Uncover the hidden gems of Setouchi, Japan - SilverKris

"A castle-based immersive stay that recreates the daimyo lifestyle: guests receive a warrior’s welcome from samurai performers (complete with flags, horagai conch-shell trumpets and akagura dance), dine on historically accurate dishes once served to the domain’s first lord, and can spend the night in authentic castle towers or turrets for a fully staged feudal experience." - Mimi Tiu

There weren't many people the day I went here. The castle is small and has a beautiful location on top of a hill. The view from the top is beautiful. You can see the beautiful countryside.

Scenic view. There is a package entrance fee to other cultural places within walking distance. Need to drive around to find free car parking.

Surprisingly good. Only went as we were in town. Lovely views from the top of the castle and large grounds. Takes about 45 minutes to go through, worth the 550 yen (Dec 2025)

Had seen a few Japanese castles, Ozu Castle would be on my must see list. Just have a couple of hours to spare in Ozu, I went to this castle to kill time. It was a nice walk cross the river and up to the castle. Arrived before it was open and was the first visitor of the day. Nothing too special but had good views of the surroundings from the top floor of the castle.

This is a lovely Castle, with a beautiful view of the surrounds. Easy to drive to, with parking available at the bottom of the hill. Inside were dioramas of the construction process, as well as historical items.

Amazing with Sakura (cherry blossom) so many of them are the top of the castle compound and amazingly beautiful. Over looking to the entire Ozu, it’s such a nice view. There is a cafe and sitting area where can sip coffee and enjoy the great view. I think the cherry blossom is worth 3 out of 5 stars. Without it, it might just be a normal castle. (Just saying I am too much obsessed with Sakura)

It was okay. Fairly standard reconstructed castle. Compared to others around Japan I'd say it's a more faithful reconstruction, but on the downside the area around it is not that interesting and there aren't a lot of exhibits inside. The weakest of the three places you can visit on the one ticket tour of the city.

Excellent castle and staff although expect an almost ladder like climb to the upper floors. Great views of the town and surrounds. Well worth a visit to see the amazing woodworking skills in the frame of the buiding
