Otahuna Lodge

For me, Otahuna Lodge is one of the best places on earth to stay. Everyone from Otahuna family is genuinely caring, attentive, and welcoming — you feel entirely happy and blessed from the moment you arrive. The philosophy behind the gardens is wonderful, the grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the house itself is stunning. I also can’t forget to mention the food — the breakfasts and dinners were outstanding, perfectly paired with great drinks. Such a unique, delicious, high-end gourmet experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Otahuna Lodge is a triumph of personalisation, service excellence, classic accommodation and gastronomic greatness. You feel the warmth, love and care of the staff and the location from the moment you arrive and when it is time to leave it's like farewelling a very old friend. Our suite was spacious, comfortable, historically authentic to the period of its construction and with all of the appropriate modern touches expected of a luxury lodge. Housekeeping is a like a personalised valet service with a range of surprising touches all aligned to exacting standards. Service from the entire team throughout our stay was so warm and genuine. This comes from the owners, managers and team leaders who have created a culture centred around personalised service excellence. It was wonderful to see it in operation and of course very impactful to experience this as a guest. It is rare and something to be both admired and commended. There are simply not enough superlatives to describe the food, especially the evening service. Jimmy and his team source local produce, including from their own market garden and deliver course after course, night after night of outstanding dishes. The dishes are wholesome yet incredibly sophisticated, there are layers of hidden complexity masked by cookery magic, to delivery outstanding quality with flavours of the highest order. Easily the best food we have eaten across any of the lodges in New Zealand. We are already planning a return visit, hopefully with our best friends, where we can introduce them to the magic and intimacy of Otahuna Lodge, Christchurch. Magnificent.

This was the highlight of our stay in New Zealand. Every touch, every extra surprise, support and service. The food was amazing. The staff were wonderful. It’s a 10 on a 5 point scale. We will be back. Next time, we will stay for 2-3 weeks

We checked in on October 6th 2025. What an extraordinary experience this was!!! Many thanks to all the wonderful staff at Otahuna Lodge for their kindness & hospitality. Making this such a magical part of our trip to New Zealand. The lodge is beautifully preserved from it's history. Every meal was outstanding. The chefs used mostly what they grow on the property to create masterpiece dishes. It truly is the very definition of "a one of a kind experience".

This Lodge is an exquisite and exquisitely cared for historical New Zealand treasure. Once the largest home built in NZ, it is now home to 7 of the most luxurious rooms in Queenstown. We were upgraded to the Rhodes suite thanks to our Virtuoso travel agent, Molly Nunnelly of Heirloom Travel. Apparently, this is where King Charles stays when he visits the south island of the Commonwealth! What a suite: a turret sitting room and an office space bookend the ultra lux bedroom and original fireplace. Evening cocktails set the mood for your personal 4 course meal featuring chef Jimmie's exotic combinations of fresh proteins and Otahuna grown vegetables. Stunning. Their wine cellar is second to none in all of NZ - included. The perfect place to start or end your NZ visit.

Everything about Otahuna Lodge is first class - six stars. The location of the property, the entrance which just sets the scene for what is going to be unbelievable experience. The greeting by the owner and staff is professional and welcoming - every detail is taken care of from taking luggage to the room, parking the car and being offered refreshments. A tour of the lodge just excites the senses - beautifully restored and wonderfully relaxing. Everything is personalized right from when you book through to arriving at the lodge. We had the pleasure of staying in the Rhodes Suite and couldn’t have been more impressed - pure luxury in every detail. I’ll run out of superlatives in describing the ambience, the food, the wine, the lodge and the wonderful owners and staff that bring it altogether. We will return for another visit and highly recommend Otahuna Lodge

I am sorry but 5 stars is not enough. 20 plus stars are more like it. What can one say but AMAZING.. Miles & Hall your team are fantastic. We had a fantastic time and still have to pinch ourselves that we got to stay in your wonderful Otahuna Lodge.

After a long day’s drive from Queenstown to Christchurch, we were warmly greeted by the owner and his incredibly kind and thoughtful staff, setting the tone for our stay.||||As we checked into our room, it felt like stepping into a luxurious summer cottage fit for royalty. The attention to detail in both the design and guest experience was extraordinary. Every corner of the lodge radiates warmth and sophistication, with each of the seven rooms elegantly decorated in fine taste and of the highest quality.||||One standout feature of our stay was the exceptional laundry service, a welcome treat after a road trip. The meals—both breakfast and dinner—were nothing short of extraordinary and included in our package. Each course was paired with wines from their exclusive wine room, which we had the pleasure of touring privately.||||The meals featured fresh vegetables picked daily from the garden, truly enhancing the dining experience with locally sourced, seasonal flavors.||||We were also treated ourselves to private massages in the serene garden area, adding a touch of relaxation to our stay.
