OUTRIGGER Mauritius Beach Resort

Great experience at this hotel with a very warm staff and overall great service. We were warmly greeted by William who followed up on us during our stay until our checkout and was of great help. The restaurant personnel was also fully committed to making our experience unique. The only “problem” was technical with TVs looking like they might have had a few connection problems in our rooms. But we weren’t bothered by it as the many outdoors activities available were awesome. We only told the staff at the time of departure. This property is not suitable for premium travellers or special-occasion stays, despite how it is marketed. We booked a Club Beachfront Junior Suite, expecting a high level of comfort and service consistent with the pricing and branding. Instead, for most of our stay, the air conditioning and ceiling fan in the suite were non-functional. In a tropical destination, this is a fundamental failure — not a minor inconvenience. Despite repeatedly raising the issue with the front desk, the problem was never properly resolved and no alternative suite or room was offered. Being asked to adjust to temporary fixes in a Junior Suite reflects extremely poor service recovery for a property claiming to be premium. What stood out most was the lack of urgency and accountability. Premium hospitality is defined by how quickly and decisively problems are handled. Here, concerns were acknowledged but not acted upon in any meaningful way. Management eventually accepted that the experience fell short and offered limited compensation, but the response felt procedural rather than genuinely guest-focused. At this price point, one expects proactive ownership of issues — not minimum gestures. The location may be scenic, but a view cannot compensate for compromised comfort and weak service standards. Premium travellers, honeymooners, or anyone booking for an important occasion should approach this property with caution.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Outrigger Mauritius, and a big part of that was thanks to Sanjay and Azad Rajbhar. Their service was truly exceptional and went far beyond what we expected. They took the time to help us with the menu, patiently explaining options and making great recommendations tailored to our preferences. What really stood out was how they also suggested activities and experiences around the island, things that were completely outside their job scope but they did it with genuine enthusiasm and care to make our stay memorable. Their warmth, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra mile made a huge difference to our holiday. Thank you, Sanjay and Azad, for such outstanding hospitality. I stayed for two nights on an all-inclusive package at Outrigger, and while I initially expected an average experience, I was genuinely impressed from the very beginning. The welcome itself set the tone for our stay. Harsh at the reception provided a very warm and professional welcome and guided us throughout the two nights whenever we needed assistance. ||The room was modern, spacious, and beautifully designed. The highlight for me was the large jacuzzi, which I thoroughly enjoyed with a bottle of wine—an excellent way to relax. Housekeeping and service staff across the property were consistently courteous and prompt whenever we requested amenities.||The food and beverage experience was outstanding. I would like to specifically thank Damini, Kavi, Big and Sunny for their wonderful service at the bar and restaurant. The cocktails were exceptional—especially the strawberry mojito, bellini, and others. The variety and quality of food exceeded expectations, offering an extraordinary selection. As a cheese lover, I did feel the cheese selection could be expanded. During the stay, the options were limited to Emmental and Gouda, with Brie available only on one day. That said, this did not significantly impact my overall satisfaction.||Overall, I was very satisfied with my hotel stay and would rate it 5/5. I do, however, have a few constructive suggestions for continuous improvement: The staff at the boathouse could be more welcoming. From a sustainability perspective, larger-format bottles instead of miniature ones would be more environmentally friendly. Improved air conditioning and ventilation at the buffet restaurant would enhance comfort, as it currently feels under-aerated.||That said, our family had a wonderful experience. The stay was excellent value for money, and we will certainly be returning in the future.

I had a lovely time at the Outrigger & Mauritius. I stayed for 16 days for my 60th birthday celebrations. I was greeted by such lovely reception staff & mangement on arrival, i was shown to my room by the lovely Isha, (so lovely & helpfull) Rob (management) was so lovely & helpful. Because being Gluten free & not really a meat eater i struggled to find food in the buffet restaurant but they have amazing top chefs that went out of there way even on busy days to make me gluten free meals that i wanted. Some of my meals was absolutly gorgeous. My evening meal at the plantation on my birthday was out of this world cooked specially by the top chef, i even had GF cake. I just wish i could remember his name. He cooked me a few absolutly gorgeous meals while on holiday. Other members of staff that made our holiday special goes to management of le Bleu bar Kavi, an absolute credit, so kind & caring & nothing too much trouble, he us so good with his staff, i shall miss Kavi & Geraldine, Sunny, chatteau, and also the amazing Runga (always looked after me & making sure i was getting lovely GF food in the restaurants. I wish i got to say goodbye & thank you for all his help) also chutto & Annay in the buffet restaurant who had the loveliest smile. And not forgetting the lovely Chand in the bar. The pool is lovely and well maintained. I loved the little restaurant overlooking the sea day & night especially the lovely mango dessert.

What an experience. Sprawling properly bang on the beach with clean beach line. Was settled in beach view room followed by beach villa, you wake up to the sound of waves crashing on the shores with picturesque Sunrise. Property is very well maintained, but with signs of age, which in my opinion app the extra flavor to the over all outlook of the property. Mercado, La Blue restaurants, we frequently visited. Both were very comfy, and inviting. I went with wife and my toddler. We had great time here. Service could have been better but given the size of property and number of guests, it's not a downside. All the members of staff, reception, restaurant service staff did their best. Special thanks to Mr Kooshal from reception and Mr Azad, the chef from Mercado were very helpful through out the stay. It's located on the southern part of the island, in the midst of nature and on the beach, one should expect little less connectivity to the local market places, which is very well compensated by the in house store. Overall it was very pleasant and rejuvenating time we we spent here at Outrigger! Thank you for the Hospitality

Sharing some reviews of the property on my day 1 (12/27) . While i still have 5 more days at the resort 1. I was asked to pay 11200Mauritian rupees for a new year gala. This was paid in cash. Upon request i was provided by receipt. See attached copy of reciept. This is a frauduelnt receipt for a new year gala. While this was paid in cash. See the content of reciept and what it says 2. Staff is least intersted ..they are focussed on selling you only All Inclusive deals. 3. Since i didnt buy All Inclusive deal. I was humilated by not providing me an early check in. While i arrived at 09:00am i was informed that check in time is 02:00pm. All other people who arrived at the same time were provided an early check in but i was made to wait till 02:00pm..front office staff lead by khusboo, melissa made zero effort to help 4. Food is of terrible quality with limited to no options 5. My ac was not working. A phone call tool more 30 mins to respond Update as on 12/31 1. Rod was assigned as service manager. Hes one of the best at this hotel. He is the only one who is making any effort to correct anything Management at Outrigger, It is unfortunate that inspite of Mr Rods best effort i have to list down your service failures and why you need an overhaul a. There is no letter/information provided to people who book through agoda on amenities at facilitiy. b. No resturant displays time to close/procedure for booking c Gala dinner at 12/31- was closed by your pasta chef at 09:45pm. On asking him on closing time he confirmed it was 10:00pm but he chose to close the counter at 09:45pm. This was 2nd incident in the last 3 days when the staff proacitvely closed kitchen even before closure time d. Your staff is ill trained..90% of them being interns from multiple universities they have zero knowledge of procedures and policies or customer service e. Your dining area roof needs to be fixed..it leaks..for last 5 days i have seen the same ..it needs to be fixed..will upload live picures F. I'm currently staying at the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort. To be clear, this is a beautiful property in a stunning part of Mauritius—the beach and surroundings are genuinely impressive. And while the location has its appeal, several aspects of our experience have fallen short of expectations for a 5-star property. Below, I'll outline the issues we've encountered based on our visits to the bar and buffet, as well as interactions with reception and staff. Bar Experience: The bar service has been notably slow and inefficient. Staff appeared inexperienced, requiring us to request basic items like water and cutlery multiple times before they were provided. Regarding the food, we ordered a pizza, which arrived as what seemed like a thin tortilla base topped with minimal tomato sauce and cheese—far from the quality one would anticipate at this level of resort. Yuck! Buffet Experience: The Indian-themed buffet offered a reasonable selection, including about four curries that were palatable, though they lacked the depth of authentic Indian cuisine. The dessert options were a highlight, with a varied assortment available. However, service was inconsistent; we often had to actively seek out waitstaff for essentials like cutlery or refills of water, and no one proactively checked on our table to see if we needed anything. Additionally, we were unexpectedly charged for bottled water during the meal. A further frustration arose when my niece didn't eat much—staff informed us that while takeaway boxes were available, policy prohibited providing them for uneaten food, even for children. This seemed like an overly rigid rule that could be handled more flexibly. Communication: Attempts to inquire about the dinner menu via phone were frustrating. I was put on hold for many minutes, which felt ridiculous for a simple request. When I called reception again, I was transferred again, and no one ever picked up. On a positive note, the chef in person was good, listened to our feedback, and was very polite. This points to a very chaotic and inexperienced team of staff overall, with trainee staff likely contributing to these mishaps. Beach & Pool: While the beach is visually stunning, the water conditions felt unsafe for swimming—the current was consistently strong rather than calm, so we ended up spending most of our time at the outdoor pool instead. The pool itself is nice, though it could be a bit cleaner. Overall, these service, communication, and policy shortcomings have detracted from what could have been a more enjoyable stay. I hope management addresses them for future guests. Management could benefit from adopting a more relaxed and accommodating approach, as some interactions felt unnecessarily petty and unwelcoming given the circumstances. Verdict so far: Recommend against spending vacation time/$$$ at Outrigger
