We had a great time at Outhouse Orchard yesterday 10/19/24. A bit crowded and long lines, but things ran smoothly and lines went pretty fast considering the crowd. Staff is very nice and welcoming and my daughter(8) enjoyed herself. A bit pricey given that adults pay the same as children yet we don’t do the children activities(bounce house, duck race, bubble station and more. Lots to do for children, so a great deal for kids. We spent about $300 for a family of 4(3 adults, 1 child). We loved the live music on the hayride, very fun and different. We did splurge a little since we haven’t been to a farm in a few years but food was great! Good thing you can bring your own food and have a picnic to stay more on budget. Something to consider for your visit. Below is a little break down on what we spent: Admission: $21 x’s 4= $85 1/2 bag of apples=$30 Corn maze= $5 each online (in person $10) Face painting=$7 each kid Small/medium pumpkin=$5 each(great price) Brick oven Pizza= $18 each(3 pies= $54) delicious! Drinks= $2 can of coke, $5 lemonade Apple cider donuts=$15 a dozen Coffee= $3 Hard cider=$8 Farm stand= about $40(corn bread, honey, white pumpkin, caramel) Overall, a great day! Prices inside were very reasonable, minus the entrance fee. But still worth it. Thank you!

Outhouse Orchards is an enjoyable destination for families and those looking to experience classic fall activities in the countryside. If you’re prepared for the crowds and cost, it’s a wonderful spot to spend a fall day apple picking, exploring the pumpkin patch, and enjoying the seasonal treats. 1. Apple Picking: Outhouse Orchards is a great spot for apple picking in the Hudson Valley. They offer a wide variety of apples, and visitors can enjoy picking their own directly from the trees during the harvest season. 2. Pumpkin Patch: In addition to apple picking, they have a large pumpkin patch, which is perfect for families looking to select pumpkins for Halloween or fall decorations. 3. Farm Stand and Market: The orchard also features a market where visitors can purchase freshly baked pies, apple cider donuts, local honey, and other farm-fresh products. apple cider donuts are warm and delicious. 4. Activities for Kids: There are several attractions for children, including hayrides, a corn maze, and a petting zoo. These activities make it a fun, family-oriented destination. 5. Scenic Location: The orchard is located in a beautiful rural setting, with plenty of scenic spots to relax and take in the fall foliage. Things to Consider: 1. Crowds: Outhouse Orchards can get very crowded, especially on weekends during peak apple-picking season. Arriving early is recommended to avoid long lines and ensure a more relaxed experience. 2. Parking Fees: Some visitors have mentioned that there is a parking fee, which can be surprising for first-timers. It’s a good idea to check in advance for current prices. 3. Prices: While the overall experience is fun, some guests feel that the prices for apples and activities can be a bit on the higher side compared to other orchards in the area.

Google
Best experience. We brought 5 kids ages 6-15 and ALL had a great time! Such a nice large location with many entertaining features. Loved the corn maze. Love the hay ride around the orchard and the food offerings were superb. Literally the best ribs we have ever had! Don’t even get me started on the apple cider donuts!!! Insanely light and delicious. Run don’t walk to this amazing family owned orchard!

Google
Attended during Fall 2024 and during Columbus Day weekend. If you buy your tickets online and in advance you save money. It was not as crowded as I expected it to be. This is farm is dog-friendly! They have food/beer onsite. The brick oven pizza was amazing! Apple cider donuts were delicious and fresh out the oven! While I was there, they had issues with their system, so be prepare to take out cash. With your entrance fee, you experience a hayride and fall activities (mainly targeted for children, but fun for adults too). Restrooms are porta potties. They have a cute market for those who do not want to pick apples.

Took the wife and kid to the Orchards today and had a great time. They have a lot of stuff for the kids to do. You must try the apple cider donuts. They have pizza and pies also. I will definitely come back with the family

Customer service left something to be desired. My group of 7 (all nurses) were coming up from the city, a nice commute for just a day trip. Lots of goodies purchased by the lot of us. But after only being there for two hours and we were wrapping up to leave and doing our final purchases, the checkout woman stated “ wow you again, these people have been here all day…” speaking to her coworker directly in front of my friend ( a black woman). We spent well over $200 as a group and we were spoken to in a distasteful manner from the second we interacted with the employees. Save the trip if you’re a person of “diversity”. We discussed each of our interactions after, not ideal at all for a place to spend your money. We put on our best faces and had a good time hunting for the beat apples, peaches and nectarines since we had already put in all the effort the coordinate the trip. Dog friendly as well. Food was not open for weekdays.

Google
I heard they are starting to do Saturday night events. Tonight was a great night out as the weather started to cool down and the views of this place are beautiful. The drink selection was just enough to not be overwhelmed. I went with the IPA which was nice and cold. Pizza was my favorite as I love spicy pepperoni. The Mac-n-cheese was on point with it being thick and cheesy. A great evening out and I hope they keep this going!

Google
Amazing farm and experience! People complaining about the pricing but just check what you get for it. It's a great day out and I'll also, call out Andrew (one of the family owners. Incredible human, kind and helpful!

Yelp
Really wanted to love this but unfortunately there wasn't much left to do (also prob because it was the last of the season). For the entry I felt like there could be more to do. There's a lot of add ons like corn maze and apple picking but that's on top of the already steep price. The hay ride was cute, but as they were driving near the apple trees, we could see that most of the apple picking is done. Good thing we didn't pay for a bag. You can actually purchase good looking apples at the produce stand in the front. Parking spaces were ample, a lot of portapotty and some fun activities here and there like pumpkin patch photo ops, duck race, a bouncy house and a hay stack. The only saving grace was the food. It was actually decent pizza, chicken tenders and fries. The apple cider donut was okay, sweet but not as fluffy and soft as I hope it to be. The hot dog was a miss.

Alexandra C.

Yelp
Beautiful scenery on a perfect blue sky October day. The apples we bought were pretty fairly priced. Perfectly crisp and juicy but not all that flavorful. The apple cider donut tasted old, like bad oil and too much sugar-- inedible. We were there on a weekday and they were surprisingly charging for the bouncy house. But the kids could at least climb the big haystacks for free!

Yelp
Hi - my son left his jacket at this orchard a week ago and we're having trouble getting in touch with the orchard. We've tried calling them, but it's just a pre-recorded message and the voicemail box is full so we can't leave a message. We've also tried contacting them through their online inquiry form on the website but they haven't responded after a week. Does anyone have the contact information for the proprietors? We'd like to get in touch to ask about their lost & found.

Yelp
If you only read one sentence, don't show up without a reservation. Maybe you've heard, or even made, the depressing argument that Whole Foods apples are cheaper (if my research funding comes through I plan to investigate how many of these folks brag that they spent $150 for a farm-to-table tasting menu). Yes, this is a pricy endeavor, you're paying for the scenery and the adventure. I paid $53 for admission and the smallest available bag (and got 28 apples). The travel might seem inconvenient but you can treat it as a fun survival game. Non-car owners like me choose Outhouse as the least worst option (other than Harvest Moon across the street). Sometimes there are taxis at the Croton Falls station. Uber and Lyft are generally available but there may be a long wait. At one point in a traffic jam, the phone map said it was 26 minutes via car and 24 minutes by walking (but don't walk, it's not safe, too many cars and ticks). Compared to the last trip, there were far more apples at low altitudes. The map situation is less than ideal (QR code map didn't work for me) so I'm not sure what apples I got but they have been fuji, wine crisp, golden delicious and mac. There are outhouse in lieu of bathrooms which may influence your intake of the many hard ciders, but maple vanilla was delightful. Foods like are long so I didn't buy anything but the fries looked appealing.

Yelp
Great experience to go with family during the fall. The food is great, the service is pretty quick, and the scenery is super nice.

David D.

Yelp
I was in the area and wanted to go Apple picking so I picked this place up. First we started with cider donuts they were still warm and soft as a pillow . Then we went on a nice hayride it was a beautiful day and very relaxing. Next we walked the paths and hills and picked different varieties of apples . Only thing is most of the apples were on the floor or up very high . Which causes people to shake the tree and damages the apples as they fall . All in all a nice visit and would go back for the cider donuts .

Susana C.

Yelp
Such a cute and amazing market. Loved it. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. We went during the week so it was nice calm and peaceful. The pumpkin patch was nice and big. The pumpkins were already picked and just layer out for you to pick, NOT on the vine. There was no food during the week, but I did see stands and according to staff there open on the weekends. There's a patio to sit and then more tables on the side. The orchard is to the side of everything.

Yelp
Pros and Cons about Outhouse Orchards: 1. Pro: They are dog friendly! (Harvest Moon, a block away, says "no dogs"). 2. Con: There is no shade. Go on a cool day & bring sunscreen! 3. Con: The only bathrooms are several port-a-potties (thus the name?) 4. Con: There are no maps and no signs indicating the varieties of apples. To me, this fact is itself a sign that says "We don't care about you." 5. Pro: The people who work there are very nice. 6. Pro: Petting zoo run by a non-profit animal sanctuary. Talk to Mary. 7. Pro: There is nothing so delicious as a fresh-picked apple. 6. Fact of life: You're gonna spend money there.

Yelp
Hate to leave a review like this for a small business, and it's my first Yelp review. But the experience my group had was outrageous. - Sat in traffic for an hour and a half at the entrance because their ticket checkers check tickets while people are in their vehicles. There are two lanes. Tickets are sent by email, and service is spotty. Someone has a problem with their ticket? Everyone behind them has to wait. We got there at 1:30, and parked at 3:00. This is not only a huge pain, but creates a massive road hazard with cars backed up for a mile - surprised the town even allows this. - We get in and order food. More expensive than many Manhattan restaurants. $18 for a turkey leg. Outside food is not allowed on the weekends when this food is available. - Porta pottys were horrible. Really gross - not enough for the amount of people there. - Picking apples was $30 for a bag, $45 for a large bag. You pay $25 to even access the property, then another $30 at minimum? You're now in the hole $55 to pick apples. Larger prepacked bags were selling for $15 in the farm stand. Also no signs to identify which apple trees correspond to which cultivar. You have no idea if you're picking the kind you want. - Finally the pumpkins. $1 / pound from this tiny little off-the-vine fenced in area. Doesn't sound too bad until you see larger pumpkins at Trader Joes the next day for $4, when you just paid $20 for yours. I understand pumpkin patches are going to charge higher prices, but 5x the price? Come on. I expected expensive, but wouldn't write a review like this if I didn't know there are far cheaper orchards upstate and in Jersey for a much better experience. You are getting ripped off for an incredibly subpar experience. Very disappointed with Outhouse Orchard, will look elsewhere next year.

Walter O.

Yelp
Do not go here without a reservation. We were very rudely stopped by a uniformed police officer who essentially said you are not welcome here without a ticket, and to leave now providing no alternate suggestions. Will be reporting this officer for his choice of conduct, very unprofessional. This venue requires a paid ticket which is ridiculous. Don't go here there are other places.

Yelp
I've been to this orchard twice now. The first time was back in 2021 and it was lovely. Quiet and quaint. Loved the fact that we had the option (think it was beginning of September) to pick apples, pears and peaches. Fast forward to 2024. Went over this past weekend and this place has changed. Very popular now which is great but not enough services/staff to support the amount of guests coming through. For the wins...liked the pumpkin patch and the kid activities available like bouncy house, bubble fun, and duck race. Also like the fact that pups are allowed. For the "opportunities", food selection was limited. There were only a few stands...with pizza or burgers/hot dog as options. The lines were insanely long and the wait for the food even longer. Not enough tables and chairs to sit and eat. Needless to say by lunch we had a grumpy bunch who were not much in the mood to pick any fruit. I will say that the hay ride was enjoyable with live singing but thought it was strange hay ride did not stop at where you wanted to pick fruits. You had to walk from orchard to orchard and with no signs you're walking aimlessly most of the time. There was a lot of fruit on the ground making it difficult to walk also. I've been to a number of orchards and it seems much messier here. Thought odd there were not many employees guiding people where to go. For the most part you scan a QR code for a map (which is outdated) and figure it out on your own. No signs anywhere to establish what type of apples were on the trees. Will likely not return here as my last experience was more of a zoo than an orchard.

Alison T.

Yelp
Old time family business. Has been there forever but has been completely remodeled since they sold their other property across the street/ (down the road). Has a great old time country store section with all kinds of jams, sauces, pickled veggies, pies, etc. Has a great cider bar (really good cider) you can get on tap or purchase bottles. They even have a rose'! Also bought a cute bowl & pitcher last time. I highly recommend!

Amanda S.

Yelp
After frequenting this farm for the past 5 years-- I can say I was in shock when they charge $20 per person in the vehicle. $20 per person includes nothing but parking your vehicle. I invited my parents & siblings to celebrate my birthday to go apple picking. Just in parking we spent $300!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (4 cars, 15 adults/young teens) I now question why we even did it!! Far from worth it if you have a large party. Rip off honestly, so sad and beyond frustrating!

Ms. J.

Yelp
If I could put a zero I would. I bought tickets for 11/3 with protection in order to get a refund in case anything happened. Sure enough I cannot make it due to a family situation. I have called, emailed, written on Facebook and also posted on their page requesting help. I have been unable to speak to anyone at all about a refund. I also read in other reviews they charge for parking when others do not. I would not bother again.

Laura C.

Yelp
Been here multiple times. Everyone is so nice, place is super walkable, food vendors there are delicious! Oh and we can always take our pup!

Renee R.

Yelp
This was a great farm day. Low key but good family fun. The food choices were easy and affordable and they give you great portions. Enough seating for the crowds. They had a brewery truck, stonefire pizza and more. Donuts were awesome fresh and hot. The cider was delish. The farm stand had a good amount of goodies up for sale. We came home with fresh produce, candles, candy, pumpkins, apples and apple butter.

Matt T.

Yelp
Sat in traffic for an hour because no one knows how to let people park first and then scan tickets at the entrance. With little kids, it really ruins the experience.

Lior Y.

Yelp
We really loved it there. Not too long of a drive from NYC, and once you're there, it's a very immersive experience. Any age can find something to do there, and the staff is great and friendly. Apple picking is what you'd expect, and please please please don't skip the pizza stand. These guys are the unsung heroes. Making New Haven style pizza that's absolutely worth the price. Keep in mind that car lines can get long to get in, so plan accordingly.

Shauna Gay P.

Yelp
We visited for a church outing on 10/5 the place is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. the manager Andrew was exceptional. We had a few ticket issues that he swiftly resolved for our 2 van load of passengers visiting from NYC. Andrew was very helpful and friendly and that's one of the reasons I'm giving this Orchard a 5 star rating. Having well trained management goes a long way with customer satisfaction.

Serena K.

Yelp
Stay away from this place and their rip off QR codes charging $18/pp just for the privilege of getting ripped off. Bought two wooden spoons at the store marked $10 each. They took the tag off and charged me $12 each. $10 for a thin baguette; $6 for a small cookie. Was so nice back several years ago. Now it's a money bleeding scammers paradise. Never again!

Daniel B.

Yelp
Really enjoyed a trip here for apple picking! Tons of different varieties and the apples were all delicious. The corn maze is excellent and one of the best I've seen, the cider donuts are delicious, and the food choices are top notch (the wood fired pizza is amazing!). There could be some more signage as tk which trees have which apples and more tables in the food area, but all in all a great spot for picking!

Evan K.

Yelp
Growing up, I used to frequent this orchard, as in- every year my family would go to this place for apple picking.. Sadly my family moved out of the area, and the drive has become too far for us to make it work. Every other orchard we have tried just doesn't come close to the magic that we experience when we go to Outhouse. Anyways this year we decided to go back. It wasn't me and the immediate family member's I grew up with, it was my new family, my wife, infant daughter and our next door neighbor Ralphie. We had a blast! This orchard is owned and ran by the Outhouse family. They are great people that try their best to make everyone's experience special. There is many different veggies and fruit available for purchase, hay rides, corn mazes, and tasty snacks too. My favorite part about going to pick apples isn't even the apples themselves, because I am highly allergic to them, so I just like to have them on display in the fruit bowl on my counter (I usually wind up giving them out to the trick or treaters in my neighborhood that I dont like).. My favorite part of the orchard is the tent where they sell popcorn. The vendors that run the popcorn station are great people, another family operation. They even accept money through Venmo! The product that they deliver is second to no popcorn I have ever had, it's crunchy, buttery, hot and fresh and the kernel's don't get stuck in your teeth! A quick story thats unrelated to the popcorn itself but directly related to the butter. This most recent time I was at the orchard, I was enjoying my fourth bag of popcorn when I accidentally let go of my babies stroller. The stroller began to roll down the hill, so I started to scream and run after it but the handle was just out of my reach and I could get to it. Running as fast as I could I just barely got a hand on it, but the butter from the popcorn made the handle way to slippery and my hand lost its grip - I fell flat on my face trying to get to that stroller. In the moment I was eating the popcorn so ferociously that I didn't even realize that my baby had not been in the stroller, she was in my wife's arms at the time. So I basically ran after the rolling carriage, down the hill and risked my well being for no reason. The vendor at the popcorn stand, went down the hill after me and he pulled me up off of the ground and on to my feet, with his strong arms. Everyone was pointing and laughing at me, but not this man, this man understood, and he cared. His name is Mike. I feel like I have known him for years just by the way he has treated me, he carried me back up the hill to his tent and he administered first aid to all of my scrapes and bruises. His wife Theresa, is the co-owner of this popcorn operation, she gave me a free bottle of water and a handful of napkins, because I had been crying so hard. For all of this I am forever grateful. This family took me under their wing on one of the worst days of my life.. I highly recommend going to this orchard and I highly recommend visiting the popcorn tent.

Brittany R.

Yelp
Very disappointed, and it seems I'm not the only one based on recent reviews. I've never been to an orchard where they charge for parking and require reservations in advance, but they had a lot of activities so I figured it was fine. Unfortunately, they charge for every single thing. The website is not clear that you MUST pay $30 or $40 for an apple bag just to get into the orchard, in addition to your advance parking and reservation charge of $30. The website is also not clear that the maze or hay ride are not included. They don't have a price list anywhere online. It's very misleading.

Paula K.

Yelp
Twenty five dollars just to park!!! That says it all. Apple bags are $30 to start. No mustard for hotdogs!!

Cory N.

Yelp
Not to be confused with Harvest Moon which is across the street. Outhouse has apple picking, hayrides, a covered farm market, cider donuts, some local vendors, cider donuts, friendly staff, cider donuts, and a long line for cider donuts. Bags for apple picking run $30 for small bags and $45 for larger bags. They take Apple Pay throughout. I'm a fan of green apples, so start to the left if you're like me. The earlier in the season you go, the less you have to jump and climb for good apples. Note that this is not an organic orchard, so clean the apples before you eat them. Always a fun day there.

Lily G.

Yelp
I really didn't like how I saw people stuffing their stop and shop grocery bags with apples when we paid expensively for our multiple large bags. You guys removed certain trees in the parking lot that had really delicious apples last time. We went a bit further to get them and it wasn't the same. First time we got apples, I was eating 2-3/day but with a mix of new ones last time, I only ate 1 apple every few days. Only old fashion donuts were available, I was disappointed. Even the girl there said they're the same as the apple and pumpkin donuts. No they're not lol they distinctly have different taste to them. Her taste buds must not be working. The apple strudel was yummy. The pumpkin pie was way too sweet and too strongly spiced. When we got home, we saw that it leaked sugary liquid and wasn't a fan of the apple jelly. This visit was a little disappointing compared to the other times we've been here. Not sure if we'll be back next year, maybe it's time to try another orchard.

Mia N.

Yelp
Soooo much fun here! Me and my girls came out to do a little apple picking and photo opp, obviously. Each car has a $12 entry/parking fee. Not bad at all. Although we went late in October, there were still a significant amount of apples for us to pick. Each bag is $30 - with us kind of pricey but worth the experience. 4 people can share a bag. They also have vegetables to lick as well. A few friends grabbed a few peppers and kale while we were there. It's important to note they have REAL food and a great store. They offer hot dogs, burgers, pizza, fries and the real star of the show, apple cider donuts. I've been to three farms this fall season and these donuts were by far my favorite. So appley (is that a word) and just OMGGGGG. We ended up taking the apples we picked that day and made a pie/crumble hybrid. I included the picture because obviously, you care. Def will go back next year!

Anthony T.

Yelp
As a local resident I usually steer clear of the orchards particularly in the fall when mostly out of towners come up for apples, cider donuts, pies etc. nothing against them but local roads become crowded and difficult to navigate prices are steep, but the duration of the sales window is somewhat limited. A better option is Salingers.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Really adorable, dog-friendly, manageable, not-too-busy orchard nearby. This is the secret go-to, way less crowded and better run than Harvest Moon. It's got a great corn maze full of facts you have to find. My only quips with this place are that there's no signs near the apple orchards so you don't know the kinds of apples you're picking and no candy apples at the shop.

Madison L.

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend. The Customer service wasn't great, no workers around to help direct. And the place was a mess. Not worth the trip.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Outhouse Orchards is a great farm to visit, especially in the fall. It's a beautiful expanse of land, with fresh apples and beautiful trees, a pumpkin patch filled with pumpkins and gourds ranging in size and variety and a cute, yet sizable farm stand shop with delicious jams, jellies, pies, donuts - the best homemade donuts, and the freshest, home grown tomatoes, corn, apples and other produce farm to table...they also have hayrides, live music, food trucks and pre-Covid a bouncy house for the kids, which hopefully in time we will see again (they are not a good idea in the Covid era) Worth mentioning, they are also very nice there. Considering the volume of people and how busy they get, it feels like a friendly family farm. The owner even shared the story of how the tractor near the front by the sunflower patch was his Great Grandfather's near the first apple tree they had planted. The prices may seem a little high, but they really aren't keeping in mind that if we want to keep having farms to visit in our future, they have to charge to keep things running, keep them fresh and keep them local. My family looks forward to visiting Outhouse every fall, and if you're looking for an enjoyable afternoon, you should too

Althea L.

Yelp
It's a lovely little orchard with well organized market, food stands/trucks, and nice staff. We had a great time here. On the third Sunday of October, it's not crowded and there's almost no line for most of the stuff here. The only line we waited is only 5 minutes to get the apple picking bag. There are plenty of open space for kids to run around and it's just a beautiful and relaxing experience for us. The hayride is $5 each for age 4 and above. It's about 15 minutes drive around the orchard with a live cowboy guitar performance. For apple picking, a small bag is $25 and a big bag $35. The small bag is good up to 40 lbs which is a great option to us. The apple picker is each $5 deposit. We didn't go too far into the orchard but only picked the one ( cortland) that's the closest to the entrance. Apples were all on the upper part of the trees and a picker is a must. There were buckets of already picked apples ( Fuji, honeycrisp, etc) on the way out for you to fill up your bag. They have a little bouncy house $3 a child for 10 minutes. It's right next to the picnic tables and a great set up for adults to have some after-picking rest while the kids play. Apple donuts and cold cider are delicious too! We live in Manhattan and usually rent a car to get out of the city. This weekend there's seriously not a single zipcar available for a day trip, so I decided to try to take public transportation the very first time to go apple picking. Since I want to minimize the traveling time, the farm/orchard options are pretty limited. With metro north it's about an hour from grand central to Corton Falls, then a 5 minutes cab ride to both Harvest Moon and Outhouse - the drop off and pickup point is right in front of the Harvest Moon. There are police officers to direct traffic and you can easily walk across the road to Outhouse from there.

Diana W.

Yelp
Came here on Monday after stopping by Harvest Moon down the street. Similar sized pumpkin patch, but they had corn maze and hayrides. Wished I had try those but I was short on time. Even though their store is smaller, they have a larger selection of jams/jellies. Glad I got to stop by both. Free admission/parking on weekdays.

Olivia K.

Yelp
My family and I go every year to pick peaches and a variety of apples. Their apple cider donuts are TO DIE for, I buy 2 dozen just for myself. Apple cider is always delicious (both hot and cold). The little market stands they have, while a little pricey, is worth every cent. Locally made soaps, beeswax candles, raspberry jalapeño jam (a household staple) and so much more. Be prepared to walk if you want to explore the whole orchard + the corn maze. I recommend going any day except weekends if you want to avoid a huge crowd near the entrance.

Melissa M.

Yelp
I was afraid that there wouldn't be any apples left or that the crowds would kill us. However, the orchard across the street with the shiny fall festival vibe attracted the majority of the crowds. In the morning there was enough space and plenty of apples to go around. Luckily you can do your apple picking here then check out the festivities across the street when you're done. Shuttle from the metro north is $5/head. Be sure to rush off the train so you don't have to wait for the next round of vans. They can take about 40 people each round. Also note this will drop you off at the festive orchard but outhouse is across the street, up the hill.

Yelp
Had a great time with my friends at Outhouse. Went here instead of Harvest Moon because it was cheaper for apple picking. It is waaay less crowded than Harvest Moon. We got lucky and got to pick some peaches too! They are hairy white peaches. There is also a cute sunflower patch right as you walk in that is perfect for photos. One of the workers by the corn maze was kind of rude and sassy, so 4 stars.

Yelp
We have been coming here since my son was 4. He is now 16 and we think it's time to find a new place to do our annual apple picking. We used to love this place because it was wholesome and welcomed dogs. It was well-kept, well-run, with had plenty of cut-outs for fun picture taking, a corn maze and made a good fall American party. And the apples, while sprayed, were tasty and sweet. Today, it's none of the above. They give you a QR code to download the map of where the kinds of apples are, and it's a map that's old. A sign tells you there are Fujis to be picked but nowhere can you find it on the map. The orchards are not labeled so you have no idea what variety you are picking. It's absolutely frustrating. Worse, the apples are tasteless and not too big - clearly spiked with growth chemicals to keep up with the demand from the city folks who had discovered them in the last years. You pay $30 for a 1/2 bushel of tasteless apples heavily sprayed with pesticides. Meanwhile, the ground is covered with rotten apples and you have to be so careful not to slide on them and fall accidentally -- we witnessed a few happening... a lawsuit waiting to occur. I'm OK with farmers charging city folks a premium to come apple picking but deliver the premium quality that comes with the premium price tag please! Otherwise, it's just a sham and a scam. $25 for parking, $18 for a cardboard pizza (next size up from personal) with poor quality cheese (you can smell the curdle), $14 for a dz donuts and $5 for a hot apple cider in a cheap small Dixie paper cup with a plastic lid! Add the $30 1/2 bushel apples and if you go hay riding, or buy anything else, it's a $100+ day for an experience that you didn't get too much value for. Dear farmers at Outhouse -- it will be nice of you to deliver some quality with the high prices you charge. City folks with their budgets for $6 Lattes and $2000 LV bags will be wiling to pay, but when you deliver subpar quality apples, and don't take care of your place, these city folks will leave with a bad taste in their mouth and think maybe they won't come back again and apple picking is not all that cracked up to be. I'd love for them to keep coming back -- charge the high prices, but deliver. It's only fair.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday and arrived around 10:30 am. This orchard was a nice straightforward drive about an hour away from where I am in Queens, NY. I figured that most of the people who come to the orchard would come on the weekends, and that seemed to be the case. When my group of three arrived, there were only children from a school on their local field trip and maybe two or three couples and families also at the orchard. Parking is on the grass field and is free on the weekdays, but you have to pay about $10 I believe for parking on the weekends/holidays. When you arrive onto the orchard and finish parking, the first thing you see is the benches that people sit on to enjoy a snack or drink and the actual market itself in which the donuts, cider and other food/fruit/drinks are sold. The donuts go for half a dozen for $8 and a dozen for $14 I believe, and the cider is sold by the quart or gallon. Would highly recommend the donuts, as they were freshly made, warm, melted in the mouth and had a good coating of sugar which added a crisp into each bite. The apple cider was also good; it was sweet which complimented the donuts well. There were cups near the cashier which you could use to pour the quart or gallon sized apple cider into. Once we finished eating and got onto the actual orchard, there was a map that showed the location of the different fruits/vegetables. There were many types of apple trees present, including Macintosh and Fuji. There was a corn maze that was not attended to when we went that day, but normally you would pay to enter. There were also hay rides that also weren't tended to but I'm sure you could ask to do if you wanted. The apples and pears were all fresh and delicious, and you had to pay for the bags to pick them. Overall, would come again. The leaves were changing colors and the flowers/trees looked beautiful. The staff were nice and friendly, and I would recommend coming on the weekdays as it seems to be less busy. Perfect for photos as well.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by Outhouse Orchards. We have gone to numerous farms throughout the tri-state area. I would say this is one of the more basic places BUT with that came a lack of crowds (we got there at 9 am.) You buy the bag ahead of time $25 which is similar to other places BUT this bag is 2x-3x larger. I could take a star away because it is very hilly and the grass was very high and scratchy but we really felt that we would be happy to come back and recommend it to others. Apple Cider Donuts were very good. Pumpkin Donuts were ok. As of 9/2015. Apple Bag is $25 Parking is $5.

Yelp
Had a really lovely time here! It's expected that a weekend in October will be super busy, which it was- but the market was fully stocked and enticing with all the delicious ciders and preserves and syrups. The orchard was very nice, large and a good variety of apples to pick! I recommend this orchard for sure!

Yelp
This place is great. There's lots to do, from the giant shopping area with live music, fresh donuts and tons of fruit, vegetables and pumpkins galore. There are also lunch options--nothing really healthy but pretty burgers, hot dogs and pizza. The hayride was cute and included a singer which made the trip fun. Everyone enjoyed it and we left with tons of delicious produce. It's true: There are some things that require cash but now there are lots of things there that take cards. Also: Definitely go early. We will be back!

Yelp
Went there only for the apple cider donuts and they were the worst ones we've ever had. Very oily- tasted just like cooking oil covered in sugar. Bought a dozen and only ate 2.... Threw out the rest. Garbage!!!

Yelp
The Outhouse is your typical orchard with the same stuff as the other guys. The apples are delicious and their other fruits look good too. Bought a bag of beautiful frying peppers. They were delish! They are a bit pricey so I only buy a few things here. I think the main attraction is that it looks gimmicky and you can pick apples. The donuts are 1.50 each and leave a bit of an aftertaste. Overall, it is cute and is a fun thing to do so add to the bucket list.

Yelp
I went on a Tuesday afternoon to beat the crowd. $25 for a small sized bag and $35 for a large. We purchased the large bag in an attempt to get our money's worth - which we did. There weren't many people out which is exactly how we wanted it. After filling our bag we bought Apple cider (which tasted a little bitter), donuts (pumpkin and apple flavored which were OK- nothing special) and maple syrup which we have yet to try. I'm sure all the fun stuff is out on weekends such as the turkey legs and hay rides - but I expected a little more for a weekday.

Yelp
Great place to picks apples and other fruits. BUT, what happened to the smoked turkey legs?? There used to be so much food here!

Yelp
This was my first time ever going apple picking. The overall experience was pleasant--but that was mostly due to Harvest Moon across the street. You have a better variety of foods to choose from, and the overall atmosphere is quite pleasant. It's also way more lively. However, we went across to Outhouse to do some apple picking, and the reception we received was very subpar. We stood in line and watched a woman be so polite to 2 young ladies--explaining where to go, what to do, etc. However when we came to the front of the line, all of a sudden she was "busy". Hmmm...ok. She told us the gentleman next to her will take care of us. He glances over at us and proceeds to speak to who looks like a friend. When he finally asked us if we would like to buy a bag, we said yes, he told us the price and my friend reached for his card which he literally pulled out in a few seconds. The man sees all of this--and goes back to a conversation with someone else! He keeps glancing over and KNOWS we're ready to pay, but still takes his sweet time. If we hadn't traveled all the way there to do apple picking, I would've definitely turned around and left. He eventually says "sorry guys, $25". He processes the card, hands us the bag and turns around like we never even came up to begin with. We asked him where do we go, etc--you know: like the lady did before. He just pointed up the hill and said that someone will help us up there. Get up the hill--no one's there. We go to the nearest area to pick apples, and found out we should've gotten a pole. Luckily, someone else gave us one eventually. The rest of the experience went well. I don't know what the issue was--but the experience I rate great, the customer service was horrendous. I'll try another orchard next time.

Yelp
This was the biggest waste of money and time. I go apple picking every year and this was the worst orchard experience I've ever had. No where on the website did it say that this ticket was for parking only. The description said that it was for entry to the orchard. After we parked, we went to get doughnuts, which were awful and weren't even apple cider ones. You had to order 1/2 dozen for $9 or full dozen. We ordered 1/2 dozen and shared 1 and threw the rest away. Then we went to go pick apples using our own bag and were stopped and told that it was required to purchase an apple picking bag for a minimum of $30 in addition to the parking if we even wanted to enter the orchard. The corn maze and hay rides were also additional charges. It also says "no refunds" everywhere! So, we paid $30 to park and do absolutely nothing. We weren't just going to sit there next to the portapotties so, we left really pissed off. I love supporting small businesses but this was misleading and awful. I wish I could get a refund for this.

Yelp
$10 - Parking $3 - Bouncy House $4 - Face Painting $25 - Apple bag You get the idea. You will be charged for everything except the outhouses, which had no toilet paper in them. With that being said, it will scratch your itch to go apple picking. Get there as EARLY as possible on a weekend. The traffic backs up as far as a mile before the exit off the highway. The scenic route will take you to the Titicus Reservoir, which is breathtaking. It's also got less cars.
