Osteria dei Fabbri

Not very expensive, traditional food, normal size portions. I had zuppa d'orzo which super mega tasty. Staff is attentive.

I got to know the restaurant a few years ago as a well-known osteria with good prices and good traditional food. Unfortunately it no longer has the same service, the same good food and the same prices as it used to be. The staff were completely overwhelmed, even though the place was only half full. It took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to serve the first courses, even for the children. And at least another hour of pause before serving the second. One of the waitresses was actually super nice, but they both looked exhausted and lost as it was their first day on the job. The portions were mostly quite large. But nothing compares to the quality expected from a traditional osteria. Without that is becomes just an overpriced average restaurant. Nothing special about it. No reasons to come back.

We had a lovely lunch here. A charming waitress translated all the menu from Italian to English for us, the food was amazing, so was the house wine. Encouraged by the positive experience, we even decided to order espresso at the end, like Italians do, and learned that it actually is a great way to finish your meal! Definitely recommended if you are looking for a local place with a relaxed vibe.

Had to wait 45 minutes for a bowl of bean soup. Asked if it would be long and the reply was "we have lots if dishes to serve". No "sorry" or "I will check and let you know"... my fault for asking! It took me 9 spoonfuls to finish... 10 euros. Not recommended.

We were greeted by the kindest most enthusiastic host which helped make our decision on where we wanted to eat. The resto is a bit hidden on its own so dont stress if you see its not busy, theres just too many restos to compete with, just gotta trust your gut feeling and we did! The food was prepped in house and came at a decent time. The wait staff were very kind. Wine good and inexpensive. Food was fantastic!! I strongly recommend

Another great find in Padua. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was very good and so was the service. Close to a happening bar just down the street. We really enjoyed our meal. We have been taking to ordering a first and second plate to split. The portions were large enough to do that. Very good food.

Nice mix of locals and tourists. The menu has local cuisine and the food is good. The staff is very friendly. It can be very busy here, so it can be useful to drop by a few hours before to book a table.

Even though we weren't quite sure of the menu, it being in Italian, with the help of Google translate we ordered we ordered bean soup, vegetable soup, rabbit and lasagnetta. Then tiramisu. Absolutely delicious.

I give 4 stars here, because the insalata caprese, the local wine from the colli euganei region and trofie al pesto genovese were pretty good and also to balance a bit the low rates from former visitors.. . I'm picky when it comes to pesto and mozzarella di buffala. In many places you get low or mediocre quality and taste, here it was good, not excellent, that's why I don't give 5 stars. The price of the insalata caprese was with 12.50€ a bit too much for the osteria and basically the same price and quality as in zurich downtown, which is one of the most expensive places...
