Ovolo The Valley (Brisbane, Queensland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The valley in question is Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, one of the city’s hippest and liveliest districts. Ovolo The Valley brings the brand’s youthful and fashionable luxury-boutique vision to a handsome modern mid-rise building right at the heart of the neighborhood. Inside you’ll find a heady mix of crisp clean lines, Art Deco romance, subtle but substantial luxury, and a touch of street style. You’ll also find welcome extras like a rooftop swimming pool, as well as a cocktail bar that serves mezze and other Middle Eastern bites alongside a selection of artisanal cocktails." - Tablet Hotels

So many things wrong from the moment we arrived. Poor reception team. Bar staff were useless. Sent up the worst espresso martini’s I’ve ever seen. When questioned, the response was “they’re supposed to be like that”. Rooftop had no loungers (we booked specifically to lounge around the pool) - all of the images of used to promote the pool clearly had loungers. When we bought this to their attention, they said they would source some. Never heard back from them. No where to have an important Zoom meeting upon early check in. Phoned reception five times without answer in the middle of the day. Dirty bed sheets and bathroom. I could go on and on … Very unaccomodating overall. I did make a complaint through their internal procedure hoping to avoid leaving a one star review but never heard back (it’s been over three weeks)

Stayed at Ovolo Brisbane the Valley and overall had a great experience. The hotel itself is stylish and well-located, making it easy to explore the area. The room was a little on the small side, but still comfortable and functional. One downside was housekeeping. The room wasn’t serviced until around 3–4pm the following day, which felt quite late. On the plus side, complimentary bottled water was a nice touch and much appreciated. The biggest surprise was the parking fee: $60 per day for valet or onsite parking. That’s steep sometimes more than the cost of flights or even car hire and fuel! If you’re driving, I’d recommend looking for nearby parking alternatives to save some serious cash. All in all, not too bad worth considering if you’re after a boutique stay in a vibrant location.

I will write the facts about our stay at The Ovolo for our wedding. I stayed for two nights, the first with my mother and the second with my new husband. On the second day, I also got ready with my mother and sisters, and my bridesmaids came by for photos later. - We signed up for valet parking. We waited 5 minutes in the drive before going inside to find someone to take the car. I parked the car in the open-air parking outside the shops before anyone could move it. - Mum and I received a bottle of prosecco on ice on arrival. I called and asked if this could be collected and re-set for the next night when I'd be there with my new husband. I was promised a second bottle and a full turndown of the room in the afternoon after we left for the wedding. - When we were getting ready on day 2, we asked for water that we never got. - When my new husband and I arrived to our room for our wedding night, it had not been serviced at all. The bins were full, breakfast dishes from room-service were still there, the bed hadn't been made. We waited approx. 20 minutes for someone from reception to bring us towels. He also brought us a bottle of red wine as no new bottle awaited us on arrival, as had been promised. - When I spoke to reception about these issues on our wedding night, we were told the room would be comped for the night. - The next morning, we were offered free valet parking instead. When I emphasised how disappointed we were, they also offered us 50% off our second night, as well as all incidentals free. - 2 weeks later, I had to call The Ovolo because they had not charged me correctly and were still withholding funds, which were not released until 2.5 weeks after my stay. We selected The Ovolo due to its beauty and good reputation. Given it was the most important night of our lives, we decided to splurge. After our stay, I felt undervalued and embarrassed that I had to call a hotel of this calibre out on repeated issues. While I loved the aesthetic and features of our room, I do not recommend staying at this hotel for a special occasion due to poor service.

I recently stayed at Ovolo - after changing locations from another local hotel and, while the location is genuinely excellent, I was disappointed by several aspects of my experience. The bed appeared to be quite old, with a new topper placed over it, which unfortunately didn’t improve the comfort as much as I’d hoped. More concerning was the air conditioning. Despite staff already being aware that it wasn’t functioning, I wasn’t informed at check-in. My first night was extremely uncomfortable as a result, and only after raising the issue myself was I told they knew about the problem beforehand. I also attempted to contact the front desk early one morning—given it’s advertised as 24-hour reception—in order to organise valet to bring my car up. The phone rang out repeatedly with no answer. Lastly, I was assured that a senior staff member would reach out to me as the General Manager was on leave. I’m still waiting for that follow-up call or email. Overall, it’s a convenient location, but the service and communication fell well short of expectations. As mentioned to the front desk - I travel for work, in excess of 90 days per annum both domestically and abroad - this was well below par, I hope you have better luck than me if you decide to roll the dice!

The hotel is very charming, the definition of a boutique hotel. Everything is designed in a very alternative way, but still very pretty. The room was very spacious, had usb outlets in the wall, a very big bathroom and even Alexa inside. WiFi was working very well. We had breakfast included due to Hilton Honors membership, which meant we could choose one dish and one drink. In my opinion not enough but it was tasty and great quality. They should just maybe offer more than one dish to order. |The location is not bad, with a uber you can be in the city in 10 mins and there are e-scooters everywhere. |All the staff members who we talked to were extremely friendly and helpful. |Would definitely come back!

This place is absolutely awful. It’s located in a sketchy area surrounded by shady people and drug addicts once it gets dark. The rooms themselves are fine, and I’ll give credit where it’s due..the food is actually pretty good. But the staff? Completely unacceptable. The bartenders don’t even bother to measure alcohol; they just pour whatever they feel like. They spend most of their time yelling at each other across the bar like it’s some kind of circus. What’s worse is the way management treats the lower staff, it’s genuinely disgusting. I overheard multiple arguments where managers were threatening to fire employees over the smallest mistakes, like giving someone the wrong drink or simply standing up for themselves when being spoken to disrespectfully. The whole environment feels toxic and unprofessional. It’s clear the people running this place have no idea how to treat their staff or their customers. Disgusting staff!! Especially that lady who tries to boss everyone around when she herself doesn’t even have a clue what she’s doing!!!!

This was a complicated experience. On arrival, we waited more than 15 minutes to check in, as the system was apparently restarting. We were then taken to a room that seemed to be unprepared for our arrival, as it was missing a few key amenities. The biggest issue was the lack of air conditioning, as the system was broken. After mentioning it for the second time, we were given another room. The front desk, upon assigning the room, told us that housekeeping had already taken our luggage to the next room, which was not true. After moving into the new room, it was a big improvement. This room actually had a hair dryer. However, the pool and gym are closed at the time of writing, and the construction work is quite loud in the morning. Once the room was sorted, it was quite nice. However, service was hit or miss, with some being very helpful and wonderfully kind, and others showing some inexperience or general confusion. The location is very good if you enjoy the valley, but if you want to see aspects of the CBD, it's a bit of a walk.

Yelp
Very stylish hotel, but what I want to comment on is how kind the front desk staff was in letting me drop off luggage in the morning hours before check-in. It was nice to explore Brisbane knowing I wasn't lugging around four bags.

Yelp
They are quite expensive but amazing super fancy rooms with doorbell and do not disturb system, we got a free Alexa and more! Lights in the room are cool but buggy and the breakfast is delicious! Oh also they have a 24/7 sweet bar so that's a nice touch! P.s FREE MINI BAR!!!

Yelp
Fantastic small "boutique" hotel we were fortunate to stay at while in Brisbane Australia. Located near downtown admits a collection of shops and restaurants in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms were very nice, clean and well decorated. A free mini-bar comes with the room along with excellent Wi-Fi and other amenities all at a reasonable pricE. Will definitely come back to when we return to Brisbane.
