Fantastic dinner- we had the grilled turbot, cuttlefish & polenta, sea bass carpaccio, spidercrab pasta and a local white wine. The service was great, you get to watch the carpaccio being prepared in front of you. Definitely recommend getting the carpaccio and some freshly grilled fish!

Recommended by an Italian friend living in London. This place ticked many boxes for both myself and my wife. Food was great, the wine and beer list was plenty, and there service was amazing. We will definitely be visiting again before flying back to London.

Huge intoxication after diner the 1st of November night at this restaurant. 4 out 5 family members got food poison after sharing the mix antipasti, ruining completely our trip to Venice… Even if the service and restaurant were good, the overall experience was terrible.

This restaurant was one of the greatest surprises of our trip to Venice. Service was great and the food was fantastic. Main highlight was the Branzino carpaccio that is prepared at the table from scratch - they will literally slice the fish in front of you! It was amazing to watch and even better to taste it. It's a small restaurant in a small Venetian alley. The environment is great and filled with posters and flags from the traditional annual Venice Regatta. Chef's recommendations were also very good but the carpaccio was the best!

Hidden gem on a busy tiny road that no one seems to notice. Not true! We loved the fish Carpaccio. Absolutely divine. Must have. Many other tradition dishes favoured by the Venetians. Very glad they had a table for us. Must reserve and visit when visiting Venice.

Definitely 5 stars for me! Those who given below 3 stars - i guess your standard of food and services is not from this world The Level of hospitality and service from Stefano is EXCELLENT - from the moment you enter til the moment you leave. He basically have this intimate interaction with all of his patrons and also personally debone every single sea bass that is ordered from every table!!! Tried both uncooked and grilled sea bass... delizioso!!! Highly Recommended!

Best restaurant we found in our 3 day trip to Venice. House wine was 30% less than elsewhere. Food was delicious. We had the cuttlefish risotto which was very tasty. Tiramisu was excellent. Note there is a large outside seating area. Head waiter was a real professional.

A nice, calm and typical, authentic place. Good seafood: we ate mix of starters and had sepia and seafood spaghetti. Both were great: the fish and seafood nicely prepared, pasta al dente. The staff was professional and attentive, also friendly and pleasant. I didn’t put the 5 starts just because it’s a restaurant and at this level there are places where I had better meals and experiences.

Yelp
Great place to eat while you're in Venice! Part 2 of my Italian trip was Venice (for obvious reasons!). We came here on the recommendation of a local who befriended us while we were having cicchetti at a small place in Giudecca. He said this is where he would come to eat for dinner, and when an Italian local tells you this, you take his recommendation. We ordered the bass carpaccio, and it was spectacular! It is prepared tableside in a very impressive manner, and then doused in fresh lemon juice, olive oil, and champagne. A really unique dish, and very tasty too. We also had the squid ink pasta, a Venetian specialty, which we enjoyed. I would definitely come back next time I am in Venice!

Yelp
This was the first restaurant my wife and I went to in Venice, back in 2010 (and again in 2015), per recommendation from the concierge at the hotel we stayed in (Hotel Stern). I don't know if Stefano still works there, but he made the experience memorable. He recommended the sea bass carpaccio (which he filets and prepares in front of you), the squid ink pasta, and the fritto misto that contained an assortment of Venetian lagoon fish. It was our first taste of these classic dishes and we've been hooked ever since. Weather permitting, request to sit outside in the courtyard - it's intimate and charming. It was also enjoyable conversing with Stefano - if he's there, please ask him about the time Wesley Snipes ate at his restaurant. We've subsequently dined at many places in Venice that we think had superior food, but Osteria Al Do Farai, and Stefano, will always have a special place in our hearts.

Yelp
Amazing. Best place we are in Venice. Get the crab and the whole fish and watch Stefano filet it in front of you!

Yelp
We went to Do Farai on the recommendation of our B&B host and must admit that food was some of the best that we had during our 16-day trip to Italy. We had spider crab, an artichoke salad, linguine with clams and the famous fish that the other reviewers talk about. The fish was absolutely amazing -- probably the best fish I've ever tasted in a restaurant (even the nice places tend to overcook it). The downside is that the fish itself was a "special" that wasn't on the menu, so the price on the final bill was far more than what was it was worth -- 48 euros alone. Rookie mistake (it was our first night in Italy), so we then knew to clarify the price on any "specials" that weren't on the menu before ordering.
