Pros 1. Price is better than pretty much anything else in the city. 2. Location is amazing. 3. Breakfast included.
I however had several unpleasent experiences. While on my way to Trento, my train was delayed for several hours. I was supposed to arrive at 8PM and the reservation said that check in started at 7. I then recieve an email at 8:57 PM stating that check-in ends at 9 and that they had tried to call me and in which they asked me to call them back.
I recieved no call. Then I tried to call them in a panic around 20 times with no response. When I finally arrive, the door is locked, and I rang the bell, nobody responded.
I am then really scared because it is 10pm and I have nowhere else to stay. I call several other hotels and they are all full.
After around an hour I get in by following people who have keycards. The receptionist is then extremely rude and accuses me of not having contacted them and charges me a €15 late-check-in fee.
So
Check in times of 7-9PM are ridiculously limited, and it says nowhere on the website/for the reservation that it ends at 9.
The room is what you could expect for the price.
They also have many fees with which they likely try to compensate the cheap prices. €15 late check-in, €20 if you lose your roomkey, etc.
Moral of the story,
If you are reliant on the cheaper price in comparison to other accomodations, I get it, just beware.
UPDATE:
Following the response I would like to note following things.
1. The opening times are not clear on the website, and even if they were, contacting a guest three minutes before the reception closes with a reminder is nowhere near enough notice to adequately serve guests. The hotel also did not reply to several of my emails and calls after this email at 8:57 PM for an extended time, despite me responding to the email right after it was recieved.
2. The fact that the hotel door was simply locked, and the bell was quite inconspicuous led to the situation described above. If the door is going to be locked, the bell to get in should be clearly visable and obvious.
3. None of the previously mentioned aspects justify the quite rude behavior of the hotel staff. A paying guest should not recieve offhand and rude comments like this while simply trying to check in or inquire about the hotel services.
4. The claim that 'late check in an replacement key fees' cover 'additional operational costs' is frankly somewhat absurd. If the reception is staffed nonetheless, a check-in at 10:20 PM does not cause any more costs than a check-in at say 3PM. Additionally, the cost for a replacement key-card is nowhere near the 20€ charged to a guest in that case. This is a strategy to profit from guests in situations where they have no choice but to pay, while still being able to market themselves as a 'budget hotel'.
After these arguments I am convinced, please stay away if you can afford something else... The only reason I am keeping the additional star is due to the base price+location.
