We spent 3 nights in Lyon in September. Arriving by car was a bit tricky. When you drive by to drop off the luggage and then do a pick-up when leaving, you essentially block all traffic for a few minutes because the street is so narrow -- no other way around that, but most people are quite tolerant. There are underground parking garages within a 10-15 minute walk where you can leave your car during your stay. You can walk all over Lyon, or take the metro -- excellent transportation (but have plenty of Euro coins -- no bills accepted!)||||This large apartment is very interesting, an old silk-weavers workshop. Very tall ceilings, home totally remodeled in a very innovative, contemporary way. Karine is a lovely, warm hostess who seemed to enjoy practicing her English once we started talking. She gave us many interesting ideas for our explorations around the city. Delicious pastries, breads and homemade jams for breakfast, but no yogurt or any kind of protein -- this was a purely French petit-dejeuner.||||We had room #3 on the upper level which was quite large with a nice modern bathroom . There are large windows, low to the floor which open out onto the courtyard (no bars or balcony so the room is not really safe for young children). The one thing we truly missed was a fan-- it was quite hot during our stay and the air was completely still inside the house -- we realize many Europeans do not use fans, but some flexibility and consideration when it comes to guests' habits and requests would go a long way. ||||The location of the apartment is wonderful for exploring the city. There are so many places you can walk to, so many good restaurants too. We will definitely return!
