Used it as a beach club. Went when the sargazo hit hard all the coast. This place had clean ocean from floating sargazo there was places where it was in the sea floor. You can snorkel and see many fishes only (no turtles spotted or stingrays).

++: - rooms are spacious with the most stunning view on the ocean. - they clean the beach every morning. The reef to go snorkelling very close. You can just swim out and see the most amazing fish. The beach is also very quite, very few people. - we did a very late midnight check in and also stayed a little over check out time. The staff was super flexible. We could also use the beach facilities for the remainder of the day! Side notes: - the breakfast included with the stay is very limited. You can choose from a small amount of items on the menu. Food and drinks are okay, you just need some patience before it arrives. Fortunately, you have a beautiful sea to look at while you wait. - there are construction works going on, which caused some noise complaints.

Our stay was super nice, quite place, nice beach/pool for kids. breakfast was delicious. it is a perfect place if you are looking for a place to relax and tranquility (couples or family with kids). In the evening the restaurant sometimes organize a music event with bands (international or local music). i truly recommend Paamul Hotel. We loved it! Please be aware that you may consider plan for a car rental. There is no restaurants or attractions at walk distance. Taxi might be costly and time consuming. Things to improve: The reception is not 24h, most of the time there is nobody there... no phones in the room to call for support in case of needed. we didnt have any problem... but would be a nice to have. breakfast was delicious as I said, but options included in the package were limited, also only one plate per person. you cannot choose like fruits and eggs without pay extras. beach is in front of hotel. some trash on it (plastic bottles, disposables cups/cutlery/etc), staff could make a better clean of it.

Your new menu guys is absolutely terrible. All the bestsellers are gone and absolutely incomprehensible dishes have appeared, you just don't even understand what exactly you can/want to order and what they will bring to you. At the same time prices increased by 35-55%. They also want to grab 500 pesos just for you to sit in front of a ton of sargassa. So sad to see how they ruined everything great.

Don’t come! They ask you to pay 500 pesos for a bed, then for each adult they charge 500 pesos in consumption. Fair enough… service is super delayed, horrible. We had a bed in the beach and then decided to have lunch at the restaurant. Worst idea ever! No one came to our table because they didn’t know who the server from the beach was. In my opinion, that is an internal situation they need to resolve. As a paying guest I shouldn’t be worried about if my server is at the beach or at the restaurant, I should just get service. It took more than 30 minutes to get our drinks. The meal took over an hour to arrive and we had to complain. Of course, we ordered 4 fish filets and only 3 arrived. I’m still here literally waiting for my meal. It’s been a horrible experience, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Really! If I could I’d rate 0 stars I would.

Worth a day trip! It's $500 pesos per person to go and use the beach, but this roles into the bar/restaurant tab. The food and drink are a little pricey, but it's absolutely worth it to be in a place that isn't SO crowded. It's also worth the $7.50 (US) to rent some snorkel gear for a while and putter around in the water. Super fun! Grab a cab from Playa and make sure to discuss the price before you get going. There aren't taxis back, but you can hop on a small bus after a short walk to get back to Playa. Be brave and have a great day!

I cannot believe we paid over $300 a night for what should cost under $100. The view from the hotel room was very nice, that’s it.||Where to begin? We arrived and music was blasting from their restaurant. Ear plugs would not suffice. It was basically wedding music for boomers.||Everything in the room was worn. The shower door is bolted shut, so in order to turn the shower on, expect a blast in the face from whatever temperature the dial is set to. You will dread taking showers. The nozzle is military grade and splashes everywhere, just not on your body. Fortunately, they’ve drilled a hole in the tile for excess water to escape.||Speaking of escape, once you’re out of the shower, a Brillo pad for a towel awaits you. Once you’ve sanded off your memories of the shower, you might like to enjoy the ocean view from your deck!||Well, they include two chairs made of wood, which might look nice for an Instagram photo, but will cause you to lose circulation within minutes. Realizing you’ve wasted money on this view, as you can’t actually stay in the room (and there’s no food or drink delivered to your room anyway), perhaps you’ll venture to the beach or pool.||The cabanas are so crowded you’ll think you’re in a NY subway. Plus, music bleeds from the nearby restaurant, so you can forget about enjoying your audible book. The pool isn’t any better. When we described the uncomfortable deck stairs to the staff, they laughed saying “you should feel how uncomfortable the wood lounge chairs are.” Kid you not.||Oh, and the oven was full of trash.||And you’ll be stuck eating at their restaurant. We tried going to the nearby Hard Rock Cafe, turned away because we weren’t official guests. Maybe you think “no big deal, I didn’t want to leave anyway!” Us too. On our second night, the restaurant was out of fish, octopus and lobster. They had shrimp and chicken. Hope that’s what you were in the mood for.||We booked 10 days at this “resort.” This place should be your last resort. We ended up booking airbnbs in Tulume and paying for our hotel twice.

Excellent environment but the menu has deteriorated. We are our lunch and the server complained about a 15% tip and said the receipt suggested a 25% tip. How can the server demand a high tip for mediocre service?

Yelp
This is a basic/budget hotel that happens to be right on the beach, so if you want quiet and beachfront this is it. If you want amenities and hotel service, this is not it. No desk reception, no hotel guide or amenities, no person greets you at all other than a security guard at the trailer park entrance. There was maid service, but heaps of dirty towels were left all day long on the staircase. Room was okay, nothing luxurious and showing its wear, but nothing to complain about if you're not expecting anything luxurious. Television in room is smallest ever, beds were comfortable, view out room and air con were great. Don't stay here without a car for sure, as you won't be able to really have food (restaurant is not fantastic and it's the only option).

Yelp
We were so excited about this place after seeing the reviews and website. It looked gorgeous. Talk about a bait and switch. Some describe it as "quirky" but I think they mean to describe the surrounding land where ex-pats live in trailers and hang out in their little private oasis. The hotel feels like their land's soul-less counterpart, built to subsidize the rest. The beach isn't that nice or well-kept. The hotel looks nice but it's obviously cheap, fast construction. Our room was always covered in giant red ants that ate us alive, and every time we took a shower, the entire room (not just the bathroom, the ENTIRE room) got coated in a wet, humid film. We had to put towels on the ground so we didn't slip or sleep in our own filth. They also fail to mention that the restaurant on site and tiny little convenience store are the only places to get food within a 15 minute drive, so if you don't have a car you're totally screwed. The they both also have really limited hours, the food sucks and is overpriced, and they are cash only. Cash only would have been fine if there was an ATM nearby, but there aren't. In a desperate move, we begged our Chichen Itza tour guide to drive us to an ATM when we were already supposed to be on the road, just so we could pay for a meal. The office also isn't open very often, so when we tried to pay for the room they were always closed. When we finally got a hold of someone via email to PayPal the fee, they took forever to respond, then didn't tell the front gate so we were basically held hostage by the security team when we were supposed to be catching a bus to Tulum. Finally it got worked out, but was incredibly frustrating and left a really bad taste in our mouths.

Yelp
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Paamul hotel in December 2015. It was exactly what we expected - a small, simple hotel, directly on the ocean, attached to a small community of expats. - We were steps from the water. Directly outside our patio, there was too much rock and coral to walk into the water easily, but a few steps in either direction brought you to sandy entrances into the water. Bring dive shoes or water shoes because the coral/rocks are thick once you get past the immediate beach area. Snorkeling is very good - swim just a few feet from shore and see coral, fish, rays and the occasional sea turtle! There's a small reef a quick swim offshore. - The room was large, clean and comfortable. Look this isn't a 5 star hotel - but it's a great hotel for what it costs and what you get. Two queen beds (hard, as most Mexican resort beds seem to be - as the platforms are built with concrete!). The room had a small fridge, microwave and two bottles of water when we arrived (and that were replaced at least once). The bathroom was older but clean. Toilets and drains are very slow (as they were at the other Mexican house we stayed at and according to my friend - everywhere). The room has a built-in (concrete!) couch with cushions and a small desk/chair inside; outside there is a lounger and a built-in (more concrete!) couch. There are two wooden chairs that could be pulled outside. The air conditioner works well. The bathroom is not air conditioned, but was mosquito free. The room was cleaned every day and both bath towels and beach towels were provided. This room had far fewer bugs than the rental house we stayed in last year - the screens were intact. We saw some sugar ants occasionally but generally it was fairly bug-free. We used a deet just in case when we were outside ;) The pictures on the website for the hotel are accurate. - The room has a small safe to store electronics, pesos and passports. The locked patio doors on our suite could be jiggled open if you worked at it. It's a very quiet community so we absolutely never felt unsafe but I would recommend locking up your valuables. - The view from our back patio was *amazing*. The doors to the patio open the whole width of the room and you can essentially be outside in your room if you wish, with screens or without. Lots of iguanas. Palm trees provide decent shade most of the day. The hotel has two levels - all rooms have patios or balconies overlooking the water. - The Paamul beach is public - but there were no big crowds and only few folks walked the beach in front of our patio. Generally there were always a few families, couples and retirees swimming and sunbathing or playing games on the small beach, or ordering food from the restaurant from their beach chairs. There is a dive shop as well that runs dive trips. From our patio, just one unit from the end of the hotel next to the restaurant, we rarely heard any noise over the ocean. - Only 15-20 minutes from Playa Del Carmen, Paamul is *very* remote if you do not have a car. Onsite at the hotel there is a single restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a mini-mart about half-mile up the entrance road, but we never made it there. If you don't have a local friend to cart you around (as we did), you'll want to rent a car (or accept that you'll be eating in the same restaurant every day). We went into this vacation knowing what we were getting into - and were fine with the location. We basically didn't leave except with our local friends. It is possible to walk out to the highway and catch collectivos (shared vans). I think the office or security gate could probably get you a cab as well. - The restaurant is not too expensive, but definitely not cheap either. Cash only. Breakfast was included in our hotel rate - if you're buying, you'll probably spend less than 200 pesos($10)/per person. The chilaquiles were excellent and the eggs were very good. For dinner, we spent about 1650 pesos incl tip ($85) for a pretty large meal - a shrimp and avocado appetizer, chips, salsa, guacamole, several drinks, bottled water, a "cowboy" steak (which was excellently cooked and very large) and a shrimp/scallop meal in a coconut-ish sauce. All very good. You can also spend less on things like tacos (only ok), burgers and whatnot. If you have a car, you'll want to explore places in Akumal (35 - 40 min away) or Playa del Carmen. - Most employees of the hotel speak passable or good English. We don't speak Spanish at all and we had no issues. We paid the hotel via Paypal with a credit card before we arrived - half with reservation, half the day before we arrived. - The neighborhood around the hotel is primarily expats from Canada and the US. Lots of trailers and palapas. Thursday morning there was a little market with local vendors selling lots of food, handmade soaps, art and jewelry. All and all we had a marvelous vacation in tiny Paamul. We will absolutely go back.
