We loved this place. The appetizer and the main course were delicious on a very user-friendly price. The staff is really kind and all smile. We were lucky - it was not too busy therefore we didn't have to wait for our dishes. After lunch espresso was top, the tiramisu was not the best we have ever had,but still on the yummy side. This restaurant deserves the 5 stars, highly recommended!

When we came for lunch, every table in the multi-room restaurant was buzzing with happy diners. The waitstaff did an admirable job bringing dozens of orders hot from the kitchen and even though it did not look as if a table was available, the accommodating host found us a place in the warren of rooms. This is an old-style family-run trattoria, full of history and evidently beloved by locals. The menu is large and includes all the local specialties. Prices could not be lower but the quality is excellent. We loved the cavatieddi ccò sucu rì maiali and the generous bollito of veal. The wine selection offers inexpensive choices but the restaurant also serves some excellent Sicilian craft beers.

Wonderful family run restaurant with traditional Sicilian dishes. My wife , who is Sicilian, came because she wanted their tenerumi pasta, which was so good and I had their eggplant as a starter and then their pork ragu, so yummy. On top of their food, their service was amazing! We had dinner on a Sunday evening, unaware that taxis won’t be available. After trying to get us a taxi unsuccessfully, the young lady said she would give a ride back to our hotel! She was wonderful and we were so thankful to avoid an hour walk late at night. Thank you so much!

In four years of living in Italy this was one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever eaten! It felt like being cuddled by a true nonna’s cooking. The staff were kind and helpful throughout the night. I would highly recommend eating here to anyone and will be recommending it to all friends and family who visit Modica in the future.

Of all the restaurants I visited during my two-week long holiday in Sicily, this was my favourite. This is a simple, unpretentious, and inexpensive restaurant frequented by locals and tourists. I really appreciated the focus on traditional dishes made with "fava cottoia di Modica", a type of bean that is used by farmers as part of crop rotation (alternating with grazing areas used for grazing Modicana cows), and which used to be a stable of the local diet. The desserts are also worth trying (the gelo di limone I had was superb). The only downside to this restaurant is that it can get busy, and hence a little chaotic and slow, at busy times such as weekends. Unfortunately this was the case on one of my visits on a busy Saturday at lunchtime. Thursday lunchtime, however, was a lot less busy and I had a better experience during this less busy day.

Google
4 stars if for no other reason than they accomodated our late arrival on a Saturday for pranzo. The food was great. The service good. No complaints and a good house wine. Prices reasonable.

Loved this place - this is the kind of food we wanted to eat everyday. Popular with the locals, not expensive, simple and unpretentious yet very tasty and many vegetarian options. The eggplant lasagna was the standout. The Macca pasta (fava beans paste) and salad were hearty and tasty.

Was like eating dinner at my grandmother's (nonna's) house. Excellent food, close to tourist area, but enough of a walk to be more locals and less tourists. Unpretentious and a very good meal. All good was fresh and perfectly cooked. Recommend the homemade wine over a bottle.

Yelp
This is a popular restaurant in Modica and a great choice if you're unsure where to dine. They cater to a foreign customer-base with a menu in different languages and pictures of everything. It makes you wish every restaurant you go to had pictures! If you're visiting Modica, I do indeed recommend visiting Osteria dei Sapori Perduti for a satisfying meal!

Yelp
I had really high expectations after all my research for this restaurant pro-ported to feature recipes from forgotten flavors. And while it is certainly popular with the very large patio packed on a Monday night, for me the food and flavors were just meh. While prices were very reasonable, the quality and flavor of the food just didn't compare to other places we've dined on our week in Sicily. Again it was super popular with people who all seemed to be enjoying themselves so maybe it's just me or our menu choices but the pastas seemed very food-service, the bread was dense and flavorless and the entrees rather ordinary. This spots not for me.

Yelp
"Slow Food" in Modica. You can get all the Modica staples out here, but what you want to try out is the "Slow Food" items. Mind you, be a wee bit careful - Modica is more into heavy and meat-based items, so be sure to ask the waiter *what* you're getting first!

Yelp
This is a nice spot where you can try some traditional Sicilian dishes. The service is friendly but very geared to the tourist crowd. This is good and bad and it cuts into the feeling of authenticity but makes negotiating the menu a bit easier. the food was very good and the portions large. It is easy to overdo it. The antipasti can be made vegetarian as can some of the pasta dishes.

Yelp
Molto delusa da quest'osteria, più una tavola calda che un ristorante, molto turistico. Da evitare.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant in 2016. I stumbled into this restaurant because my American friend and I were starving and had not thought of the fact that most restaurants close around the time in between lunch and dinner. Lucky us! We were not the only ones apparently because we had to wait 30min for a table. They took us to our table which was winding up a winding level of stairs. The menu was large and luckily, they had a few different languages translated so I knew what I was ordering. The place is casual, it has checkered table cloths and perfect for family dinners. There were even a few kids toys in the corner which my bffs daughter even played with. We opted for vegetarian options as my bff does not eat meat. We split a vegetarian app plate and a bowl of eggplant pasta. I could not stop eating the pasta even though I was uncomfortably stuffed. It was seriously the best pasta ever. I still think about it. Please stop by this restaurant should you be in this region. Totally worth it.

Yelp
We found the food cold and bland. At least the sausage was cold. I don't understand the rave reviews for this place. I believe it's a tourist trap. We were exploring the city late at night and after buying some chocolate, the shop owner gave us an unsolicited spiel about eating here. After he sold us on the place, he called them up to save us a table and gave us directions. I don't know, I think tripe is way too traditional for my tastes.

Yelp
I don't know if I would recommend this restaurant, but my friends and I only came here because it was a suggestion that our local gave us while staying at her place. They do have an amazing selection of pastas and meat dishes (they give you a picture book to accompany their menu) that looked really delicious, but overall their service was just not up to par. Our pasta dish (we all ordered the 'I cavatieddi dishes; mines was the 'I cavatieddi 'mpastizzati with broccoli, ricotta cheese cream sauce & grounded sausage) came out very fast, but one of my friends did not get the meat dish we ordered, and our waitress did not ask us if we wanted dessert or anything else. I don't know if I may be reading into the Sicilian culture wrong that they do not approach you if you need anything else (please let me know if I am!) but the fact that they forgot one dish we were waiting a while for turned us off. However, this place seems popular among the locals and visitors. It has a nice outdoor ambiance. Seating fee is 1.9 euros, and when you're done you have to go inside the restaurant to pay.

Yelp
We ordered salad, pasta, chicken, mixed grill and pork in tomato sauce with bottle of Gulfi Nerojbleo It was 8 of us and we were seated right away.

Yelp
We visited our daughter's host family in Modica and they chose this restaurant. It was perfect. We ate outside under the stars and the festive lights crisscrossing the street. The food was plentiful and delicious. At the end of our meal the owner offered to take a group photo with his camera and then presented us with 3 souvenir copies of the restaurant's menu with our group photo on the cover.

Yelp
The menu is genuine local Sicilian cuisine. All the dishes we had were delightful. This restaurant is very popular, and booking is essential. The staff were busy, but we got looked after well. We had a selection of dishes, veal rabbit, ravioli, and eggplant pasta. Salads sides and desert were all good. We had the house red wine, beer and water. The bill came to 69.50eur which we thought was great value.
