Visited this very famous church right in the heart of Panaji on 11/11/2025, couldn't go inside due to renovation work going on, just before last flight of stairway we were stopped by a lady informing us about renovation but offered us candle (₹25/- each) so we took two, lit it and came back down as photography is prohibited up here.
People say It's beautiful during evening sunset time.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Goa, with its pristine white Baroque facade and grand zigzag staircase, symbolizes the Virgin Mary. Built in 1609 over an earlier 1541 chapel which was built for Portuguese sailors arriving in Goa, it houses the famed Augustinian Bell (The Second Largest in Goa) It was moved from the ruins of the Church of Our Lady of Grace in Old Goa in 1871.
Its simple interior features altars to Mother Mary, Jesus’ Crucifixion, and Our Lady of the Rosary. A Goan cultural icon near Fontainhas, the church shines brightest during the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th.
Cultural Significance: The church is a significant cultural symbol and has been featured in several Bollywood films due to its picturesque architecture and scenic location. The area around it is a hub of Goan culture and is close to the historic Fontainhas (Latin Quarter).
