Google
Great quality offered for bread, deli meats, cheeses, etc but trust me, you'll pay for it. Expected avocado on my $15 sandwich to be seen; it's a "spread" -- look for it. While I'd love to go back for bakery items, the staff was so grouchy and somewhat rude on 6/2 that I wouldn't waste my time or hard-earned money here again.

Google
Would give 3.5 Stars. Cute little sandwich shop and bakery with a lot of menu options, including vegetarian options. Sandwiches had nice flavor, but bread wasn’t great. The Rainbow Veggie Sandwich was more unique. We also got the Lemon Pecan cookie, which was pretty tasty. I would go back again for lunch or a sweet treat.

Ordered two Reuben’s for breakfast, they were out of the Russian dressing to go on top so we were asked if Dijon mustard would be okay, sure not a problem. Waited 10 more minutes got our sandwiches to go, should have checked them there as when we got home both Reuben’s had no Dijon dressing of any kind, sandwiches were thin. Thankfully we had sauce in the fridge. Over all so so.

We passed through Middleburry on our way home to WNY and stopped for a quick breakfast before continuing on. The staff was very nice, building clean, and the sandwiches and baked goods amazing. We would for sure stop again if passing through!

Google
Delicious and incredibly fresh. Don't leave without grabbing a cinnamon stick. Holy cow-perfect. Had the cheddar and bacon panini on sourdough. Really well made. We will be back.

Google
This place is somewhere between a 3 and 4 … the food is fresh. The bread is so-so. It would probably taste better toasted. Also, we ordered ham & cheese croissants. They warmed one up and gave the other cold. Weird place.

Google
Fabulous local bakery. These are very serious bread bakers who also do great pastries, panini, and coffee. I had a cortado and was *not* disappointed!

Google
Lovely breakfast. I ordered an orange almond croissant, delicious! The coffee is good and strong. (The way it should be.)😊

Steve L.

Yelp
Ham and cheese croissant. That's all you need to know. Now that you know that, I will also share that the otter paw, apple strudel, any flavor scone, and even the premade breakfast sandwiches in the little takeout case are all excellent and fresh and delicious! Friendly fast service with a smile is always nice also !

Yelp
i went on a sunday around noon and ordered a vegetarian banh mi and chocolate pinwheel. it was VERY busy when i went and i had about a 45 minute wait. people who ordered after me got their food first, even though my sandwich was just vegetables (this is my reasoning for giving 4 instead of 5 stars). the food was REALLY good, with fresh vegetables and flavorful pickled vegetables. the bread was fresh and tasty. the chocolate pinwheel was also very good. if you're looking for a sit-down place, though, especially during the winter, maybe pick another place as they have limited indoor seating. overall i would definitely recommend going here, but maybe try to avoid popular times if you don't want to wait as long as i did.

Brigid S.

Yelp
The food and service is great. I love everything that I have had there. I've lost track of how many times I've been.

Sofia S.

Yelp
The smells emanating from this bakery onto the street always entice me and I finally made a stop into this quaint little spot. Space is tight so it's best to know what you want before you get in there, but the employees are super friendly and everything was delightfully tasty!

Jaclynn W.

Yelp
Great pastries, sandwiches, cookies, and coffee. If you need a snack, breakfast, or lunch, you can't go wrong. We had the veggie panini special, caramelized onion and mushroom stuffed croissant, and got a variety of assorted sweet items to go (the whoopie pies were incredible!). The bakery was clean and the staff were very polite.

Ricardo S.

Yelp
First time visiting and had a wonderful experience with a fresh orange almond croissant and fresh dark roast coffee. Staff was pleasant and quick. Great to be able to sit outside during great weather. Will be back.

Shani S.

Yelp
Pretty much every single thing I have tried here has been fantastic; from the otter paw, to the coffee, to the cookies. The employees are so nice and so friendly and ready to answer any questions you might have. The place is nice and clean, with tables throughout outside on different deck and porch areas. The staff will bring your goodies that they warm up out to you and do it with a smile. The only issue I had was with the ham and cheese croissant. The croissant was SO good (perfectly flakey and buttery and YUM), but there was zero cheese in it. It had all melted out. So, I had some warm ham in a croissant, which I don't find tasty at all. I gave it to a friend, so it was enjoyed. I would reccomend trying wrapping the ham around the cheese and seeing if maybe that would help? Another person in our group got the same thing and they had a little crust of cheese on one corner of their croissant, but that was it. But don't miss out on this spot, seriously. That's the only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars - it's definitely worth a stop in and enjoying the variety of scrumptious goodies they have!

Yelp
Yummy pastries! It can get crowded sometimes inside but that's to be expected! Make sure if you don't like the way vegan or gluten free pastries taste that you look at the tags because I accidentally ordered a gluten free pastry one time lol! The bread is very good and the danishes are to die for! Super cute ambience in the spring/summer!

Charmaine D.

Yelp
I had the Vermonter sandwich and it was mainly lettuce or watercress. Not filling at all. I also had an apricot and ginger scone which had more apricot than ginger. Nice outdoor seating and location.

Marsha B.

Yelp
The people who work here are incredibly rude and the food ... well, I got a tuna wrap and the wrap was so stale it was breaking apart. Crispy. Asked for a knife and fork to eat at least the inside and was directed to TINY plastic forks and knives that were useless. Was told that "real" silverware wasn't available to customers! Is it available only to staff? Middlebury College Alumni? Only rich people? Christ. Not the first time I've had an unpleasant experience here when I questioned ANYTHING. Never again.

Yelp
We were staying for the weekend on Lake Dunmore and it was my wife's birthday. Not a big fan of supermarket cakes. Maybe because of they have about 37 ingredients, one worse than the other. The chocolate cake from Otter Creek was excellent! Moist, tasty, a small fed 8 with a little leftover. The mushroom croissant was also tasty! Happy wife, happy life.

Leslie A.

Yelp
Cute place with outdoor seating. Sandwiches are delicious and generous portions so bring your appetite!

Marissa R.

Yelp
Friendly employees and a huge selection of pastries and sandwiches. My boyfriend ordered coffee and a coffee cake, and we grabbed a puppy biscuit for our dog. I came back for lunch and ordered a vegetarian sandwich on sourdough, which I forgot to ask for toasted! Cold, it was mediocre/soggy and I only ate half. I toasted the other half later at home and added some Tofurky Deli Slices, which was wonderful and super yummy. I would definitely recommend for a quick breakfast/lunch/snack!

Natalie A.

Yelp
We felt very lucky to find this gem for lunch when visiting Middlebury, Vt yesterday. They have a great selection of sandwiches to choose from that are healthy and delicious. There is plenty of outdoor seating which is great during the pandemic.

Sangeeta L.

Yelp
Delicious egg panini, I get it at least once a week. I always add vegetables and it's a chefs kiss. Cookies and pastries you can never go wrong with. Stick with the food and pastries the espresso is not where it's at.

Doc B.

Yelp
Had lunch here with my family on the advice of a local resident. The baked products looked good, although the breakfast pizza on display looked pretty skimpy and unappealing. If I had cooked that, I wouldn't be proud to display it. The selection of sandwiches was small, and the combinations were not always appealing. The bread in our sandwiches was good, but the young staffers did not have it together. An order for a salami sandwich was, first taken as "salmon" and, when it did come out, there wasn't much salami. When we complained, they fixed it, but how do you send out an order like that and expect a satisfied customer? More adult supervision seems called for. If cuteness is what you're looking for, maybe this place is for you. If you need a place that can reliably put out good food, skip it.

Lisa B.

Yelp
We stopped here on the way back from camping and it was just what we needed. Nestled in the tiniest little college area, this bakery had good breakfast sandwiches for us to eat and run. The coffee didn't have the best selection, but it was good enough. Would highly recommend the Vermont cheddar and ham croissant!

Gus S.

Yelp
Great organic coffee and an awesome selection of baked goods. Staff was very friendly.

Maddie K.

Yelp
Great option in middlebury and close to campus. The breakfast sandwiches are really nice. I also tried an iced chai latte that was pretty good. The outdoor seating options are also great during the summer. I recommend a stop here!

Katie M.

Yelp
Fantastic sandwiches and delicious baked goods. Yummy maple cookies. There is some outdoor seating under a tent.

Kristin V.

Yelp
Amazingly cute little place. Coconut macaroons were LOVELY. One of the best places in middlebury for a sandwich and coffee. And you can't beat their cute little otter logo...

Ryna D.

Yelp
Good local bakery in Middlebury. We stopped in here one of the days we were in town. It's obviously a local favorite and it was quite busy but we did manage to get a small table and stay for a bit. The folks behind the counter were all very friendly. We tried a few things including their signature otter claw.

Vicky M.

Yelp
We've been eating here for 30 years! At first, it seemed the new owners were changing the decor, but the food stayed the same. We visited yesterday to get our favorites -- a Greek pocket and Hummus pocket and they were out of pita's (the 2nd time that's happened to us). Bakery cases were empty, no bread, and the cookie I got was easily a third the size of what it used to be--and I think it was the same price! Ended up getting a sandwich on bread that was sliced so thin it fell apart as we ate it, and was almost totally lettuce. The entire experience was very disappointing. My husband and I both agreed we will NOT be eating there again. Sad.

Marieke S.

Yelp
Cute little bakery complete with a multitude of baked goods, paninis/sandwiches, and drinks. I highly recommend the Vermont Maple Steamer- steamed milk (of your choice) and Vermont maple syrup.. yumm!!

Harry P.

Yelp
What an adorable little bakery, nestled in the cool town of otter creek. They are super friendly here, and everything looks delicious. I got a maple danish that was insane, rich, dense with a touch of maple. They also have otter paws which are a hit with the kids.

Julia W.

Yelp
Got an amazing egg and cheese on a croissant- super fresh tasting croissant, and amazing service. They even brought it out to my car because I was isolating for Covid and were super accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend!!

Cameron C.

Yelp
Got the coconut macaroons as well as their Vermonter sandwich on French bread. The cheese on the sandwich was great and the bread was the perfect French roll. Friendly staff and relatively quick service. Great spot for lunch!

Marie D.

Yelp
Worth a trip even if it's out of your way! Take out with a few tables. Great sandwiches & baked goods.

Roy R.

Yelp
Excellent gluten free baked goods!!! Hard to find gf treats and even harder to find gf that's actually good but we tried 3 things (including an outstanding maple scone) and all 3 were great.

Eden H.

Yelp
Huge sandwiches tasty tasty tasty. The Vermonter is truly great- crunchy veggies with goat cheese! Highly recommend any sandwich on the menu!

Richard N.

Yelp
Wonderful little bakery if you are looking for a coffee as well as a ham and cheese croissant. Couldn't stop with the croissant and also grabbed a piece of coffee cake. Both were great

Veronica W.

Yelp
We came in for breakfast by chance. It is absolutely amazing. We had ham and cheddar croissants, artichoke pesto crostini and famous otter paws. Everything was delicious. Love the store, totally exceeded our expectation!

Nicole G.

Yelp
Now, this is an adorable little bakery! Huge selection, everything looks very good and enticing. I got some vanilla butter cookies, a homemade peanut butter oreo and a blueberry scone for tomorrow morning! My hubs got a chocolate chip cookie. Service was also talkative and quite friendly. Someday I'll come back for a sandwich, coffee and try out the otter claw.

Dakota R.

Yelp
Great spot for bakery breakfast. Fresh loaves of bread, chocolate croissants , fruit muffin of the day are always a go-to. During COVID-19, call ahead, place your order, pay with a card, pick it up at the outside table. Great (albeit limited) outdoor seating. Sometimes, the staff do not answer the phone when you call to order and seem bothered if you call back or let it ring. This morning, I ordered four fruit muffins of the day and received four fruit tarts--they were good, but not what I ordered. We want you to succeed during the pandemic, and want to support you as a local business, so please get it right after asking customers to jump through all of the hoops to place a $30.00 order. Thanks!

Kelly T.

Yelp
We went for dessert and returned for breakfast. Hands down the best apple crisp ever! Oh if I lived closer I'd be back weekly if not more. Well worth the visit!

Julie I.

Yelp
Since I'm gluten free, a bakery stop is sometimes frustrating. However, my husband wanted sweets so we checked it out. After looking over the extensive selection of tarts, cookies, and cakes, I got back to reality and decided on the large tomato bisque with fennel and eggplant. It was rich with lots of other veggies and was not as salty as most restaurant soups I've had. It was served with great smelling buttery croutons-which I gave to my husband. They had sandwiches and other items besides the amazing pastries.

Laura N.

Yelp
This is probably one of my favorite places in Middlebury. They're always very friendly with prompt service. Their food and sweets are amazing and worth the trip. I visit a few times a month and am always impressed with their customer service. If I had an event that needed catering I'd definitely consider hiring them.

Samantha H.

Yelp
Great fresh baked pastries. Love the ham and cheese croissant served warm with a hot latte.

Samantha L.

Yelp
Otter Creek Bakery is a family owned cafe that sells caffeinated beverages, bottled fruit juices, sandwiches and paninis, salads, and baked goods. They have a variety of fruit tarts and cookies. My family ordered two coffees and a chai latte. After ordering my chai latte, I saw a sign advertising a Maple Apple Cider Latte topped with a maple meringue kiss so I asked if I could change my drink order and pay the difference. Since they were making the chai latte, the young lady at the counter had an attitude problem and didn't want us to change our order. The drink wasn't advertised on their barista menu but rather up high behind the counter. Th Maple Apple Cider Latte tastes like coffee to me - there was no apple cider flavoring. Since it was too early for dinner, we ordered a few cookies - Maple Raspberry Jam Cookie, Maple Butter Cookie, and Chocolate Butter Cookie, all of which were delicious. My favorite was the Maple Raspberry Jam Cookie, which resembled a thumbprint cookie. I loved how this butter cookie filled with maple syrup infused raspberry jam. I liked how the butter cookies had a hint of orange zest.

Yelp
My bf and I entered, overwhelmed and excited by the selection. There were so many different pastries and we couldn't decide for a while but ended up getting some kind of tart, a bear claw kinda thing and an almond croissant (yeah, I feel fat just thinking about it, lol). I also got an iced americano and he got an iced chai. My americano was fine, not great, and disappointingly, his chai was just the tea bag variety, which was watery and not very flavorful. The pastries.. oh, the pastries. How can you go wrong? ..well, they did. Neither of them really tasted very good. Everything was very dry and even the tart didn't have a nice pastry cream but a very thin layer of what was supposed to be pastry cream, followed by a dense, brick of a tart. We felt guilty for all the calories which weren't even worth it. So very disappointing.

Georgia B.

Yelp
Whatever + good location + private lot parking - uninformed & poor help [ I guess it's very hard to find good help here] - high prices [more than DC at a much better bakery] +small but cute outdoor seating Poor service was a total turn-off. I spend my money where it's appreciated. The baked goods are decent but this place ain't soup Nazi worthy to put up with ***** service. I much prefer Provence Bakery in Brandon for their croissant and the drive is worth it.

Isis N.

Yelp
Super charming little bakery in the heart of this college town. Went twice with my friend, since their veggie sandwich were delicious. At lunch time they can get crowded, so be patient. First visit I had the veggie sandwich and second one the hummus sandwich in pita bread. Both excellent. Their sweet treats are crowds pleaser. The best part? You sit outside and enjoy the pleasant Vermont summery weather.

Ann M.

Yelp
I prefer my sandwiches to be made without rotten watercress, thank you. Also, your staff is less than friendly. Would not recommend this place.

Susan M.

Yelp
While traveling, we stopped in for lunch today. The paninis were great! Be aware, however, that the inside seating space and also overall customer area is quite limited. It was lunchtime and very crowded. Customers had a difficult time maneuvering around one another. My husband and I ended up eating our paninis in our vehicle, as the inside of the bakery was packed and it was too chilly to sit outside.

Greg Q.

Yelp
Another stop at one of the "soy free" spots in Middlebury today. We grabbed a sandwich, a couple of coffees and a breakfast pizza. Good food and service.

Matt R.

Yelp
Great selection of pastries, fresh breads and sandwiches. Excellent coffee. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Riley B.

Yelp
If you want to try one of the tastiest sandwiches, come here and try their vegetarian. The cheese is so delicious and the vegetables used here are so crisp and fresh. The tomatoes are surprisingly amazing! Great atmosphere too and lovely seating area outside

Robert C.

Yelp
What a cute little place, chock full of interesting foods! Fresh baked breads, pastries, soups, cheeses, and sandwiches. Powered by solar, no less. Had the curry red lentil with coconut milk soup. One of the best soups I ever had. Thick, not too spicy, not too salty, lots of lentils and carrots. Fantastic. Then shared a Panini made with local cheese, grilled apples, onions and spinach on fresh house-made bread. Delicious Why can't we get a little place like this back home? Lots of seating outside but only 8 seats inside, so take out and enjoy!

Sophia P.

Yelp
Was very dissapointed. Got the roast beef sandwich and there was literally only 2 slices of beef that were paper thin it was 90% veggies and bread. I also asked for sour dough and they gave me white bread . The chocolate croissant was heavy, there wasn't thin flakey buttery layers it was thick layers and the corners were basically like bread. Not worth it for the price too.
