We reserved a table by the window where the view was amazing! The food and dining experience was the best we have had in Tuscany on our six week stay. The lobster was prepared perfect and the pecorino cheese desert with honey caviar topping is to die for. But the best part was not the food, it was how amazing the staff is. Will definitely come back.

If u come for the view then sure, otherwise its a gamble. If u r lucky or perhaps if u r big spender, then u will be serve well with good food. Our experience did not begin well being serve by a trainee for a glass of overpriced brunello… We felt one of the staff did not really like us and gave us awkward experience from the very beginning. Now onto the food sure it was unique twist here and there but we were not impressed by the flavor. To be fair it doesn't taste bad and the plates are really pretty. Food was expensive but if it was good or at least service is friendly and attentive we wont mind it since they hv a really nice view. Also they had clause for “min 2dish ordering excluding dessert” Whole experience become worst when our spaghetti came undercooked. They offer to fix it by just cook the noodle to al dente and use back the previous meat frm earlier undercooked ones. For the price im paying i would expect better. Guess other restaurant is better woroth my money n time.

the view from the restaurant is indeed wonderful, but unfortunately the food does not match. our orders were as follows: starter: prawns with melon ice cream and red onion ice cream (this was the dish that surprised me the most as I thought the combination was different), tagliatelle with truffles (the dish lacked sauce and moisture…it was full of truffles) , however the taste of the truffles was not outstanding…I was disappointed…I imagined that it would be that Italian pasta with a juicy sauce is very tasty….but it was not.. The other dish was a tortelli stuffed with lobster…again we thought it lacked flavor and sauce. The tortelli was practically empty and lacked something to add moisture to the filling…unfortunately the taste did not live up to expectations. The wait staff were warm and friendly.

Please forget the negative reviews….impossible! My wife and I and her family had dinner there tonight and it was spectacular! First of all…the owner, Thomasina, is involved from the moment you walk in! He insured not only a great meal but also insured we had a very fun evening! The food was excellent and the desserts were even better. We enjoyed some awesome wines at a very fair price…all anyone can ask for! We have spent 6 days in Montalcino dining at the top rated restaurants and this was the best meal yet! Negative reviews are people who could not get in! …ignore and make a reservation! Michael from the USA …and a tough critic!

Risotto and gnocchi were delish, truffle tagliata as well. Owners and staff are friendly and have a typical Tuscan humour that we appreciated very much. Try and get a seat by the panoramic window - absolutely stunning!

The view is amazing and the wine selection was great. The vegetarian options are limited and the vegetable plate on the menu was not satisfying. The paperdelle dish needed a better sauce to bring it together. Would not highly recommend but if you really want the view worth trying other dishes on the menu.

Extremely friendly and well tailored menu, haute cuisine feel, as well an interesting wine list with a good diversity beyond the local producers.

Delicious food, wine, ambience and unbelievable view! Ask for a table by the window when you book.

Yelp
5 stars for the view. None for service or food. No amount of fancy plating and presentation will make up for the lack of soul satisfying good food. We made reservations online. We were met at the door by an elderly man who we assumed was the proprietor. He loudly explained to us in very condescending english for the entire restaurant to hear that we had to order 2 dishes each and that it would be more economical for us to purchase a bottle of wine than order a glass each. It was clear he judged us as low budget uneducated Americans. It was very embarrassing. This is our third trip to visit Montalcino. We usually come to stay for 1 to 2 weeks every 4 years because we love the place, the people and the wine, so this restaurant is definitely an exception to all our wonderful experiences in this lovely place. For the over $200 we paid for our meal, we suggest you try Re di Macchia to enjoy wonderful food and service for half the price instead. If it is a view you are after, then Belvedere definitely has better food, prices and service a few doors away.

Yelp
My husband and I visited Osticcio for lunch and a wine tasting several years ago while staying at our house in Sassofortino. Because of COVID we have not been back but I am recommending it to some friends who are going over next month. It was and amazing experience!! The food was out of this world, very unique and absolutely delicious. I can say the same for the wines we tasted and ordered to be sent back to California. We will definitely go back there, perhaps while visiting Italy next month. A real WIN in the wine and food department!!!
