What a beautiful resort to stay at! My family and I stayed a week and it was wonderful. Each staff member we encountered was kind, helpful and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. From the valet, bell staff, front desk, housekeeping and everyone in between. It was clean, quiet and an overall extremely pleasant experience. I would absolutely stay here again

Beautiful resort on the beach. The ocean view room is very spacious and has an excellent view. You're centrally located within walking distance to shopping and endless restaurants. The restaurants on the premises are excellent. Tons of lounge chairs for both sun saturation or full shade. The views of Diamond Head and the opal waters are second to none.

Such a beautiful resort. Located in Waikiki, it is the hub of all the action that takes place here. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Be sure to book an ocean front room, you will thank me later. The sound of the waves crashing will put you at ease after a long day of being a tourist. The staff here are all so friendly and accommodating. From the valet, front desk, housekeeping and servers at the restaurants. Though the hotel is older and at some spots show its age, it has been well maintained and I believe renovated. Limited two a few elevators it does goes busy, especially if you find yourself on a top floor. The pool is small but refreshing. Steps from the ocean. You can go between the two easily throughout your vacation. At around $400 a night before resort fees and parking, it is pricey but priceless. Stayed here multiple times over the span of two decades... so many memories here. Thank you Outrigger for everything. Can't wait to be back soon.

Google
The location was great we were right at the center of everything and beach front all in one. Would definitely stay here again with plenty of activities and shopping nearby. We stayed club level which was exceptional and our service through our stay was nothing short of fantastic the entire stay. We took surf lessons right out front that were phenomenal. The food and drinks were great and the amenities were everything you could ask for for a family friendly stay!

Google
Very comfortable setting and rooms are spacious. We had a partial view twin room and the views were divine. Being close to the centre of activity it can be a little noisy as the balcony door is not well insulated. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is spacious with a separate toilet to the vanity. There is no kettle but you can request one. There is a coffee maker that also has tea pods. Bathroom Amenities are sparse. Dukes is downstairs and a fabulous restaurant. There is direct access to the beach, which is incredible. Decor is a little dated and could use a refurbishment. Overall great location, lovely atmosphere but don't expect a 5 star resort for relaxation.

Located on the sand next to the Pink Hotel is the Outrigger Beach Resort. We have been coming here for 40 years and are never disappointed. The staff are great to work with with exceptional service provided by Troy (parking attendant), Mae (desk Supervisor), Sue (Housekeeping), and Preston (Manager). The location is the best with any activity you would want. The rooms are a little dated BUT they are scheduled for a major renovation during 2026. Of course, Duke's is downstairs as well as the Hula Grill and the hotel even provides daily activities for adults and kids. We always stay in the oceanfront lower level so that we can listen to the great music provided everyday and people watch folks on the sand. The view of Diamond Head is unsurpassed. We found that paying extra for Club 47 for access to the breakfast and early evening snacks (or even dinner if you will settle for pupus) is worth the extra expense.

Google
Very nice but busy hotel. Right on the ocean. Fiona was amazing! My only complaints were the price to park. The room towels could use some fabric softener as they were rough on sun kissed skin. You have to rent chairs for the beach. If you smoke you have to smoke in an area that is not at all accommodating or relaxing. The hotel is located near high end shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Overall I would stay again. Thanks

Google
We had the best time with our young kids (age 3 & 5). Wonderful location and sweet, helpful staff. The first room we had was weirdly set up with a bed as soon as you opened the door. We had to move rooms. Highly recommend the Club rooms - the added benefit was entirely worth it - breakfast was good and happy hour/drinks in the evening were so fun. You could see and hear live music from Dukes every night - lovely place and wonderful location, close to everything. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This hotel knows what the word ohana is. We were treated like family the minute we walked in and until we left. Alll staff from the front desk, to house keeping, to service were amazing and very well courteous to us for our honey moon. Our friends Mai and Cherly recommended it t our honey moon and were they right!!

Yelp
My stay at the Outrigger was extremely disappointing. I've stayed in multiple "4-star hotels" before and have had better experiences at the Best Western than this. First, I was given a room on the first floor. Which, I checked in late and had a very nice Kamaʻāina rate, so I understand that there were no other rooms available during the Outrigger canoe regatta. But, it just got worse. The mattress in room 134 was horrible. It was so uncomfortable and I was sinking into the middle. I think I felt one of the springs before I decided to just hug one of the sides of the bed instead and try not to slide into the middle. The sheets felt like paper. What was the thread count of those sheets- I'd love to know. The generator right outside my window was very loud, as was the air conditioning. At check out, I was charged $30 for "Valet." There was no availability of the valet on any of the three days I stayed at the property. I was told to park at the Waikiki parking garage 0.3 miles away- but when I went there, the garage was full. I went all the way up to the 10th floor with no parking spots. Then, I had to wait 43 minutes to EXIT the parking garage, and I was charged money for my "parking" by the garage - which the hotel was not able to reimburse me for. They said I need to park out their sister Outrigger property 0.6 miles away- where I had to walk with all my bags to the hotel. The LEAST they could do would be to validate my parking. Then when I was checking out, Auntie told me I needed to pay $30 for "Valet." I said, "I didn't use valet, I had to park at the garage." She said "Yes, that's valet. $30." Isn't valet where someone parks your car for you???? That was the last straw. I couldn't wait to get off of this property and I will NEVER be coming back. Housekeeping, maintenance, and the concierge were the only good things about this property. I live in Kailua and was so excited to book this nice staycation - I should've just stayed my ass at home instead. I won't be back.

Yelp
The best thing about the hotel is its location on the beach and Duke's!!! Highly recommend NOT purchasing a club level room for the benefit of Voyager 47 lounge. The food is not very good, very limited on drinks, and definitely not worth the upgrade price. They tried to charge me $85 to add one child. That would've been a complete waste of money, especially since they obviously cannot drink any alcohol. $85 for breakfast that I've had better at a Hampton Inn and hors d'oeuvres/appetizers in the evening that are basically frozen tempura shrimp that are heated up in a air fryer. The hotel way over values their club level! There are many more better options along the beach. The customer service is lacking as well at the front desk. We had major issues finding parking due to the festival that was going on the street and the street was closed in front of the hotel....It is not the hotel's fault but no communication of where to park Offsite and then wanting to charge us for it was ridiculous. They did comp the parking, but it was a bit of a battle to deal with them. The rooms themselves are pretty old and small. The hotel is definitely dated. But it has great choices of restaurants located on the hotel and the location to all the shops and restaurants very close by.

Yelp
About a week prior to my stay, I was emailed by the resort and asked if I wished for any upgrades. It said I would pay for upgrade if they could accommodate it and to inquire once checking in. When I inquired at check-in she did not know what I was referring to and said that everything was booked. I thought the email meant they would put some effort into it all week, but no. Staff was rude or obviously fake-nice, not at all sincere. The room we checked into was next to a neighbor building's A/C unit that had severe problems and made a constant shrieking noise. I have health issues already and to hear that shrieking for the next 7 nights was unreasonable. I requested to be moved and was told I would be moved up a few floors and on the other side of the building. This did not happen. We were majorly downgraded and went down 4 floors. The new room smelled extremely stale and totally unlike the first room we had. It smelled musty, stagnant, and almost a cigar-like. We had to open the balcony door to let it air out and eventually bought an air refresher spray, which helped. The only redeeming part was that the "partial view" of the ocean was huge and beautiful. The coffee was not replenished after the cleaning on the first day. I called to Guest Services at 7:30am and was told someone would bring some up. None came and I had to call again at 9:30a for a housekeeper to run some up. Also had to ask why our WiFI did not work and was given an access code word, that I had to log into everyday. We ate at Hula Grill and Duke's which were both nice. Great ocean-front seating at Hula Grill but it was busy so their service was slow. Dukes was fun but loud. They are open until midnight every day. So they play music all day and night until midnight EVERYDAY. Very annoying to have to hear it from the room every night in addition to the street entertainment that's loud until 10p. The pool was fine but a jacuzzi would be better. We rented some chairs with an umbrella on the beach, which was amazing, The Activities desk rep was super helpful & knowledgeable. We booked 4 activities (turtle snorkel, helicopter tour, Majestic island tour, and Pearl Harbor). The tours were the best part of the trip. While we really enjoyed our time away from the hotel, the front desk staff really made our trip salty. They weren't very friendly and didn't acknowledge that we stayed 8 days ($$). They were rude, did not explain anything about the resort, and had zero interest in making our experience rememberable. For us, this vacation is rare and it's a big deal. Please put in some effort to convince us that you care. Will definitely stay somewhere else in future.

Yelp
In the past, we've not been all that impressed with the hotel rooms on our stays at various hotels on Waikiki - but we've never stayed here before. We've been coming for about 20 years and we've stayed multiple times at the Royal Hawaiian, the Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani - and we've enjoyed the stays . . . but the rooms themselves are just not up to snuff. Poorly designed spaces, weird temperature controls, odd housekeeping, ancient funk in need of updating . . . there might be a great common area, but the (quite expensive!) rooms where we've stayed aren't as nice as a business hotel in flyover country. We've always kind of wondered about the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort (not a brand name we recognized, so we were hesitant to stay here) - we have been here for food and drinks since we started visiting the area, but only just now got around to biting the bullet and trying it out as a place to stay. Wow, are we glad that we did. Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort had none of the issues of the other hotels - it wasn't inexpensive (of course; look where it's located), but it hit the mark for us. Great and comfy space in our ocean-view balcony room - not fancy or updated, but not dated or creepy. Smashing housekeeping service (bell desk and front desk folks were great, too) with lightning-fast room cleanings and not a thing less than perfect ever. Great amenities Great location. The bed was a comfortably firm foundation BUT had a thick, soft pillowtopper that wasn't great for my back; also, the room could have used more bedding (a supplemental comforter) in this cooler season. No robes or slippers were provided. We're not talking about anything like a fancy place in Vegas with multiple marble bathrooms, but the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort gave us our best stay in all of our trips to Waikiki. (And I understand they're planning an update in 2025.) We plan to return.

Yelp
Room 209. This is what you get for partial ocean viewing from this hotel! All day & night you hear nothing but HVAC running. Most disappointing room we ever stayed at. We booked through Costco travel & they reached out to the hotel & hotel would not accommodate.

Rick N.

Yelp
Been here a week and agree with the overall 3.5. Great location and service. Lobby and grounds not as nice as other places. Family next door at the Royal Hawaiian has amazing lobby and grounds for more $$ yet my room is nicer than theirs at both old and new wing of RH. Odd pedestrian path to beach. Everywhere gets crowded. Pool too small. Same problem at RH.

Yelp
All of the reviews before me tell the truth. And if you're looking for a peaceful vacay, maybe think about the type of resort you'd want to stay in. I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but it's CROWDED. Maybe it was because I was here for Christmas, but man oh man. Lots of people on the beaches, in the restaurants, crowding the walkways... It's a lot. It feels like a lot. But waking up and sleeping to ocean sounds on the beach, that might be worth it. And the sunsets! If you're ready, get a room with the view. It will not disappoint! (But the food downstairs will )

Yelp
Nice hotel right on the beach, great service by staff, very safe building, but old and dated furniture and no microwave in the room. ABC store within the building is very convenient for incidentals, however, extremely pricey! Umbrella and two lounge chair rentals $100 per day, but free beach towels are available. Music from Dukes downstairs plays until midnight and it gives a very Vegas on the beach vibe. Location is great, within walking distance to the international marketplace, dining, shopping, and other beaches too.

Yelp
The good: location. Right on the beach and in the middle of it all. You have access to pretty much anything within walking distance. The beach was clean and beautiful. The not so good: place is dated. Very very dated. The elevators have a security feature built in so that rando's off the street can't get to the floors but this makes wait times for the elevators ridiculously insane and very annoying. Our room was on the street side and even though we were on the 8th floor we could hear music blaring all night every night. Not exactly what we were hoping for on our Hawaiian vacation. We opted to not dine in so I can't speak to that although the deli near the pool had fantastic fresh sandwiches. The gym on the 16th floor although small was equipped nicely. This is a very touristy spot. If you want a party scene then this might be for you. If you're looking for something more laid back then look elsewhere.

Yelp
DONT STAY HERE! Man oh man this place really messed up the whole trip. First off i spent close to 30k for 6 rooms and flights more than half was for the rooms basically. First off 3 out of the 6 rooms was leaking families clothes got wet and still the hotel did nothing not even move then to another room. We dealt with 6 days of leaking yet nothing. The manager was definitely not helpful very fake and tried everything she can to make it okay. We dealt with issue and then bam we go to our Valet car and they crashed it as well... Im definitely not going to let this go they wouldn't even compensate us anything back and even offer anything. Im going to make sure 100% this doesn't just get forgotten and i definitely would not recommend this hotel they cannot handle when its packed and dont understand what customer service means it's surprising honestly.

Yelp
There are no bad days at the Outrigger Waikiki. This hotel is probably the most comfortable and convenient place to stay in Waikiki. The service and vibes are the best! Shout out to Chrystalle at the Front Desk and Steve the GM. They are the best in the hospitality industry

Yelp
Excellent hotel voyager lounge for daily breakfast and happy hour! The setting is absolutely ideal on the deck right above the beach. You have a gorgeous view of sunrise over Diamond Head for breakfast. It was so relaxing to sit and watch the waves with a nice breeze through the palm trees. The daily selections were also superb. Lots of fresh pineapple and fruit, coffee, juice, toast and bagels, hot and cold cereal, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, waffles, and more. For happy hour, food selections varied with cheese and fruit, dumplings, salad, fried egg rolls, and a bunch of meat options I don't eat. The POG juice was also such a treat.

Yelp
AVOID THIS DISGUSTING AND RUDE HOTEL!!! :( My husband found an adult bed bug in our room on the 6th floor (room 616). The response from management was very unsatisfactory and employees did not meet standards of care for a 4 star hotel. We reported the suspected begbug at 8:30am and was promised a call or email from the general manager that day. We received no updates after watching our phones all day and had to go to the front desk again at around 7pm to follow-up on mitigation measures. There wasn't even an apology! :( The next day, the general manager was still not available and we were not given a time frame. Front desk employees were again unhelpful until we made a scene showing other guests the picture of the suspected bedbug we found on our bed. Front desk yelled for security loudly and finally get us a manager on duty. We find out from her that we were supposed to be given a case number and risk management's number previously. Why are employees not properly trained? From the initial discovery time to our checkout, we were told Ecolab had not come out to confirm the presence of bedbugs, leaving us in a constant state of distress. We were only given empty promises again. We demand this experience be made right. This ruined our supposedly relaxing vacation and honeymoon. This was my husband's first time in Hawaii and staying at this hotel was A HUGE MISTAKE. Please learn from our mistake!

Yelp
So I have to start out by saying that we are back in Hawaii as of this week, this time. We came in September versus coming in October, and we are currently staying at another resort. Unlike the past 2 years, where we have stayed at the Outrigger, and we went to Duke's tonight for our 20th wedding anniversary. And we had reservations, the food was very good. David, the waiter was excellent, but I have to say. The Outrigger hotel has changed tremendously. Over the last year, it has brought in people off the beach that are sitting in the lounge area of the lobby of Dukes in thongs. And bikini tops hanging out, and there are numerous women that should not be wearing that kind of bathing suits in an establishment that is set for dinner. We sat across in the lobby, waiting for our table from a couple, that had barely any clothes on, and it was quite a turn-off. I think that over the past year, since we've been here, the Outrigger has become a party type hotel. We sat at our table and the music was so loud, We couldn't even hear each other talking. I think the Outrigger has a lot of work to do. They still have that 6 / 6 foot pool, that is very tiny. And I think that they need to get some type of security. There's a lot of people coming off the beach that aren't even staying at the Outrigger that are way out of control way out of hand, and it's quite a turn-off. Not my idea of an ideal vacation. Wanting to relax and enjoy and have some peace and quiet, and that's why we have chosen to go somewhere else this year. If you're into loud music, dancing, constant partying, drinking, women wearing questionable clothes, and you don't want peace and quiet and you love the loud noise and you love the crowds and you love to drink, this is the place for you, but I will never ever come back to the Outrigger. Unfortunately, I will not come back to Dukes, in Waikiki. I will go to the Dukes in La Jolla, California. Where they we had a great time, it was beautiful. It was very peaceful, it was relaxing there. The Outrigger has no control, no security. They don't have any class. They just let anybody off the street into the hotel and to me, that is a major turn-off. Beware of this place as it is a party hotel with a pool the size of a kiddie pool.

Mimi-Raen L.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay, especially due to the Ocean Front room. Even though we live on the island, there is nothing like the view of the ocean with so many things happening at once....surfers, boaters, canoe riders, swimmers, sun bathers...all enjoying the beach...beautiful and fun! The Duke's restaurant and stores nearby, easy access to beach makes this a great place to stay. Check in should be roped off so people know who is in line (we had an excellent experience checking in with friendly staff member); check out on tv would be great so there would be no need to return to counter. Rooms are okay; it is aged (they should place nice Hawaiian Style bed spread to lighten, brighten the room). Elevator system takes getting used to. Great place to stay as it is centrally located. Parking via valet is great. We would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I am not sure how this property has more than two stars on any site. I was extremely disappointed when I arrived to see the hotel did not appear to have been updated since 1990, and looked very tired. None of the rooms have been updated nor the furniture. I spent the money for an oceanfront room and was irritated when I saw peeling wall paper, a bathroom ceiling in bad disrepair (damaged ceiling and peeling paint). When I went to the front desk to explain my frustrations, their only response was "I'm sorry to hear that". They didn't offer to move me to another room or ask me if they could make repairs to my room. All I got was a "sorry". When I asked to see another oceanfront room to move to, I walked in and there was an incredibly terrible smell. The first time I walked to the pool, I was led down a path on the side of the hotel that was lined with food deliveries for the day against the fence so clearly was next to the kitchen. Is this really what you want guests to see on vacation? The pool was the smallest I've seen for a hotel this size so yet another disappointment. Needless to say, I was beyond disappointed with this property and will not be back.

Yelp
I forgot to put in my previous review that the pool is very small and there's not enough chairs to sit on. We had to go every morning at eight to save ourselves some seats and even then it was full. And not enough umbrellas. The Internet is free but wait it doesn't work if you wanted to work it will cost you $40 a day if you wanted to work 25% of the time then it's free. I'm sorry for being so negative. I'm just trying to help you better your business for people to come here to spend your heart and money .

Yelp
We are mid-stay at the wonderful Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort. The location is perfect and the ocean views are breathtaking. From the first moment at the Valet station through check-in and beyond the personal service and attention to detail is un-matched. Dukes restaurant is an exciting place to eat with live entertainment. So much to see and do. The room was immaculately clean and inviting albeit somewhat dated. the balcony was awesome with amazing view of the ocean. Room is cleaned, beds are made and fresh towels provided every day... a lost art in most every resort hotel it seems these days. The entire staff here is focused on you and go out of their way to make sure you are completely satisfied, a testament to excellent management no doubt. The pool is small and seating around the pool can fill up quickly but there are lots of other areas immediately adjacent to the pool that actually offer some shade. You get a plastic card upon checking in which entitles you to 2 Beach towels. Return the towels at the end of the day and you get your card back to use again the next day. A wrist band in addition to a room key card gives you access to the elevators and room. The room does have a safe as well as a Keurig machine with coffee and tea provided. There is also a small refrigerator in the bathroom. The TV was a decent size. The Resort aims to retain its classic look and roots to Waikiki. We're not even halfway through our 8-day stay but already looking forward to a return visit!

Yelp
This place is a tossup....It is pricey and then they charge you $50 a person for resort fees, but don't know what that covers. If you have a car, you have to pay $50 a day to keep your vehicle there and valet only. They do have valet all day and night long, sometimes they are pretty quick. The hotel room was pretty clean. There is a tv, mini fridge, and depending on what room you get... We had 2 queen beds and a oull out couch. the pullout couch was wayyyy more comfortable than the beds. So I didn't get much sleep because they are very uncomfortable. Inside the hotel, they have a few little shops and restaurants. The restaurants dont have a big selection on teir menu. My mom HAD to have the Hula Pie at Dukes, but to me it just tasted like expensive vanilla ice cream. You can walk all the way through the hotel because it is open. There is a pool but I never saw anyone use it because the because is 5 steps away from the pool. If you need extra tp, or need a microwave, they have to send someone to bring it up.

Yelp
A wonderful hotel for a staycation or to recommend for visitors. I chose it cuz we were going to Blue Note and I knew the valet parking would be convenient although it's $45 a day with in/out privileges. I chose a club room which gave you access to a special elevator that takes you directly up to floors 14,15 & 16. You get afternoon pupus from 4:30-6:30 p.m. In the morning your complete breakfast is self service in the club lounge. I was surprised how many children are here. The hot water is instant for the tap and shower. The decor is simple with dark wood and photos of Waikiki-ish scenes. Thirsty white towels. Why not 5 stars? Maybe I'm too particular but I always look for a laundry bag in the closet for used clothes, nada. There is no safety bar in the shower and the toilet seat is very low. The beds are high if you're not at least 5 feet tall. The sheets were not soft but maybe they are new? We were on the 15 th floor and the railing has no safety for little kids. Drops straight down. But the partial ocean view upgrade for a kamaaina was well and gratefully appreciated. Condition of the room, lobby and definitely the Voyager Club Lounge is well maintained. Would I stay here again? In a heart beat.

Yelp
Stayed here this past week for the 4th of July regatta. We expected it to be crazy in Waikiki and at the hotel however we didn't expect that we'd be parking our own car blocks away. The valet situation was a mess. After waiting in line for about 25min to pull up to the valet, they gave us a map on where we'd need to take our car after we unloaded and park ourselves. Mind you, the cars ahead of us, the valet drivers took their cars to park. Next, after checking in we experienced the elevator chaos!! You swipe your card and press your floor and the screen tells you which elevator to take. The elevators were extremely slow and inside there aren't any buttons to press bc it's programmed to each floor after you make your selection. SO MANY unhappy people having to waiting 15plus mins, lots ended up taking the stairs. When spending so much to stay at this hotel, the last thing I want to do it have to park my own car and have to take the stairs. Don't think we'll be staying here again.

Yelp
Outrigger Waikiki is directly on the beach, which is great. The staff was friendly, but I didn't really feel the Aloha spirit--it felt more corporate than welcoming. The beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent, which felt like an extra cost I wasn't expecting. There are two on-site restaurants, both convenient but overpriced for what they offered. The buffet didn't have the best selection, and it didn't feel like the authentic Hawaiian experience I had hoped for. The property is located on the crowded end of the beach, between the Royal Hawaiian and the Moana Surfrider, so it can get busy. The pool was small, and there was only one, which added to the crowded feeling. If you're looking for lots of shopping, this is a great location, as it's right across the street from the International Marketplace and all the shops. However, if you're seeking a relaxing stay with true Aloha spirit, you might want to try something on the other end of the beach. We had booked a full ocean view but discovered at check-in that it wasn't a "front ocean view" as we expected, and we still had to look to the side to see the ocean, which was disappointing. The rooms were just okay, and we deliberately didn't book a partial ocean view, so this miscommunication was frustrating. My girls did enjoy the lei-making class, which was a fun activity. Overall, the location is great for those who want to be in the middle of the action, but the vibe didn't feel as warm or relaxing as I expected.

Yelp
Very over priced for what you get. Hotel is not up to par. It's very old, musty, and needs to be updated. Also, they aren't very helpful with charges that I encounter on my card that I was not responsible for. It's been two weeks and they have yet to get back to me after initial conversation. I would absolutely never stay at this place again.

Yelp
Aloha We love this hotel its been a few years since we heave been to hawaii and decided to take a beautiful vacation to the Outrigger Hotel we really enjoyed our stay, we had a ocean front room on the 2nd floor where we could hear the beautiful music coming from the Dukes Patio. Great music every night, our vacation time included Sunday so we could catch the Harry Kapono show what a party :) We had great service here our house keepers Brenda and Yu Ling were fabulous ladies they really expressed the ohana feeling with their fabulous service, every day these ladies were the best of the best Mahalo Brenda & Yu Ling :D We ate a Dukes loved that salad Bar :) Duke really give that feeliing of Ohana there even was a birthday party going on with a Tahitian Family everyone joined in at the bar what an experience and feeling we had. Yelp
3.75 stars rounded up. I stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki to be near the Blue Note, a music venue on their second level, where I was seeing a show. Small hotel room, even smaller bathroom, & overall the property is dated, but it was clean, comfortable, & decorated with island style (low key want to know where I can get the same hula girl lamp.) Love that there are two ABC Stores nearby; one on the hotel's lower level & one directly across the street. Convenient for buying snacks, SPF I never have room for in my luggage, & last-minute souvenirs. Swimming pool isn't very big but no matter when beach access is literally steps from their restaurants, Duke's & Hula Grill. Weird elevator configuration; swipe your room card & a display tells you which elevator to take (which is sometimes around the corner.) Thx for the complimentary water bottles & tote bags, Outrigger. Location is unbeatable but if neighboring hotels are updated, I'd prefer to instead stay there.

Yelp
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Outrigger. I wish the pool/beach were a big bigger and cozier. Also, there should be a little preference for seating at Duke's for hotel guests.

Yelp
Stayed at the Outrigger for a week and I can say I enjoyed my stay. We went to Dukes every morning and did the breakfast buffet which I recommend. We had our room cleaned daily which was nice. If you're going to head out for the day call and request a room cleaning. The beach is literally in your backyard - take advantage of it. There is a small gem in this hotel that has great food and can save you money. Pai's Deli serves sandwiches, salads, and smoothies. I tried the tuna, turkey, and chicken salad/avocado sandwiches. Recommended them all. It's safe this place doesn't miss so swing at anything that sounds good to you. Also get all the toppings that come with the sandwich - trust. My favorite item was the Super Energy Smoothie which I substituted the chocolate protein for vanilla protein. Felt like I got one everyday. Let's not forget about the service. The ladies that run this shop are all really nice! I think one of them owns it. I meant to ask, but you can definitely tell she takes pride in making the food/drinks. If you're staying at the Outrigger you should be here once a day for sure. The cons: Beds were full size in our room. Wish they were queen. To be clear my room was in a Costco package that I didn't book personally, so queens could have been an option but I feel like queens should be the standard. The elevators were a common gripe amongst guest. I didn't have a huge problem with it personally as it is a busy hotel and everyone needs to get to there rooms, so yes you have to wait a while at times. You do get a bracelet that doubles as your elevator and room key. It's a nice security feature that requires you to have a bracelet to be able to access any of the floors. I guess it's a little dated overall, but it's clean that's what's important to me. The tub does drain slow. To be fair I know these pipes are full of sand from all the beach goers. It's not a complaint of mine but I read a bunch of comments from others complaining about it. Not a big deal. With all that being said I'd definitely stay here again.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! I will outline all of the specifics below but between the faulty elevators, disorganized valet, and incessant noise; I would recommend staying at a different hotel (the only redeeming quality of the hotel is its location). First off, the elevator situation is like nothing I have ever experienced at any hotel (and I travel a lot for work so I'm fairly versed in decent hospitality). The elevators would take anywhere from 5-10 minutes to arrive at our floor and once they did, they were usually completely full. The situation is so outrageous, the housekeeping staff finally advised us on our second day to just take the stairs. Second, the valet situation is ridiculous. The hotel hosts the Blue Note music venue; however, upon getting back from a trip to the North Shore, we were informed that we had to sit in our car in the street for 30 minutes since they needed to empty the garage for music venue guests and we were unable to drop off our vehicle. The fact that, as a guest of the hotel, I am forced to sit in my car blocking traffic for 30 minutes when THEY CHARGE $60 PER DAY FOR THE VALET SERVICE is flat unacceptable. I told the manager about the experience and not only was there no action taken but there was no follow up either. Finally, the rooms are very noisy from the street below. The sliding glass doors to the balcony do not do a sufficient job in blocking out street noise and you can hear EVERYTHING even with the doors closed and shades drawn. It made it very difficult to sleep and/or relax in the room.

Yelp
We got the Club Level Diamond Head View room and it was great! Fantastic view and 3 balconies with seating. Breakfast and cocktails/snacks in the lounge were nice - nothing fancy but plenty of seating out in the balcony with great beach view. Our only complaint was that check-in is at 3 pm -we got there at 2:15 and expected somewhat of a wait, but our room still wasn't ready at 3:30. Luckily they were able to give us another room that was ready - same room, altho on a lower level than the one we originally reserved. Still a very nice room with a sitting room and two full bathrooms. All the staff we interacted with were super nice and helpful. One day we rented two lounge chairs and a beach umbrella and spent the day on the beach - very nice!

Yelp
What a memorable stay! From start to end. Upon our own early arrival our room wasn't available yet.. Mae saw that I was traveling with two young children that were beginning to get restless and continued to check on me, and even gave both my children each a box of cookies. Our room was ready as promised at regular check in time.. a beautiful ocean front room. Although I've been to Waikiki several times before this was my first time being the one doing the actual planning. So before I booked I did my research on where to stay.. I won't lie, there is live music downstairs at Duke's that plays at night... but we absolutely loved it!!! And as I looked out from my balcony I noticed how dead the rest of the hotels were lol. That's when I started writing my review.. My kids insisted on leaving the balcony door cracked to hear the music as they slept after dinner. And I took note- the music stopped at 9:36. If you are boring and don't love life, then don't book here. And also, yes the pool is not ginormous but who books a hotel in Hawaii for the pool??? This hotel literally SITS on the beach! It's close to everything and the staff is great. I'm so happy I booked here. My only actual "complaint" is I hate their elevator system lol it's just random. And room service menu is minimal but that's not really a problem when you're in such a central location. Mahalo for a great visit!!! We will be back..

Yelp
Made a reservation about 4 months in advance for an Oceanfront Club Room with 2 Double Beds. Leading up to the stay, I went on chat and made phone calls and confirmed that the Club Room is guaranteed at floor 7 or above. The height was important because I booked a room specifically to watch the Nagaoka Fireworks. I chose Outrigger because I felt they were positioned front and center. Easy valet upon arrival and bags were taken to bell desk. At check-in, I found it awkward to be seated. I almost stayed standing just because it's the first time I've seen a set up where you are seated while checking in. Like I was seeing my banking representative. Because I arrived very early because Kalakaua was being closed at 1pm for the parade, my room was not ready, but I was given towel cards to enjoy the resort while waiting for room. Proceeded to the pool area and got a few lounge chairs by the pool. There was one bartender walking around taking orders. Live music was played the entire time, minus a break or two. 3pm came and I still did not receive a text, so I went to the front desk. I was told my room just became available and I would have gotten a text shortly. I was given room 328, on the 3rd floor. I asked to speak to a supervisor. Jose ended up working with me from then on. Initially, I was told there was nothing and to go to 328 to see if it would do. Went up, and saw "trees" blocking the view. I mean so much for paying the highest rate and having that view... I got back down and continued to explain all the preparation I did prior to. Even cancelling my Penthouse Reservation at Hyatt. After reviewing availability, I was given keys to a partial ocean view, went up, and that didn't do. I made my final trip back and I was told to wait as they tried their best to accommodate me. I went off to the side and was initially writing a 1 star review, but then Jose came to me and said they have the perfect room for me. They put me up in the same room category on the 15th floor, room 1528. See photos. All was well with the room and view. Very spacious corner unit. City views, ocean views, and peek-a-boo Diamond Head view. There is a lounger on the side lanai, two rocking chairs on the oceanfront lanai. I was extremely happy they were able to accommodate me and I thanked Jose so much for his efforts. Upon resuming pool time, a woman and I shared our customer service stories and figured I share her story as well, because it is worth noting the strides they take to please their customers. Long story short, she thought she booked this Outrigger for her 40th anniversary, her reservation ended up being at Outrigger Beachcomber. She thought the hotel she booked was on the beach. Knowing it was her own fault, she made no complaints about it. Halfway through her stay, an off duty Manager at the Outrigger started chatting with her in passing. Somewhere down the line she told her story and laughed that it was entirely her mistake. The Manager took her info and said, "I will see what I could do, no promises, but I'll let you know tomorrow." She thought nothing of it thinking in the end nothing will happen. but she got a call from a very ecstatic manager the next morning! She was instructed to go to the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort for the remainder of their stay! Just thought I'd share that as well. It was great to hear a happy story from another hotel guest regarding the customer service experience.

Yelp
Our Family of 6 & I planned our bucket list dream trip to Hawaii this summer. We chose the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort because of its reviews & location. Unfortunately, what we experienced was FAR from what was advertised & you should be very aware before booking this property: The hotel is worn, dirty & old. The elevators take FOREVER & many times, do no work appropriately- for example, you mark the floor you would like to go to & the elevator skips the floor. The only way to reroute is to exit the elevator and try again. So much time wasted on the elevators! We requested connecting rooms to be with our kids, but that was not honored. The rooms were dirty, the bathroom plumbing was poor and the tub would take all night to drain. The "Partial Ocean View" was more of buildings and air conditioners than any water at all. And the balcony door would not lock. We "splurged" for our special vacation & booked a "Club Room" with V47 Lounge access. What a mistake that was! The food was terrible- you can see pictures below. The hefty resort fee is supposed to include beach chairs- well, good luck if you were able to get one. We never even tried because we just didn't want to be on property- but we heard many guests complaining that they were up and in line at 8am and still couldn't get a beach chair. Management was not accommodating. They did waive the resort fees and the V47 Lounge fees. But in all honesty, that was not enough to compensate for the huge disappointment and terrible experience at this property on our first visit to Waikiki. The reviews online are wonderful and the videos are breathtaking. It is obvious that those are all paid marketing ploys. This is NOT the place to spend your hard earned money for vacation. Do not waste your time here.

Yelp
The only reason I am giving a bad review it because after our trip we got home to find a charge for $175.00. We are not sure what the charge is for because we never ordered anything to our room. So i thought i would call. However, you can only get through to reservations. No one will pick up the phone for anything else. Its horrible. I have waited on hold once for 3 hours and 17 min and the next time 2 hours and 14 min. I am hold again with them and its been 1 hour 10 min. When we checked out we had a zero balance. So, i am just saying i hope you dont have to get ahold of the hotel for any other reason after you leave. Jen

Yelp
Great location. Rooms need renovations badly. Expensive for rooms that have been the same tired scheme for 20 years. The bathrooms are getting on the gross side. Staying here now amid construction downstairs and hotel next door. Asked if we will be getting compensation for the noise, we were laughed at.

Yelp
Very underwhelmed by my experience here. For thousands of dollars for our stay, you would think the amenities and service would be better. From having to wait hours to check into our room to being denied a late checkout (unless we paid extra), I was not impressed with the service. The room was average, not exceptionally clean, no minibar. Some days we didn't get housekeeping service because they didn't show up until 3pm. Other days we had to rush out of our room because they arrived at 9am. The resort is what you would expect in Waikiki- extremely overpriced, packed with people, loud. We would pay a couple hundred dollars extra to go elsewhere and have a better experience.

Yelp
So if your not white don't expect to save a pool seat was there at 8 am when they open the pool door grab two Seats just left for about. 10 mins to grab food im black lady this unacceptable just i address this no one didnt do anything about it everyone didnt care went to grab sandwich from abc store told my husband let cancel move to the other house which we went to the four season this place is a joke plus there were people didn't even. belong to the hotel saving seats this outrageous this place need to be shut down rooms are old smelly with bugs

Yelp
We booked an oceanfront room for 5 nights. Worth the money just for the view! Caution though, we had room 927 and though the ocean view was great these rooms are right over the pool and live entertainment patio deck so from 4pm on you'll hear band music playing so leaving the glass sliding doors open are going to be at your preference for noise level. They do block out some of the noise though. Housekeeping was very nice, you do have to leave the little postcard they leave in the room on the bed if you want new sheets otherwise they will remake the bed daily. The bathroom was my only real complaint. Very dated and the mini fridge is located IN the bathroom....kinda odd. The hotel also has activities, I did the lei making. Very nice instructor! As others have mentioned the elevator situation can be a hinderance. I found leaving the room before 8am made the wait for elevators non existent. But coming back in the evening it was a bit of a wait for the elevator. I can see this system being chaotic during the busy months. You have to scan your room key then select a floor number and it'll assign you elevator A B or C. You wait for your assigned elevator as there are no floor buttons once in the elevator. Overall I would stay here again. 2 restaurants and an ABC store very conveniently located in the lower lobby. If you arrive before check in time they can hold your luggage at the luggage desk in the lower lobby. Hotel staff was very kind and helpful, the check in desks are also staffed 24/7 so they can help you whenever you need. The building does need a refresh but love staying here :)

Yelp
No loyalty to their repeat customers. We have stayed over 30 nights (in 4 years) and they treated us like it was our first time. They claim it's because the 3rd party didn't honor our vacations. Actually, I was told "that's nothing to brag about, lots of customers have stayed with us over 30 times.". Sadly they've lost a very loyal customer. Hotel is nice, definitely needs some updating.

Yelp
Our one week stay at Outrigger Waikiki Resort was absolutely exceptional! Very convenient location. Kids loved it. From the moment we stepped in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The rooms were beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything we could possibly need.

Yelp
We loved the Outrigger in Waikiki, the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the elevators. It is literally a pain in the ass every time we needed to up or down from the rooms. Swipe your key it assigns an elevator and that's it you can grab any other one, and 90% of the time it was assigning every one the same elevator so most of the time it was too crowded to get on. Other than that the shops inside were great, Dukes of course was great food! The beach umbrella and chair rentals are very reasonable at $15 hr or $89 for the whole day. Beach towels are available free at the pool and drop them off at the bell service. Right across the street is the international market which have many many food choices and shopping!

Yelp
Our stay was amazing. I made what i thought was a mistake at first thinking I booked with Outrigger Reef Resort and that ended up being one of the best things to happen on this trip. Mikala was so pleasant & helpful. All the staff really showed the Aloha spirit by greeting us, making conversation asking us where we were from, and even said farewells with handshakes. This made us really look forward to returning and already planning our next trip back to the Outrigger. The beach was really nice and all the restaurant & cafe options on site made everything really accessible. Im sad to leave but so happy to know we have more friends to return to. Mahalo!

Yelp
Jose provided absolutely amazing service upon checking in for our 2 night stay. He was so friendly, making several great suggestions. Room as spacious, clean and comfortable. The phone didn't work which made it difficult to call down to the front desk when extra items were needed. Would definitely recommend and stay again

Yelp
I've never gone to Hawaii for a vacation or pleasure, only for business, which only was for a couple of days and this was 20 years ago! My wife had never been to Hawaii and I promised her that we would go for our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and we made it!!! I planned the entire vacation and I literally just pointed to a location on the map and said to myself, that's where we're staying, lol. As long as it had beach access, my wife is going to be happy! Happy wife means a happy life for me, and I must say I've been doing a good job for the past 25 years. The Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort was a great choice!! I reserved a King Bed with a partial ocean view. Our room was on the 14th floor and is was nice, clean, and comfortable. We loved the view from our room and completely satisfied. There's a TV, safe, iron and iron board, and a mini refrigerator in the room. No microwave, bummer!!! For the 2 of us, the room was roomy. The house keeper who attended to our room, Joann, is a superstar! Shout out to Joann who attended to our needs and made sure we had what we needed to make our stay comfortable. There are washers and dryers on the ground level of the resort and you'll walk by them on your way to the pool or beach. They have plenty of towels to give out so don't worry about packing towels. The one the thing that took me by surprise was paying the additional resort fees, which is $45 per night. Depending on how you reserve and pay for your stay, which I paid upfront, you'll be informed of these fees upon checking in. It's in the small print that nobody reads, lol. The resort staff as a whole was friendly and helpful. I had considered renting a car but glad I didn't. There's absolutely no where to park and the hotel has valet parking at $45 per day. Not worth it for us especially when everything you could ever want is within walking distance of the resort or it's right there at the resort! When we took our Sunset Cruise, we requested an Uber to and from where we had to meet, which was about a mile from the resort (about $8 one way). There are 2 restaurants in the resort, Duke's and the Hula Grill. We went to both restaurants on a couple of occasions and enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately we couldn't get into Duke's for Dinner because they are booked with reservations weeks in advance. So if you are planning to stay there and want to go to Duke's for dinner, call and make reservations. Both restaurants are open (no windows) and to the rear of the resort and you can see out to the beaches and ocean. There are gift and other shops in the resort. There's also a Spa and fitness center in the resort. I used them both. There's also a place called The Blue Note (place to enjoy a meal and live entertainment). We decided not to go to the Blue Note. We were not interested in seeing the person perform that was scheduled to perform at the Blue Note. Overall we had a great experience and if we ever make it back to Honolulu, you know where I'll be staying, yep, at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort...and I'll be well aware of the $45 per day resort fee!

Yelp
My first experience staying at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort during my recent visit to Honolulu. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the hotel, service, accommodations, and location in Waikiki! My recent stay unknowingly coincided with a holiday weekend and multiple conferences going on nearby, so majority of the big hotels were booked up and/or had very steep rates. As it turns out, I loved this resort and would highly recommend it to anyone. The other yelp reviews with cons reviews w.r.t. the elevator and noise, during my 4 day stay was not bad at all. If you are sensitive to noise which music does play into the late night (it is Waikiki and one of the most famous restaurants is located in the hotel), then simply request for a higher level floor that is not near on the Duke's side of the hotel. Rooms are not glamorous, but modest with nice wood furniture. Very clean and suitable for a hotel stay. Location is unbeatable since it's in the heart of Waikiki and on top of that, right on the beach front....lovely during day and evening. If you don't need a rental car, don't get one and just rely on Lyft or Uber. I always rely on Shared Car service when I travel and rarely have been disappointed. Lyft drivers easily know where to pick riders up at this hotel but NOTE: make sure your pick up address is the hotel address and NOT across the street 3rd floor at the Int'l Marketplace!!! For some odd reason, the Int'l Marketplace 3rd parking lot address is automatically populated when requesting a Lyft driver.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to coming here and thought it would be a nice relaxing trip for me and my husband. This is our first vacation in 5 years. We came here to also see Macy Gray at the BlueNote jazz club located in the hotel. The staff was nice at check in. The hotel was ok busy and loud. We booked an ocean front room. We were in the 11th floor. The room was very very small. We could not open all 3 of our suitcases because there was no floor space. We did have a jacuzzi tub in the room but it didn't work. We paid a lot extra for the view and tub. We were here 5 nights in June into July and it was over $3000. We were looking forward to sleeping in, coffee and breakfast on the balcony with the stunning views and sleeping with the door open to take in the sounds of the ocean. Unfortunately there is NOT A MOMENT PEACE in the hotel especially in your room. They have local singers or wanna be singers starting first thing in the morning and going until after midnight. You hear this music which is like a karaoke bar everywhere you go. On the beach, in the restaurants, by the pool there is no escape! I watched both younger and older people leave the pool area move down the beach complaining of the level of music. There were families that said they couldn't talk to each other and left and I noticed no other hotel is doing this only this one. The music is outdated. It's loud. It goes from oldies to rock one night. We went down to have dinner and drinks and watch the sunset. It was so unenjoyable. The singer must've been 70 years old. He was terrible. I'm posting video with the noise down there in the room and on the balcony we had to stay up till after midnight if we wanted to open our doors to go to bed, it started first thing in the morning. We had coffee with the sound of a bar raging down below, it was horrible. The second major issue is they charge $50.00 resort fee a day! (parking not included) they can't tell you what the fee is for. They also charge $100 a day to rent an umbrella and 2 chairs on the beach. They make it look like it's part of the resort and their pictures but it's not you have to pay for that so you pay 600 and something a night to stay here and then you have to pay $100 a day if you want a chair with a umbrella. We counted every day there's over $5000 worth of umbrellas out there they block the main part of the beach so you can't lay on the beach out in front of your hotel unless you lay in the surf where you're going to get wet or behind the umbrellas where you can't see anything and everyone is walking. We will never ever ever stay here again. It was so disappointing because it was our one shot at a vacation.

Yelp
The best part of this hotel is the restaurant, Dukes. It smells old, the elevators feel like I'm on the haunted mansion at Disneyland, the rooms haven't been updated in 50 years, the two bedroom suit is two regular rooms at the end of the hallway that share a hallway door, the staff is in dire need of a course in customer service, the "gym" is older than the gym at the ymca and the pool towels are scratchy wash clothes. The rooms are only "done up" every other day and the beach/pool is a who's who of keep an eye on your belongings. To sum up this hotel in one word it would be "motel-6" except I doubt this place would leave the light on. Save your money and stay next door at the Moana which is gorgeous, if we were staying longer than two nights at this expensive motel, we'd move faster than cockroaches in a fire.

Yelp
The welcome was nice. The lobby was clean. The fresh cool water machines were convenient but the room was not clean and the tub was broken. The issues were reported.

Yelp
Valet service was terrible. We just arrived at the hotel and trying to drop off or 4 luggages 2 hand carry. Valet service rudely told us we cannot park there and said we are blocking his work. Well they did not have a place to drop our bags. No empathy. terrible customer services. What were we suppose to do. Valet service rude.
