"Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Both of Waikiki’s Outrigger hotels are a good value, but this one is a little bigger and a little quieter. It’s right on the beach, just north of the main resort cluster, and though a short walk to the middle of the action, far enough to feel out of the fray. The hotel itself is a quintessential Hawaiian family resort—big and friendly, with an unmistakable good-time vibe, old-school Polynesian decor throughout, and any number of activities on offer. The pool is set back from the beach and nothing fancy (no waterslides, no swim-up bar, and up against a giant wall), but it’s large enough for a serious game of Marco Polo, and there are plenty of lounge chairs to go around. Perhaps the best reason to stay here is the beach—a fairly narrow but sparkling white strand with more elbow room than its sister beaches; the rocky bottom may have something to do with that, but it’s a good place to learn to surf and a great place to catnap in the sun. One warning: the hotel lobby may feel overly commercial to some, what with a row of gift shops and a hard-to-miss timeshare desk, but it’s easy enough to ignore, if you wish."

"Breezy and Beautiful on the Beach In Honolulu , just a couple blocks off Kalakaua Avenue sits the Outrigger Reef on the Beach hotel. The open-air lobby with several shops on the ground floor and a tropical garden near the entry make this hotel a quieter and beautiful place to stay in Waikiki. The rooms are comfortable and the property sits right on the beach. Outrigger has a variety of properties to choose from on Oahu and throughout Hawaii (but this one remains my favorite)."

Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort

"Following a $110 million renovation, this Waikiki resort has spanking-new rooms, three new restaurants, an expanded spa, and a rebuilt pool and deck. The revamped lobby is adorned with Polynesian canoe art, handpicked by historian Herb Kane. Rooms and suites face onto the ocean or toward Honolulu, and come equipped with flat-screens and Nintendo systems for easily-distracted kids. All of which frees you up to go to the spa for a couple’s Lomi Lomi massage or catch live music with a tropical drink in your hand at the Kani Ka Pila Grille."

Fab hotel, great location, great service, all at a very reasonable price. Although it does get very busy, everyone is on point and was very helpful indeed. It's all new so nothing has deteriorated. It's well kept. Multiple eateries on site with yummy food. Overlooking the beach, and does have direct access although that small breach is pebbley, so advise walking over to the main Waikiki beach, straight through other hotels. Would definitely visit again!

We had an incredible star at Outrigger Reef. I loved that it was a little off the main drag, but just a 5 minute walk from anything we wanted. The small private beach was a nice respite. The pool area & pool bar were great for the family. We also enjoyed the spacious fitness center, on-site shopping and the club lounge. Service was fantastic, especially at the club lounge and the valet!

Stayed in the hotel for 8 nights - we were aslo able to get late check out at 5pm which was greatly appreciated (at additional cost) as it allowed us to enjoy the ocean for another day since our flight was not until 9pm. We had a king suite which was very spacious, nicely decorated and clean. There was a microwave and a mini fridge. Upon check in we received a calendar with times and dates for events in the hotel such as bracelet making, vow Renewals ceremony etc. The hotel team from front desk, housekeeping, breakfast & dinner team at the club lounge and valet were amazing! The breakfast was delicious every morning, it had great a great selection each morning with a few changes each day. The team was super welcoming and lovely. We thourly enjoyed the appetizers daily in the lounge which also changed daily, it was a great selection. The hotel location is also a huge bonus, with a great beach outside the hotel, which we were able to spot turtles & seals on and many bars/restaurants and shops nearby which made it great for exploring. The hotel also has live music by the pool daily i think. I really appreciate the hotels mission for sustainability- we were provided with two water flasks in our room - there was a water fountain in the main level - definitely decreases plastic use! We also received a beach bag which was very useful. I highly recommend it! Thank you for another amazing stay!

This was a great stay if you’re in Waikiki and want to be near the tourist destinations. Our room was the “ocean view” not to be confused with the ocean front. We could see the ocean from our window, but still also saw the street, parks, and next door army museum. This was our first time in Hawaii and I think this was a good choice for us. The hotel has two restaurants attached, a pool, hot tub, and gym. There’s a small beach right in front, but I personally think it’s best to go elsewhere as it’s so busy. There’s also some small shops in the hotel (jewelry, clothes, snacks, sundries, etc.) you can also rent tours and a car through the hotel (but it’s cheaper to get a car through the airport). The staff was exceptional. I did not encounter anyone who as was anything other than excellent. I never stay at the same hotel twice, but I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to go to Waikiki for the first time.

The location is great; right in the middle of where you want to be but slightly separated by a breaker wall from the busy waikiki beach and made the resort feel a little more private. We had lunch at monkeypod while there and food was really good. Room was very clean. Beds were very comfortable and room was quiet. We were really happy that we picked this resort over others that we saw while there. We paid a little extra to have access to the voyager 47 club lounge and that turned out to be a great add-on. They serve appetizers there in the afternoon and breakfast in the morning. The food was great and this turned out to be a big hit for our family. Thank you.

Google
Ocean view was great. All staff were very helpful. The room was very clean and no issues at all. The first floor has a lot of stores if you need something quick without leaving the grounds. 5 minute walk from high end shops. The beach out front is great also.

Google
Really great experience! We stayed here for a conference and it was absolutely perfect. Room was a "partial ocean view" with a beautiful view of the Hilton lagoon area. Very comfy King bed and pillows. Room was nicely updated. The lobby and pool were clean and fun. The restaurants on site were both great! Plus there were little stores and places to book activities - it felt like we didn't need to leave. Though, it was also walkable to many other restaurants and shops, and lots of HUI quick-rental cars nearby. I loved that the pool and ocean are just steps apart, so we went in the pool, then went to the ocean for a while, then came back to the pool. It was also very easily walkable to the conference center. I was unsure if I should pick it, given I'd never heard of Outrigger before the conference website suggested it, but it was a truly excellent stay and I would stay there again!

Google
The location is the only thing I could say is great about this place. The room size is good but if I need to rate on my personal experience I’m not impressed. Our room was literally up against the elevators and you hear the motor going all night. Imagine the sound of a plane flying overhead, yes that all night. They charge a security deposit yet the rugs in my room were stained and not cleaned/replaced. I would think this would be a reason to use someone’s security. Staff was nice but sometimes I felt like I was bothering them with my questions. I might stay here again for the location of the resort but I’d make sure my room was far away from elevators.

Yelp
$110 million dollar upgrade but felt outdated. Dim lights, dirty bathrooms with old fixtures, and the longest wait times for elevators. Mostly opted for the stairwell which stunk of garbage. It's the dive bar of hotels on the beach. There is a pool with no jacuzzi. The beach is steps away which is the only reason for the one star rating.

Yelp
I am so impressed with Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. Let me start off by saying that we used to stay at this resort many years ago, and then tried out the competition and stayed with the competition for many, many years. Well, until this year. Here's why we changed... We had reservations for the competitor until about a week and a half before our trip. Through the grapevine, not the hotel, we found out they had been on strike for several weeks. Without being contacted by the hotel to inform us, we did some investigating, and decided to cancel our reservation at the competitor and rebook at Outrigger. And to be honest, I and so happy we did. From the moment we arrived, Outrigger Reef showed us a great time. Rey at check-in was friendly and informative. Our room was absolutely stunning and comfortable. And I should mention, the resort went through an 80 million dollar renovation just a few years ago. Well done Outrigger, well done! Back to our room for a sec though. We had a suite on the 11th floor with an amazing view. The room was plush and modern. We loved it. There are 2 great restaurants, both super yummy, and an ABC store on property. The hotel is so clean, and smells so good. Every single staff member we encounter were great. The beach, beautiful Waikiki beach. This hotel is right on the beach. I mean, walk out the door and your toes are in the sand. You can find tons of space for sunbathing and lots of beach activities. The weather did not cooperate too much this trip, as it poured down rain almost everyday. But we still had the best time. Outrigger Reef, you have earned back our business, and look forward to staying with you again next year. Thanks bunches for showing us a great time, and what we've been missing out on.

Yelp
Awesome hotel and the staff are so attentive to guests. My family and I will be back. We are going to be eating at the buffet to celebrate our granddaughters 18 birthday

Yelp
My first stay at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. Location is premium, walking distance to everything you really want to see. Beautiful property and love the open area that is the front desk checkin, with lounges all around. The large pool is across from the checkin area along with all the lounges and covered seating you could want. The restaurant there is an open bar with tables and umbrellas for your outdoor dining. There is live Hawaiian music there every night from 6-9pm. Bonus! Poolside service also available of course. Delicious food, ate there several times. Rooms are large and have lanais with varying views. Housekeeping is excellent. I would not hesitate to rebook at this lovely hotel. They genuinely want your stay to be the best possible. Mahalo, Outrigger Reef!

Yelp
This hotel is fabulous. The onsite restaurants are worth it. Live music and one and beach views at Monkeypod. ABC store and art gallery are welcome additions. Beach access is small but nice to have it close by. Fitness center is well equipped and centrally located walking distance to so much.

Yelp
We originally had Hilton Hawaiian Village booked through Costco travel but after finding that hotel to be under renovations and staff on strike we rebooked to outrigger reef and man we are sooo glad we did. All staff from front desk, to valet, to cleaning staff were so friendly even just walking by. The hotel is great, clean and comfortable rooms, great lobby, and everything you need in the shops. The restaurants at the hotel are awesome (try monkeypod for great view and food). The hotel isn't too expensive at all. They have tons of free activities and even do free vow renewal ceremony! Which we did and it was an amazing little beachside ceremony. Limited to 5 couples twice a week, so call and book it right after reserving your room. We will definitely be staying here again!

Yelp
First impressions count. The gentlemen at the valet are the first employees that welcome you. So much aloha and smiles. Brought a walker in case the line for Blue Note is extra long. Instead of going up the escalator, walk straight past the bell desk then there is an elevator. Check in is on the lobby one floor up. Fast easy check in show them your ID and credit card for incidentals. You have a choice of wrist band or card key. You are given extra cards for pool towels. Elevators to the rooms are to the left by Blue Note. I was told City View but hubs chuckled cuz we can see a glimpse of the ocean to the left of Royal Hawaiian Hotel. I love that the beds are lower in this room so I don't need to tippy toe or hop onto the mattress. Ahhh a staycation in Waikiki. Thanks Doc for getting us tickets to Blue Note for this evening's performance.

Yelp
Very average. Pros: the location is excellent; this place is close to all the restaurants and shops and is very walkable to the beach. The view is also great but given there are other hotels in the vicinity, I wouldn't say it is unique to that of others. Yes they have live music, but it's nothing another beach-front hotel doesn't have. Cons: Service. I wouldn't say that the services is bad, but it's nothing special. I get a feeling that they get so many tourists and people throughout, they take for granted every interaction, and it shows in their customer service; lack luster, uninterested, and some unfriendly. In some ways, they know they're going to get their rooms filled and so they have removed customer service as an important value. Average service at the hotel, and restaurants/cafes on site. The price is of course expensive, but given its competitors, it's fair. You're paying for the location and accessibility. Honestly, though, I'm not happy. I get very upset when businesses take their customers for granted because they know there are ample. It shows poorly on management and their values.

Yelp
We visited Hawaii twelve years ago and this was the hotel we chose and had a wonderful experience all those years ago and had an amazing repeat stay again. The location is fantastic, walking distance to the busy part of Waikiki but easy access via car to the major highways for trips while not cutting through Waikiki traffic. Valet parking service was always prompt and easy. The room was bright and airy and we were fortunate to be upgraded to the Ocean tower with a partial ocean view and Diamond Head view... the service was friendly and wonderful during our stay as well taking away the copious amount of sand we brought back from our travels. For our family of four it was one of the few hotels I could find in Waikiki with two proper queen beds (as opposed to double) and grateful for the extra space which allowed us to sleep well at night! We didn't partake of any of the resort activities but did enjoy the convenience of Starbucks near the lobby of the hotel, the ability to walk out of the hotel directly onto the beach, and the brief walk to the really yummy Halekulini Bakery.

Yelp
The Ourigger Waikiki Beach has my favorite restaurants and the Blue Note. There are a variety of stores and need to watch my spending in this hotel due to the temptations. Has a good unobstructed ocean view if you get a full ocean view room. Workers/ wait staff are courteous and polite. They seem happy to be there. Parking is challenging but I use the Royal Hawaiian shopping center next door where you just need to spend $10 to get a reduced rate.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Outrigger Reef. The hotel is located right on the beach. This made it so easy whenever we wanted to swim or lay out in the sun. We liked how the hotel has stores on the main floor. We also enjoyed the location of our hotel. The street wasn't so busy and if we wanted to get to the busier area with more shops it was just a short walk away.
google avatar

Sharzad M.

Yelp
The hotel itself is clean and well-maintained, with a welcoming atmosphere. Its proximity to Waikiki and the beach was a definite highlight, offering easy access to both areas. We also enjoyed the convenience of having good restaurants nearby. One of the standout features of the hotel was the free cultural activities like lei making, which added a nice touch to our experience. However, noise was a significant issue during our stay. There was ongoing construction/repair that made it difficult to relax or sleep during the day. Additionally, our room happened to be situated across from the ice vending machine, resulting in disruptive noise whenever someone used it, particularly at night.
google avatar

Monique A.

Yelp
What a stay! We changed hotels the second day of arriving from the Moana Surf due to no one allowed to open balcony sliding doors due to an incident the prior month. It paid off, we got upgraded to a beautiful corner suite facing the beach, slept with all the windows open. We got to see a few whales from our room. Our new go to place when we come to Waikiki.
google avatar

Yelp
Booked a room since we live Northshore and were going to a show at the bluenote. We went ahead and splurged for a suite since we don't stay in Waikiki often but wanted to get the full experience and also not drive after having a few festive libations. I can overall the check in process etc. was all good, it came to the room itself that was the problem. Mold and mildew everywhere, they were still trying to clean it when we checked in. In all fairness, they claimed there was a family in there for a week that wouldn't allow daily cleaning but I am a contractor and what I saw was not a weeks worth, it was long term. We could not even use the shower, or I should say did not use the shower, it was that gross. I am attaching pictures. If you really want a good experience, from food to clean rooms, don't stay here.

Yelp
I've never had anything less than a great stay at the Outrigger. Lots of new "attractions," if you will, have been added since last year. There is a new an on-site Starbucks that opens at 5 AM (BOOM!), there's a new Monkey Pod restaurant on-site on the ocean with fantastic mai tai's (fantastic isn't magnificent enough of a word) (BOOM!) and OMG the view (BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!); there's an on-site ABC store (BOOM); and, an art boutique (BOOM); and gift shops (BOOM! BOOM!)....mmmmmm. I may have forgotten something. Anyway, this is a great place to stay, it's in a great location, has great customer service, the beds are supa comfy (I wish I could take one and all of the pillows home), a great shower and it is just a beautiful place with a light, airy and happy holiday vibe that anyone would want on their vacation (BOOMITY BOOMITY BOOM BOOM BOOM!). And......BOOM!

Yelp
Deanna at the front desk is amazing with customer service, she not only knows her business and the area around it but she is an asset to the team. And Taylor at the Valet is also a huge asset. He is kind to a fault and also knows the business well and is really amazing at talking with guests and helping them find great places to eat, drink, and is spot on! Both deserve amazing raises and promotions. They both can lead and represent the outrigger brand effectively, with expert knowledge, & kindness, compassion, all while having the business sense of mind. I highly recommend this hotel and the two, in my opinion, best employees out of any hotel I've stayed with. Mahalo Nui Loa, Cheers! , Kili

Yelp
The TV has a Google Chromecast option which is amazing because you won't be limited to the screens of your devices. I haven't seen any other hotels with this feature. Rey at the front desk was insightful and efficient with our check in process. He even gave us an extra pool towel key card and Outrigger water flask since the room usually comes with just two. We had to kill time while we waited for our room to be ready but you can go across the street and get some spam musubi or stop by the ABC store. The bell desk held onto our things until our room was guaranteed at 3pm. The man who brought up our stuff with the mask under his chin was kind. The bed is big and wide. The pillows are plush but have structure so your head doesn't sink to the mattress. We were on the 10th floor so housekeeping didn't always get to us in time so if you're on the 10th floor definitely let the front desk know you'd like to schedule a cleaning. The beach is a walk away on the lobby level but this beach wasn't as plush as I thought it would be. My leg got cut up by rocks. A different beach we went to was softer. The toilet/shower area is separated by a frosty partition so if you want more privacy play some loud music or use the public restroom downstairs. There's a Starbucks conveniently downstairs near the drop off/pick up area.

Yelp
A fancy hotel in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii... There are several upscale places to stay in the Aloha State... Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort is one of them. You can tell that it's a higher end resort from the decor, spaciousness, friendly staff, and cleanliness. When I entered, I felt the fresh air, heard the sounds of the water feature, enjoyed the live music, saw the pool and outrigger canoe before reaching the reception desk, and sat inside Starbucks for a bit to enjoy the air conditioning... LOL! My friend and I had just walked about seven blocks. That's where the free parking was! Haha! We waited a while to get our chance at the hanging platform sofa. It's at the front of the sitting area. There are comfy seats spaced out for families to wait for one another, but that hanging sofa... It's a draw... Like a magnet... The "younger generation" gravitated towards it! We decided to walk to the back to see the beach. On the way, we noticed that the floor had tiles with Hawaiian words and phrases! Along the hallway, all kinds of shops offered items that visitors might want and need: Yetis, towels, shell lei, clothing, books, surfboards, jewelry, gifts, etc. The beach (with a striking view of Diamond Head) has a "wall" that juts out into the ocean. We strolled along and stopped because a bunch of people were looking down and taking photos of something... We figured out that everyone was oohing and awwing at two gigantic sea turtles! We have never been so close to these magnificent creatures swimming in their habitats before! They were having their seaweed dinner on the rocks - literally! It was so cute to see the turtles pop their heads up once in a while to catch some air! Kawaii!!! Everyone squealed with joy! I don't know how long we stood there staring, but the waves came up onto the wall often. One wave was high enough to reach our thighs! Haha! Luckily, Hawaiian waves are on the warmer side and our dresses and footwear dried off by the time we reached the car... It was a unique experience in Waikiki! I think we'll remember this evening for a very long time!

Yelp
Auntie Nadine and I came here to have dinner at Monkeypod Kitchen. We were roaming around the hotel, since we got here early. We saw a Starbucks, Local Motion and ABC Store. They also had an Outrigger Canoe and a rocking couch in the lobby that everyone wants to sit on. The hotel is very nice and clean. We head over to the back of the restaurant and there's a few steps that lead onto the sand. Next to the sand is a wall that extends out into the ocean. Being the adventurous people that we are, we ventured out there. Both of our sandals and dresses got soaked from the small waves but it was worth it. We saw two huge green sea turtles. They were two feet away. That's the closest that I've even been to one. Auntie said that means that we're blessed. I hope so.

Yelp
Slip and trip hazard near the pool here There's a low spot in the water Sitting by the side of the pool, I saw two people almost fall Management action is needed immediately

Yelp
We booked this hotel because the reviews raved about the pool. The pool is effectively unusable between 9am and 3pm due to construction noise. We ask reception about it and we're effectively told: "too bad so sad" with a shrug. The construction noise is apparently going to last for another two weeks so I would avoid booking until then. I'm disappointed though in the customer service. It would have been helpful to have a referral to a nearby hotel where we could buy a day pass to a pool where the noise pollution doesn't give you an optic migraine Disappointing first Hawaiian experience

Yelp
Spent a few days at this beautiful hotel before a cruise. It has a relaxing vibe and the rooms are nice and modern (wish I had taken a picture). They had a culture center that had some classes and one day we made flower leis, it was fun and the teacher was very friendly. The restaurant downstairs, Monkeypod Kitchen was really nice for breakfast with a gorgeous view of the ocean. We also went there for dinner one night and the sunset was amazing. They also have a Starbucks in the hotel, which is nice. Wish we had stayed here after the cruise, but we went to the Rainbow tower at the Hilton Hawaiian village. It was way to busy for me, and the rooms were old.

Yelp
The Outrigger Reef was a great place to stay! Pros: - 2 Free reusable water bottles per room (they even gave us an extra since we had 3 guests) - Lots of water filling stations - Free beach bag - Nice rooms, great view of the pool and beach - Free beach towels - Friendly staff - Abc store onsite - Walking distance to a lot of stores and restaurants Cons: - Live music every night (You might be able to hear it from your room but it should end by 10pm. Not sure if late night live music is something you can escape anywhere else) - Housekeeping never came to our room but they discounted our resort fee for this so we didn't mind. Plus we were able to get extra towels and pillow sheets anyways - Parking is $45 per day - Our restroom door was a sliding partition so you could hear everything going on Side note: We weren't part of the voyager's club and still has an enjoyable stay

Yelp
Huge shout out to several folks who helped us during our trip: Nelia, housekeeping Richard G., concierge with Blue Hawaii Denise, hostess at Kani Ka Pila grille The location is perfect if you plan on spending any time at the beach. It's only steps away. The front desk staff was all great, very helpful and friendly, the valet staff are also friendly and quick with pulling up your car, helping you w/bags, etc. The pool doesn't have a big shallow end, so if you have family who are non-swimmers, like we do, they're a bit limited for space in the pool. MonkeyPod restaurant breakfast was great. Make sure your room includes that option with the breakfast voucher Get there a little earlier if you want the beach-front table. The other tables still have a great view too.

Yelp
I had high expectations from this hotel but I was still mildly impressed. The hotel is beachfront and that was a plus but it is also situated beside a public park so it can get very crowded and touristy. The hotel itself is okay, recently remodeled, and the amenities are aplenty. Room bathrooms are standardly small. Our room was ocean view but not necessarily ocean front. I have to say it's more like partial ocean view. Staff were really nice and accommodating. The pool gets crowded fast so come early. All in all, it was a good hotel to stay at.

Yelp
Soooo impressed with Outrigger! Perfect spot on Waikiki Beach. We were able to walk the busy strip to eat at Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Kitchen. The hotel itself is beautiful with all the frills of a resort. We were gifted a few beach totes and pretty water bottles. And our wristbands gave us access to a breakfast buffet every morning. There were also a couple of restaurants inside with direct access to the beach. Pool is a little small, but with the beach just steps away, there's really no need to go to the pool. Room was nice and clean. Our cleaning service was a lovely woman. Very helpful! It was great having an ABC Store downstairs for sunscreen and bottled water. Although, it was a bit crowded, we understand that we were there during a peak time. Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We loved staying here! I had researched many hotels in the Waikiki area before our vacation to O'ahu and this is the one that consistently came out on top with regards to a balance of being close to Waikiki beach, but not on top of it while providing a romantic atmosphere, good food, and a clean room. This was our first time staying at an Outrigger and it won't be our last as it's a fantastic hotel all around. Our room was spotless and comfortable and had a great view of the ocean. The service was excellent both for our room and in the on-site restaurants. We really loved the location of the hotel as well as it allowed us to easily take our car and explore other parts of the island aside from Waikiki. The price was reasonable for O'ahu and we would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
This hotel was pretty good. The room was great, comfortable, and clean. It was close to the ocean and Waikiki. Customer service was friendly. They have a convenience store open in the lobby and there's a Monkeypod restaurant downstairs. They don't have a complimentary breakfast, but there is a Denny's nearby. Overall a great experience. Great place to jump into the jacuzzi in the morning before starting the day. Worth every penny.

Yelp
Enjoyed my stay here. It is what I expected. The hotel is nice and clean. Elevator system was nice and helped you go where you needed to go efficiently. The restaurants in site made it easy to get a bite to eat. Outdoor pools and simple walk to the beach. Cons: crowded but everything here is.

Yelp
Very nice resort! Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. The last two nights, however, we had really noisy neighbors upstairs banging, running, and jumping late at night which kept us awake. On the first night, we complained to the Front Desk about the noise, they told us the people upstairs checked out, which most likely explained that incident. The Front Desk did call us later and offered to move us, but we were all settled into the room and had plans that day, so we really didn't have time to move. I did specifically ask the lady who offered us another room who was going to check in above us and she didn't know. Maybe I should have taken their offer to move as a warning sign instead of a kind gesture. On the second night we heard noise, we called the Front Desk again and they told us they would investigate it. The noise did seem to slowly die down after that, but we had to call twice because it seemed like it took some time. The Front Desk then told us that a family with children were staying in the room above us which most likely explained all the noise. If they should have moved anyone, it should have been that family, especially since they just checked in. The hotel did eventually correct the situation and we were happy with the outcome. We still do recommend staying here and will look into their other properties.

Yelp
We booked the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort through Costco after another nearby hotel was on strike. We are SO GLAD we changed hotels. The Outrigger Reef is on the smaller side of hotels in Waikiki but it offers the most amazing experience. We will never stay in one of the giant mega hotels in Waikiki again. The staff at the Outrigger is extremely friendly and helpful. There is minimal resort walking to access all the amenities. If you've stayed in the mega hotels in Waikiki before you know what I mean, it can take you forever to get anywhere and the lines for almost everything are super long. The Outrigger has a nice saltwater pool and three different hot tubs. The Outrigger has two restaurants inside and is conveniently located to many other hotels on the main drag in Waikiki. I highly suggest before you arrive in Waikiki to download the Open Table app and make reservations for dinner every night otherwise you will not be eating at the most popular restaurants. The Outrigger is on the water but beach space is limited. You can walk either direction on the beach to access an abundant of beach access. The Outrigger is now our go to hotel in Waikiki. The rooms and decor have been updated in the last few years. You can get a good deal on this hotel through Costco Travel.

Yelp
Amazing hotel that was right by the beach! I especially loved the little balcony and even though we didn't specifically get a beach view room we did get a pretty good view of the beach & ocean- definitely a great way to start the day! The staff was incredibly friendly and always greeted us when they saw us and asked if there was anything we needed. They were very attentive! We had a very pleasant overall stay The only issue I had was our shower would sometimes go from hot to cold and back again but my family in the other room did not have the same issue so it might be localized to ours.

Yelp
Angie and Jackie took great care in ensuring our rooms were nice each day. Thank you for all you do. It was a wonderful stay. The employees were so kind and helpful. Would highly recommend this resort.

Yelp
Great hotel to stay cos of the location.. walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants. It's very easy to get an Uber to and from here as well. Noir hotel room was nice and overlooked the pool as well as the ocean. I liked that they leave you a complimentary beach bag in your room! And you can rent paddle boards/surfboards from the little beach area here. I would definitely consider staying here again!

Yelp
Stayed August 30 2022. This place is right on the water. Newly renovated but it is hard to find up to date pictures online. Many of the pics online is not what it looks like now. The place is nice. There are multiple towers but not every room has the amazing views. We paid $$$$ for the amazing view room and the patio door opened right over the water and you could hear the waves. Why 3 stars? For $450 a night I should be able to get my room serviced. The 10th floor did not have a elevator (you go to 9 1/2 and walk up a flight) . Remember they just remodeled and it is a PAIN dragging up suitcases and a baby and a drink and.... you get the idea. The TV didn't work but it got fixed the 2nd day. Again everything was fine ....but not terrific. I do wish families would watch their children better. But that is not Outriggers fault. You are close to an ABC market which is very important. There is a bar that offers basic hotel food. The pool is nice but will get crowded with kids. We also bought the voyager package for another $169 pp and you get breakfast and happy hour but if you are siteseeing you will probably miss it. Parking $40 a day. I have been to Honolulu several times and probably will not be back here. You are right near the ocean but you need to be a decent swimmer because the waves looked strong.

Yelp
Been coming to Hawaii since the 80s and this Outrigger is the best of all of them in my opinion Great location even though not much beach access but if you walk towards the Sheraton about 1 block you'll have unlimited space. The pool is great with two jacuzzis. Most days gotta get up early to get a spot since it gets crowded especially on weekends. They have tons of daily activities all week. Never had one negative encounter with any staff member, they have all been great and very friendly. Valet parking is quick and easy and the restaurants in the hotel are pretty good. Walking distance to the International Market place if you like shopping and other good restaurants. Don't forget to book a sunset cruise on the Catamaran inside the hotel. Best Catamaran ride I've been on in all these years and free drinks for only $64 per person. We will be back most likely next year with more of our family. Thanks Outrigger Reef for everything!!!!!

Yelp
Not a bad hotel experience! Food: Solid hotel food. We ate breakfast here once; bacon was plentiful and thick, and they were able to help make my dish gluten free by replacing the toast and potatoes. Hotel: It's small-ish but cozy hotel compared to some of the neighboring hotels. Room was a great size; I think we had the partial ocean in the Pacific Tower, and though we chose not to upgrade, I was really happy with our view of the ocean and nice balcony to enjoy it. We were told the room wouldn't get serviced but it was so nice to get our bed made and have fresh towels everyday! Hotel has nice live music each night (which we could hear from our room), a cultural center where we saw people making leis on our way out, and it also has easy access to the beach. My biggest complaint is that the elevators were very slow (and often one wasn't working); made for a much slower start but eventually we got the hang of it. Also, when we checked in, she forgot to give us breakfast coupons so be sure to ask if you paid for them. A nice place to stay at a much more reasonable price than some of its neighbors!

Yelp
This was our first time on any Hawaiian island and the staff here made us feel very welcome. From the valet to the front desk to the housekeeping staff everyone was great. The pool attendant actually gave us a great tip on avoiding the parking issues at a particular beach we wanted to go to. His recommendation was so good we just stuck with the beach he recommended us going to. We had a Pacific Tower - Ocean view room. It was great. We had a balcony view of the beach. It was an amazing view. The other balcony had a view of the front side of the hotel so we could see the Trump hotel as well as others nearby. For just looking at other hotels it was a great view as well. Both balconies had a table and chairs. The room itself was very clean and well put together. There's a refrigerator and a safe but no microwave. We didn't actually miss that for the most part. The only negatives I could really say about the room itself were that they used cheap toilet paper and the bathroom door did a weird thing when you opened it and closed it. It popped a little bit so it wasn't completely silent. Not a big deal. The one thing I will say about the bathroom is it's a little weird because the door is frosted glass and there is no lock on it. You need to really trust who you're staying with to avoid any embarrassments. Not a problem for us but for some it may be. Other than the beautiful room and the amazing location the other great thing about this hotel is the pool area. One night we decided to hit the pool for a little night swim and they had some live Hawaiian music going in the grill which is located next door to the pool. It kind of feels like what you always imagine a Hawaiian vacation would feel like at a great hotel. We figured why not stay in a really nice room since who knows if we'll ever come back to Hawaii. Do yourself a favor and do the same thing. Pay a little bit more and get the same type of room. You may say that you won't be in the room much and that the view will be wasted. It won't be. You'll spend whatever time you do have in the room enjoying the view. You can bring your meals back up to the room and sit at the table on either balcony enjoying the view. Don't go cheap.

Yelp
I was so pleased with this hotel. We booked through Costcotravel.com and had no issues what so ever. Hotel was clean, great location, great staff, tons of amenities. Hotel only had valet for parking. Valet were always great and quick to receive car. Sometimes we had to wait to get our car valet but it was only certain times. Frank during check in was amazing; even called our room to check on us and made sure our luggage made its way to our room. We celebrated our anniversary so they gifted us complimentary Hawaiian cookies. In room we were gifted more things, bag and water bottles. I love that the hotel had water bottle fillers around hotel. Room was amazing. They had events certain nights. Restaurant on hotel grounds was good with great entertainment each night. I wish they had more of a beach area but Will definitely be back

Yelp
I highly recommend staying at the Outrigger. Every staff member is so helpful and kind! Shoutout to the concierge Rick who really goes above and beyond for guests! Anytime we had a question Rick would have no problem assisting us and he is so friendly and welcoming ! Rick noticed it was my birthday and upgraded my room to a corner room and gave me a box of cookies! The hotel is walking distance from the beach, restaurants, stores, etc. It is a great location. Only one restaurant was available at the time of my stay as the other was under construction, the restaurant had great food and live music every night. The rooms were spacious and nice! The beds felt like you were sleeping on a cloud! 10/10 recommend & would definitely come back!

Yelp
This is a classy place. It's right on the beach and is absolutely gorgeous. The vibe is all aloha. Its a high scale hotel with all the amenities you need or want with direct access to the beach. To me, it feels like home should feel. Artful, elegant, relaxed. I love it here. You will too.

Yelp
This place is super nice and great location. Love the patio bar. Always nice to just relax and enjoy a cocktail. I just wanted to thank Reemer for his outstanding service at the bell desk . He truly went above and beyond to help us out and we are forever grateful to him.

Yelp
If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful, quiet escape, this is not the place that you are looking for. This hotel is very noisy! The large hotel on the east side of the property has a very noisy machine, probably air conditioning, that runs constantly 24/7. This makes lounging by the pool much less than ideal. The Outrigger rooms have nice big double wide sliding doors, but that machine is too loud to enjoy any peace, quiet or tropical breezes. I was on the fifth floor and for people down by the pool to talk on their phones they had to speak loudly because of the noise. Also, the outrigger does have nice live Hawaiian music, but it resonates between the two hotels, adding to the noise level. There was no microwave ovens in my room not even courtesy bottled water. I have been to Hawaii many times, but I won't be returning to Waikiki. It is just another tourist trap with big city traffic and noises. The Aloha spirit seems artificial.

Yelp
First time staying here and I absolutely love this hotel. Room is so beautiful and functional. The bed is the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on. I took a walk through the lobby and the views are breathtaking. Every employee took the time to greet me when I passed them. This weekend was the busiest I've ever seen waikiki but you'd never know it because the lobby is so relaxed and not crowded like other hotels. Will definitely return again

Yelp
We absolutely loved it here. We stayed four days at Aulani The Disney Resort & Spa and four days here. My husband, myself and our kids all said they preferred the Outrigger Reef. So that alone is saying a lot. The Outrigger Reef is a very laidback kind of chill with elegance and sophistication. They give you a very comfortable wristband that unlocks your door, unlike Aulani who gives you a card to have to carry around. They offer many complimentary activities, the kids and I made Leis that were absolutely gorgeous. Over 60 orchids on each one. Cherwyn was so much fun to work with. The Leis were better than any of the ones sold in the local stores. They felt very luxurious. They learned the hula, the ukulele, how to paddle board, and the culture of the Hawaiian people. We stayed in a One Bedroom Suite, it gives you the benefit of an upgraded bathroom that is Jack and Jill style with access from both sides. You receive a canvas tote bag that I now can't live without, a cool water bottle with the Outrigger logo, TIP.....( there's a ice and water machine on the floor) unlike Aulani where you have an ice machine but no water on the floor. We started using it ASAP. The best feature of staying in a Suite is it includes the Voyager 47 club. Wow This club overlooks the beach giving you spectacular views while enjoying a scrumptious complimentary daily breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30. It's a different breakfast everyday with a few opinions like freshly made eggs, omelettes waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal and of course all the coffee ,tea and juice you would like. From 4:30 to 6:30 they serve a generous portion of snacks and a new complimentary drink of the evening. The snack's range from coconut shrimp, fish tacos, potstickers, pork buns, corn dogs and always cheese and crackers and a side of fresh fruit. We had the perfect sunset every night. Pure perfection. While finishing our snacks ( light dinner) you could just walk out the side door and sit on the soft white sandy beach as the sun melts into the sea. The food was hot and fresh. The staff was friendly and genuinely sweet. Shyla and Karissa are two of the most special people you'll meet. They are now like my ohana (family) and I can't wait to see them again. The bed was very large, the mattress was a dream. The best I've ever slept on. The pillows, like big fluffy clouds. I would love to sneak one into my luggage if I wasn't already so overpacked, Lol. (Better the Aulani) The lobby was welcoming with beautiful art and decor. They have a gift shop and an art gallery on site. The valet here was really on point. They had quick service with a smile, These guys were hard working and true gentleman. John and his team lead us to some breathtaking spots only the locals frequent. These guys will amaze you with their knowledge of the land. There was some constructing going on but I have to say they really do a good job to keep your eyes away from it and it was not too noisy. It did not in anyway take away from my experience but I know I received a really good price because of it. So I'd say it's a win. The only thing I will say in favor of Aulani The Disney Resort and Spa, they did have a photograph to capture the evening sunsets. I would love to see one phased in at some point here to build on the ever lasting memories. It was hard to get a good selfie sunset picture with the whole family but we did have fun trying. My girls made the perfect heart captured and I have to say, it's pretty epic. Maybe next time we can get that family shot. Hint Hint
