We did the Pacaya Volcano Luxury Sunset Horseback Riding Tour/ Dinner Cooked by-Lava Chef excursion. Overall the experience was not what we thought it would be as we have done a similar excursion in Costa Rica at arsenal volcano (minus the pizza). For us, it was overpriced and we didn't appreciate the additional messages prior to the excursion asking us to tip cowboys (we would have regardless, but felt it was uncouth) especially since it already close to $800 for the excursion. What really ruined it though was when I told the cowboys that neither I nor my husband wanted to ride the horse with the Confederate flag and were ignored. The entire duration of the trip we responded to inquiries about the flag (some laughing others shocked) and we were very upset. We did outreach to the owner and she apologized and indicated she was not aware however the flag appeared as if it had been on the horse for a while and ultimately the owner should have been aware. Overall the experience was okay, we loved the views, the pizza was okay, the driver was nice but the actual ride was ruined and it was extremely expensive... With tip close to 1k.
