"At the foot of the Rialto Bridge with fantastic views of the Grand Canal, Osteria Bancogiro sits under the archway of the Bancogiro (a bank founded in 1600) from which the tavern gets its name. Here, you'll find a ground-floor wine bar serving carefully curated varietals by the glass and bottle, as well as stellar crostini cicheti choices like salumi and cheese, warm octopus and eggplant, and shrimp curry risotto. There are also blockbuster canal views from tables on the stone terrace in front. It’s a little expensive, but it’s really worth it. I went with two other people and I had the lamb and it was good. My friend had the steak which I had a piece of, and it was delicious as well. The presentation of the food was well worth it too as each plate looked amazing. I would definitely come back here and I extremely recommend it.

Google
Well, after a fair few glasses of wine, I'm likely to wax lyrical about this restaurant, but by God they deserve it. After two weeks travelling through Italy, South to North, and some really "good" food, I feel like we truly discovered "great". Osteria Bancogiro was just wonderful. The setting next to the canal, the friendly and welcoming service, and the food...! We decided to have the grilled octopus as a starter. Southern Italy eat your heart out. It was amazing. Then the veal and the lamb. Utterly sublime. We couldn't have asked for a better first evening meal in Venice, with more welcoming and friendly staff. Go there if you can. You'll thank me!

Google
Its decent, but to be honest extremely overpriced. You can find way better places at less posh places, but we know that when we come to this kind of tourist 'wannabe' restaurants its what you get. Wine was supposed to be really good, but was nothing special either. Dishes are a bit small. The black tagliatelle were too salty, and who ordered them had stomach ache afterwards. The carbonara was slightly undercooked (and I understand what al dente is), making the dish not as good unfortunately.

Google
Great place for food with a view Unfortunately we arrived with bad weather so was not able to sit outside by the canal We said inside away from the cold and it was a different kind of cozy atmosphere The waiter was friendly and spoke great English The food was good except portions felt bit small for the prices The costs are definitely higher in Venice compared to other cities in Italy You can tell this place is often visited by tourist as they have some many restaurant reviews and awards You can also choose to get some cicchetti by the bar downstairs and sample more items as they are known for their cicchetti

Google
Al fresco sitting with the grand canal in view is lovely. The range of cichetti is so good. We ended up almost ordering one of each. We had 12 different ones. Totally enjoyed them as each of them is well balanced and flavoured. Service staff is great too, warm and prompt.

Google
The restaurant is right next to the canal. Stunning view during the sunset. We ordered several dishes, they were all good, especially the shrimp for starter and the fish for main. Tiramisu was the best one I had during this trip

Daniel Taylor

Google
Great place on the water to finish our trip to Venice. The food was great, view was good, and we saw Stanley Tucci double.

Google
We are the cichetti similar to Spanish tapas but better. We sat outside with a beautiful virile wood the canal.

Yelp
We made a reservation for our last night in Venice. Service was alright. Nothing amazing, just typical service. Food was not that memorable. I had the cold pesto spaghetti, which was decent. We also had the seared octopus. The octopus itself was ok, but my party actually really liked the red cabbage that came with it. I also had the tiramisu, but it ended up being too sweet for me by the time I was almost done. Seating is on the canal, but not exactly on it. You still have a view, but it's maybe 39 yards away.

Yelp
I would give it 5 star for the location right by the canal as you see the boats go by, but 3.5 stars for the food. We got here without a reservation at 7 and was told that we could only be here until 9, as the table was reserved till 9. Overall service was ok though we had to pay cover charge of approximately 3 euros per person. We ordered an Aperol spritz, with an appetizer platter with fish and cold cuts beautifully laid on polenta, rabbit meat pasta and black pasta with seafood. Nothing great about either entrees the rabbit meat was a bit too salty, portions were medium to small. The appetizer and drink was good not so much the main entrees. A cute dinner date place but probably ok food and drink!

Yelp
Food was fantastic, service was perfect and the ambiance was fun and beautiful. Highly recommended and omg have the prosciutto and cantaloupe!

Yelp
Ate here in 2017 while traveling in Italy it was one of the best meals we had during our visit. The food was excellent the wine was great and we sat outside overlooking the grand canal. We'll be going back on our next visit to Venice.

Yelp
Great food, but 1-star for absolutely horrendous service. After seeing this spot recommended on a few "Best of Venice" type lists and guidebooks, we were excited to check it out. We were seated right away around 7:00pm on a Sunday evening, no reservation necessary. The terrace has an excellent view of the Grand Canal, which is no doubt the highlight of dining here. The wine list has a wide selection, many of them very reasonably priced. For food, we went with the onion soup, sliced beef with goat's milk and basil foam, and monkfish cooked in an asparagus, mushroom, and truffle broth, all of which were really well done. On the basis of food quality, we'd absolutely recommend this place as a delicious, centrally-located destination with a uniquely Venice view. But two complaints tanked this experience for us. One, it took our food FOREVER to arrive. After we ordered, our appetizer came in reasonable-ish time, about 20-25 min. After that, it was another hour-plus (!!) before our mains were ready. And sure, service in Italy is on the more lax / leisurely side than in the US, but this was next level inattentiveness. During that time, the waiter never checked on us or kept us updated without us prompting them. Second, when we pointed out that tables seated *after* us had received *the same* dishes earlier, we were rudely rebuffed and in curt fashion informed that some dishes took longer to prepare than others. Did they really mean to tell us that the monkfish and sliced beef took longer to prepare for us than the 2-3 other tables that we saw arrive later, receive these dishes, and depart while we waited? Yes, with no shame whatsoever, they stuck with this lie. Literally as unapologetic and defensive as they could be for bottom-tier service. A few other other English-speaking tables near us even reached out to us to let us know they were similarly appalled at how we were treated; it was a source of mutually enjoyed dark humor. The food is not worth the insult. I've noticed a few other reviews on Tripadvisor comment on perceptions of racism by the staff. Skin tone was definitely the only difference between us and the tables that were served on time and treated with respect, sooo draw your own conclusions. We definitely did. And don't eat here unless you're into shelling out $ to be treated like trash.

Yelp
Zero stars. Cons: Menu was dirty. We asked if they could make bruschetta, they said "NO." The wait staff seemed annoyed that we came to eat there, and did not check in at our table unless we got their attention. Service was extremely slow. The food was a HUGE disappointment, not good. Pros: None

Yelp
I'm saying give this place a miss. It's so mediocre. There's not much more I can say. Four of us, ordering four different dishes, all left disappointed. It's just ok. And there's too many other restaurants to choose from.

Yelp
Amazingly delicious gnocchi! The meat and pesto-type of sauce were so good, it was one of a kind! The burrata was also good and different from the standard pomodoro style we've seen in the south. The server recommended a wine for us but he did not seem to be a sommelier. I got the bancogiro seafood platter and the two crustaceans were very fishy. The salmon tartare was good and the tuna sashimi was delicious- for a few days

Yelp
I really wanted to like Bancogiro but from the start there were issues. When I walked up there were multiple tables open. I took a table for two as I am a solo traveler. Immediately a waiter approached and said it was possible the table was reserved....he would check. The table was fine but then was I there for lunch or just a spritz? I was there for lunch but clearly if you were there for a drink and to relax, they weren't interested. The waiter was incredibly rude and couldn't be bothered so he dumped me off on someone else while he was smiling and pleasant to larger tables. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't spectacular for the prices. You really are paying for the location and view of the Grand Canal. I had been here pre-COVID and things were different. Most are very welcoming of tourists returning, but not Bancogiro. Sad to say, I won't return.

Yelp
10/10 recommend! Everything we ate and drank here was absolutely amazing. Portions were large, service was very attentive, waiters were very kind especially to American visitors struggling to speak Italian! The building was beautiful.
google avatar

Yelp
Waiters were rude and super unfriendly. Acted like it was a chore to serve and we could see them and the chefs just chilling sitting around talking while we didn't get drinks ordered for 30+ minutes after sitting down. WARNING: I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS PLACE SUCKED WHEN THEY MAKE YOU PAY (I repeat PAY) FOR WATER??!!??!! Huh? Cmon.... Food presents itself as upscale but is highly pretentious. Scallops were well cooked but the sauce had snot consistency. Spatzle tasted way too fishy. Pasta with sausage and chicory was way too small-portioned. Tuna had no sear and was bland. Steak was severely under seasoned. The meal came out to 400+ euros for 9 people, which is steep, even for a great meal, let alone a terrible one. AVOID, AVOID.

Yelp
We walked here from St Marks Square in about 15 min. This location was recommended to us by the hotel bartender, since there are 3 restaurants side by side with patio seating and views of the canal. We ended up sitting in the upstairs room since it was raining off and on all day. The wait staff was very polite and attentive which is always a plus when travelling as a tourist. We started with the cheese platter and preserves, which is always one of my favorites as a cheese lover. We then shared a scallop and bacon skewer with guacamole sauce and smoked eggplant. The citrus in the guacamole and the smokiness of the eggplant was an explosion of flavor in your mouth. Definitely the one dish I would recommend if you go here. It was just an early afternoon snack break while we shared a bottle of champagne, but I would imagine the rest of their dishes are just as delicious. Cheers, happy eating!

Yelp
So was in Venice for a few days and in the spirit of getting re-acquainted with the city's charm. As the trip wound down to a close, I was searching for a quiet and relaxed dinner and my hotel (the Gritti) offered Osteria Bancogiro as one of the proposed options. This place is right near Ponte di Rialto (3 minute walk) and is unassuming as it is located in the square with a few other restaurants next to it. I was hoping to sit outside as it offers a view of the canal but the weather was still a bit frigid so we ended up being seated inside in the upstairs loft area. The Outside spots offered nice views of the canal so a perfect spot for those looking to grab a meal or a drink during a nice warm summer day. The inside was quite charming and quaint offering a beautiful arch like roof which housed around 12 - 14 tables. The folks here all speak English very well as well as French and they were quite friendly throughout the entire meal experience. The prices are middle to higher range with most dishes ranging around the mid teens to the thirties in Euros. The dishes are also not classic Italian dishes so if that is what you are looking for, this may not be the spot you are searching for. I was in the mood for some fusion as I had the opportunity to try classic dishes over the course of Rome and Florence so this was perfect for me. The menu offered some unique appetizers, pastas, meats, and fish dishes. This joint has a nice wine list broken out by regions and there are plenty of options for reasonable priced wine. After a bit of perusal I went with the Marina Cvetic Montepulciano d'abruzzo d.o.c which paired well with our meal. They brought out a bag of bread and you are able to order (fee of 2.5 Euros) an Olive Oil if you want. They each offer a distinct taste so you have to choose one or multiple but all for the same price. Since we were in Italy I went for the olive oil and it was delish. We ordered the prosciutto which was quite delicious and their pickled vegetables were well made as well offering a great compliment. I also ordered the deconstructed caprese as the basil ice cream caught my eye as unique. The presentation was absolutely stunning as it was a small dish of basil ice cream and what appeared to be a tomato. The tomato had been deconstructed and been filled with mozerella with the idea to eat a piece of the tomato/mozerella with some of the basil ice cream. An absolute crowd pleaser and truly unique and wish I could have had more of that basil ice cream. Really well executed and unique dish. Ordered two pasta dishes with one being the Fusilli carbonara as well as the gnocchi. The Fusilli noodles were cooked well (al dente) however there were a few noodles in there that were a bit raw which is a shame but the ingredients were delicious and fresh. The gnocchi was cooked really well and the meat paired with it was delicious with the side sauces and presentation being spot on. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu which was simple/classic and delicious. A perfect way to end the meal. All in all, this is a great Italian fusion -esque place and certainly a nice intimate dinner amidst the touristy traps that fill the streets of venice. This joint offered a nice reprieve from the chaos outside and with well executed dishes. Will definitely recommend and wanted to write a review that is recent to help fellow travelers out as it seemed most yelp reviews and pictures were outdated.

Yelp
Great views on the canal, great food, friendly staff. We had a blast!

Yelp
We went in at the last minute before the kitchen closes for the day. So appreciative they accommodated us. The food was just wonderful. Not sure why this only got 4 star reviews on Yelp. It is much better than the one nearby rated for 4.6

Yelp
OK food, unfriendly and inattentive staff. Expensive for what you get. You pay for the location.

Yelp
Okay, I was NOT in a good mood when I arrived at Osteria Bancogiro. We had just walked from our hotel in the wind and rain and I was tired and over it all. But! This meal turned it all around for me and I left in the very best of moods. They took us upstairs where only a few other tables were seated, but it still had a nice romantic feel and the service was lovely. We started with their very inventive take on a caprese salad and whoa! There were freeze dried tomatoes, a lettuce sauce and a little cup of tomato-flavored gelatin. My husband was unsure but I loved it! Plus the cheese was delicious! For dinner, my husband had... guys, I don't even remember to be honest because I was too busy swooning over my parchment-steamed fish dish! Our server set it down in front of me and proceeded to cut it open in front of me, it was truly delightful. Every bite was just perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. This was certainly one of the best things I ate in all of Italy. Ended with the tiramisu and it was wonderful. I think they have seating out near the water when it isn't windy and raining, so I do wish we'd been able to enjoy that, but I also have zero regrets because this meal was perfect!

Yelp
Without a doubt the best meal I had in Venice and one of the best meals I've had across all of Italy. The outdoor seating is nice by the canal in the daytime but I visited for dinner and the upstairs is an enchanting dining room. We had various seafood plates served on polenta squares that were phenomenal. The black linguine with cod is as good a pasta dish as I have ever had. If in Venice Bancogiro is must!
google avatar

Dylan M.

Yelp
This was probably the best meal and service I had in Italy. The formal dining room is on the second floor while a small bar with casual snacks reside on there first floor. The dining room upstairs is small yet romantic almost like you are eating in a bell tower. The service was top notch and food the best I had in my 8 days moving around Italy. Conveniently located to Rialto it's easy to find and well worth a visit. Everything that came out was well prepared and presented. An overall lovely experience.

Yelp
Venice Rito mercado View of the water Best gnocchi I have ever head. Kangaroo meat sauce.

Yelp
Be sure to visit this place during your stay in Venice. The food and venue is amazing, and the out door seating are facing the water front. We only ordered the main curse, to be sure we weren't to full for the dessert. (Lesion learned!) The lamb and the sea bass was delicious, and the tiramisu did not disappoint. Highly recommended! Especially for couples. The romantic atmosphere is perfect for date night.
google avatar

Liza C.

Yelp
We went to this restaurant for dinner as recommended by our tour guide. We had a lovely table outside with a beautiful sunset and canal view. We ordered the grilled octopus which was amazing! Also ordered the kangaroo Raghu which was delicious. So happy to have found this gem of a place right next to the Rialto Bridge.

Lisa J.

Yelp
We were extremely disappointed with our meals. Over all the consensus with the short pasta was 'Terrible'!!! The beef and lamb were good, but the worst part of the Mel was the waiter, he was rude and the service was the worst since our arrival in Venice; he didn't t even refill the wine from the bottle. The worst experience ever!!!
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
This place was different. We sat outside for dinner. Lovely spot tucked back along a canal. Never saw the inside, which was packed and had an American-style lounge singer playing all the hits. It sounded like people were having a blast in there, and the music was nice for sitting outside. The pictures of food and the menus on yelp are all old. They must change the menu often, because there wasn't a single item that was the same. With that being said, the menu was not what we were expecting and there were only a couple things that looked good to us. They didn't have a lot of classic Italian dishes, but more Italian fusion. Dishes with soy sauce, or other ingredients you wouldn't expect. The food was good. But expensive. My biggest complaint is that both of our dishes were very salty. My husbands chicken, which was salty to begin with, then had salt sprinkled all over the plate. My pasta was cooked extremely al dente, more than you would want. And again, very salty. I probably wouldn't return for dinner, but drinks and cicchetti on the patio would be fun.
google avatar

Yuki D.

Yelp
Wonderful dinner on the grand canal. The service took a really long time but we weren't in a hurry and had a beautiful view, so we didn't care. We were here in October, during white truffle season, we we had the most amazing pasta dish with white truffles. One of the best things I've ever had!
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant in a sea of touristy places near Rialto. Bacogiro is situated along with a handful of restaurants facing the grand canal so make sure to grab a seat right in front of the correct storefront. The location is quite nice because it isn't thronged with tourists because it's the less popular side of the Rialto bridge. Fresh pasta, excellent second courses, and a good wine selection. Everything we ate here was expertly prepared. We had the gnocchi and ginger pasta (ridiculously good) to start. The Venetian-style cod is also a wonderful, as was the veal cheek. We didn't have dessert because we were so full afterwards. The service at this restaurant was excellent as well, with attentive waiters that are accommodating to one's best broken Italian (they speak English well). All in all, with two pastas, two second courses, and a bottle of wine we spent about €100, so this is not a cheap spot, but I found it to be well worth the money. One of the best meals we ate in Venice without question.
google avatar

Rosanne A.

Yelp
AMAZING. I booked a reservation at this restaurant for my husband's birthday dinner. The location was right next to the Rialto bridge, and had great patio seating and fantastic people watching, overlooking the Grand Canal. The food was delicious and the wine was fantastic. We recommended this restaurant to friends who traveled to Venice one month after we did, and they had an amazing experience as well. Couldn't have asked for a better restaurant to celebrate and enjoy our first night in Venice!
google avatar

Phillip Y.

Yelp
We came here for some quick bites to eat. We looked at the spread of finger foods exhibited at the counter. My wife and I selected a nice mix of cheese, meats, and fish on baguette slices. Afterwards, we tried to look for somewhere to sit but ended up standing up. There is very limited seating which is a little bit of a drag. You have to keep your eye on anyone leaving so that you can sit down to eat. Overall, it was a good experience but get there early for a better seating.
google avatar

Vijay S.

Yelp
Great place for cinchetti / oysters that is by the river. It's also a dinner spot. White wine glass for 2.50 euros. We had 2 glasses of wine along with 2 oysters which was amazing for 10 euros. Good mix of locals as well as tourists.
google avatar

Jim V.

Yelp
Hmmmm... great prices, great wine, and great food. This place had our favorite Cicchetti (kind of like tapas in España) of all of the bacari we visited while in Venezia. Do yourself a favor when you are in Venice, steer clear of the joints that are aimed at ripping off tourists, and frequent these joints, especially Bancogiro. We had the gamberi, bacalha (salted cod), Lardo sfoglia, and mortadella. All were pretty awesome.
google avatar

Gwen D.

Yelp
You're probably nervous about picking a restaurant in Venice. You suspect that most places cater to the worst kind of tourists, the unsuspecting ones who will drop top dollar for an overpriced alfredo and a view of the Grand Canal. You can breathe a sigh of relief. You've found Osteria Bancogiro, friend. A few steps from the Rialto Bridge on the San Polo side of the Grand Canal, Osteria Bancogiro serves Venetian dishes with a more modern twist. Eager to try local specialties, my friend and I asked our (cute!) waiter for recommendations, including a Veneto wine. We were especially pleased by the antipasti: burned octopus with black rice, beans & celeriac and king prawns with leek, pistachio and goji berries with sweet-and-sour sauce. We also enjoyed the traditional Venetian cuttlefish served in a sauce of its own black ink. We were a little disappointed that despite our canal-front view, the neighborhood seemed eerily still by 9:00 at night--probably not atypical in a town dominated by tourists. I wish we could've gone for a glass of wine in the daylight!

Heather K.

Yelp
Very good! Service was fast the fastest yet in Venice. Food was good we just had tapas but it's quiet out of the tourist zone right on the canal
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
Really outstanding. The food is excellent and inexpensive, and the wine selection is reasonable. Located close to the Rialto bridge, it's got a nice view and is more peaceful than the crowded side of the canal. Great for a romantic dinner though we did see several families here too. I had a fettuccine with eggplant and squid that was amazing. My seabass was solid but my wife's cod was the dish of the meal. Also, don't miss the tiramisu - a nice take with an almost creme brule texture and a tiramusi crumble on top. The waitstaff was amazing, they saw there there was a massive thunderstorm rolling in and they moved us all inside, accommodating a very cull patio at a moment's notice. A giant downpour would have spoiled our anniversary dinner, but the waitstaff had us all moved inside before a drop of rain. Our experience in Venice was that the food can be pretty hit or miss. In a city where almost 100% of your clientele will only visit you once it's easy to see why there are so many tourist traps (mediocre food and high prices). Not this place. I'm rating it 5 stars based on the food and atmosphere, but based on our other meals in Venice Osteria Bancogiro should get a special bump to six if possible.
google avatar

Yelp
This hole in the wall restaurant bar combo is worth the wait and worth the money. We arrived around six pm with two 60L+ backpacks in tow. The ground floor is a small bar with tons of local wine options, red, white, and sparkling. The servers were very knowledgeable and spoke English well. The upstairs dining room didn't open until 7pm and if you want to make sure you get a seat go ahead and make a reservation. The dining room sits 13 people between five tables but it doesn't feel cramped. I ordered the Butter and Sage tortilloni and a local Laguna white wine. The White was a great dinner wine and perfect for someone who doesn't have a developed pallet but wants to try something new. My friend got the risotto, a glass of Merlot, and a glass of pino negro. All of which were fantastic. Service was prompt and left nothing to be desired. The server even directed us to a small alcove to store our bags during dinner and they were safe and sound. The food was so good, I'd probably give up petting dogs to have it again.

Yelp
This is a good restaurant not great but solid. Go strictly for watching the crowds in n the evening. You are truly paying for the view. Our concierge recommended this restaurant for the chiccetti small tapas dishes of which we did not try. Could be better for chiccetti.

Imba K.

Yelp
You can't believe this place exists so close to the tourist crush of Rialto. But it does. And it's worth you're time. Service is professional and serious and friendly. Very nice wine list...ask for recommendations. The seafood starter I had was a stunning, loving presentation of six types of Adriatic seafood, and simply stunning. You want this trust me. Main of sea bream in a bag with vegetables and pine nuts was more basic but impeccably fresh. This is not a rip off place, but one that takes pride in Venetian cuisine. Relax here and enjoy a beautiful meal on the Grand Canal.
google avatar

Clay G.

Yelp
Hands down the best food we've had during our 7 days in Italy (Roma, Bellagio, Venezia). We split the cheese platter antipasti and fillet of beef. There's a great outdoor space for eating. Enjoy the Grand Canal without the herds of tourists.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Came here for dinner. I'd say it's between a 3 and a 4-star, to be fair. Closer to four by Venetian standards, definitely 3 by the standards of NYC or any other Italian city where there are actually locals. You can sit outside on a canal in an area that doesn't get much foot traffic, which is beautiful. The wine selections by the glass are great, and the wine list is extensive, so have fun with that. The food is fine... the bread is the standard frozen variety... the mozzarella appetizer we got was meh. We also got two pastas: a squid ink pasta and gnocchi with some sort of wintery meat (was it rabbit? I can't remember; it was not memorable). The squid ink pasta was absolutely fine and definitely more flavorful than the gnocchi. The gnocchi was so underwhelming, between the lack of flavor in the sauce and the meat. We got good and drunk and had a nice time eating in the candlelight on the canal sans tourists, so that's a big deal in Venice, but don't expect to be blown away by great food.

Yelp
Awesome experience in this restaurant minutes away by foot from the Rialto Bridge. We started by having drinks downstairs and moved upstairs for dinner. Romantic lights, tables not too close to another. We loved our appetizers: polenta with some type of cod on top. Then, we had amazing homemade fresh pasta and shared a caramel moelleux. So good and authentic. Don't waste any time and go! Dreaming to go back!

Yelp
Venice is not usually known for its restaurants, but Bancogiro puts La Serenissima on the Foodie map! Right off the Rialto Market this small, unassuming place makes exciting, hearty food. If you sit outside you have wonderful views of the canal, while inside has cozy and romantic vaulted room seating in a small yet comfortable space. The menu is seasonable and packs a punch. Very exciting dishes like a Fish 'Croissant' and Salmon Carbonara with Egg Foam. Exceptional meal, and the best I had in Venice. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Great Cicchetti. We really loved the Cicchetti here, it seemed to us to be definitely a level up from some of the other places that we tried and seemed to be fresher... We sat outside on a chilly November night around 6pm and though we didnt' have table service we didnt' mind walking into the bar and ordering drinks and wonderful treats to share... It was so worth it and while we are not reviewing the restaurant upstairs I loved this little bar and its great views on the canal... all the servers were wonderful to us with lots of smiles and small chat. If I lived in Venice this would be one of my regular stops if I lived nearby... Highly recommend.

Yelp
Very crowded when we arrived without reservation, we took that as a good sign. After a short wait, we got an invitation to step in and wait for a table. To ease the wait we were served with vino an sausage on the house - a great start into the dinner. A short while later we got served a delicious home made dinner in a setting which could have been the host's home. Very personaland high sttention service mafe this a night to remember!

Yelp
Osteria Bancogiro was a highlight of our trip to Venice. Not only was the view spectacular, the whole meal experience was a delight. We had a chilled Meroi Sauvignon to start off and then proceeded with an incredible tuna and cod experience. The tiramisu rendition for dessert was outstanding. This is a place for any foodie to treasure!

Yelp
Stunning locations n on the Grand Canal with delicious and inventive food. Their take in caprese salad was a work of art. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff. Well worth a trip but be sure to make a reservation. We had the filet with foie gras and lamb chops as main courses in addition to the caprese salad and a selection of Italian cheeses. Wine was well curated and reasonably priced. Make your way here for a memorable dinner!

Yelp
We loved our meal here. The small dining space upstairs was beautiful and very cozy on a rainy evening. The service was exceptional, they went out of their way to ensure my moms food allergies were covered and they were very friendly with our baby. We shared a few pasta dishes, some fish and appetizers and all of them were very unique and flavorful. A great destination in Venice!

Yelp
We had a fabulous dinner here. After being disappointed by a number of touristy spots, we found BancoGiro. It has a view on the grand canal, live music and a nice vibe. The food was excellent and definitely a couple steps above the typical pizza and pasta places. I had a cuttle fish ink pasta with mussels that was spicy, tasty and cooked perfectly. The mussels were very fresh and well prepared. For a main, I had the lamb with mint and eggplant. Everything was great. My daughter loved her Branzino with lime and coconut. The house wines were outstanding. Service was decent. They helped us get a table when it was very crowded and were responsive when we needed something. Not the most helpful or friendly but not rude or neglectful either as is the case in some spots. Overall, we had a wonderful evening.

Yelp
What an amazing find in the middle of a touristy section of Venice near Rialto bridge. Our family of four dined here for Christmas dinner at the recommendation of our concierge. We were specifically looking for a place with local Venetian food, and not too touristy. Bancogiro is it! There were many locals enjoying drinks and conversation outside the bar area. We were pleased also to find that the menu was a la carte, and not prix fixe for the holiday. We began our meal with a selection of cheeses and jams, the duck smoked ham salad with green apple, walnut, and horseradish, and a bowl of potato and porcini soup with seared scallops. The cheeses were good, nothing spectacular, but definitely not bad. Very typical plate for this region. The soup was fantastic! Everyone tried it and loved it, not a drop was remaining. The salad had mixed reviews. Our son and daughter loved the meat on it, but did not care too much for the salad. I loved the salad but did not like the meat at all. My husband did not try it. For our main courses, we had one order of black noodles with busara of folpetti (baby octopus in spicy red sauce), two orders of filet of beef with dried tomatoes, and one order of duck with chestnut stuffing (not listed on the online menu, but it appears to be a regular item according to the menu in the restaurant). The duck was simply incredible! Perfectly cooked and full of flavor, not dry or gamey at all, and the chestnut stuffing was a perfect complement! The two orders of filet were ordered medium rare and came out precisely cooked to that temperature. Great cuts of beef. The black noodles with octopus was a good meal, but not nearly as flavorful or enjoyable as the others. For dessert, we shared an order of tiramisu. It was a perfect way to end our meal. We have sampled many tiramisu on our trip to Italy, but this was by far the best. The mascarpone was creamy and mixed perfectly with the soaked almond biscuit, topped with a healthy dusting of cocoa powder. Simply amazing! The wait staff was extremely attentive, spoke perfect English which was nice for those of us with broken Italian, and did not rush us to leave even though it was a very busy Christmas day. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a local venue with fantastic food!! Not cheap, but not terribly expensive considering the food and service. Our bill totaled 180 Euro for 4 people.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible. Total tourist trap. Relies on its view of the water. Otherwise, you get, perhaps, the most rude and pretentious waiters in all of Italy. Terrible experience. An embarrassment to Venice.

Yelp
This restaurant is in a great location and has nice ambiance for a bite to eat or a glass of wine while enjoying the sights and sounds of Venice. However, this location loses stars due to the horrible service from the wait staff. The staff was not attentive at all and had to be flagged down several times just to get them to comw over once. We waited so long to pay that we had to get up and go tell them we needed to leave and pay right away. This place is good for food, drinks, and location, but not the service. Be prepared to hunt your waiter down to get their attention.
