"A tour of Inuvik’s highlights should include Our Lady of Victory Church, better known as the Igloo Church: The silvery, snow house-inspired dome structure is a striking sight from the outside, but be sure to also take a look at the interior, decorated with paintings by Inuit artist Mona Thrasher."

We arrived just in time for the last tour of the day to the dungeon (basement) of the church. The kind guide showed us the jacks that are currently holding the church up, the foundation is sinking due to permafrost melting. The jacks are temporary solution and they fear they could only prevent the inevitable for so long. He gave us a round tour of the church afterwards, the regular one. Showing all the arts, the ceiling, the pillars and the stage. It’s a holy and peaceful place to be. Hope they can preserve it.

Happy to see its Igloo representation as a temple of worship. We learned about the making of the church and its current state in our detailed guided tour. Fortunately for us our tour was off the normal regular hours.

A MUST VISIT if you are visiting Inuvik. If you have time to partake in the 30 minute tour, it's helpful to understand the history.

Great place to celebrate the holy mass of you are a catholic. But all are welcome. I believe it is the only catholic church in the town of inuvik. In the weekdays if you went yo the church in three evening before the holy mass, you get to participate in small tour of the church.

What a lovely and unique design for a church in this wonderful little town of Inuvik! It's unfortunate I didn't have a chance to see the inside while here in November.
