10 Best Hotels in Vermont for the Perfect New England Getaway | Vogue

"For a mod Vermont stay, book one of the 73 rooms at Outbound Stowe, a relative newcomer as of 2024. Most of the rooms and suites focus on punchy colors and graphic accents (though the pictured three-bedroom cottage takes an airier approach, and is perfectly sized for a family or friend group). The property sits on the West Branch Little River, which you can wander to with your morning coffee to kick things off at a leisurely pace before hitting one of the adjacent bike trails or venturing into Stowe for a day of picturesque sight-seeing." - Elly Leavitt

How to Visit Stowe, Vermont Like a Local

"Opened in spring 2024, this 73-room hotel occupies nine wooded acres a few minutes from the mountain and blends a vintage-meets-modern mountain aesthetic. It offers a pared-down amenity set compared with larger resorts, but retains key après features (including an essential hot tub) and direct access to the local recreation path for walking, running, or post-ski strolls." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. Outbound Stowe (Stowe, Vermont) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"After successful launches in Jackson Hole and Mammoth Lakes, Outbound Hotels turned eastward to one of New England’s top mountain resorts. For all of Stowe’s considerable charm, it’s a destination somewhat short on modern boutique hotels, and the youthful, nature-oriented Outbound Stowe fills the gap nicely. On a wooded property a few miles outside of town, with direct access to Stowe’s popular Recreation Path, it’s a hybrid of glamping and hipster summer camp complete with communal fire pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs, a stylish all-day eatery, and one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in the area." - Tablet Hotels

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel's location is beautiful, especially with the fall leaves, and having the recreational track right outside the property. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was well-designed and also beautifully fitted out, making it a very comfortable and clean space to relax. We really appreciated the small, thoughtful touches that made a big difference, like the complimentary coffee, the curated Spotify playlist, the availability of s'mores and fires etc. Everything was well-kept and clean. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable experience.

We had a very good time staying in a 1-bedroom cabin with our dog. The cabin was nice and had what we needed to stay for the week, including a kitchenette where we cooked breakfast most mornings. It's easy to access the Stowe Recreation Path from the grounds. The pool is quite nice (but cold!) and the staff were helpful. Would recommend!

This is now my favorite hotel in Stowe. Newly renovated (some buildings newly constructed) and done well. The rooms are large, clean, quiet, and nicely decorated. Beds are quite comfortable. The pool/hot tub/bar/restaurant area is really nicely done. Location not too far up Mountain Road, directly on the Rec Path, and an easy walk from several great restaurants is perfect. Nice additions would be some seating in the rooms besides the bed and outside the rooms to hang out on. As well, a few more dishes on the restaurant menu would make it a much better dinner option. But these are minor issues. Overall, Outbound Stowe is an awesome place to stay in Stowe.

Google
Positive: The lobby and rooms are modern and vibrant. Every piece of decor is gorgeous! The staff who checked us in were efficient and warm. The pool and all the surrounding activities were a huge hit with our kids. Negative: Our room had a dehumidifier and it was full already when we arrived. There was a faint musty smell to the room. There was no water available to purchase at the hotel when we arrived at night

We’ve spent a total of about 10 or 11 nights here. The pool is great, the grounds and common areas are all well maintained and very pretty. Monday nights are local nights at the pool so if you’re a visitor you will want to entirely avoid that evening, if you can. They have a hot tub, the rooms are newly renovated, beds comfortable, and it’s close to the rec path as well as nice restaurants. We are very happy staying here and will happily stay here again.

Great stay. Grounds are great, newly updated. Nice lobby. Pool area is great. Walkable to many local restaurants and bars. Have had some issues with room cleanliness during this trip and in the past.

What a great place to stay. Loved everything about it. I absolutely got my best sleep away from home ever. Bed felt like a cloud. Reception was awesome. They found my CC and called me immediately to return it. Rooms are really beautiful a little retro and minimalist. Love it.

Disappointing property and services. Restaurant was only open one night of our 3-night stay. Our room (king suite) was okay but nothing special. The suite is lacking surfaces on which to place bags or store clothing. (There are hooks, but who wants to hang their underwear?!). The tv was only viewable from bed. The sofa sat like a rock…. Housekeeping - other than refreshing towels - is only on request. Given the entire property is mostly gravel covered it resulted in very gritty floors and bedding…||||Overall the property feels like a motel which is charging resort rates and fees. Too expensive for what it is.

Yelp
Tidy well designed room with comfy bed. They really thought of everything. Plenty of areas to hang your towels, clothes, and coats. Hot water kettle in the room, with coffee to steep, or tea. A noise machine to dull any outside noise. Nice firepit areas and hot tub. The gift shop was really well stocked with great hoodie and tote bag designs, and even s'more kits. The TV in the room was easy to figure out, and came in clear. Helpful happy staff, and hot coffee for early risers. We would definitely come again, especially because they are so close to the bike trails and walking distance to town in either direction. Well done Outbound!

Yelp
Outbound Stowe appears to be a newer hotel in Stowe from what I read online. They are motel-style, but also have little private cabins that are lined up in the back of the property. I stayed in the Double Queen bed, handicap accessible room. It was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. I found that they didn't have a lot of functional things in the room. There weren't a lot of places to hang up towels. They didn't give the usual hotel toiletries like the shower caps, cotton swabs, makeup remover wipes, etc. They did have an electric kettle in the room and a little tray where they had some tea bags, hot coco packets, and an ice bucket. I couldn't find the other amenities from the other review like the noise machine. We only went to the main building to check in and check out, but I did see the hot coffee station and the gift shop. I didn't use either of these. I did, however, enjoy the complimentary smores one night when I had a sweet tooth. They put the kits out by the restaurant on site and there were two fire pits with a few chairs. I wish they had more, smaller fire pits so it could be a more private experience. (The people sitting at the fire pit didn't seem to appreciate when we asked if we could use the fire for smores.) The fire pits are also by an inground pool and a hot tub. The pool had signage that said it was closed, but they did not cover the pool. I'm not sure if the hot tub was open and I didn't see anyone use it during my stay. The WiFi was abysmal, which really was inconvenient because my boyfriend and I did not get great cell service for the entire trip. We were really relying on WiFi when we went to different businesses to plan things and make reservations. Because WiFi was not great at the hotel, some functions of the TV were unusable. These could be growing pains for the hotel if they are a newer business in Stowe, so hopefully they continue to grow and improve because the location is great and the foundation of a great hotel is definitely there!
