Overthemoon Luxury Pool Villas

We stayed at Overthemoon Luxury Pool Villas this January and we were ‘over the moon’ with our stay. It truly is a beautiful location, situated high above with the most incredible views, especially at sunset. The property is spacious, tastefully decorated and immaculately clean and was the perfect place to relax at the end of our 3 weeks in Thailand. What we loved most was the privacy the blue villa provided, allowing us to completely unwind in what felt like the comfort of our home - some days we didn’t even leave the villa, as there was so many great food options that delivered directly to the property (menu’s provided by the owner of the villa). The owner PP was amazing too - she was on hand via WhatsApp to answer any questions we had, or to provide recommendations, and we also rented a moped from her, which made getting around the island easy (I would say a scooter is a must when visiting Koh Tao, it’s such a small island so places are all a short drive, but slightly longer walk - so this could become costly with taxis). The only potential drawbacks of the property that could bother someone, would be the steep walk up the steps to the villa, or the fact the sun doesn’t come round to the balcony until about midday. Both of these things did not bother us, as we were able to get our steps in and could go and explore the beautiful beaches of Koh Tao in the morning and come back to relax at the villa for the rest of the afternoon and witness the most incredible sunset from our very own view point! If you’re looking at the property and questioning whether it’s the place for you, go for it - you won’t be disappointed!

First of all, the hosts are smiling and generous. They had everything we needed. The villa is equipped down to the smallest detail, clean, stylishly decorated, and the highlight is the private pool with a breathtaking view of the sea - it is recommended to see the sunsets! We enjoyed the hospitality so much that it left us wanting more. It made our experience on the island one we will never forget.

Very nice villa, the sunset from the swimming pool is amazing, the location is near from the beach we hope to come back asap.

Disappointing Stay Despite the Promise of Luxury We stayed at OverTheMoon Luxury Villa hoping for a relaxing and indulgent experience, and while the villa has potential, it fell short in some important ways. Pros: The view from the property is absolutely stunning — definitely the highlight of our stay. The interiors are tastefully done and feel genuinely luxurious. There’s plenty of space to relax, and the private plunge pool is a nice touch for unwinding in privacy. Cons: Unfortunately, the experience was let down by some fundamental issues. There was a power cut during our stay, and shockingly, the property had no power backup. This meant we were without electricity and water for an entire day — a basic necessity you’d expect any property to be prepared for, especially one that calls itself “luxury.” In comparison to other places we stayed during our trip, the hospitality here felt quite superficial and transactional. We missed the warmth and genuine care that truly makes a stay memorable. Overall, the property looks great on the surface, but when it came to service and basic reliability, it was disappointing. Not what we expected for the price or the promise of “luxury.” One word of caution - property is located on a steep hill . So those who have problem hiking please note

Stayed here for 2 nights during our Thailand travels and trip to Koh Tao.||The Villa is located high up off the main road with steep step access to the villa itself. You will need bike or taxi to access local areas as quite isolated and a steep walk down to the main road. ||We had to wait for someone to come with the key on arrival despite advising our arrival time. We were advised to get a taxi from the pier to the Villa, cost of which would be reimbursed. This didn’t happen. It was only 300 baht so not a big issue, just the principle.||The villa itself was nice. Lovely large lounge:kitchen area, pool area and deck that got the sun all day.||There was no air con in the living area only a fan which meant this area was like a greenhouse and very uncomfortable. Air con in the bedroom. Bedding / pillowcases stained. ||The shower wasn’t very warm and not very good (more like a trickle than a shower) and the black mat under the shower was dirty. ||On departure we were advised that someone would meet us to assist with our cases and reimburse the 300 baht. No one came which meant my partner had to carry two large cases down the flights of steps himself in the heat.||Overall a nice few days in Koh Tao just spoilt by the service provided during our stay.

Don’t be fooled. The hill is a hike for sure. But absolutely worth it. The views are spectacular and it’s only about a 10 minute walk to the beach. We would walk up to the gold bar a few evenings to grab some amazing appetizers and drinks. The caretakers are wonderful and kind. The space is gorgeous and has tons of stuff to use for the kitchen. The pool is fantastic on a sunny afternoon. We got our laundry taken and done a couple of times as well. Super easy. Taxis are available if u have luggage or groceries and don’t want to hike up the hill with them. Cost us 300 baht each time.

The location of the villa is perfect – secluded enough to offer privacy and tranquility, yet close enough to enjoy the vibrant local attractions and beaches. Every morning, we woke up to stunning sunrises and ended our days with peaceful evenings by the pool. Overall, our time was truly unforgettable. We highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a luxurious and serene getaway. We can’t wait to return!
