All five stars! We had amazing time there, I love the combo of the dishes we ordered. They matched well in high quality and freshness. I enjoyed the vibe just sitting around the street corner, having wine and tasty foods with my lovely wife. That’s how the beautiful of the world!

I am a bit underwhelmed by Osteria Pico. The crunchy peppers had less taste than any others we have had in Matera. Weird that this simple dish can be “bad”. The mains, which was the cod in puréed peas, was fried in batter. We Googled photos of this dish, and none was batter fried. Not to say the restaurant can’t do their own thing, but for the price, this dish was a big disappointment. Desert was also not what we expected from a home made desert. It looked more like a store labeled desert. Meh tasting. It also seemed like the restaurant was understaffed. 2 girls running between tables in a full restaurant with 2 large groups.

My partner wanted to come here as he’s had a lovely time when he visited 10 years ago. What we experienced this time around was very underwhelming and disappointing. The staff were very lovely and friendly, but the food was not good at all. I ordered a pork dish, and the pork was raw. My partner insisted we let the waiter know, and the waiter offered to cook it again, but it honestly shouldn’t have come out in a raw form from the outset. Anyways, didn’t know Italian food can be so mediocre 🥲

Osteria Pico was a great choice. We ordered a variety of traditional dishes and liked them all. The freshness and flavours of the food were mouthwatering. Enjoying a nice dinner inside an old cave surrounded by nice paintings and good people was exactly what we were looking for. The service was great. We had Julia take care of us. Her kind smile hasn't left her face for a minute and she was extremely helpful. Thank you Osteria Pico

What a great place! The place, the atmosphere, the food, the service was impeccable. We are in vacation in southern Italy, and this is the best restaurant, the best meal we had in 18 days. Good job Osteria Pico! Highly recommended!

went on 20 December (friday) around 7.30pm the food was good. there are a lot of pasta shapes. the pasta dishes were good. the meat stew was a bit too salty. our server was really accommodating, she offered to sprinkle some pistachios on top of our dark chocolate soufflé when we were disappointed that they had run out of pistachio-flavoured soufflé and gave us another round of bread when we requested for it.

Yelp
We had an absolutely delicious lunch at this restaurant. It was our first day in Matera and it was a perfect first impression. We started off with the cheese appetizer which was a good way to sample multiple local cheeses. We then had the capocollo with mushrooms and pepperoni cruschi as well as the lamb entree. Both were delicious but the capocollo was particularly good. We also ordered a zucchini and apple salad which sounds like an odd combination but it worked! The salad had both red and green apples and some mint which made for a very well balanced and refreshing dish. Although we initially did not intend on having dessert we caved when our server mentioned the ricotta mouse with amarena, it was so good and we were so happy we indulged. The servers were very attentive and helpful in providing great recommendations for our meal.

Yelp
Nice space and really great staff along with hearty portions . I'd recommend splitting everything in two. Get two or three dishes and maybe dessert. The fava soup w chicory was good,, pastas too.
