"De Wallen: Amsterdam's Infamous Red-Light District It's one of Amsterdam's prettiest districts, where swans glide on tree-shrouded canals and gabled mansions recall Holland's Golden Age: de Wallen, better known as the Red Light District (RLD). Since 2000, prostitutes have plied their trade here as legal taxpayers, drawing tourists who come to buy, gawk, giggle, and window-shop, Amsterdam-style. While the number of windows has declined since 2008, when the city launched an initiative to replace 50% of them with chic boutiques over the next decade, the area still draws packs of mates on holiday, couples strolling arm-in-arm, giggling hen groups and busloads of camera-toting Japanese tourists. Whoa to the shutterbug who snaps a pic of one of the ladies; it's strictly verboten and could cost the clueless photographer a camera. In addition to seductive girls flaunting their natural assets in eye-popping, barely-there outfits, the RLD's cobbled streets are lined with peep shows, adult toy shops, and naughty cinemas. Watch live sex onstage at Casa Rosso or Moulin Rouge, or opt for a budget version in booths offering two minutes of live erotica for €2. Other popular hangouts include the Drunken Sailor and Banana Bar, where half-naked girls indulge in such tricks as writing postcards without using their hands. However you enjoy your time in the RLD, watch your belongings. While the area is heavily patrolled by police, bodyguards, and mounted video cameras, pickpockets and hard-up junkies abound, waiting to catch you unaware."

Great location in the heart of Amsterdam. Not only is it in the middle of the Red Light District but it's also a stone throw away from all the major sight-seeing locations. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops in the area as well.

Yelp
Very good bar in the Red Light District. I felt right at home here. Almost all of the customers were cool except for one loud mouth from England. Nobody in the bar liked him.

Yelp
If you are looking for a rock bar in the Red Light District this place is pretty cool. I thought the service was OK typical for a dive bar I guess. They were playing American alternative and rock music there. Anyway, cold shots of Jager on tap and Budweiser bottles, fully loaded! The end. Bathrooms are located upstairs and just a note they have pool tables up there. Had a fun visit while in Amsterdam! The guy bartender could be a bit more acknowledging to patrons, wasn't that busy at the time but whatever. They were training a new girl too and she seemed nice. Cold beers & good price! Cheers~

Yelp
Located in the heart of the Red Light District, Excalibur offers super cheap drinks and a rockin' good soundtrack with zero pretention.
The vibe is rock n roll biker bar, all the better to knock back €4,50 tall bottles of Grolsch, €3 shots of jenever (or most other liquors), or for those settling in for a while: 4 bottles of Heineken for just €10. This isn't a big spot, and the seats at the bar fill up quickly. There's more room and a pool table up the painfully narrow stairs.

Yelp
Tremendously disrespectful bartender that was unwilling to accommodate foreigners; a gross outlier to the overall Amsterdam experience. Excalibur is a skip.

Yelp
Cool biker kinda bar. The decor is great.
Friendly service and good prices. Lots of good music pumping through the speakers.

Yelp
Great bar. If you are American and looking for a classic shots and beer dive bar with metal/rock music from the 80's/90's this is ur shit. Highly recommended before you hit the res light district or during to continue ur adventure!!!!

Yelp
Awesome stop in central Amsterdam. We had some excellent whiskey and awesome fun service. Pool tables upstairs as well as the restrooms. Bartender was a blast

Yelp
I had a great time here! Full on metal playlist (but not so loud you couldn't have a conversation), Harley Davidson decor, pool tables in the upstairs. Reasonable drink prices. Staff was friendly, and patrons had a good local vibe mixed with tourists. Definitely a good hang out spot with plenty of seating.

Yelp
I had a damn good time here.
After navigating my way out of several clubs blasting techno I was ready to give up and give it a night.
MegaDeth wouldn't let me. As I walked back to my hotel I heard the distinct sound of Dave Mustaine murdering his guitar and it piqued my interest to say the least.
As I approached this bar with covered in a mural with swords, fire and bones painted on the outside I knew that I wouldn't drink at any other bar for the rest of my trip.
The beer is fairly priced as are the mixed drinks. They have pool tables upstairs.

Yelp
Closes before the bars in Los Angeles in the summer? What planet are we on? What country am I in?

Yelp
Damn interesting place they offer plenty of cheap shots like most of the venues in the red light district. I'd have to say the venue looks like a heavy metal venue but don't fear going in here the staff are friendly honest and like you have a great time and not take things to seriously. Certainly a great place to stop for some cheap shots and some cheap beers.

Yelp
I had a couple of pints here while waiting for friends. It's a heavy metal rock bar, dark, loud but friendly. The bartender puts out a very friendly vibe. I enjoyed drinking here and occasionally watching the crowds outside wander by. I'll probably go back. It seemed like a bar I'd hangout in.

Yelp
Metallers! Go to "The Cave Rock Club" instead and save yourself the disappointment! They only serve one beer on tap which is Heineken, and that's a padlin right there! Poor predictable selection of "hard rock and metal", insanely long bar wait (2 people serving with like 8 customers and it took me close to 20mins to get a beer, I'm Australian so that is like incomprehensible when barstaff at home can handle like 30 people single handedly in 10). Bonus was the decor is awesome and the location was very central to the red light district.

Yelp
Had fun drinking beer here on a cold rainy day. Played pool with some of the locals. I'll definitely go there again If I ever make it out that way.

Yelp
When I visited Amsterdam I had 24 hours to kill in an unfamiliar city before my buddy from London came to join me. Excalibur was right around the corner from my hotel in the center of the "red light district." After wandering around and scoping out my options I ended up choosing to have a few pints at Excalibur a Heavy Metal / Biker bar that gives off a friendly vibe. I ended up spending 5 or 6 hours there talking to the bartender and random patrons. I met a really drunk, but cool guy there that took me back to his place to meet his wife (and dog) before we all (dog included) went out to a nice upscale dinner. Excalibur is a really cool place filled with really cool people!
