Ozark Cafe is not the best restaurant we ate at while we were in Jasper, but it certainly was pretty good. The vibes are fun, and I would say the food is above average. The waitress was not overly friendly, but also not rude. I was bummed that the biscuits and gravy were not what I was hoping for. The biscuits were slightly undercooked, and the gravy seemed like it came from a mix. But like I said, it was above average and there are a ton of options which is nice.

Very comfy environment full of locals. A nice lady was taking a break from her gardening and told us what was good on the menu. Staff very friendly and food was great!

Google
A must if you are touring the area. The food is good & the staff love chatting about & sharing the history. Country fried steak was incredibly tender, the homemade yeast rolls taste like grandma's, the fried mushrooms & okra!!! Yum yum yum

We stopped by Ozark Cafe after hiking. Of course it was burger time. 😁I ordered the French Fried Onion Burger that was a cheeseburger with two different cheeses and onion rings on top. It was delicious and juicy. It came with lettuce, tomato, and pickles. I added mustard and also got hand cut fries that were hot and crispy. I felt so happy. 😅 My husband, who had been there before got the Ozark Burger and hand cut fries which he said was good. We both had iced tea and our server kept them full which was great since we were thirsty after hiking. The restaurant is cute and old timey. We will definitely go back another time when we have room for ice cream! 🤗

Before I comment, you have to promise to keep this a secret. Jasper Arkansas is a treasure, in my opinion. Just 530 people who are easy to talk with and right on the Buffalo river. The Ozark Cafe is great; they even have peanut butter milkshakes....and anyone who knows milkshakes knows that those are the best. I can say that you need to be sure they give you forks and napkins for to-go orders. We got to our rental and found that we'd be eating with our hands and cleaning up with our shirt sleeves. Definitely just go and enjoy yourself. It's a great place, and you deserve greatness.

Google
Got the burger and fries after a 4 day trek on the Buffalo River trail. Really hit the spot. Quality meat cooked to perfection. For me 1/2 pound is a bit much so I shared with my son. The burgers are thick. The hand cut fries were also tasty. Service was friendly. Parking was a little tight, but worth a brief walk if needed. Plenty of seating inside. I would happily go back.

Google
I liked it! Good food and service. I had the special on Monday, salisbury steak, mash taters and gravy, and collard greens. Not Mama's collard green, though. Oh, and a great roll. Tea was awesome, too.

Google
Good food for a reasonable price. Came very fast and was delicious. Got the ozark burger with an egg (was runny, which is my favorite). Their mayo is so good. My husband got the mushroom and Swiss sandwich. Historic restaurant.

Yelp
Breakfast is really good. Pancakes are very big and good. Service was on top of coffee refills And very friendly. Small town feel and historical place.

Yelp
Whew they were super busy on a Monday lunch! Poor girls were running nonstop! Salad Bar had gumbo, which was actually really good for outside of south Louisiana. I had the Excaliburger, which is two grilled cheese sandwiches used as the bread for a burger. It was good, and you can request the meat less cooked than normal. Fries pork chop was good. Loved the peach and blackberry cobbler. Check out the pictures!
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the volcano cheese burger! Fried catfish was good, loved the side potato salad. Friendly staff, fun interior.

Yelp
What a fun place for a lunch stop! The waitstaff were friendly and the food was delicious. But, come HUNGRY... the portions are generous and delicious! Had to get a to go container so I would have room for a Chocolate Malt.

Yelp
Even here a few times, on this trip we came during peak season for tree colors and the place was packed at lunch time. Once we got a table we were quickly met by our server and started the process of ordering. I had the bacon cheeseburger and chips. The cheeseburger was excellent, seasoned well with great bacon. I also had the peach cobbler for dessert and it was very good, maybe a little dense but very good. We will always stop here while driving through.

Yelp
We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast while we were in Jasper for a couple of days. The food was great and so was the service both times. The double chicken fried steak was delicious and is served in a skillet

Yelp
We ate here twice during our stay in Jasper, and we got the cheeseburgers both times because they were the best we have ever had! The first night we were seated immediately, and our food came out pretty quickly. The second night we called it in and had to wait about 45 mins for our to go order but they were packed but my husband was offered free ice cream while waiting and was apologized to for the wait. The other places in town were closed so literally everyone was in there. We got our food, ended up stopping at a store for some things before going back to the cabin and seen the host run in after us and grab like 10 bags of chips, these guys were hustling. Also people were being so rude to the staff for having to wait for their food. Show some grace. Do yourself a favor and stop here They have awesome food.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Tried the southwest omelet, blueberry pancakes, bacon and hashbrowns. All so delicious. Will definitely be back to try the evening meal offerings!
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped here for ice cream and this place didn't disappoint. The staff was sooo friendly, kind, and excited to serve. We really enjoyed getting shakes for the grandkids and I had a hot Fudge Sundae. Too bad we had already eaten lunch because everything looked fabulous.

Michael T.

Yelp
This was an unexpected experience. We had an 8 day Arkansas trip that had an overnight stop very close. In a week- this is the only restaurant we ate at twice.... Outstanding both times.
google avatar

Keith B.

Yelp
Gem in Jasper. Good place to mix with locals and they enjoy visiting with you if you're in the mood. Food is stick to your ribs kind of comfort food.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday. We were greeted quickly and sat at a booth in the back. Our waitress is awesome and she's the only reason why I'm giving this place three stars. Otherwise, much lower. They had a full menu, which is quite extensive, however, it was a $14 buffet so we chose that. The ribs equaled the McRib. The Mac n cheese bland. The salad was good. Ranch dressing homemade and yummy. The corn, chicken, rolls, etc just ok. It is a buffet. And cheap.... the pot roast was my favorite! Quite tasty with great vegetables

Razorback F.

Yelp
Been here a couple times for breakfast. Average food and the it took 45 plus minutes both times to get food. Service was ok, but nothing special. Will not be back.

Clay W.

Yelp
Good food, service, atmosphere. There was nothing not to enjoy. Just be sure that if you order the volcano burger you better absolutely love cheese. Loved all the history that came with this spot as well. You truly have to experience it all to appreciate it!

Stacy S.

Yelp
We ate here twice 4 1/2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. We came back to the area and looked forward to coming back. We were disappointed to say the least. Service was spotty at best. I had the teriyaki chicken and it was clearly a frozen chicken breast that was overcooked. Teriyaki sauce was just put on after it was overcooked. The pineapple was okay. The baked potato was cold. On top of that it took forever. Apparently we should have complained as the people next to us had their food comped. Only good thing was the salad bar. We'd planned to eat there twice but we are rethinking that.
google avatar

Ron D.

Yelp
Was going from Russellville, AR north. Was a good place to stop, relax, have some food. Should have gotten into the car and taken off, think every law enforcement officer was at the table next to me. The ambiance was much better than the food, had a breakfast. Will stop again when close, much better than a Branson tourist trap
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place. Plate lunch of chicken fried steak and veggies was awesome. This place is history in one of the most beautiful places in Arkansas or anywhere else. Right off the Buffalo national river.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I were in Jasper March 15-17, 2024 enjoying all of the local hiking trails. We had heard about the Ozark Cafe and decide to give it a try. The inside is what you would expect for a small town local diner but the food was good with large portions. We both got the catfish plater and had leftovers to take back to the cabin with us. The thing about this restaurant that impressed me most was the employees! Everyone that we saw was constantly busy doing something! From the host/hostess, to the waitresses to the busboy! It really impressed me. We are from a bigger town and needless to say, the service is not always the best! We have plans to go back in the Fall and definitely go back!
google avatar

Yelp
We had a GIANT cheesy Burger, YUM! All served in a fun old time atmosphere, by kind, thoughtful servers & topped off with one DELICIOUS blackberry cobbler! A must try is their shakes or malts...
google avatar

Yelp
At the moment this is literally the only place in Jasper to eat out, but even if it wasn't I would still recommend it! Everyone who works here is wonderfully sweet and welcoming. The dining areas are full of charm and local history. There are photos of years gone by everywhere and a poem about the restaurant is written around the top of the main room. The "Liar's Table" is a long table in the main room that local old timers frequent. The food is terrific! The salad bar is fresh and a good way to get some greens that aren't fried. From the menu we got the Excaliburger, a burger with grilled cheese sandwiches instead of the bun and a giant knife holding it all together. It was huge and delicious with their crispy fries. On other visits we got the teriyaki chicken, Swiss and mushroom chicken, grilled ham and cheese sandwich, and fried catfish. From the dessert menu we got the blackberry cobbler, fried cheesecake, cookie skillet with ice cream, and the banana and chocolate shake. All were wonderful. Sunday brunch is a big deal. They have a buffet that you can get where you can choose from tons of delicious options. They also have an old-fashioned soda fountain where you can put together your choice of soda with flavors and ice cream. In conclusion, if you're in the area, eat here! You won't regret it one bit!

Yelp
We stayed near Jasper for a weekend away and ended up eating here 3 times. Some of our favorites were the southwest burger and fries, Southwest Omelet, French Toast, Biscuits and Gravy. The atmosphere is welcoming and our waitresses were all great! Good, fresh food, served quickly! Def recommend.

Adam F.

Yelp
Breakfast was great along with service. Came again for dinner and complete opposite. Worst waitress I have ever had anywhere and food was just ok.
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast and was not disappointed. Our server was very busy but did an excellent job taking care of us. The atmosphere was very casual. The menu is in the form of a newspaper, paper towels on a roll and a bucket of individually wrapped utensils all on the table. Food was good, coffee kept coming...

Daniella S.

Yelp
We ate here twice in the same weekend because it was so good! I had the Rueben with homestyle fries both which were spectacular!!! Some of the best homestyle fries ever. We also got tenders tossed in buffalo sauce and I really liked the taste and thickness of the sauce.
google avatar

Yelp
Jumping on the delicious tasty bandwagon here. Great food in here . The prices vs quantity AND quality is fantastic! If you want breakfast make sure you're there before it's shut off (1030? I think). Just a reminder, make sure to tip the staff. They are working HARD for you all, make sure you treat them right and tip them well. They don't need to put up with garbage. Delicious food in a historic environment. Go enjoy!
google avatar

Dee M.

Yelp
I regret ordering the chicken fried steak that was a breaded and fried burger. The burger wasn't even a good burger. If the menu had stated it would be a burger, not steak as advertised, I would not have ordered it. The fried okra and baked potato was cold. There was margarine, not butter for the potato. Extra star for being open on a Monday.
google avatar

Aimee H.

Yelp
Beautiful view!!!!!!!!!!! The food was delicious. I had the fried catfish plate. The green tomato relish was the best, they even sell it in their shop! Staff was welcoming and friendly!
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Great local spot. We stopped on for lunch after hiking all morning. We both got burgers that we enjoyed and they offer curly fries, battered fries, or hand cut. I got hand cut and they were delicious. Generous portions and great service.
google avatar

Daniel Z.

Yelp
This is the kind of breakfast you want on a cold morning before a long hike. The sausage and cheese omelet was cooked perfectly and the sausage was definitely homemade. The hash-browns were buttery and crispy. The biscuit may have been one of the best I've had. Gravy for the biscuit was solid. Our waitress was super efficient and very nice. There were some very neat pictures hanging on the walls of local history and the place itself looks like it used to be an old soda fountain. Loved it.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times and I've never been disappointed. Some of their menu items are truly unique, service is always good and the restaurant is always clean. Highly suggest stopping in if you're in the neighborhood it's a great place two satisfy your appetite while riding these wonderful motorcycle roads.
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
If you ride motorcycles, you've probably heard of the Ozark Cafe. Famous for the atmosphere (it's listed on the National Historic Places registry) and the burgers. I got sidetracked by the grilled cheese sandwich and was not disappointed. Regretfully, we didn't get milkshakes or pie, which is pretty much a fail on our part. Next time, I won't make that mistake. Highly recommend stopping here if you're passing through Jasper, which in itself is a cool little town.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Food was just ok. They were busy and forgot us but everyone there was really nice and did their best ti help us have a good experience. Wanted to love it but was ok
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and this was the only restaurant within driving distance. After a long day of hiking, we stopped in. Honestly, after seeing so many Confederate flags everywhere we drove and seeing motorcycles parked outside the restaurant with Confederate flags on them, we were totally on edge and worried that we'd get harassed as people of color. We found the waitstaff very friendly though and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered Ma's chicken fried chicken and it was the best fried chicken I've ever had... flavorful and not greasy with crazy good gravy. My partner got the chicken friend steak and loved it. We liked Ozark Cafe so much we came back the following day after hiking and ordered the exact same thing (this time there was a fresh salad bar and more vegetable side options). The waitstaff remembered us and we chatted with other customers during our short wait for our food. The customers were also more diverse this second time around. If you're ever visiting the Buffalo National River area, I highly recommend stopping by the quaint town of Jasper and eating at the Ozark Cafe.

Ethan Y.

Yelp
Rueben Sandwich was amazing. Shout out to all my Shmoos. Definitely recommend if you just got done camping/hiking.
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
We had a great lunch here! The waitress was very helpful and friendly. The food came out quickly and were large portions. The cafe is super cute and was open on a monday when most of the other eating options were closed. This is a very popular place to visit in Jasper so there can be large groups moving through.
google avatar

Mischel E.

Yelp
Very quaint place with great food. Perfect place to stop for a bite on our day drive exploring Arkansas.

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Went to Little Rock for work and took a nice scenic drive on my one day off. Ended up in Jasper, AR and went to the Ozark Cafe. Was very satisfied with the food and the hospitality. Ashley was the best!!
google avatar

Lindsay A.

Yelp
Recently spent 4 days in Jasper and ate here 3x's. Must eat at this historical restaurant. The staff is wonderful and everything I had was beyond delicious. Loved the charm of the building too. The chicken friend steak is a must try!
google avatar

Paula W.

Yelp
Great food and service. Had a black bean burger with curly fries. Forgot how great curly were. Ice tea was perfect. Had great flavor of fresh brewed tea. Wait staff was attentive and helpful. Two people came in to order ice cream shakes to go while I was eating my burger. The shakes were gorgeous!!! Whipped cream topping was piled high and included a cherry on top. I'm gonna have to order one of those next visit. This was not my first visit to the Ozark Cafe and certainly won't be my last. Makes the drive over from Fayetteville worth it!!
google avatar

Jenn D.

Yelp
We went for dinner (got 2 Mushroom Swiss Burgers and loaded fries. It was huge portions and wonderful. We did to go and it was super fast and easy. Also their cobbler was exceptional. Like woah. Before we left town the next day, we also got breakfast - pancakes (2 of the blueberries and one peanut butter) they were exquisite. The bacon, and sausage was good. And the pancakes were huge. Definitely go here or grab it to go. It is absolutely worth it for any meal.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Super friendly service. Priced well and affordable. Food good. We tried many items from the dinner and breakfast menu.

Jesse S.

Yelp
Best place to eat in all of Arkansas! Huge portions and excellent for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is just wonderful. It's BYOB, or wine...just ask for a styrofoam cup.
google avatar

Mehdi D.

Yelp
I enjoyed their signature Excaliburger and live music on a Saturday evening after a 9-hr ride. The breakfast was great as well. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
Historic restaurant with always predictably good food. Highly recommend it if you're ever in the area of the Buffalo River.

Markus S.

Yelp
Great food and great atmosphere. Cool Little cafe that's on National Register of Historic Places. Come hungry because it is a lot of food. Great breakfast spot.
google avatar

Sierra E.

Yelp
Visited here while in Arkansas for a wedding. This place definitely seems like a popular local spot. Keep in mind, Jasper is a dry place so no booze! We visited for lunch and the food was great. Service was even better. Obviously no fancy dishes but they do a great job with the classics.
google avatar

Austin B.

Yelp
Food here is fantastic on its own, but when you add in the great service it's over the top. We were in Jasper for a few days and tried many items, so breakfast lunch or dinner you'll be happy. Make sure you get yourself one of those great shakes! All I got pics of was the breaded pork tenderloin, but trust us it's all good.
google avatar

Shane A.

Yelp
In a little town just across the street from the court house on the square sits the Ozark Cafe; It's actually a pretty good size once you get in. It seems to be the most popular spot in Jasper because it's always busy, lots of motorcycles parked out front when we went. Probably enjoying the curvy roads and Ozark hills. There's actually a huge hill that sits right in front of the square I wish there was outside seating. Anyway the menu is very big, and can be a bit overwhelming. The prices were also a bit high I felt for the area, but they aré banking on tourism more than local business. I settled on the volcano burger because I saw it on Man vs Food. The burger doesn't come with a side and is $10!! Sure it's a good size, but I feel that's a bit steep. I don't think anything came with fries; everything seemed to be extra. The shakes and ice cream looked good, but we didn't try any all desserts were $5 or more, sides were around $2.50. All in all a bit expensive, and nothing "amazing." I think the locals stop in for desert more than dinner.
google avatar

Arina L.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time the other and I really enjoyed it. This establishment has been around since 1909. I was so intrigued by their menu. There menu was made to look like a newspaper and I thought that was totally cool! I got the fried catfish meal for dinner and it was delicious! The green beans were my favorite! The salad bar comes with all dinner entrees. I would definitely like to go back. It's worth the 1 1/2 hour drive!
