Osteria del Campanile

We stumbled across this restaurant by accident and I am so glad we did!!!! We selected the homemade ravioli with spinach, ricotta and cream. This masterpiece was made to order while we sipped our wine and visited. We have never had ravioli this tender and succulent in our lives. Absolute perfection! One of the best meals I’ve had in Italy and one of the best plates of pasta I have had in a restaurant. Everything was fresh and homemade. We had the grilled swordfish and the spaghetti with swordfish, capers and olives. Everything was delicious and the servings were more than enough. Menu was very clear with English translations and allergens. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Excellent lunch for the family. I recommend the clams and spaghetti and the spinach ravioli. Rave reviews from everyone involved. It's a short walk from the port. Take time to visit.

I ordered the gnocchi, and the tomato spaghetti with basil. The gnocchi tasted like my mom used to make. Oh my God, I died and went to heaven so good.

My favorite restaurant in Messina. I visit the region few times a year and know this place since 2022. I am happy to say they did not change 😊. Everything I love this place for is still the same- welcoming and caring staff, cozy environment and the food .....beyond compare .....soooo..so delicious. Strongly recommend.

Awesome food, great setting service was amazing couldn’t recommend highly enough

We came off the cruise ship for a tour of the city today, January 3rd 2023. Our tour guide recommended Osteria del Campanile. So off we went to check it out. There were four tables outside on the curb. The one nearest the door was occupied by a group; we chose the table for four farthest from the door. A tall, slim guy in purple shirt sat us down. Then a younger guy in a white shirt took our orders. Meanwhile, the other two tables got occupied as well. Our appetizer came out first. But we started to wonder and feel anxious when the other two middle tables were served everything first. It took more than an acceptable wait-time for our orders to come out. We even asked the guy in purple why we were served last. He was really evasive and unapologetic for the delay. He even had the nerve to say that we were still finishing our appetizer. BUT, the other table also ordered an appetizer which was served together with their main plates. We could see them from two feet away! We insisted and asked again, and he boldly said that they were there first! We hope it isn't some discriminatory reaction from them because we're Asians and the other table had Caucasians. Anyway, the food was hot, at least. But the fettuccini noodles were not fully cooked. Even if al dente, there was still some hardness to them. Rushed! Cooked in a rush. Obviously. That's why it took them too long to serve our food. The quality of the mussels and clams was pitiful! The meats inside each of the shells were so small. The "runts" of the day's catch. And their risotto with mushrooms hardly had the fungi...overwhelming risotto over a measly amount of mushrooms which they placed strategically on top (dug deep and there was hardly any). Very disappointing experience by this local restaurant. The touch of the ugly from beautiful Messina.

For a delicious meal and Messina beer on tap, check out this awesome restaurant right near the duomo! My family and I had the seafood sampler which wasn't bad--probably would not order again. We really enjoyed the Pappardelle pasta though and I highly recommend that. There doesn't seem to be too much to do in Messina but if you find yourself here for some reason, I think this is the place to be!

We were visiting Messina for the day on a cruise. Stumbled upon this gem near the Piazza Del Duomo. Had the most amazing lunch sitting outside. If you're looking for an authentic, reasonably priced and delicious restaurant, this is it! Everyone was super nice and patient with us since the menus are in Italian. Enjoy!

Really a great place! Especially in contrast to the alternatives around! The food is really tasty and also the house wine is not bad. If you around you should give it a try. It happens that you find cruise ship officers there for lunch ;)

Authentic Italian restaurant away from all of the tourists! The food here is absolutely delicious! The prosciutto crudo is amazing!

Good meal in Sicily. I seriously don't even remember the names of the food that we got. Wife's meal - Spaghetti w/ spicy tomato sauce and various seafood. Me - Spaghetti w/ Swordfish in a tomato sauce. Both meals were delicious, but my wife's meal was far superior, and I found myself eating off her place too. I believe the meal was around 25 euro w/ a bottled water, so affordable and worth it. I'd dine here again for sure. They also have free wi-fi. My wife also left her iphone here, and we came back over an hour later. They had it there waiting for us and all was good!
