Own Montevideo (Montevideo, Uruguay) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Most travelers to Montevideo are on their way somewhere else, to the classic Uruguayan resort of Punta del Este, maybe, or the trendy beach enclaves around José Ignacio. But the historic port city is worth a visit on its own. Across the wide expanse of the Rio de la Plata from Buenos Aires, it’s the other birthplace of tango, a quiet bastion of elegant architecture with a clamoring seafood market and an appealing seafront promenade. A few good hotels have popped up around town, giving you an extra reason to make a night of it in the southernmost capital in the Americas. Own Montevideo is one of these." - Tablet Hotels

I had an absolutely amazing experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive to every detail. The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with a super comfortable bed and all the amenities I needed. The location is perfect — close to everything, yet peaceful and quiet at night. The breakfast buffet was ok. I also really appreciated the fast Wi-Fi, great room service, and relaxing atmosphere throughout the entire property. Everything exceeded my expectations. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-quality hotel experience.

This hotel was amazing and is in the most fantastic location! It is perfectly situated between the city and the beach and very close to a fabulous shopping centre. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. Very good facilities and very friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. Also offers extremely good value for money and a great breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Wehighly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again when we next visit Montevideo.

Stayed 3 nights, arrived late evening Gent on reception was friendly checking us. Room was good but faced a wall with another hotel room at a 90° angle so curtains closed all time. In a good location near beach and big shopping centre. Breakfast was difficult it's served in a very narrow room 2m or so and everyone is having to move around everyone else and the small tables, breakfast staff don't seem happy. Despite the nice guy who checked us in every time we entered or left the hotel reception staff didn't speak or make eye contact. Then the building work which started early morning. Nice plunge pool and terrace area. Just a bit disappointed was expecting more.

We stayed for two nights, one of which we ate in the hotel. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. Our room was substantial , almost a small apartment, with a great view of the quaint neighbourhood. This will be our first choice when travelling back to Montevideo

Great value for money. Excellent stay. The hotel stands out for its quality, comfort and cleanliness, surpassing other local hotels in the same price range. The staff are very polite, accommodating and courteous. The rooms are generously sized, perfectly clean, and well-equipped. Guests can enjoy a minibar, along with complimentary coffee and tea. The beds provide excellent comfort, and the air conditioning functions flawlessly. I will return.

The hotel itself, is small and tucked away on a residential street but only minutes away from the promenade, and from nice restaurants and wine bars.|The staff were all very helpful and breakfast was fresh and more than adequate, taken in the adjoined cafe.|The only reason for the 4 rather than 5 stars is out of the hotel's control. During our stay there was VERY noisy building works on the plot adjacent to the hotel. This will pass within a few weeks (we were there mid-February) and so wouldn't be an issue, but did take the edge off our stay, with them starting at 7am and finishing at 6pm - unfortunate for the hotel itself.

I find this place overrated. I am not happy with the cleaniless nor with the breakfast. The curtains in my roon were full of mold (see the picture). The location is good but I wouldn't go back.

I stayed 3 nights in the so called double standard room. My room was on the 6th floor overlooking the street. I enjoyed my stay at Own Montevideo. The room had a nice modern setup with a plenty of storage space, switches/power outlets in all the right places, many lighting fixtures. I could open windows and get a fresh air. The A/C worked fine. Wi-Fi was fine as well. ||The bathroom was of a decent size, with the separation between the sink and the toilet/shower. There was a window next to the bathroom sink, with a plenty of light coming in.||Everything was in decent shape and looked clean. I found the small shelf was missing in the shower but it didn’t bother me much.||Noise level was average. Nothing super loud that bothered me. ||The breakfast was adequate, with friendly personnel. One thing to know is that you have to specifically ask for coffee/tea and it will be brought to you. Everyone from the staff was very friendly and helpful.||The hotel is conveniently located. I walked to Pocitos/Montevideo sign and back. Everything is a short Uber ride away, with a plenty of Uber cars available. Uber ride to Buquebus terminal for direct ferry to BA at the morning took around 15 minutes.||If you arrive at MVD airport without a lot of luggage, you can take DM1 bus at the front of the terminal (84 pesos as of November 2022), get off at the last stop and walk ahead for 2 minutes and you are right there at the hotel door. Very convenient. ||All in all, everything was good, as it seems like everything else in Montevideo. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and am giving it 5 stars review. I certainly recommend it.
