Marvelous castle ruins, with a nice park. Unfortunately the interiors are not well preserved and it looks like they used it during 70s/80s... and left it abandoned after that. Apparently drones are allowed and I used mine upon their confirmation.

Castle looks like something straight out of a fairy tale. The castle's grounds are dotted with unusual sculptures that add a touch of the surreal to the picturesque setting. The castle's historical significance is equally impressive. It’s fascinating to know that prominent figures such as Tito and Vladimir Nazor once walked these halls, adding an extra layer of depth to the experience. The juxtaposition of its fairy tale architecture with the slightly eerie sculptures and its rich history makes Ostrožac Castle a unique destination that’s well worth a visit. And the views of river Una are to die for. 👍

It's sad to see this place falling apart, just seeing the ruins alone made me visual how beautiful it used to be. But now it was empty and filled with scribbles on the walls. I couldn't go to the basement because the room that led me down was filled with bats. I wish they would invest in better care, maintenance, or even restoration to this place.

The castle is in perfect location, it has a parking place too. You have to pay the entrance fee, therefore you can go anywhere in the castle area. Graffiti and crumbling walls inside the main buildings. Climb the castle wall just at your own risk, we went up. It can be seen that the castle is in ruins. It's not problem to us, because we like the ruins too. It's a piece of history. The full castle was beautiful before, you can see the memory of it's beauty. We had a great time and would love to visit the castle even in it's renovated. Thanks for all!

The castle dates back to the 13th century when Ostrožac was part of property of the noble house of Babonić family. In 1592 it was captured by the Ottoman Empire and established as an Ottoman province of Bosnia. The castle was rebuilt between 1900 and 1906 by Major of Bihać Lothar Von Berks as a birthday present for his wife, member of the Habsburg family. It’s sad that it is not maintained and walls are broken and people with there name on walls , they should invest to renovate it and I am sure it will be a great hotel

Nice castle in bad state; it is special that despite the situation you are free to visit all rooms, absolutely worth visiting. Paying in EUR is possible (EUR 2.50 due to the conversion rate :-)
