Wonderful visit family run hotel -we were rescued by the wonderful Ellie when another venue cancelled 2 rooms from our group of ten .They couldn’t have been nicer and the meals were great . Dinner and breakfast were super. Close to the Petit Chateau for wedding-just across the road. Lovely aspects in beautiful grounds.

We stayed at Otterburn Castle as a family of six. We needed three rooms and on booking we were given rooms near each other.|The castle and grounds are beautiful, the evening meal was lovely and breakfast was filling. This is a family run hotel and staff were delightful, welcoming and very accommodating to our needs from start to finish. This was a lovely stay. I definitely recommend visiting

Impressive building and surrounds. All set up for Halloween. A friendly and considerate reception. An open fire in the hall and we were quickly shown the layout of the building and taken to our room. Very relaxed and friendly guests in the grand dining room. A reasonable menu selection and the wine menu was inclusive. The waiter was very good and the portions acceptable. My burger bun was badly burnt and this ruined the meal. The salmon course was perfect however. We had a pleasant drink in the bar area with an open fire. Breakfast was excellent. The castle grounds are well cared for.

On arriving at Otterburn Castle I was impressed to find such a building in the middle of a small village. We unpacked our car and were met with what can only be identified as a sunny disposition/welcome in the form of Alex. Being a family run business we came to learn that being on reception was part of his duties along with helping out during meal times. He was courteous informative and helpful throughout our one night stay. After unpacking we came across Ellie the proprietor of the castle. As with her son, extremely helpful willing to please. All mixed up with a piece of feeling that you had just popped over mams to spend the night. As with Alex, Ellie was quite chatty and keen to get to know her customers as well as giving a bit of the background on how she became the castle owner. This made us feel all the more welcome. After walking out for a short while we returned to our spacious, wooden clad, well equipped room. All of the features were in keeping with castle which made it all the more special. The evening meal was outstanding! We both had steaks and were impressed both presentation and taste. In conclusion our visit was great. I would recommend anyone to visit. Whilst they run on a skeleton staff (being just Alex, Ellie the chef and a house keeper you would not think so. Ellie, Alex and the chef thanks for making us feel so welcome and looking after us on our weekend away. We will return!

Tnis was a return visit for us, slight mishap with the room being a bit cold but this was quickly remedied.||We always book the same room upstairs, very large, four poster bed. It isn't fancy like the other place in Otterburn but there is beautiful linen and a very warm welcome.||It is comfy and laid back don't expect glitzy bathrooms etc.||The restaurant and the main rooms have real character and the restaurant isn't open to the public. The food is very good, we had an excellent dinner.||Good choice at breakfast too.

Room and restaurant were perfect but the thing that was most impressive were the staff. Outstanding service and couldn’t have been welcomed and looked after any better. Very impressed.

I had planned a long weekend away so had booked this in the expectation of a pleasant weekend away. On arrival at the hotel our initial impression was good, the outside appearance of the hotel with its castellations seemed to make its mark, the receptionist who greeted us was friendly professional. Our room initially seemed OK however on closer inspection we had to ask the staff to change the hospitality tray as it hadn't been cleaned properly in days (it wasn't just remnants of detritus from the previous guest). The Bathroom was in great need of a thorough clean and update (again I had to ask in the morning that the bathroom be cleaned including the black mould that must have been there for weeks). I had assumed Digital TV had reached Otterburn however unfortunaltley our TV only got 4 channels so had to suffer CBBC's or T4 in the morning (never thought I would have missed Andrew Marr in a morning till then) not that I go away to watch TV but sometimes its nice to catch up with events in a morning. We ate twice here once in the Stables bar and the next night in the Hotel Restaurant both times we enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. Breakfast was fine, however it would have been better had one member of staff notice and removed the rotting apple (yes I did say rotting) from the fruit selection on the breakfast bar. After my partner removed it and left it on the side it still remained there throughout the rest of the morning. I would say that on the whole the hotel is understaffed and although all the staff who were there are pleasant and helpful, the maintenance and standards of hygiene are well below expectations. No I will not be returning here !!!
