Out Of Bounds Hotel

I loved our stay here, Marvin was very helpful with bringing up our entire house (luggage) to our room. The plants on the property were beautiful and the staff were wonderful.

Out of Bounds in Escazú, San José, is truly a **hidden gem**. From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome and smooth check-in made us feel right at home. Our room was **spotlessly clean**—basic but had everything we needed, all in perfect working order. The **stunning views** from the balcony and the upstairs terrace were such a treat, and the hot water in the shower was a nice bonus. The area felt **safe and secure**, which added to our peace of mind. Breakfast was a delight—**freshly made**, with delicious orange juice, and the lovely host went the extra mile by offering us coffee as well. Her warmth and hospitality truly enhanced our stay! What stood out most was their honesty and integrity. After we checked out, my little one realized he had left his Christmas family money in the room. We rushed back, worried, only to find that it was still there, untouched and waiting for him. That level of honesty is rare and so appreciated! We’ll definitely stay here every time we visit San José. Thank you for such a wonderful experience—this place is a **beautiful gem**!

The place is nice and clean. But do to no maintenance on the trees the wind blew the trees into the top of the roof extreme loud banging all night. Absolutely no sleep. The staff and breakfast were great

We had a short stay of 4 nights at the hotel, in a 3 person room. We've had a good global experience as the personel was very nice. Ideally located nearby the city center though if you like walking take a pair of good shoes. 🙂 The tenants of the place are really charming and professional.

We had booked a standard room with a queen bed and got upgraded to a much bigger room without additionnal charge. They have very modern decorations in the room, which makes it very unique. They have parking on site (very limited although, so make sure to resquest it during your reservation). The room was clean except for a few ants in the bathroom and in one of the beds (that we didn’t sleep on). The bathroom was spacious and had hot water. The staff was very helpfull as well. Our room had a nice view of San Jose. The breakfast was served from 7:30 to 9:30 and was great! We had 3 options from the menu (rice and eggs, pancakes and eggs or fruit smoothie). I strongly recommend!

This is a hotel that calls itself a "boutique hotel" and it has nothing like that! At first the service was good, but when they gave us the room it was dirty, the TV and air conditioning controls were not working, the rooms had ants everywhere, the coffee maker had old water, stagnant who knows how long ago. But my fiancé and I decided to stay because of the location, it's the only good thing it offers. The breakfasts are the same every day, and out of only 3 options they offer, some days they only had 2 or 1. It is NOT at all the breakfast of the photos!!!!. There was one day I asked for salt to put on my eggs and they told me they didn't have any...they were in a kitchen, how is that possible!!???. Anyway, we were still there because of the location. The icing on the cake is that yesterday, we scheduled a tour that would take us a few hours, so we would have to return to the hotel at 12 pm, to which we were told that we could not leave our things because check out was at 11 am, otherwise we would have to pay another night!!!! All hotels give 1 hour or even 30 minutes extra for courtesy, and check out was at 12 pm!!!! We had to put up with so many things and in the end they can't even do us a favor no matter that we are tourists!!!! If you go to Costa Rica, it is better to pay this money in an American hotel or another one that has real quality standards!!!!

I love this hotel and always stay here when I am visiting San José (from Norway). The rooms are beautiful and very clean. A terrace outside with lovely views of San José. The breakfast is great, with a lot of options. And Fernando is always very helpful and in a good mood. We always feel very welcome here. The hotel is centrally located in Escazu, with a good range of restaurants close by. An ok place. I waited for at least 15 minutes outside for someone to open. Called their number, rang the bell and no one came out. A guest just happened to walk out and I was able to get in property on my check in day. Parking is pretty bad. Location doesn’t really have any walkable attractions. A few rooms have a view but I was given a room with zero windows. They won’t clean up your room for the entire time of your stay unless you ask I guess. Service was ok. Breakfast was good.
