I was in invited to a work dinner event at the Outrigger Canoe Club. We were treated to a buffet style dinner in one of their private rooms. The menu consisted of a couple of appetizers that we got to choose from: seafood, spring rolls, goat cheese toast, edamame, and coconut shrimp. The main course consisted of salad, mediterranean cous cous salad, rolls, rice, roasted vegetables, grilled lemongrass chicken, braised short ribs, lemon caper mahi-mahi. There were also two small dessert items that were up titled chefs choice canapé duo. One was the chocolate mousse cup, and the other was a Lilikoi tart.
I really enjoyed the buffet style dinner because it gave everybody the option to eat as much of the items they liked plus there were leftovers that we were able to take home. My favorite was the Mediterranean couscous salad because it paired really nicely with their celery seed dressing. The chicken was perfectly moist and flavorful, but it reminded me of a shoyu chicken. I heard the slow braised short ribs were very tender. However, I think the mahi-mahi was a little overdone.
Dessert was perfect because you were able to choose which one you liked and then you can also take multiple if you liked one more than the other.
The view was perfect from the private room. We had a reservation scheduled for 6 PM and we just missed the sunset in November. But I expect maybe other times of the year, you can catch the sun setting into the ocean.
