What a nice treasure this bookstore is. Kids each got a book and I did too, loved the decor, intimate and inspired. I'm a sucker for a good nature vs man book and they really setup the store to highlight those books. Can't wait to go again and learn what other books in this category I haven't heard about... :)

Adorable bookshop with lovely owners. Stopped in for some postcards (great selection btw) and left with a fantastic book recommended by the owner. Book was "Tomboy Bride: A Woman's Personal Account of Life in Mining Camps of the West" for anyone interested in historical life and times of the area.

Awesome book store, the people behind the counter are what make it even better. They had to move since we were in ouray last but thankfully found a new location, it’s even better than the last one however it’s kind of hidden. Call them if you have trouble finding it but definitely worth a visit and chat with the locals who work there

Absolutely fantastic store with the nicest independent owner! Must stop if you're in Ouray, CO! My niece loved the National Park Stickers that I found here...much more than just books!

Great local own store, we go every time we visit Ouray. The new owner has chance the store a little, but it has only made it better. They have a great selection for such a small store, including maps, cards, tons of local content, and even things for the kids.

My sister and I stopped in this bookstore to get out of the rain while camping just outside of Ouray, and we had a hard time leaving! It just has great vibes: cozy, colorful, lots of places to sit and read, easy to navigate, well labeled, and a great selection! I love a good local bookstore, and this one is fantastic! The owner is so friendly and easy to talk to, happy to provide recommendations, receive recommendations on books to stock, or just chat about things. He helped me find the perfect gift for my significant other, and gave us recommendations on things to see and do in Ouray and surrounding locations. They are open until 9pm, which is great for night-owls and people who work until 5 or 6pm. In addition to books (obviously) the store also stocks a fabulous collection of stickers, maps, postcards, some very cool paper-quilled cards, cards that contain seeds that you can plant (!!!), games, notebooks, and other accessories for the bookworm/nerd in your life. It would be very challenging to walk out of this store empty-handed... Come for a book. Stay for the vibes :)

The new location for The Ouray Books store is a gem. (6th St below Mouse's Chocolates) What a fabulous find! The new owner Pat is not only super friendly but he and his staff are very well versed in helping with all things reading and books. I found a collectible Jane Austen book that is almost too pretty to read. Ouray Books has moved from the Beaumont to 6th Street under Mouse's Chocolate shop. It is THE perfect location as it is a cozy hidden gem and Pat has done an amazing job making it welcoming and cozy.. Make sure and stop by to get books to read for your vacation, some to take home or collectibles to enjoy. One thing that I loved is that you can contact Pat or his staff with any book you are looking for and they cab order it for you! Much more personalized service for all your reading needs. There were not only rare book finds but also many unique gifts. A bonus is to walk around the shop and read the poems on the wall. Pat the owner of the book shop is the Poet behind them! Priceless Bookshop in a Fairytale Town such as Ouray is.

We had SUCH a great experience at Ouray Bookstore! Now this may seems like an overly ecstatic response to a visit to a bookstore, and normally I would agree. But this place blew us away! First of all, we walked in and saw the most beautiful bookstore we have ever been in. It has all been recently redone and looks fabulous. There is a wide selection of books, from bestsellers to local authors to children's books to cookbooks to guide books. There is also a variety of cute little gifts, greeting cards, and stickers. So far so good, it was a beautiful store with a great selection of books and other goods. What took it over the top was that the owner offers coffee to drink while you browse the books and FRESH BAKED COOKIES his wife had brought in (they were delicious). The owner was extremely friendly and helpful if we had any questions about the books or Ouray in general. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend a visit to tourist and local alike!

This is such a beautiful bookstore. They have something for everyone. I went in looking for The Dictionary of Lost Words....which they had!!! I also bought a book about Chernobyl I had never seen before. Great selection of bookmarks. My daughter walked out with 10 Little Monsters Visit Colorado. Such a cute, however a little dark, book! They told me it is one of their best sellers! The older gentleman that checked us out was very friendly! They had books with the name of which employee read the book and suggests it to others. Surprisingly I have read most of the suggested books. I could have stayed there for hours, but my pocketbook told me I better not!

Love this bookstore. Every time we go on vacation, I explicitly shop at a local bookstore wherever we're at and I am never disappointed. Lovely man running the place today. Such a great atmosphere and awesome selection of everything!

New owners, and they're great! The shop is beautiful and well-maintained. The shop is located right on the main street as you enter from the north, and is impossible to miss.

This place is fantastic! They carry a large selection of current events, mountaineering, and local history books. Had a great conversation with the owner while I was checking out. It's worth checking out!

This place is wonderful. So homey, the owner is so kind and lovely to talk to. Great selection of unique and locally applicable books as well as a few cute journals, stickers, etc. all in all a great stop for book lovers. Highly recommended.

Under new ownership and richly remodeled, this warm and beautiful book store is a treasure for those of us in Ouray. Welcome to Ouray Amy, Brian and Charlie! Who can beat their hours? Open 12 hours a day, seven days a week! The selection for all ages is amazing.

Adorable shop. Love being able to support local bookstores. Displays had great recommendations for different categories. Love that it's in an old historical building. The man working there was very friendly.
