Very cheap and boiling with the bohemian nightlife of Bologne. Don’t expect a fancy place, instead of luxury you will find a crowded place with happy people drinking their beers. We had just a glass of Prosecco and left because we were tired, but the place is really nice. Walls covered by pictures and art that tell the rich history of the place. Totally worth it.

This hostelry only sells wine or beer. Customers are encouraged to bring their own picnics. Very friendly service. There is no sign outside, so it is necessary to research and/or ask to find its location. We bought our picnic from the small market in a parallel street and enjoyed eating it in the outside courtyard of Sole along with one of the five varieties of prosecco on offer.

Actually, no food is served there, but drinks only, local Emila-Romagna wines mostly. The oldest osteria in Bologna where you can bring your own food, enjoy local wines and rather basic seats 😃. But the walls tell the story of the place and it’s worth spending time there

We had a nice time here as part of a food tour. We brought our own food and tried a few different wines. The white sparkling Pignoletto was a favorite with our group!

Unique place, packed full of history. Great prosecco and wine selection and bring your own food. I'd recommend bringing a selection of the local ham and cheese varieties.

This was the best place. So authentic, loud, real, fun. No Spritz, no fake interior design, simply great wine and fun people. Everyone comes together here: students, business people, tourists... You can even bring your own food.

Definitely go !!! It is a local, no fuss no pretence bar. They serve a huge variety of wines by the glass as well as the bottle and beers. You can take your own food inside so you can buy from the market or local places and then sit in here with a glass or bottle to accompany. Staff are really friendly and helpful

I wanted to go there as it is the oldest osteria in bologna, but unlike most osterias this one does not sell food. The stuff was nice, but the place itself was smelly and filled with alcoholics and the atmosphere was just not that great overall.

Yelp
The oldest wine bar in Bologna, opened in the 15th century. It's been made famous by being featured on food and travel shows. Nothing new to add beyond what other Yelpers have already mentioned-- bring your own food, buy their wine, try to find a table. We visited with a food tour and tried one of their white wines which was refreshing and affordable. The next day, we tried to return the next day in the evening to find it quite crowded-- lots of locals and toursits who've also visited on food tours.

Yelp
Very old drink pub feel where you bring your own food. One of those old school pubs where you feel like your waiting for a brawl to break out, but never occurs just has that kind of a charm.. great pricing, wonderful location to enjoy local cuisine, and try some of the spirits and Wine of the area

Yelp
If you recognize this place, it's probably because you watch too much food tv like me. Definitely AB, STucci were here, plus at least a handful of others. So recognizable yet so authentically local and traditional. Get here on the early side when it's just the locals and the feel of the place. Many, many years of history to absorb hanging on its walls and in the air. So, if you don't know this place - it is a drinking establishment ONLY so you bring your own food. Snacks. That is the beauty of the place. Just walk out the door and you will have a potpourri of outstanding choices. Then sit down and enjoy with a glass of sparkling or wine or whatever you choose. A must experience in Bologna.

Yelp
Lovely classic Bolognese gem: great atmosphere, local folks and cheap but good wines!

Yelp
If you like BYOF (bring your own food) places, you should definitely try this one. They have a wide collection of delicious wines and a lot of them are not expensive at all. We arrived with my friends after taking a long walk around the city and it was refreshing to have some cheese and a few glasses of wine before we go to the apartment and rest. The place is comfy and they have lots of nice pictures on the wall. The shops are near so it takes only a few minutes to get some food and visit Osteria del Sole for a nice wine. Affordable place with a calming atmosphere, would recommend it for everyone

Yelp
This place is what you make it. A BYOF (bring your own food) joint with wine for sale. I absolutely loved it because the wine was cheap and generously filled, and we had such a fun time wandering around Bologna and collecting cheeses, meats, and breads to bring with us. The tables are communal, and some of the other parties were having potluck dinners which seemed really fun. It is a unique way to eat dinner with friends, and also a great excuse to visit the local shops and purchase bits and pieces of delicious snacks.

Yelp
I loved Osteria del Sole and will no doubt make multiple visits on my current trip to Bologna. The place reminded me of my favourite local pub from home in that it was old and unpretentious and had a wide demographic, from locals, playing hijinks, messing with camera phones when they really didn't look the type, and singing quietly over their white wine and the pile of cherry stones they had just devoured the surrounds of, to tourists, who, like ourselves, had probably heard of the place in guides to Bologna's go-to places but may not have found it so easy to find despite its central location (there are no signs on the front to say where you are). Not least, we were tempted there by Rick Stein in his recent-ish Long Weekend in Bologna. The decor is cobbled together with, what to me looks like, politically left-leaning posters and art pieces. You may share a table with complete strangers. There is no music, so conversation is the entertainment. The drink is very reasonably priced, with a round for two costing the same as what I'd be used to spending for a pint for one in Dublin. The beers are cold, as is the white and fizzy wine. One of the most unique places I've been to in Italy.

Yelp
A bottle of pretty good white Chardonnay for only €10. Get some ham and cheese from the deli around the corner, or bring in a pizza. A fun place to celebrate a birthday.

Yelp
a bologna institution. It's cheap and cheerful and bring your own food which is easily done as it is located right next to a big food market road.
