was absolutely no downsides. Thank you to the staff and the wonderful Paolo for the amazing stay. Will be back soon to volunteer here for sure!! x

Honestly one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. The atmosphere was amazing, everyone was so kind, welcoming, and from the moment I arrived I felt part of a great community! The hostel has amazing features like a kitchen filled with products you can use, a game room to meet new people, a bar across the hostel that serves free dinner and has amazing vibes, and much more. Thank you Paolo for the incredible stay, couldn’t have asked for more! :) For all you travelers that want to meet new people, highly recommended!!

This is honestly one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. While they offer all the standard amenities you’d expect from a hostel, they also go the extra mile with some really nice extras. There’s a game area with things like billiards and board games, and they even offer free food at times, like pasta, coffee, and other small treats. These little touches really made the stay more enjoyable. Overall, I had a really positive experience and would definitely recommend it.

Google
Overall, I found the hostel to be very good and well-equipped. They offer free amenities and food, which is suprisingly interesting. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bunk beds are comfortable, and the room has a private bathroom. However, both the private and shared bathrooms smell of urine, and the cleanliness leaves something to be desired.

Google
Surprisingly nice hostel! Very friendly both - staff and surroundings! The only things we regret - not taking earplugs at the reception and not so good sleep because of that. Otherwise everything was fine! I liked that everywhere, even the walls remind us to think and act green. But the style is so friendly and amazing. Also reminder to clean up behind one, because there are no mums there!

Google
Its a rip off!! 70 Euros for a hostel room is disrespectful. They take advantage of the fact that there's no other hostels in como except of one that is very shady. It was very loud as there is a Bar in the hostel, so its more of a party hostel. Also its very loud because of the main street. I was not happy at all and expect way more for a hostel that costs 70 euro a night! The beds also were not comfy. You sleep in a bunk bed of 3 beds. I cant recommend this place at all. But the staff is very nice and friendly

This hostel is absolutely fantastic!!! The staff is so kind and nice. There is always someone at the reception and they welcome you with so much effection, care and warmth. The beds are great. They are really comfortable and every bed has its own curtains if you want to have privacy. The location of the hostel could not be better - right in the city center. They have a cool terrace on the top floor and breakfast was also fine. I really enjoyed my time there and would definitely recommend this hostel to everyone who stays in Milano. Best hostel!!!

Google
Absolutely loved this hostel! Very warm, lively, and clean! The layout of the 6 bed female dorm was functional and nice - including little curtains and lights on each bunk, and blackout curtains in the room. The staff is friendly and helpful. The shared spaces are really nice and I appreciate the coffee/tea/water/fruit that’s available for all guests. Also I really like this location - 15 minute walk to the Duomo, as well as to Navigli canal district. It was easy to chat with other travelers here and make friends. I’ll be back!

Yelp
A home away from home in Milan! I have now stayed here twice and each time was an absolutely amazing experience. The staff are so friendly and truly make you feel as if you have been their friend for years. Everyone is so helpful and the guests the atmosphere is welcoming and exciting. You'll find many locals here enjoying lunch, the bar and activities as well as guests, so there's never a dull moment. Was sad leaving Milan both times solely because I did not want to leave ostello bello. Clean, fun and friendly! Best hostel in Italy!

Yelp
I'm studying abroad here in Milan and have been at Ostello for almost a month and I am so happy we chose this place. The hostel itself is really clean, has cool, eclectic décor and several patios for guests to hang out on. The kitchen upstairs has an rooftop herb garden with tables and is a really great spot to cook, hang out and relax. Probably my favorite part is how awesome the staff is. Really great people who go out of there way to make the experience at Ostello fun and feel like home. Definitely recommend staying here!

Yelp
Super, super awesome hostel. There's instruments laying around the basement, books, board games, kitchens to make your own meals, and lots of interesting people around. The place was really buzzing Saturday night; they have a bar and also do food. Breakfast is included in your stay and according to them is from "'7:30 am to whenever you want!" Beautiful artwork on the walls and lots of cool corners and lovely terraces to sit and chat. I'll definitely come back!

Yelp
We have only stopped for drinks, so I can not comment on the Hostel or food portion of this business. We live close to Ostello Bello and pop in from time to time for a drink. There is always a lively group of travelers here as well as some locals who have come to know this is a good place to come for a reasonably prices adult beverage. The room contains a large assortment of mismatched table and chairs. A bar and the reception area are toward the back of the room. In the early (for Milan) evening, they have an aperitivo buffet along the right side of the room. Order from the cashier and bring your receipt to the barman. Grab a seat inside, or hang out by the street and enjoy the evening. Just be aware this is a narrow, old city, stone street and a fair number of cars come by so pay attention to traffic. Ostello bello is right off Via Tornio but for some reason you don't hear all that street noise which is nice. There's a fair bit of 'people watching' from both the clients and the pedestrians if you like that sort of thing. This is a friendly place to meet both locals and an astonishing array of travelers of all ages and nationalities, and get a nice, reasonably priced drink.

Yelp
I love this place. The atmosphere is laid back and it's great for meeting people. The tables are shared so you'll be sure to end up chatting with some locals or travelers. I did not stay here, but they open their doors in the evening for anyone to come and have a drink. I went with a friend and we ended up meeting a nice group of Italians from different parts of the country and going to one of the other nearby bars. So if you're interested in making some new friends or share some travel stories this is definitely the place to be in Milan.

Yelp
Very nice and chilly place with a friendly atmosphere. Located in the city and it's not far away from the Duomo.

Yelp
Dates I stayed: 2014.01.20-27. Probably the BEST hostel in Milano, Italia! Centrally located in the circular heart of Milano, it is only a 15 minute walk to the duomo as well as the duomo station off the city's metro which is a connecting point between two lines. The staff is absolutely awesome!!! Shout outs to Julia, Lorenzo, Max, Niko (sorry for the misspelling!), Francesco, and anyone else I forgot! FREE breakfast everyday from sunrise to as late as noon, if I recall correctly. The hostel has a bar too with very inexpensive prices. They have their own kitchen too that closes at 1:00 a.m., but you want to order at least 30 minutes beforehand. Starting at 19:00 is their FREE aperitivo!!! Two floors to hang out, the ground floor and basement. In the basement, there are readings of books and poetry. Upstairs, there is the occasional live band performing. The unique aspect of this hostel - during these aperitivo hours, the majority of people present are Italian! One would figure there would be a mix of people staying at the hostel would be hanging out, which they do. Yet there are way more Italian people! As it turns out, the bar itself, is a very popular place for locals. Popular in terms of local celebrities hang out there and just talk and exchange ideas. Rooms were clean! Temperature friendly! Private bathroom is modern and functions well! Rooms are cleaned every day and come with free locker-like bins (€5 deposit, which you get back upon returning lock and key) under the bunk beds. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hostel, though the more consistent connections appear to be in the lobby. Supper close to the four major cellular companies if you are looking for a SIM card. If you are looking for a metro card that is longer in duration, make sure you have a photographed picture of yourself, passport size. You may fill out an application at the "ATM" point in the metro. The metro system is called "ATM." I checked out other hostels for the city through HostelWorld and none could compare in terms of quality, location, and price, among other things. Everything else was just too far, and I seriously lucked out. I stayed for seven consecutive nights. Had I not guaranteed the booking myself, I almost chose not to go. With such high reviews already, why try anything else?! Grazie mille Ostello Bello!!! Ciao!

Yelp
After traveling through 7 different hostels around Europe, this is by far the best one I've visited. all the amenities are greatly appreciated. The best this about this place? The staff. We felt super welcomed, like part of their family. We got free drinks, got to socialize with other travellers and locals. They also really know their music and beers. Cheerful vibes, great price. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was the cleanest I've seen since I left home. it was the only place I even felt remotely comfortable walking around without shoes at night. I recommend this place to anyone and will definitely return. PS. there's free breakfast, laundry service and a haircut person as well.

Yelp
Probably the best hostel in Milan. Milan isn't too amazing compared to the many cities in Italy but I was glad I found this hostel! They had a fundraiser going on the night I was there and about 150 people were in the Lobby area drinking and eating and having a good ole time! The rooms are ultra clean and the place is renovated in the inside! The staff is hip but fun to chat with! Max was cool and the Polish front desk chick. :) If I ever go to Milan again on a budget, this is the place! Really close to a lot of bars, restaurants and Duomo di Milano!

Yelp
I have no idea why this place gets rated so highly. It can't decide if it's a nightclub or a place for people to sleep. At 1 am, it's still possible to hear (from my bed) them playing loud music downstairs. When I asked when the music would be turned off, the guy working the front desk insisted that you couldn't hear the music and noise one floor up. Obviously he's never tested this theory out. The hostel overall is not terrible but if you can't sleep, what's the point?

Yelp
Great place to have a drink. It such a nice hipster scene as well. It was decent pricing for drinks. Try the house blonde. It was very good when I tried it. Downstairs is a very chill and happening place to mingle and get to know people. I recommend this place is you need a drink
google avatar

Yelp
I've only gone here for drinks, not the hostel. Drinks are cheap and decent. They make a solid old fashioned. Ambiance is hit or miss, but the basement has games and instruments so if you like a busy/noisy scene, you'll like it. Live music sometimes on the main floor.

Yelp
Super incredibly nice people! The customer service was great (shout out to be guy who works at night shift). When traveling, you never know how nice the locals will be, but at this hostel they were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Best hostel ever. From the first welcoming to the cleanliness to the location to airport shuttles and public transit. 24 hour bar means a drink no matter when you arrive and an awesome little first floor common space you're guaranteed to find new friends. Stay here. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Okay folks we've made it. After staying at numerous hostels across Europe, this one has taken the cake. Significantly more expensive than other hostels, it's worth it. A breakfast buffet and dinner of a pasta sort is included every single day. For lunch, they have a menu including options such as salads, lasagna, chicken and hamburgers. Guests of the hostel can enjoy happy hour specials as well! The weekends include a brunch menu offered and late night food is served as well. The service is unparalleled to others. Hillary is the best person to walk the earth and her presence at this hostel has made my trip that much more worth it. The hostel offers a laundry service which will cost you €7 which sounds steep-except they do it for you! Washing drying and folding! You can reserve tables for dinner if you're traveling with a large group, they even take your luggage to your room for you via the elevator! Speaking of rooms-they're FABULOUS! Our room was one of the few-if not the only room with a private terrace right off of it! The showers feature rainfall shower heads and housekeeping cleans it everyday! The beds are pretty comfy-I do wish they had heavier blankets however as it can get chilly at night. The best part though-THE AIR CONDITIONING. After staying at numerous hostels in the brutal heat across Europe without air, ostello bello offered a nice surprise. Also be sure to enjoy your free drink using the drink token you receive during checkin. One warning however-as Americans we did notice that sometimes during meal times we would be served last despite arriving well before others at lunch. Sometimes we were just ignored and had to go to the bar to tell our server we wanted to eat there. That's the only real complaint however-otherwise it's a great option! For reference I was here for 9 nights with a large group!

Yelp
.....we've been in Milan for a few days now and it's been difficult to find a "lively" night out being that the folks in milan seem super-laid back. So we yelped and found this place figuring that it being a hostel also---there would be a lively bunch of folks. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance-- chill, laid back but still lively so as to not have you fall asleep. They had a mix of drinks and food very reasonably priced. We had a good time by Milanese standards... it looked like they had various events there as well--- they had some theatre with live acting ....it was interesting. Being that it was a rainy Monday here in Milan...... the place was pretty hopping considering that the rest of Milan seemed closed.

Yelp
Excellent brunch and amazing place. Perfect for having relax and cozy time. Ideal living room for drink and share time with friends

Yelp
This was my first hostel experience, and Ostello Bello far exceeded my expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the hostel was quite clean. The complementary breakfast and dinner were great (the dinner had lots of variey, with many different dishes served, not quite restaurant quality but awesome given that it was a free meal! I even had a bunch of non-dairy dishes to choose from, which was fantastic.) After dinner we were also treated to a free drink (basically anything we wanted, including cocktails). Meals were eaten together in the communal dining area which was a great opportunity to meet new people. Locks and lockers were provided to secure our belongings. My friend and I stayed in a co-ed room with four other guests. We were only there for 1 night so we didn't get to take advantage of the kitchen or the patio. Obviously I don't have a lot to compare Ostello Bello to, but from my brief stay I'd say it's definitively worth the money!
