Osteria Il Cursore

Fantastic place 😀 I went for lunch at 12.15 and it was already lively. The Spaghetti alle Vongole was the best I've had and I really enjoyed sampling the Polenta e Baccalà alla Vicentina, with more than one glass of Pinot Nero (Tenutefosca). All excellent fare. Highly enjoyable experience all round.

Excellent food, extremely welcoming staff. Top class wine on draft. Highly recommended! (It does get really busy so book in advance!)

Traditional venetian restaurant in the middle of Vicenza. I tried the traditional baccala ala vicentina and it was amazing, the cream was amazing and smooth. For the starter, I had such a fish slice with bread. The hospitality was amazing here, the waitress always took care and asked us. The place was a bit hidden but this place is a must place to visit when you will be in Vicenza!

In the heart of Vicenza, this Osteria offers a good selection of traditional food, good bio wines and a warm and unformal atmosphere.

The food is functional, the bread unremarkable and the desert forgettable. The pasta with anchovy sauce was cooked to perfection. The antipasti of meat was nothing to write home about and the cheesecake was just fine. Try other things on the menu. Their speciality seems to be meat, which we didn’t have but looked good.

Do not even try… Naively attracted by the sign outside the door: “Osteria Il Cursore. Locale Storico” (boasting an historical heritage) I sat at a table. This place was so slow and chaotic that I had enough time to notice not only how dated and even abandoned this place is, but how dirty it is kept, clearly without any regard to hygiene and sanitation. Finally, it seemed that I caught the attention of a woman that resembled a waitress. She told me she would “eventually” be back. I never saw her again. In the meantime, I asked a man resembling a manager/owner to turn the A/C on since outside was about 35-37Cº (95-98+Fº) and inside the Osteria was an oven. He barked back to me that since the main door was open there was no need for that. Then I noticed the rough crowd in the Osteria. Very, very blue-collar locals that I am sure that, for generations, they have not known any better, and also the peculiar characters hovering around in and out the place (beggars and the like). Suddenly, I realized I should not be there.That was it. I cannot imagine what kind of food comes out of their kitchen while I am bearing a steaming room. I had had enough of this place and so I left. Do not even visit the area where this Osteria is located. You will be in a dangerous slum of Vicenza

I had the mushroom lasagna and my wife had the goulash with polenta. Both meals were near perfect. Flavorful and served steaming hot. Service was exceptional. Will most certainly be returning.

Authentic Venetian food, according to the locals who brought me here for lunch. Excellent food and service.
