Amazing Venetian food, not the typical Italian cuisine you’d see in tourist traps! Really cosy interior, however make sure to reserve a table as it doesn’t have a huge number of tables. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, I would definitely recommend!!

Quite busy restaurant. Cozy interior but a little weird decorations (Jack Daniel’s bottles are not Italian). Lady from service seems somewhat friendly but also a little stressed / annoyed. As she is alone, everything can take a bit longer. Menu limited, not a lot to choose from, but that can be a good sign, as they specialize in certain things. Risotto was good, fish was also OK, but nothing exceptional. After we finished our meal the staff was having lunch, so there was no one to bring us the check, we had to go up to the counter and wait for a while until they could spare some time. Would probably not return, even though everything was OK.

Disappointing Experience – they treat tourist differently than locals. We made a reservation for 4 & arrived on time. Unfortunately, we were seated in an incredibly cramped corner—so tight that two of us couldn’t get out unless the other two stood up and the whole table was shifted. Not a great start. Service started off decently, but things took a turn when the wrong risotto arrived. We had ordered two of the nightly specials: the squid ink risotto and baked sea bass. What we got instead was a mixed seafood risotto. When we pointed this out, our server seemed visibly annoyed that we insisted on getting what we ordered. Her response? “It will take a while,” said with clear irritation. After that, the service completely fell off. She never came back to pour our wine or refill water, ignored our request for extra napkins, and didn’t check in on us at all. The shift in attitude was obvious and uncomfortable. What stood out even more was the difference in how locals were treated. The woman at the next table, who mentioned she was from Austin, whose server prioritized locals who arrived after her. The contrast in service was stark. As for the food? It was just okay. Nothing memorable, especially considering the poor service. Sadly, we won’t be returning and definitely won’t be recommending this place. Venice has far better to offer in both food and hospitality.

We ate here on our second night in Venice and I found the service and food to be superb. I discovered this place while reading Rick Steve’s Italy guidebook. I had also passed it multiple times wandering around Venice. The grilled branzino was excellent. The house white wine was delicious and refreshing. The squid ink pasta lived up to its rave reviews from other eaters. It was not too salty and had great flavor and lots of squid pieces. I tried the stewed octopus as well. The quantity was small but I’m still thinking about how good the tomato sauce was. Definitely a culinary highlight! Service was exemplary and we left feeling very satisfied with our dining experience.

Google
Highly recommended restaurant! Today’s special — the octopus — was incredibly fresh and tender. Truly impressive!

Google
Wonderful traditional Italian restaurant. Lovely attentive service. Beautiful food. Fantastic ambience. Highly recommend! We had the fritti Misti, seafood risotto and Cuttlefish squid ink tagliolini (my fave don’t miss it) grazie!

Google
Great atmosphere as it was on the darker side instead of brightly lit. Small and more intimate than some others. Service, as is the way in Italy, was on the slow side. They don't like to take any drink orders till you have finished looking at the menu and are ready to order your dinner as well. We were used to this but some other people get annoyed that they can't get a drink first. Our appetizer was the house special of homemade ravioli with fish paste and a light red sauce - amazing. My partner had the homemade tagliatelle with pesto! Entree was a beautiful grilled Sea Brim with a tasty butter garlic sauce. Desserts were homemade and didn't disappoint with a Panacotta to die for and tiramisu! Very reasonably priced! One con was that it was extremely hot and stuffy inside, whereas it was sweater weather outside!

We had a great time at Osteria da Alberto today. Whipped cod was super good, very simple and very delicious. For the main dishes we have ordered squid ink pasta with cattle-fish and polenta with cattle-fish. Both dishes were great, but if you have to pick one I would go with the pasta. This was definitely the best squid ink pasta I have ever tried. Highly recommend this place. The service was also great

Yelp
We got a recommendation from Hotel Scandinavia to come visit here and this was definitely a must go! Typically you would need reservations before going but we ended up going during lunch and luckily we found a free table inside for 3 people! Most people inside are locals and know the owners and so this is definitely a local favorite. We were so tired from the journey on the Train we just wanted to eat everything! The half liter of wine was $8 and very tasty. We got the mussels first which was so fresh and so good I was obsessed and hungrier for more. Their seafood is definitely top notch. Although we were supposed to receive the octopus salad as an app I think it was given us later and it was super tasty and fresh as well. So yummy. Our mains were the veal and the risotto which Venice is known for and honestly it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Food here is so good. Honestly didn't know what the yellow slabs were but they are polenta :) simple and plain. Definitely get the risotto as it's filled with so much flavor and seafood goodness. It's a favorite for sure. I didn't know it would get any better until the cake arrived and wow this cake took the cake. Literally. Raspberry jam in the chocolate cake was so delectable and the almond flour on the bottom suited it completely. I highly recommend an espresso as it just melts away in your mouth. We spent about 3 hours here just eating and drinking also we got another half liter of wine. An amazing time to remember.

Yelp
My husband and I had an amazing dinner here a week or so ago. We were able to walk in and got a table inside at the back (thrilled to get in without a reservation, but FYI, they do not really have A/C, so it was quite warm back there). We ordered a carafe of the house white wine, I had the spaghetti with cuttlefish and squid ink, and my husband had a special, an angus beef filet. The pasta was unbelievably good - maybe my favorite meal of our trip - and my husband loved his filet as well. Prices were incredibly reasonable - proof that walking even 10 min outside the more touristy areas is worth the time. I can't recommend this charming, local spot enough. Thanks to Rick Steves for tip!

Yelp
If you walk to fast you will pass it but this little corner shop was everything and some. Food all of it was delicious. Remember make reservations for dinner & don't pass on dessert and wine. Service was excellent. Went twice

Yelp
To describe how much I love this restaurant, we started the first day in Italy eating at this local restaurant and will be ending the last two days of my trip eating here once each day. We had tried pasta everyday in each of the cities we visited, including Milan, Rome, Florence, and Amalfi. All are delicious in their own ways but something about this place has won my heart over. Perhaps it was the home cooked mom/pops style cooking which captivated me. Or maybe the uniqueness in the tomato sauce had me craving more. I had the pasta of the day which is spaghetti seafood in tomato sauce. The very first bite I took felt it was sent straight from heaven and almost made me convert my citizenship. Mouthful after mouthful of perfectly cooked spaghetti coated in light olive oil and tomato sauce topped off with soft and tender clams and muscles til the plate was wiped clean. And after the multiple times I've eaten here, I still can't get enough. Of course I can't end this review without a huge shoutout to the owner and all the staff working there for their hospitality and friendliness. The food and the staff here will be my forever one of the favorite topics to share with folks back home when speaking about my Italy experiences. As a piece of advice, to avoid disappointment in not being able to get a seat: either make a reservation or show up right when the restaurant opens.

Yelp
Great pesto pasta dish and the black squid ink spaghetti and spaghetti with clams were delicious as well. Check out their daily special and stay for dessert. For a weekday lunch, no reservations needed for us

Yelp
Everything was great! Beautiful local restaurant with excellent food and friendly staff.

Yelp
Walked by this restaurant just before they opened for dinner service and decided to see if we could get a table. We were told that we could if we could finish our meal by 8:30 which was almost two hours. Their food was excellent! We ordered a salad to share, the sardines and a couple of pasta dishes (seafood and squid/cuttlefish ink). Were going to order the seafood risotto but we had to order for two people, that would be too much food for two with the pasta dishes. Can't say it was the best meal in Venice because we didn't get the time to eat in many other restaurants but the pasta was delicious. The sardines were ok but not noteworthy. We ordered a jug of beer to share and a bottled water (pellegrino if my recall is right). The beer cost less than the water as it turned out. A place I would recommend and go back to if I have the chance.

Yelp
We arrived here per the suggestion from a local and had a really pleasant experience. We didn't have a reservation and it appears they were all booked out but the owner said he could give us a table for only 1hr, we accepted and they had us sat immediately. Everyone who interacted with us was so friendly and and the food was spot on. Despite not having a reservation and slightly limited time we never felt rushed and everything we ordered came out so quick so it ended up not being an issue at all. Kudos to them for going beyond for us.

Yelp
Just great local food. Went here twice and each time the food was amazing, the service was excellent and the price was on point (it's not as expensive as the three euro sign on yelp would indicate). My first lunch was one of the daily specials: Swordfish spaghetti and it was great. A ton of swordfish and really great fresh pasta. My second lunch was the spaghetti cooked in squid ink sauce. Just amazing and once again, a very generous portion of squid throughout the bowl.

Yelp
We reserved a table for 11 in this traditional Italian restaurant based on recommendations from my Airbnb host. I highly recommend you eat what the family ran business recommendations. It takes the pressure off. I had black pasta with mussels and LOVED it. I would have never ordered this myself. It was a surreal experience. Order the main of the day and a liter of the local wine wine.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant, kind of off the beaten path but well worth it. The fried seafood plate was tasty as well as the spaghetti and clams. If I ever come back to Venice I would visit this restaurant again.

Nina W.

Yelp
We enjoyed the most phenomenal food and great service. We will certainly be back the next time we visit Venezia!

Yelp
Off the beaten path, this restaurant definitely makes you feel like a local. We ordered the gnocchi, spaghetti with clams, a liter of wine and tiramisu and spent about 34 euros. The food was absolutely delicious and they were kind in understanding we didn't speak much English. The couple next to us ordered the taglioni with pesto and it looked amazing. We would definitely come back here again

Yelp
The freshest, most balanced, fairly priced meal I've ever eaten. Squid ink spaghetti with cuddlefish had the ideal amount of bite and sauce, and wasn't overly salty like most squid ink dishes. I don't know what magic the chef put into the octopus & creamy polenta, but it put me on the verge of tears. By this point in the meal, the panna cotta could have been frozen and spoiled and I still would have given this place 5 stars, but it was creamy, fluffy, and plated like a rose. This place will dish you a spectacular meal away from tourists that you will not forget. Book the reservation.

Yelp
Very long wait and was seated at a table for 4 when it was just the 2 of us and then was yelled at by the very rude manager for sitting at the table, it caused a scene very awkward for us, was moved to a new table. Took a very long time to order, double confirmed our order with the waitress, was still served the wrong, more expensive meal and was charged for it. Food was very average.

Yelp
We had the best meal in Venice here. We asked the staff for their recommendation and was delighted with the recommendation of the seaonal soft shell crab on available only in May and June when they are molting. It was heavenly!! The olive oil was bitter. Don't use it. I cannot believe there were so few reviews here inlight of the fact they have been opened 10 years. Perhaps it is so close to the bridge that one may overlool this delightful restaurant??

Yelp
First dinner in Venice, friendly staff and welcoming, made reservation prior to trip. Good menu options, decent food, but not outstanding to the tastebuds. Good wine selections.

Yelp
Nice little local spot! Loved that it was off the beaten tourist path. The locals were very friendly (didn't make us feel like we were intruding on their turf). The food was qutite good, the service was friendly... a nice place to escape the crowds.

Love this place kid friendly - not touristy .. took a bit to find but well worth the long walk

Yelp
We ate here based on Rick Steve's book. My husband ordered one of the specials which was spaghetti with small shrimp. Out of the 6 tiny shrimp that arrived on the bed of pasta with olive oil 2 were just the heads, one was broken in half and grey inside , 3 pieces had tiny over cooked pasty shrimp. We informed the waitress and she said sorry about that. We thought she would take the plate away but then she came back and said that the seafood in the Adriatic is like that. She also said that there is no meat in the head totally missing the point. The other three dishes were bland and just not tasty. The bread was stale , the salad greens were tasty and I dressed them with the balsamic vinegar and olive oil that was on the table. Tourist trap so beware.

Yelp
We had a wonderful seafood risotto here- the service was very friendly and some English is spoken as well. It is low key but also a popular local spot so reservations may be needed for dinner. Absolutely recommend giving it a try - I would rate this a solid 4 1/2 stars. They told us they could not take credit cards because there was a problem with the machine, so cash may be needed.

Yelp
Found this cute restaurant through Yelp and conveniently enough it was super close to our Airbnb! Ordered the spaghetti with cuttlefish, eggplant parmesan, sardines, rocket salad, mussels, stock fish two ways and tiramisu! We arrived with no reservation around 7 and was told that since we did not have one we would have to finish our meal in two hours; which is not a problem! The cuttlefish spaghetti was a little bland but with a little salt, it was perfect! Definitely would recommend!

Yelp
My wife and I stopped as we were getting lost in the city. Great place for an afternoon wine.

Yelp
Excellent fresh seafood, wine and flan dessert. Loved everything we ordered. I really wanted to go back, but time was limited.

Yelp
My wife and I stumbled onto this place. Super quaint and low key. They had excellent air conditioning, which is a big deal in August. Many places, even with air conditioning are still too warm. Super nice waitress with great communication skills. The gnocchi was amongst the best I've ever had and the steak was excellent. A little off he beaten path, but a great find!

Yelp
We were lost in Venice when the lights of this little place caught my eye. It was full of locals chattering away and it wasn't exactly welcoming when I did not have a reservation but I begged, telling them in my poco, poco Italiano that I very much wanted real Italian food. They found a table and sat us at the door, but when I asked for what the locals would eat, we were served the most exquisite food, anchovies and black squid pasta with black squid sauce. It was exotic, delicious and I enjoyed every bite. I sought out more black ink pasta the following evening but it could not compare to Alberto's. Now, find it if you can.

Preethi K.

Yelp
It's been more than 2 years since we went to Venice. But we still keep raving about the pasta we had @ Da Alberto. It was simply delicious ! The best pasta I've ever had :)

Steve B.

Yelp
Interesting food. For lunch, I had the special of the day and I won't get the name right so I will just describe: tiny clams and mussels with a tomato Parmesan cheese sauce. My daughter ordered the other special with a smoked Gouda cheese. Both were excellent. Moderately priced and tucked just off of a canal. It was about 100 meters from the apartment we stayed at. Nice!
