Our experience with P Johnson in Paddington was deeply disappointing due to poor communication, lack of transparency, and mismanagement of timelines. We were served by Zyon. We purchased a tuxedo and shirts for my partner for our wedding, expecting a smooth process. Instead, it turned into a stressful ordeal.
At the initial consultation, we were told the garments would take 3-6 weeks to arrive. However, after two months of complete silence from P Johnson, we had to follow up ourselves. Only then were we informed that due to Chinese New Year, their factory in China had been shut down for two weeks, causing delays. This was never mentioned at the time of purchase, which would have been critical information for us. Even if the tailor forgot about this downtime, a simple courtesy call or email would have sufficed—yet we heard nothing.
When we called again to check if the suit had arrived, we were assured it would be ready in one week. That week passed—still no word. Another follow-up call from us, and yet again, we were told to wait another week. By this point, we had to cancel pre-wedding dance classes and a scheduled photoshoot, losing deposit money in the process.
The suit finally arrived just one week before our wedding, forcing my partner to swap shifts at work to make the final fitting. I also had to rearrange my packed wedding preparation schedule to attend. To make matters worse, when we finally went in, the original tailor was nowhere to be seen, and we were assisted by someone else. This second tailor was good and he did no wrong, but I would have liked to have seen the original tailor to express my disappointment in person and seen some accountability.
What was supposed to be an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime fitting experience for our wedding turned into an unnecessary source of stress. My partner is relaxed and did not make a big deal of it, but many others would agree that this was very poor service if they had experienced this. The lack of accountability and professionalism from P Johnson was unacceptable. Given the poor service, the complete failure in communication, and the disruptions to our wedding plans, we would not recommend P Johnson to anyone.
