How to Plan a Ski Trip to Mammoth Mountain

"Settle into one of the cozy fireplace suites, cabins, or resort chalets at Outbound Mammoth, located steps from downtown Mammoth Lakes, a town that exudes winter charm. The historic resort now sports a contemporary aesthetic, with western-inspired textiles, warm wood accents, and in-room ski racks made from reclaimed timber. Spend time with your fellow snow fans at the Americana-inspired lobby, which comes with leather chairs and rawhide stools for fireside cocktails. And if you need a quick bite, find it at Bar Sierra, the resort's modern American restaurant. Best of all, you're just minutes from the mountain, making first tracks a must." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Staying at this hotel felt like pure luck. It genuinely made our entire trip so much better. We actually spent two nights at The Village Lodge Mammoth and two nights here, and honestly… I kept thinking, why did we even pay so much to stay at The Village Lodge? From the moment we checked in at Outbound Mammoth, the vibes were immaculate. The staff was incredibly friendly and even upgraded us to a better room than what we originally booked, which immediately put us in a great mood. Everything about this place was on point—the bar, restaurant, pool, and overall atmosphere were flawless. The location was also a huge win. It’s even more convenient than staying near the Village, with amazing restaurants and grocery stores just around the corner. We’ll absolutely be staying here again next time—no question. Already can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely wonderful!! We had the best time here. The staff was incredibly friendly and so welcoming. The entire hotel and grounds is dog friendly and our golden doodle had the best time! The restaurant on site is delicious and the wine bar in the lobby was outstanding with premium wines. Will be back!

Room was great for our family. My wife and I enjoyed the king bed cabin. Nobody above us or shared walls was a plus. My son loved the heated pool and spa. Leslie and Brett were very informative upon check in. Bar Sierra was awesome and relaxed place to watch the World Series. Poke nachos and Lamb Shank were great. Will and Chris were there both nights and provided great service.

We only tried this place because our regular spot wasn’t vacant. What a great find! Myra and Leslie at the front desk really made it a great stay for us! |We will definitely come back. So many wonderful amenities. Very updated rooms and bathrooms, but still very cozy and traditional chalet style. And it’s dog friendly! Great service, too!

Loved our stay here! The lobby was beautiful with a massive fire pit and amazing wine bar. The rooms were very cute. Saw some mixed reviews online, but this hotel is perfect for location and a nice bed and place to stay. Would highly highly recommend.

I stayed at Outbound Mammoth last weekend with my best friend and am still reminiscing on the amazing experience! The location is what sells this place. Within 25 minutes you can drive to the most beautiful lakes Mammoth has to offer, hike breathtaking trails, and enjoy a small home town vibe. The rooms are cozy and have a cabin aesthetic. They were very clean and quiet. I felt it was worth every penny spent. Especially during the fall when the trees are yellow and orange and the weather is perfect.||Aside from the gorgeous nature, what made our experience so memorable was the customer service. Our first Friday evening at Outbound Mammoth my best friend and I went to the restaurant located on property where everyone had a big smile. We shared the steak and it was amazing! After this, we went to the bar located aside the lobby. The atmosphere was so relaxing with music playing from a record player and a beautiful fireplace. It was here that we met a bartender named Chip who greeted us with the best energy and welcomed us to the area. He gave us great recommendations for things to do around the area including a hike up to Parker Lake, checking out the natural hot springs nearby, and enjoying a nice walk to Convict Lake. He is also very passionate and knowledgeable about wine and gave us a lesson on proprer wine tasting. He is the reason we will be back to Outbound Mammoth, his customer service was remarkable. And the wine was amazing, the best Pinot Grigio I have ever tried!

Google
The concept seemed awesome. But our fireplace was broken, the shower barely worked, and to top it all off -- even the phone was broken. And it seemed like there's one 8-person hot tub for the entire property? It was certainly full on a January night!!

I loved the hotel, and the experience, but I really want to highlight a staff member - Debby Hildebrand. I had no intention of staying here as I was driving from Vegas to Reno, but got stuck here in a snowstorm. Debby went OUT OF HER WAY to help me, including making sure my dog Peanut got treats. She kept checking the weather/roads for me the next day. She offered late checkout. But the icing on the cake - the following morning, she offered to take me to a local thrift store in her personal vehicle so that I could find chains for my car and save money (I have a Mustang, no chains, and don't know how to put them on). She knew exactly how to help me find the right ones, I saved a TON of money by going to the thrift store too! Then when she told me I needed to have some cash to pay the "chain monkeys" to put them on if needed, I asked where the closest bank was so I could withdrawal some cash. She opened up her wallet and gave me cash so that I didn't have to go to the bank!! (Don't worry, I venmoed her back). Debby was LITERALLY my angel during this stay, and in the crazy weather circumstances, I don't know how I would have gotten home without her. I travel about 50% of my life, and I don't think I've ever had an employee at a hotel be that amazing to me! If I could give her 10 stars I would. Debby is the BESTTTTTT!!!!!

Yelp
How do I love Outbound Mammoth, let me count the ways...Seriously, this property is the BEST. Since our first visit two years ago, we are now on our 7th stay! I wouldn't consider lodging elsewhere. What I love about this place- Location - Central & easy access to all lodges. Yet away from the crowded village. Price - excellent bang for your buck. Unlike other options, you're not getting robbed for a sub-par experience. Service - the staff is beyond friendly and accommodating. Professional and efficient while maintaining laid-back, chill vibes. Amenities - pool, hot tub, gorgeous bar, cozy fireplace, complimentary coffee (that's actually good!). Gives you all the mountain ski lodge feels. We have stayed in just about every room type they have offer. I prefer the cottages and condos. New construction and clean! Thank you, Outbound Mammoth! We can't wait for our next stay.

Yelp
Comfortable stay. Slight "old room/motel" smell but wasn't where we needed to switch rooms as it didn't linger as long. And i'm pretty picky when it comes to lodging stays/rooms too. Had mini fridge and microwave in the room which was convenient if you brought food to warm up before hitting up the mountains. Tea kettle in room also to warm up water for coffee and tea! We somehow got an accessible room but didn't bother to switch so there's no space under neath sink to set your own toiletries in so not sure if their standard rooms had space for that

Yelp
We loved our stay at outbound mammoth! You can tell they recently made some improvements/renovations! The lobby/wine bar area is so nice!! Tons of fun games near the inside fire. Also great fire pits throughout the property and they do give you a small s'mores kit for free. The best part though is this place is SO dog friendly. They even have their own mini dog park and give dogs treat at check in! I would 100 percent stay here again and I'm pretty picky. can't wait to return!!

Yelp
Stayed in this hotel when I visited Mammoth. They have a variety of rooms: regular double bed, single house, apartment style etc. I was staying in the main hotel. There is a fireplace, board games, bar, tables and chair in the lobby area for guest to hangout, eat, or lounge. The lobby also has hot water and coffee available 24/7. It was very cozy in the cold weather. There were often times musician performed live music as well. Hotel also has steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, pool, outdoor fireplace, and a bar within the hotel. I enjoyed using their steam room. There were towels available outside for guest to use. Staff is very friendly. I am glad that I stayed here.

Yelp
From time of check in to check out the staff was amazing. The ambiance is modern rustic. Very fitting for mammoth. The room was comfortable and clean. We were only there overnight. Got in about 4. Napped and went to their restaurant for dinner. Looking at yelp to see the menu it was quite confusing. I thought they had bbq menu. When we got there it was burgers mostly. They weren't very good. I don't know what they used on the bun as a spread but I ate the patty and it was better alone. There was a country line dance demo class and it was loud. I do have a fave restaurant in mammoth. Always my go to. I tried somewhere new and regretted not going to my favorite place. Next time. But I'd stay here again.

Yelp
Employees are very friendly. Room was very nice & updated. Didn't have time to explore all there was to offer, but the resort was pleasant.

Yelp
Do NOT stay here. Luckily we only booked one night here as we were camping the following evening. We arrived around midnight and they took awhile to assign our room. Apparently they were really booked up the weekend we went. When we got to our room, it was a crazy mess. The people who stayed there before us must have been partying - they also hadn't cleaned the room yet. Called the front desk to let them know and had to wait another 30-40 minutes for them to prepare another room for us. Anyway, I'm leaving this room so I don't forget where I stayed "that one miserable time". I just want to make sure I NEVER stay here again. Truly an awful experience for $250 for just one night.

Yelp
Great location near lots of shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. And a 10 minute drive to the ski lodges. The newly constructed bungalows are nice, with new furnishings and a great aesthetic. However, there are a few things I'd love to recommend. For starters, would it be so hard to put a reasonably-sized trash can in the room? The kitchen garbage can is comically tiny, as in, literally the size of a child's lunch box. While we're on the topic of garbage cans, why aren't there more of them in public areas? There are TWO on the whole campus and they are also very small. Our bathroom electrical outlet did not work. So had to use the hair dryer in the kitchen every morning. While we're on the topic of bathroom electrical utilities, who decided it would be a great idea to equip the bathroom with a motion detector-activated flood light that you can't deactivate? Anytime someone (or the dog) walks into the bathroom (especially at 3am) it floods the entire room with blinding light waking everyone up in the process. No bueno. Don't get me started on the wifi. And this is a blanket note for all of Mammoth Lakes, but how in the hell are we now in 2025 and this town STILL cannot afford to bring in modern internet or cellular service? Every time we come here no matter where we stay, it's the same. Spotty WiFi, glitchy video plays, super long page load times, single bars on the cell phone, and dropped calls. Seriously, Mammoth, it's 2025, can you at least bring your grid up to 2015 standards? Back to the hotel room: Climate control was a constant chore of being too hot or too cold. We could never get the temperature just right, no matter what we set it on. And while we're on the topic of climate control, why are there 3 thermostats in a single-bedroom cabin? One on the living room wall. One on the bathroom wall. And a hand-held remote controlled thermostat. It was bonkers fluctuating the room between 79 degrees and 62 degrees every other hour. It was nice to have a fenced-in dog area. What was not nice is that the poop can was overflowing as if nobody had emptied it in over a week. Also, the poop bag dispenser was empty the entire time we were there. Good thing we brought our own bags. The kitchen (If you can call it that) has a countertop so small that all the things already sitting on it (coffee maker, paper towel dispenser, utensil racks, etc) leave no room for anything else. Good luck trying to cook in here. It just ain't happening. And while we're on the topic of the kitchen, the sink is also comically small. I tried washing dishes in it and could barely fit the plate into the sink and move it around enough to get it thoroughly clean. Very nice microwave and refrigerator, though. The full-length artificial fire place with color control settings is incredibly cool. Prob the best feature in the room. The property overall is nice and the community very friendly. This review is just me being nit-picky about some things they should have thought through a little better for the people staying here.

Yelp
Stayed in the double chalet. The check-in process was simple and the room was comfortable. There were a number of different stairs to navigate on the way to the room, and no luggage carts, so be prepared for that. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evening. However, the restaurant and bar were closed for the duration of our stay.

MATT E.

Yelp
Update: my daughter and I stayed in one of the new cabins a few weeks ago and The Experience there was absolutely other level. Everything in that unit was completely brand new and modern. It was so cozy having our own standalone cabin was fully equipped. The entire staff and crew of the hotel is top notch. We will definitely be staying in the cabins at this point. They are well worth it. This is the only place we stay in Mammoth!

Yelp
This place has three redeeming factors. 1. The staff 2. The sauna 3. Lobby bar Everything else is subpar. We booked three nights with this hotel. To start, our check-in process was not smooth. The room they initially checked us into was missing a microwave and hair dryer, so we asked for a different room. They were fully booked out of single king beds, so we stayed in a double queen room, The next issue is parking. There are more rooms than there are parking spots, there is never any spot available, especially at night. The wifi does not work at all. If you want to get work done or have to hop on a Zoom call, this is not the place to do it. I am not sure if it is because we came during Presidents weekend, but functional wifi at a hotel is a non-negotiable especially if you are charging your guests $400+ per night. Cleanliness was horrid. There was a SPIDER on our bed. The water kettle also had black residue inside of it. Thankfully, the hotel staff was nice enough to bring a new one up to our bed. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating; especially Judy. She was attentive and listened to our concerns. Honestly, the staff are the only reason I am not leaving this place a 1-star review.

Yelp
It's our second time staying here and we will be coming back again. We stayed at the 2 bedroom villa which was brand new and very comfortable. Although we love the pool and the hot tub... The real reason we keep coming back is the wine bar: family friendly with beautiful fire place and tons of board games , live music + the real gem of a wine selection and Chip... THE sommelier. Outbound is lucky to have him. Truly !

Yelp
Definitely not 5 star as there are a couple concerns I will point out but overall a great stay and I would return. The room: Clean, updated, big comfy bed, really nice bathroom and super comfy and unique furniture. Big screened TV over the fireplace which set the mood and the fireplace provided a lot of warmth! Location: Close to plenty of places to dine and drink. Great coffee truck on site. We love coffee and it was our favorite out of looney bean and black velvet. 7 minute drive to either Eagle or canyon lodge. Parking: SUCKS. They can't accommodate all vehicles and we had to get creative then not leave the next night. Noise: our room was noisy. 1st floor by the stairs and I think the family that stayed above us had their kids wear in the ski boots the entire night. If we stayed again we would request a room on the 2nd floor. Ambiance/vibe: the vibes were way up! Hit the spa after a day of boarding and met a bunch of nice people. They had a trick comp on site with a couple rails and a table which wad super cool. They had a DJ and vendors and probably the reason parking sucked which I get.

Yelp
This place was really rad! Tons of easy entrances throughout the property. the main office has awesome staff that were super friendly, had a gift shop with games, dog beds, snacks and so much cool stuff.. rooms were roomy, clean, quiet, and bathroom was really nice. They have an outdoor pool and jacuzzi with a cool lil changing room where you can keep your stuff warm and dry. There's a bar restaurant attached to the hotel that we checked out for food (they have a wine bar too but I didn't go), the food was good, staff was attentive even when it was packed and we were moving around the place. Inside they also had a cool arcade for kids with free games! Fun band and good drinks. They have food trucks during the day out front parking lot and the crepe place was soooo good!! Obsessed with their lemonade even!

Yelp
Great location and the grounds are nice. The Friday and Saturday staff was nice but not the person on Thursday. Coffee in the lobby. Access to filtered water in the lobby. Parking was easy and ample but we were there a bit off season. However here are some not so good observations. -hot tub not working -two outlets in the room -one small trash can in entire room -room smelled moldy and is stuffy -the air conditioning was extremely loud -no phones to call the front desk in chalet room -chalet room looked super old and the cabinets didn't event open because they were broken We booked a chalet room but the toilet was broken and we had to move to a room in the main building as nothing else was available. I asked to be moved to a room on the grounds instead of the main building since my first room with broken toilet was of that standard but was quoted $250 per night. The chalet room looks nothing like the photos and is very old and dark by the way. Overall an average resort and better than sleeping in a tent (for me).

Yelp
We stayed in the "Deluxe King Room". We were on the first floor, very close to the check-in lobby. The place is rather large. Like 2- blocks worth of various hotel rooms, suites and individual "townhouse" types of rooms (for larger groups). It's a decent place. Room was okay, clean for the most part (food containers were left in the small fridge). So it makes you think "how well are they wiping down and cleaning the rooms"? The parking is not easy, especially in the icy & snowy months. Very impacted parking. You may not be able to park adjacent to your assigned room. The steam room and sauna were "out-of-order" and being renovated. That should have equated to a discount in the room price, since all amenities were not available and that was not stipulated when making the reservation. We definitely would have used those amenities. The outdoor pool & jacuzzi were working. But being January (the icy month for Mammoth) that hot jacuzzi was full. Not something we wanted to participate in. There is no breakfast for these basic "deluxe" rooms. However, there is a coffee and hot water dispenser in the lobby, for coffee. There is also an outdoor "crepes & coffee" food truck, at the corner, you can order from. The bar area was beautiful. And in the evening they had a wine bar with a live jazz saxophone player. Nice indoor experience, since most of that town closes around 4 pm. They have outdoor fire pits in the evening. Which were also nice. Not a bad place to stay.

Wendy C.

Yelp
Pros: hotel lobby is gorgeous, the grounds are clean, fire pits, pool, jacuzzi, sauna and wine bar. Cons: outdated room! Ughhhhhhh room 207. Was musty smelling, the light had an electrical short and flickered, decor and carpeting old. Needs remodeling. The jacuzzi was dirty. The evening smores they advertised as amenities was a joke. At the front desk I asked for smores kits, he gave me 2 very small packages with 2 pieces of Graham cracker, 2 stale marshmallows and a half of a Hersey chocolate bar in each bag. The kicker is he said the didn't have sticks for roasting!!!! I asked well what are we supposed to do he shrugged his shoulders and said go try grocery outlet across the street a ways down. Are you kidding me? What a joke. Not worth the price paid. I'm so disappointed, it was my husband's birthday and our 1st time to Mammoth.

Yelp
Stayed for 3 nights and got moved to a different room each night! The beds are comfy. The AC in the rooms didn't work, and the phones in the rooms were also non-functional- have to walk across the property to the front desk to request towels. This place is not kid/family-friendly and is under-staffed. The front desk staff are not welcoming--they looked stressed all the time. I felt like I was inconveniencing them every time I reported that the AC wasn't working. On the first night, they put us next to the pool where there was a scheduled event with a DJ. The DJ booth was right against our wall. Due to availability, they couldn't move us but assured us the music would stop at 4 PM. After a six-hour drive, my kids and I tried to nap, but at 5 PM, the DJ was still playing music. We ended up going to the car to nap in peace. With the AC not working, we had the window open, but there was a loud group in the jacuzzi until midnight. The next day, we were moved to another room, but again, the AC wasn't working. They gave us two fans, one of which was very loud. The following morning, Brett, the supervisor said he would move us and put us at the top of the list. When we returned at the end of the day, nothing had been done. We considered leaving a day early, but a helpful lady that was helping a the front desk finally moved us to a room with working AC. This hotel needs to have Brett, the supervisor, and the other front desk staff take a hospitality class. Simple things like smiling go a long way

Yelp
As of sept 15, 2023 The hotel is still under construction, overall no disturbance with our stay. Upgraded the room, nicer. The mattress was firm and very comfortable. Decent room size with microwave, mini refrigerator and a lot of drawers. Bathroom was okie, all the toiletries are big sizes for environmental friendly which is good Robes are provided. A lot of details need to be addressed with minor flaws yet acceptable. The front desk, depend on the person, some is helpful and some is not helpful at all Overall we would recommended the place $25/ night for resort fee - sauna, steam and fitness center No swimming pool $50/ night for dog fee

Amy B.

Yelp
Nice rooms, Clean, and great amenities. Loved the fire pits scattered around the property and appreciated the complementary smores kit that were provided. We've stayed here twice once with larger family in a 2 bed suite and once in just the one bedroom. Liked both.

Ganna B.

Yelp
If you're up to wake up to construction you're welcome that's the spot. Huge thanks to the owner for providing the experience for all of us. Such a thoughtful move on a sold out Saturday morning in the wilderness. All the guests had to pay for this. And it wasn't the cheapest.

Mikael J.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, especially with its location, but the room had several issues that made the stay uncomfortable. There was a strong musty smell as soon as I walked in, and the room felt dated. There were very few outlets, which made it hard to charge devices. Only one trash can in the entire room -- and it was placed right next to the toilet. The biggest issue was the curtain situation. The curtains are somewhat sheer, and at night, with the lights on, it's easy for people outside to see in. There's no real privacy, which was unsettling. To top it off, there's a "resort fee" that doesn't seem to cover anything of value -- it feels completely unjustified. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again
google avatar

Yelp
They made great drinks. My Martini was fantastic. My wife's Margarita was great as well. It was cold and windy and the fire place hit the spot. The burgers are fantastic, specially when they sauté the onions. As for the ambience, it was a great bar to go and have a couple of drinks. Will I go there again, definitely.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Everyone was so nice ! Pool was heated in spring spa was great. The over all vibe is so cozy and cool lots of places to hang out fire pits giant fireplace by the wine bar! Walking distance to everything in town and a 10 min trolly to the slops! Def gonna come back!

Yelp
No hot water, wifi sucks, heat/air conditioner makes a loud clanging noise. We are here right now and I am so annoyed that the shower is ice cold and I need to take one to go to bed. This place is expensive and I have stayed at cheaper places here and not had these problems! Edit: Finally after 2 days maintenance came and fixed the shower. I believe they are giving us a credit as well. I know they tried to help and I commend them for that. All in all this place is not bad but it's an older place and has it's issues. The hot tub is great and the lobby has free coffee and hot chocolate....I felt bad that the staff seemed overwhelmed.

Yelp
we are constantly traveling but for the first time we didn't have a good experience. as soon as we entered the hotel they gave us the wrong room, we reserved a balcony room with Mountain view but they gave us a little room with a small window , when we called front dest , a lady answered & said we have no more room , we upset but asked go down the price of this simple room but she said with a bad attitude no we can't!!!! after that we talked with her supervisor he promised to give us a better room for just waiting half an hour , but when we called back to confirm it the same lady said you should wait 3-4 hours !!!! we don't have any room ready and our supervisor left , we got realy tired , one hours later after so much headache finally they gave us a better room (but room that wasn't same as we reserved) Initially, they ruined our trip

Yelp
Impromptu trip to Mammoth over the holiday and we came across this amazing spot. The Outbound has been a spot I've passed many times in Mammoth, and now a spot I will continue to stay every time I visit. The site is well maintained, staff is very friendly - Jess, I believe is the manager there and Lupe were exceptionally warm, friendly and so sweet. They made our stay even more pleasant. The cabins/suites are where we stayed, very spacious! Oven, fridge and all included and made it super easy to store food and enjoy the tranquility of Mammoth! They have a restaurant on site that opens at 4pm and there is also a trailer that is a mini restaurant that you can order amazing crepes, coffee etc. Thanks team for a memorable stay. We will be coming back 10000%

Yelp
As someone who stayed at Outbound back when it was the Sierra Nevada Resort and loved it, I was curious about the changes I'd find on this trip. I'm pleased to say that it was just as lovely as before and that the service is friendly and professional. Also impressive is that the branding is consistent throughout the entire property. You know your room is so cozy and comfortable that you don't want to go to sleep because you don't want to waste your night. The room was very clean, and the fireplace was a wonderful way to finally fall asleep despite my best efforts. The bed had a variety of pillows for every type of person, and the heated floors were a wonderful touch. I also appreciated the tea kettle in my room, and honestly, I just didn't want to leave. I highly recommend hopping down to the very well-stocked bar and talking to the sommelier, who pointed us toward a very good bottle of wine. I'll be sure to check out the cocktails on my next trip back--and maybe build in even more time to just hang out in my room.

Yelp
The Good Judy at the front desk is awesome and very sweet. She took care of all of our requests in a timely manner, was very friendly with my daughters when they were playing games in the lobby, and even gave them S'mores packages to use with the fire pit outside. Clean rooms and great location. Close to the Village, but far enough to be away from the chaos. Plenty of restaurants and markets nearby. The Not-So-Good Parking lot. We didn't have any issues with finding parking spots every day, but we came just before the summer rush. I can imagine it gets crowded in the summers and winters. And the lot itself needs a lot of TLC... potholes everywhere. Internet. We complained about the shoddy wireless access, and they just said that everything was working well. Except it wasn't. It would work decently for a few minutes and then we'd lose connection entirely. This happened throughout our stay. And if you have T-Mobile, like we do, your data connection won't be much better (I know that's more of a T-Mobile issue than the lodge). If you have work to do on your laptop, I'd suggest doing it in the lobby where the connection is stronger. One final note... we booked the Third Night Free option. The MORNING OF our arrival date, I received an email from Outbound saying my reservation had been modified. They changed our occupancy from 2 adults and 2 children to just 2 adults. Then they were going to charge me for the third night. So when I showed up to check in, I asked them about it. She showed me on her computer that the original price I got at the time of booking was what I would be paying and that she didn't know why that email was sent. Less than a week after we left Mammoth, I checked my account and saw that we had indeed been charged for the third night (it was a separate transaction... not part of the original charge). I called them and they confirmed I was accidentally charged for the third night, so they refunded me the third night charge. Now I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say it really was an accident. But I'm still going to give this piece of advice: if you're booking the Third Night Free deal, make sure you check your credit card statement afterwards.

Yelp
I don't know what the bad reviews are about.maybe about past management. The pool/ Jacuzzi area is Great! The location is close to all, shuttle across the street. Rooms super tidy/ Clean. Yelp
Really really really satisfied. If you are looking for a comfy experience away from home, this might be it. I suspect a lot of people want some 5 star hotel for nothing, but this is more like a BnB feeling. That's not everyone's jam, but it is mine. The employees were really nice, the amenities are better than the so-called 4 star hotel I stayed in last week in Las Vegas; it was conveniently located and it wasn't expensive at all. We will definitely recommend and return.

Yelp
Just not worth the price. The porch light was missing in the new"Cabin" room, which was dirty including spiderwebs. Pool/spa ran out of towels. Noisy in the morning, and bed was uncomfortable.

Yelp
Outsider looks really nice just remodel. Inside is dated. No power outlet easily assessable for charging your phone. Issues with plumbing. Flood the bathroom. The toilet runs all night. Maintenance supposedly fixed it but flooded again. They did not offer us a new room

Yelp
We just spent 2 nights here. Decided to extend our stay in mammoth and found this place. The front office staff was very helpful the young guy helped us book our room last min and was super kind. We have a dog and they were very pet friendly. The rooms were clean and that is most important to me. The air was a great treat as it was a very warm weekend up there. Internet and tv seemed to work just fine. There is a nice fire pit and chairs out in the courtyard in the evenings it was very enjoyable. Met some neat people. They have a wine bar and The Sommelier Chip was such a treat to chat with. Very in tuned with all things wine. It was fun learning some new things and drinking some yummy wine! Bar Sierra is also on property right next door. Stacy is a sweetheart and runs the restaurant. We had the pita app, strawberry feta spinach salad added chicken and we had the rib plate they were all very good. The bartender Sandra is a hoot. She was a blast to chat with. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will def stay here again.

Yelp
Edited: Stayed in a fireplace suite. Zero hot water first night, fireplace didn't work. Keep getting kicked off WiFi. Left over food in the microwave from the guests before us. Stains on walls. Thankfully, Jason helped us out , he's fantastic!!!, and turned our experience around. However, Our new room has no wall decor and the bath tub was broken, so again had to get that fixed. Kitchenette wasn't fully stocked like our last room. Idk. This place is cute and nice when things are working, it's clearly half finished. Maybe I'll come back in a year or two when they figure everything out...

Yelp
I am astonished at the customer service I received just by trying to call and make a reservation. A woman answered the phone and I inquired about a queen room to which she quoted me $850. I told her I found the same room on booking.com for $513 and she advised me to take that deal. Then, before I hung up, she said "ok I will give you that price". I thanked her and began to give her my information. I told her that the room I was quoted for online was a king room and wanted to make sure she could still honor the price. She began to yell at me that they did not have king rooms available to which my response was that I just wanted to make sure the price was still honorable. She hung up the phone. I call back, no answer. I use my husband's phone to call back and she answers. She begins to tell me that she doesn't know who I am and will not allow me to speak to a manager. We will NOT be staying here, nor recommending it to anyone.

Yelp
Absolutely the very worst experience I have ever had in a motel. The fireplace didn't work. The heater didn't work. Central air didn't work. The computer system was down. I waited in the lobby for 2 hours while the management tried to figure out the computer problem. So I was stuck in a cold room with a child. I feel taking advantage of. The company is fraudulent and should be legally responsible.

Yelp
Outbound is an awesome place to stay. But, the best part is Chip and his wine bar. I learned more from Chip about wine than any other winery tour I've ever done. He made great conversation, we had so much fun, it's worth staying here, or stopping in just to meet Chip and have a glass of wine with him.

Yelp
I don't recommend, save yourself the headache. A list of things went wrong, the worst being that I was double charged. It's been over a month of me asking for help getting refunded. They say they have a new computer system and can't help, onto disputing the charges with my bank.

Yelp
If you are traveling to Mammoth Lakes, Outbound Mammoth is the place to stay. Great, spacious rooms with access to pool/hot stub and fitness center. If you are staying you have to stop by the wine bar. Chip is an advanced sommelier and curates the wine list. He gave us a personalized experience and taught us all about wine. I would come here again and again

Yelp
Never did get to stay here. Fernando in reservations booked us in Tucson Arizona instead of Mammoth Lakes California and didn't send a confirmation. After 3 hours on the phone with these folks we found out about Tucson. "Sorry for the inconvenience" was all we got. If we had just shown up we would not have had a place to stay and would have been charged for not showing up in Tucson. Then they called at 7am this morning to tell us that they couldn't do anything about it and we would have to pay the internet rate. I asked if she knew it was before 8am and she said oops I thought you were on the east coast. This business is a bummer.

Yelp
Pros: - reasonably priced for Mammoth - dog friendly - centrally located - reliable internet Cons: - no hairdryers or robes that were mentioned in the list of amenities while booking - sauna wasn't working - they are still under construction (as of early Dec '22) and there's paint smell Good option overall.

Yelp
Wonderful rooms. Very clean. Bathrooms and showers are lovely. Very well styled. Fireplace in room was so cozy and warm. Parking was not an issue. Place has a heated pool and hot-tub. Lobby is beautiful and there is a large fireplace inside with seating on three sides for socializing. A wine bar is also located in the lobby. Staff were all friendly and welcoming of dogs. We stayed 4 nights and used the workout room and washer and dryer (take credit or debit card so no quarters required) the only thing i did not care for is the in room complementary coffee comes in the form of tea bags which at first i thought was a great idea and excited to try. But coffee was horrible. Luckily some brewed coffee was free in lobby almost every morning. Robes were wonderful when stepping out of the shower. My dog was given a treat bag and poop sacks. There are onsite dog poop stations with bags as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
AVOID THIS PLACE. I'm sitting in my room currently with no WiFi, no working TV, and last night the AC sounded like the fan was coming off of it. Went to the front desk and after spending $550 for 2 nights in the off season, all they are willing to do is refund the $55 resort fee. They switched our rooms earlier for a room that had a working TV... It worked for 15 minutes Also, the pillows feel like they are from a hospital and the bed feels like a piece of foam on plywood. Definition of tourist trap and opportunist business in a resort town.

Yelp
Looks good in pics, but the service is terrible. They offer cleaning service if you ask at front desk, but they didn't follow through the ask. Had to ask multiple people every day to get the room cleaned once 4 days in. Clear lack of quality in service, food, and lacking maintenance. They even offered a partial refund upon checkout at front desk, and then denied it. Would not recommend.

Yelp
3 night stay at a nice spacious room. I would definitely stay here again. From other guest, it was recently renovated. Came with a mini fridge and microwave. All of the guest really enjoyed the robes that were available, and wore them when walking to the hot tub which was hot and clean (pool was also heated, but didn't go in). There was a dj playing by the pool and the hot tub was packed with party-goers at 8 pm on a Saturday. There's a restaurant right next door (Bar Sierra), which is convenient and Black Tie Ski Rental company picks up your rentals at a rack by the lobby. They also had a indoor fireplace with board games which was cool. There's a free red and teal bus across the street, that'll take you into the Mammoth mountain village. Negatives - No housekeeping throughout our stay. I was hoping for the bed to be made and trash to be taken out but that never happened - Lobby knocks on your door loudly at 10:30 to ensure you're leaving at checkout time, even though we paid extra for a late checkout - 1 ply toilet paper - The map is sort of like a maze with many staircases, difficult to find the sauna and steam room - If you stay on the first floor, you can hear all the footsteps (however, easier to stay on the first floor than figure out the 2nd floor maze) - The steam room wasn't working - Room was freezing cold when we got there and took hours to warm up once we turned the heat on
