Ouanga Bay used to be the spot for spending relaxing weekends back in the day. I think with a little TLC it can be restored to its former glory. The beach is waaaay too rocky. If you don't come prepared with water shoes, you will have a miserable experience. The management should see about removing the rocks. What happened to the white sandy beach? The food left much to be desired. I doubt it was prepared by a Haitian chef/cook, as it was very bland. Best thing we had was a freshly caught crab grilled and prepared by one of the local fisherman. The "ajoupa" in the water is still beautiful and an excellent place to dine or have a drink. The rhum punch, made with passion fruit and Barbancourt Rhum gets 5 stars. ***** I did not spend the night so I can't comment on the accomodations.

The Good:||||First, let me say that the owners who are usually present are the best folks I have met in Haiti. They are intelligent and just genuinely nice people. The staff had much better customer service skills than my previous hotel (Club Indigo).||||The Not So Good:||Several folks in my party had issues with scorpions. I found one in my bed, one fellow found one is his shoe, another guy had one under his pillow and in his shower. This is just nature and a part of being anywhere these things live, but if you are in any way allergic to stings, make sure you're prepared.||||The room I stayed in needed some TLC. The paint was peeling and much tape was required to seal things up from the mosquitoes and other plentiful bugs that live here in Haiti. ||||The water in the sink and shower appears to be a mix of salt and maybe some fresh water...but, mostly feels and tastes like seawater straight from the ocean. There are times when the water does go out.||||Power is normally supplied by a generator and is not always present. That means no AC, fans or lights during the day sometimes. This is generally not an issue at night and they make every effort to have power on by dark.||||My particular room had no TV, phone, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, or anything other than a bed really. I did ask for and receive a small desk and plastic chair.||||There is no gym, exercise room, etc.||||BUT...the hotel has a nice little deck restaurant and bar area...make sure you order at least 1 hour in advance. The little beach is nice and so is the view...and the price was very good. ||||Finally, be aware that elections in Haiti are supposed to be held on the 24th of January...that means there will likely be some civil unrest that leads to blocked roads and an uptick in crime. While the hotel is safe, be sure to plan accordingly for transport to and from Port au Prince so as to avoid missing a flight, etc. ||||The hotel also keeps two dogs in the back that tend to bark during the night. Bring a set of earplugs if that type of thing bothers your.||||In the end, I would say this was good for me in my situation and I was happy with the hotel...but, just be aware of the above and know what to expect before you go!

We stayed here for five nights and we're looked after like royalty almost. This is not an American or chain hotel it is privately owned. Some bits are a little worn, but when you take the earthquake into account this is wonderful. The bar and dining area built over the sea is excellent and the staff kind and attentive. As we don't speak much French, communication is fun|The food is excellent and the rooms clean and most comfortable. |

The atmosphere was great. The staff was very accommodating. For Haiti it is awesome. AC was great but room was minimal with furnishings. No tv in room. But beach and bar/outdoor dining was GREAT!!!!! Would def visit there again when in the area.

Once the beach that attracted this hotel and many others - plus many private homes - was lovely, we were told. Now, because of violent river flooding caused by deforestation, this beach is rocky. The shore is now pebbly and the seabed has cobble-sized rocks hosting black spiny sea urchins. Wear water shoes.||||The rush mats on the weathered wooden beach chairs are tattered and the probably once splendid rooms and common areas show their age. Soap is the sole amenity.||||A bright spot is the thatched-roof, over water dining area. Here the beer is cold and the food and service surpass the otherwise lackluster ambience. ||||Still, this place has a sense of the area’s former glory, and the accommodating owner does all within her means to make her guests feel welcome.

Amenities were perfect. Our medical team had just finished many days in Cite Soleil. Wahoo Club would not accept us even though we had reservations. I guess we did not look rich enough or clean enough for them. Marie Florence took one look at us and rented us two beautiful rooms. The team was able to rejuvenate at Ouanga Bay Beach hotel, it was an absolute blessing. My hat is off to you!!

Over promised and under delivered. Staff lied about fish and lobster being available on the menue when we tried to order they only had fish. The bathroom has an odor that’s indescribable. Front desk unable to tell you at arrival if there will be lobster or fish on the menue.
