ROCHESTER CITY GUIDE

"The Ox and Stone is set in a beautiful mansion on Alexander Street. Elevated Spanish and Mexican cuisine make up the food menu with special attention given to traditional techniques, with fresh-made nixtamalized corn tortillas, for instance. The cocktail bar shines as a great complement to the cuisine and features a great selection of agave-based spirits."

Vibes were off the chart good. Service was good. They bring out the food as soon as it is ready. I wished the server had offered to pace the food out to us. We got all of our food sent out to us within 5 minutes. Which was alot. The food was good maybe 6.5/10, I don't think we would order these items again they were all "finger foods" and my hands were covered with oils and sauces. Atrocious spot for a first date!. But if that is what you are looking for it is definitely the right place for you. Drinks were good!

Not a bad place. The drinks were really good, but the food was meh in my opinion but my girlfriend enjoyed it. The food isn’t horrible I just can’t justify the prices for the flavors. They had a dj getting set up tonight (Saturday) so I’m sure it gets quite lively. The atmosphere was really loud so good for a group of friends, not the best for a date night in my opinion. All in all it was a good time just not the flavors for me.

Went yesterday for taco Tuesday did not disappoint. We are regulars here now at least once a month with a visit. Ty has been our server the last two or three times and she is lovely. We tried all the taco specials last night and each one was better than the one before, the margarita special comes to the table and the lime is lit on fire at your table. Tastes great with a show 😊

This place is fun! We went when it was “Camp Week” and everyone was dressed like it was summer in the 1980s and they were headed off to camp. Beyond this, the food was excellent. The flour tortilla nachos disappeared immediately. The taco trio was super yum. Get the Six Inch cocktail. It’s purple and dreamy.

I've now done both brunch and dinner here and I'm astounded. The food has been incredible both times, and the cocktails hold up just as well. Service is prompt and polite, if bordering on patronizing at times. For my family of four I barely spent more than I would have at a chain restaurant, and instead I got some of the best food in Rochester. Can't wait to return.

Came for drinks the night before, and then came for dinner (and more drinks) the next evening. I ordered the Paella (with extra mussels + shrimp instead of chicken and chorizo) and was very satisfied with my choice. The rice was seasoned perfectly, there was a nice portion of mussels + shrimp in the dish. Both times my drink of choice was a Mezcal Margarita, which is a Margarita made with tequilas smokier cousin, Mezcal. I would definitely recommend it. The service was very prompt and friendly and was always available. Food came out quickly for a busy evening and we didn't have to wait around for anything. Everyone else I was with only had nice things to say about their food. Third visit review: We came for brunch. We started with the quest fundido, which was amazing. It was a queso dip with beans in it and lot of other flavors. I ordered the chicken sandwich for myself. It was a huge portion and tasted very good, along with the potatoes it came with. My friend ordered the Tortilla Espanola, and while the portion size was good, the egg tortilla thing just did not taste like anything. It just had the flavor of unseasoned eggs with some potatoes in them. It was surprisingly bland. Everything else I had here is great but the tortilla espanola (basically an omellete) was bland and I would never order it again.

I'm so glad to see that this restaurant survived the pandemic. It's been 5 years since we found this wonderful restaurant and experienced such delicious food. The first time we came here we tried the crickets. This is definitely not something I thought I would ever try let alone eat but they were surprisingly good with a nutty flavor. This is also where I had my first foamed egg white topped on a Long Island Iced Tea. This is something I have never heard of or even had but I'm very glad I tried it because it is the absolute best way to have a long Island Iced Tea. I have been talking it up for the last 5 years every place I have eaten since and I haven't found any other restaurant to make it this way. That's how unique and good it is! Tonight my wife had a French Martini and I had the Long Island with the egg white foam on top. For the appetizers we had crispy chicken rinds hot honey, chives, and black sesame. The charcuterie is curated selection with flour city bread. Both very delicious. She has 3 cod fish tacos and I had the Thunderbird Sammy which is a crispy chicken thigh, piquillo spread, alabama ranch and pickles on a bun. This is one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. When I cut the sandwich in half it was so soft and easy to cut right through. Price wise I would say this restaurant is around $$ but worth the money. I definitely recommend this restaurant and everything in between.

Amazing drinks! Food was okay. I got the sizzling shrimp. Way too much oil. Could've seasoned it more felt like i was eating oil. And had the chicken enchiladas. It was okay also
