The hotel was very convenient in location and the customer service was amazing!!! I loved the simplicity of it all and the rooms were very clean and we'll furnished. It was odd there was no mini fridge and the ice didn't work for the small ice bucket. We loved the coffee options in the lobby and treats. The place was quiet and it's a great place for overnight trips.

I stayed at the Pacific Blue Inn because I wanted to see a show down the street at The Catalyst and not have to drive home to SF afterward! (The shoe was The Hu - amazing band!!!) Anyway, it was the smartest thing ever! It's an easy walk to The Catalyst, and there are lots of food options nearby. My room was on the ground floor near the elevator, but it was still very quiet and peaceful! The room was very clean and comfortable, and I slept awesome. The staff was super friendly, and there was parking available. I will absolutely stay here again if I want to see shows at The Catalyst (or if I want to just visit Santa Cruz again overnight).

Wanted to like it more. The room was well furnished. The biggest issue was noise. We had normal windows but above those we had these tiny windows over 7 feet off the ground we could not shut. That means I could hear all kinds of garbage or construction trucks at 6am, a neighbor pounding on a door at 7am and another neighbor having a loud conversation in the courtyard at 8am. I had one of the worst nights of sleep I’ve ever had at a hotel or inn.

Free coffee and tea. The bed was comfortable and the room as a whole was 7/10. No tub, no refrigerator but everything else was perfect. Thank you

Terrible experience. After telling the man at the desk like 4 times that I am traveling in by uber and that I would not have a car, this man (I believe the owner or manager) STILL charged me for a car on my receipt. What's nuts about this is that if you arrive after a certain time, they just leave a bill for you because the front desk "closes." So after hours of travelling and desperate for a shower, I had to run down and try to catch him before he left, and he was annoyed and pedantic about it, acting like he definitely didn't try to slip this extra bill past me like I didn't tell him vocally and over text MULTIPLE times THAT DAY that I would NOT be parking on their property. I also physically SIGNED a paper right in front of him upon check-in boldly stating in 4 spots that I HAD NO CAR. They also charged me a "Surcharge" randomly on the bill, had I not looked with a fine-toothed comb, I wouldn't have seen it. When I asked about what the heck the random surcharge was for, he said: "A surcharge for parking." You cannot even be serious- not only did they charge me for something I didn't purchase, but he charged me a surcharge ON TOP of an incorrect charge, with no info of what it refers to. They have to manually add these charges above and beyond your hotels.com, etc. booking, so it wasn't an accident. There is also a hidden tax for "using a credit card" even if you book on a third party site site hotels.com where using a credit card is obviously necessary to pre-purchase. So, once they have your credit card for security, they cannot be trusted. Do not trust them and make sure you double and triple check your bill, even if you book on a third-party site, because they will happily try to sneak other things in. They also increased the price of the room upon check-in, compared to my third-party receipt. Crazy.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Pacific Blue Inn. My request for a ground floor room was honored. Very quiet overnight. Comfortable bed. |Only thing I think could be added is maybe a super mini fridge in the closet. We would stay again in a heartbeat. |Thank you, |Sandy

We stayed at the condo 605 Pacific. Disappointed and will not return. 2 major issues that the inn keeper didn't let us know ahead of time even though they knew about it. 1. There was supposed to be a sofa bed but it broke and they replaced it with a lumpy old sectional which was very uncomfortable and gave me backache 2. The shower water temp wasn't working, water turned ice-cold during shower 3. There was open food left in the frig which was gross. Be aware that there is no housekeeper at the condo during the entire stay.

Positive: Very well maintained, great coffee machine + carrot cake muffins :) Negative: Nothing whatsoever.

Yelp
Made reservations and let them know we would be arriving after about 7 or 8 pm. They said late check ins are no problem, we just need to call a # for entry as they lock up the lobby and leave at a certain time. We arrived and saw the paper on the front entrance with the number to call for entry.... no answer. We texted and called numerous times, all while standing outside in the dark. We never got in. Had to find a hotel last minute, which we did, thankfully! The following week, I got a text with no apology or no reason as to what happened- just a short text saying " we will refund you". Would never reserve a room here or attempt tp stay again. TERRIBLE customer service.

Yelp
My wife surprised me and booked us a trip to Santa Cruz for my 40th birthday. We stayed at the Pacific Blue In and we both really enjoyed it. The room was small, but the bed was super cozy and I really loved the bathroom with open concept shower. The room had a window AC unit and a fan, which we really didn't need because the weather in Santa Cruz is basically perfect. This hotel is within walking distance to the beach, a gorgeous wine bar, amazing local food spots, coffee shops, and downtown Santa Cruz. In fact, during our last night here we walked all over downtown Santa Cruz grabbed a drink and some ice cream and felt 100% safe doing so. They don't offer room service, as this is a very small mom and pop style hotel, but I believe they do have a kitchen? I kept smelling food, but couldn't figure out where it was coming from. The staff here is awesome and really made our trip special. My wife was able to coordinate with Alondra, in the front office, and she set up a 40th birthday surprise cake and balloons in our room before we got there. It was awesome! I can definitely see us returning to this hotel for our next Santa Cruz visit.

Yelp
I always have a great experience here. safe, clean, comfy, good people. free hot drinks and pastries. can't beat that.

Yelp
The Pacific Blue Inn was a quiet, peaceful hotel. We had very little interaction with staff, but when we did, it was pleasant. This hotel was very basic. I was disappointed to learn the rooms do not have a microwave, fridge, or coffee maker. The rooms are clean. The rooms had hardwood flooring. (which I prefer) Very little wall decor and minimal furniture made the rooms feel a little sterile. It would have been nice to have at least two chairs in the room. Our room did face a beautiful, small courtyard with two fire pits. The room we stayed in had a king bed and just enough room to park our bikes. The bathroom had a large, dated shower which felt a little dirty. I did clean the shower before using it and the rags were clean. This hotel did not provide breakfast of any kind. There was however an instant coffee machine that made a few different specialty coffees in the lobby. Parking. This hotel does not have their own parking lot. You are able to park just a little way down the street, which was a little inconvenient. We did not feel safe leaving any of our belongings in the car in the car, which means everything had to come inside with us. This hotel is within easy walking distance to some great little hole in the wall coffee shops and restaurants. It is within easy walking distance to the boardwalk as well as downtown. .

Yelp
Stayed here for a last minute getaway and was pleasantly surprised! We came late so the staff was not around, however they gave very good instructions on how to get into our room and if we needed anything to call. Super clean rooms, walkable restaurant's and had a very nice patio area. Will book again!

Ron A.

Yelp
Well what can I say, owner greeting upon check in, explained all aspects of the property and made sure we were comfortable with the room. We travel with our show dog and they assigned a ground room floor and gave suggestions of pet friendly restaurants, the property was exceptionally well done and well kept. Very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this facility..

Michi R.

Yelp
Husband and I have great memories of this place when we had our little weekend getaway. Walking distance to so many things, which we absolutely loved. The breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our stay completely. Looking forward to coming back.

Lily P.

Yelp
Some major issues during our stay, the shower temp turned ice cold with no notice, sofa bed cold and was replaced with lumpy old couch which was very uncomfortable, opened food left in frige and not cleaned out from previous occupant. Be aware that there is no housekeeping if you stay at the condo on 605 Pacific. Not a safe area, quite a few homeless and a bar with loud music into late night.

Jerry P.

Yelp
Great Inn! Super clean, the staff was wonderfully helpful to accommodate us. Our pooch was even welcomed. The courtyard was adorable and clean. We loved our little fireplace in our room. Super close to everything downtown Santa Cruz. We will be back.

Victoria G.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and room, AMAZING location, and wonderful hospitality. At night we had some deluxe hot chocolate, brownies, and all by the fire compliments of the hotel! We highly recommend! Thank you for an amazing stay!

Kirk B.

Yelp
The good: Nice rooms, friendly staff. The bad: No parking at the motel; you have to park down the street, and they charge you for parking. It's a hassle. No refrigerator or microwave in any of the rooms. They have a shared kitchen downstairs. Extremely inconvenient. No staff on site at night. Website stated there is breakfast in the morning. There was none. Not even coffee. The rooms are overpriced for what you get (and don't get). There are much better choices in Santa Cruz.

Steve S.

Yelp
We stayed here at the beginning of August on the way down from home in Ashland OR. My wife has mobility issues and requested a first floor room that was pet friendly. They said they could accommodate that so we booked the room. When we got there, the first floor room was not available, so we got a third floor room. The room was nice, no complaints there. We asked for assistance with our bags. The young lady said they couldn't help. After we left, we realized that we left our dogs bed. We called every day for a week leaving messages each time. Never got a call back. The final time, we got the lady and she said "oh, it was outside so we threw it away." What a way to treat customers. Never going back. Don't go there.

Margarita B.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay and would come back. Pros: The hotel is within walking distance to lively SC downtown, Boardwalk, and beach. Pacific Blue Inn located at the quiet end of Pacific ave. We had good night sleep. Bed waa comfortable Staff is friendly. Outdoor fire places are lovely There were fresh cookies and brownies Parking is free and only 150 ft away Cons: 7 day cancelation policy Coffee machine broke on the second d day and there was no spare Staff is not available after 5 pm Despite website pictures, there is no breakfast.

Sarah F.

Yelp
This place was really nice. Walkable to shops and restaurants. My husband loved the cookies and brownies. I enjoyed the ability to have hot water for my tea. The only thing I wish they had was a fridge in the room. A microwave would be nice too but not essential. Will come again.

Yelp
Exceeded my expectations on what an 'Inn' can offer. I'd actually never stayed at an Inn before so I didn't have any reference point. Admittedly my expectations were about as high as they'd be for say, 'La Quinta' or equivalent-- comfortable, clean, but nothing that would wow you in terms of service, amenities, or comfort. Just an okay stay that wasn't good or bad, but a place to rest your head. PBI showed extreme care from arrival to check out. Rooms and grounds were clean and tidy. Instructions for our room after hours were clear and communication was very responsive. Everyone staying here was so courteous and friendly. The bed was very comfortable (I hate super firm beds and this one was medium firm, which was a relief). Rooms were spacious enough and the location was central to most of Santa Cruz. What I really liked most was the kitchen area that has a fridge, sink, microwave, ice/water machine, and more to make the stay feel homey and accommodating. We brought our dog, who has a special diet that needs to be fridgerated, and that was available in a huge community fridge. No crappy low wattage mini fridge in the room. The 'kitchen' made it much more homey and convenient. Also it seems like they have a breakfast menu that you can order from your room, however because of COVID this wasn't available. All good, we'll be back once the pandemic is up to try it! The only gripe I can think of is the walls are slightly thinner than more modern spots. We def heard the upstairs guests walking and stomping around, but it tempered down after hours so it was a non-issue to sleep. If you have less than courteous neighbors though, I can see it being annoying. No bearing on this review, but right across the street is a Chinese food place that I would only recommend if you're hungover or suuuuuper hungry. It's not bad, but would never ever win any awards lol

Yelp
Went late last year in the off season. Very quiet, only saw one other couple with a dog. Location was great (by everything), but there is no onsite parking. You have to park in a nearby lot by a different business. You can't see your car or hear it if an alarm goes off. It's walking distance to everything. The only view is other buildings next to you. So, if you're into drinking it's perfect, no need to drive to the nearest bar. The room itself was ghetto. The shower had two sticks on the ground to separate it from the rest of the bathroom. No catch basin like a normal shower would have, so water goes everywhere. The toilet had a plunger next to it. Guess what I had to do after going # 2. The room doesn't even have a mini fridge or microwave. Considering the price we paid, would have expected one. Basically, this is great if you're young and into partying cause you don't have to drive anywhere. But if your over 25, find somewhere else to stay.

Yelp
It's a tiny inn. Staff was very friendly and welcoming when we first arrived. The room was clean, the pillows were not very great at all. But I slept well overall. There's no fridge, I kept my drinks cold with ice all night. Overall not bad for the price, im sure I paid an off season price since it was a random Wednesday night. It was close to the boardwalk and downtown.

Nick L.

Yelp
cozy place in a great location for walking to the beach attractions, just over a few streets maybe a 10 minute walk or so. The rooms are on the smaller side but it was no problem for us, we liked the feel of it. Great value for the price

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised! My usual airbnb was not available so I searched for a good hotel or Inn. This cute little place is perfectly located on Pacific Ave not far from the ocean and not far from Pacific Garden Mall downtown. Free parking is provided right next door. There are coffee shops nearby, plenty of restaurants and shopping. The Inn has a cute little lobby with books and coffee and fresh cookies or muffins. The outside patio is lovely with seating and a fire pit. The rooms were very comfortable, spacious and AC was provided. The wood floors were lovely and the bed very comfortable even for someone who has spine issues! I appreciated the hypoallergenic bedding. The bathroom was clean, had all necessities and plenty of room. I highly recommend for a short or long stay!

Andrew T.

Yelp
Affordable and comfortable place to stay. Clean rooms. Nice patio area to have a nice glass of wine in front of the fire pits. Highly recommend

Kathleen R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay at the Pacific Blue Inn! Calvin Lee, Manager provided great customer service! The location is convenient and within walking distance of downtown restaurants and the beach! I had the best nights sleep because the bed and bedding was so very comfortable and the room was quiet & charming! The room has an electric fireplace and air conditioner so I was able to set the best temperature! A big plus is that the hotel adheres to being green: nontoxic materials and a safe environment! And the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies were a nice yummy surprise!

Ruby V.

Yelp
I really hate to give this bad review because the staff was so nice & accommodating but I wish a review like this was available so that I knew to perhaps book elsewhere. At the rate I paid per night, I didn't get what I expected in return. Pros: allowed early check in, had snacks available throughout the day, the staff was very nice & welcoming, they allow dogs, right by the beach. Cons: the breakfast is pretty much a continental breakfast. I was weary about the way the food was served without tongs & how the cereal was just in a bowl with a spoon for people to serve themselves which left the food open to potentially other people touching it. They could at least invest in tongs for the bread & cereal dispensers for sanitary reason. Although I have asthma, I'm not extremely allergic to dogs. We had our two small dogs with us (they are indoor dogs and have never caused me to have an asthma attack). Well, the room I stayed in for two nights made me have extreme asthma attacks that I had a horrible time sleeping. Usually, only mold makes my asthma that bad but who knows what caused it to be that bad. We had to keep the windows open pretty much the whole time due to my asthma. My room was a designated pet room. I've traveled with my pets before and a hotel room has never made me have asthma attacks while in the room. After a while I was dreading to go back in my room because my lungs were doing so much better outdoors. It is not a quiet Inn during the day. You can hear anyone talking in the court yard pretty loudly through the windows (even when closed). So don't expect sleeping in or day naps if you're a light sleeper (like me). The bed & pillows were not comfy at all. They were too soft. Neither of them offered much support for the back or neck. Perhaps the other good reviews were in non-designated pet rooms & maybe had nicer beds, I don't know. Needless to say, we won't be staying here again.

Leisyka P.

Yelp
We arrived late and left early. Easy check in. Free parking. Excellent location, short walk to beach, boardwalk AND downtown Santa Cruz. Help is a phone call away if you have questions. Calvin was so nice and helpful. Room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Comfortable bed, great pillow selection, super clean, both heater (cute pho fire place = bonus!) and A/C fan unit. Loved the big shower! Super quiet. The communal courtyard area with fire pits (gas/electric) and comfy seating looked fun for non COVID times. Full kitchen available to all if you want to make your own coffee or food. This is a certified green business. They built this place consciously considering ways to make less impact on our planet. I LOVED this place. I will definitely be back. Thank you Calvin!

Walter D.

Yelp
Stayed one night in a nice building. However, our room was stark with no view except the courtyard. The price was outrageous for the facility. It was not worth the price. It was not worth the price. It is in a neighborhood that is not the best and had to use a parking lot 2 blocks away and still charged us for parking. Never saw anyone in the facility. Only talked on the phone. Did get a good chocolate chip cookie though. Left my wife's favorite pillow and asked to have them send it to us and they never did. Absolutely, one of the worst places I have ever stayed. Would not recommend it to anyone.

jay W.

Yelp
off site parking so you get to carry all your stuff then maybe you get lucky and get one of the rooms up stairs, rooms are small, very bright at 5:30 as the shades are useless big weird a/c in the room/window. loud you hear every door slam no sound damping. expensive expensive and nobody is even on duty at night so good luck but you can sit in the lobby and watch the local homeless people defecate in the streets!!!

Janelle O.

Yelp
Adorable little spot, tucked away off the main strip in Santa Cruz. Quiet too! Very cute rooms that seem like they were upgraded. Contactless check in was easy. Good value, comfortable bed, large bathroom, and a gas fireplace in the room. I found their offsite/close by parking easily, although it wasn't ideal to lug all my stuff to the room from there.

Francine T.

Yelp
It's a wonderful place but I checked out early in the morning I don't love no where near Santa Cruz. I call 30 minutes after I left the inn and asked if I accidentally left black boot in room ### and they said yes they are here they will would them for me. I told them I come and get them two weeks. I call two weeks later saying they are not there. SO WHAT HAPPEN TO THEM? did she steal them??

Shannon A.

Yelp
The owner was very welcoming he showed us all the amenities around the hotel. They have bikes available to use. Hotel is in a great location; walking distance to downtown area, to the boardwalk and the Wharf. The only thing that wasn't good was the room had a weird smell. Also stated breakfast is included and there was no breakfast. Overall a nice place and perfect location.

Patti M.

Yelp
I love this place! Everything was very clean and inviting. The bed was really comfortable, and I slept well. The staff and manager are wonderful. It's just a short walk up the street to downtown, and they have bikes that you can borrow to ride to the beach. Overall a very pleasant stay!

Irene C.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and super clean! It was the cutest hotel . Loved everything about it. Calvin was also super nice and friendly . Free parking nearby as well. Sadly, we were not able to wake up early enough for the free continental breakfast but there is always a baked good , lemon infused water and a wide selection of tea to choose from through the day. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back!

Tom D.

Yelp
Nice Location, but still a remarkably poor value This place is in a great location, close to the beach and on that wacky zoo known as Pacific Street. Yes, you'll find riff-raff and homeless folks ambling around the hotel, but if that bothers you then avoid the city of Santa Cruz altogether. The indigent are everywhere in SC. We've stayed here on two different weekends, but, to quote Roberto Duran, "No Mas!" The rooms were clean and cozy, the beds comfortable, and the large showers more than ample for a party. On the downside, this place may be the last hotel in America that doesn't include a mini-refrigerator in each room. Where are we supposed to store our doggy-bag leftovers? Our sodas and beer? Our medications that require refrigeration? Even the cheapest flea-bag motels put mini-fridges in their rooms -- but not the Pacific Blue Inn. Parking is problematic. Guests are to park in a lovely lot that is shared with a used car joint and an apartment building across the street. Despite the stern warning signage that all parking is reserved, the lot fills up with the vehicles of jerks who realize they won't be towed by the Pacific Blue Inn, even if they park in the lot all night long. When we returned to the hotel on a Saturday night around eight, the lot was full, relegating us to park on the street illegally and thus subject to a fine by the city of Santa Cruz. Not a comfortable feeling at all. Boy, that's some Free Parking, Pacific Blue! Lastly and most importantly, the pricing at Pacific Blue is unpredictable, other than it is always predatory. Our two stays there, both in the off-season, had incredible and shockingly differences in charges despite no difference at all in the accommodations, mediocre and usually absent front-desk service, and their tired, stale muffins. If you're in the 1% this place is reasonably priced. Otherwise, for the rest of you, bargains can be found elsewhere in Santa Cruz.

Bria E.

Yelp
We had a great stay at the Pacific Blue Inn. It's the perfect spot for a walk to the beach and a walk to downtown for restaurants and the Makers Market on Sundays. The staff were super communicative and helpful for checking in. And the room was clean and airy. We'll definitely be staying here again on our trips to Santa Cruz!

Joyce R.

Yelp
Lovely, lovely place to stay in Santa Cruz. My two boys and I stayed for two nights and enjoyed the hospitality of Calvin (who made sure we felt welcomed) and Ana who made our stay memorable. Breakfast was included and I was impressed by the quality and variety that was offered. Room was clean and nicely decorated...good value for the money. We will stay with them again next time we are in Santa Cruz!!!

M D.

Yelp
We just stayed here a few days ago and Calvin is wonderful! Very helpful and very friendly! The property is very nice as well as the rooms! The bed was very comfortable, the room was tidy, and the bathroom was gorgeous. They're doing a great job at this place. We will definitely stay here again when we come to town!

H T.

Yelp
I do not recommend this hotel. Their cancellation policy is 7 days instead of a regular 2 days, and they are totally inflexible on working with you even in the case of illness or injury and not being able to make it. I thought I had cancelled my reservation after I and called to confirm 6 days before checkin and they would not allow me to cancel even after explaining that I was injured and not able to keep the reservation. The location is not on, or even really that close to the beach either. There are many other hotels closer to the beach with more flexible cancellation policies incase something happens. The website uses the excuse of being a small hotel to have a 7 day cancellation but at almost $500 a night and no employee living on-site to accommodate guests and having to pull your room keys out of a lockbox and leave voicemails for the manager and wait until the next day for them to return your call, it's all unreasonable.

Cynthia B.

Yelp
I have stayed here on four occasions, including each of the past three summers with my senior dog. I love this little B&B. The location is prime, it's easy walking distance to both downtown and the beach. It's also a quick jaunt to West Cliff and Capitola and Hwy 17, and anywhere else local that you want to visit. It is one of the most comfortable and aesthetically pleasing places I've stayed for this money. There are only 9 guest rooms (3 per floor), so it's not crazy packed. The rooms are simple, just a main room (with bed, small desk built into wall, three small tables, two chairs, an ottoman, an electric fireplace, a portable AC unit, and a flat screen tv with DVD), and a bathroom. There's a ceiling fan with adjustable settings that I highly approve of! And if you appreciate lighting options, you'll like that there are four different lamps/overheads in the main room (three with adjustable illumination) and four options in the bathroom too. The king beds are extremely comfortable, but soft (as others have said), so if that's not your thing, be prepared. There is a sweet little courtyard with two electric fireplaces and lots of seating. I LOVE how dog friendly they are here. My dog Toby and I have always been made to feel so welcome. Breakfast is pretty simple but perfectly adequate- two choices of carb/bread, jam, yogurt, granola, and fruit. Plus tea and coffee. Tea, water, and a snack of some kind are available in (a very comfortable) lobby area 24/7. It's true that it's not the quietest place ever, but it's unrealistic to think a hotel in downtown Santa Cruz is going to be quiet. All things considered, they do very well keeping the inn insulated from most street noise. (Bear in mind, however, that as of 8/15/18, there is remodeling going on at the house that abuts the inn and there is construction noise between 8:30am and 4:30pm. However this is completely out of the hands of hotel management. You may want to call before you book to see if it's still going on.) The ceiling fan and AC keep the room cool at night, and the AC offers bonus white noise if you like that (as I do.) What else to say...the bathroom towels are very soft!! I love the shower in general. Oh and the parking is convenient and comes with the cost of the room. The person who wrote that it was dark and far away from the hotel is ridiculous. It's less than a half block and very well lit by street lamps. Yes there are indigent folks around the area (again, this is downtown Santa Cruz), but they are not a threat to security as best I can glean from my significant time spent here. I think that reviewer had a very insular frame of reference. If you are used to an all-white, wealthy, gated neighborhood, this spot might not be your style. I guess if I had one suggestion, it would be that I'd love a bathtub in some of the rooms. But honestly, for what you're paying and the location you get, this place is more than worth it. Oh and p.s. Calvin and Ana are both very nice and helpful. Thank you guys for the wonderful stays at Pacific Blue! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
His was a pretty good stay. We purposely chose to stay downtown due to us attending. A concert in the evening..we wanted something walking distance. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone just visiting to be near the beach. But if you need something in town this is probably your best bet. For the price it was good. We were able to park and check in early which was an unexpected surprise. It helped a lot. He room itself was very clean. It could use a refrigerator though. The room gets hot so just open the windows to let in some cool ocean air. The bed was very comfortable! The only downside is that for the price, breakfast should really be included. Otherwise it was what we needed and I would stay here again.

Yelp
I didn't want to give one star because the staff was friendly. ( By the way they are only there until 6 PM ) so if you need anything after that. You have to text or call them on their personal time while they are away. For Over $200/ per night on a weekday....there is NO Fridge in the room, there is NO Microwave in the room. Where we ate our dinner.. the table was super small in the room. There was only ONE Chair in the room. We had a baby with us so we have to keep his milk cold. We have to go to the "common area which the entire hotel shared ONE Fridge" are you kidding me?? The pictures looked super cool on google but I was highly disappointed when we got there. It's kinda like that fine woman you meet online and then when you meet them in person ...its all bad. It's like that. They said it was a 5 min walk to the Beach Boardwalk before I booked. That was a lie More like a 30 min. walk. Anyway, for 200 bucks a night. NO WAY EVER AGAIN. On top of that the owner is texting you at 7 in the morning on check out day to see if everything is okay. Everything is not okay because we are trying to sleep. SMH. I just left without saying a word. Horrible Managed HOTEL or they are just super cheap. Which one is it.

Yelp
NEVER STAY HERE. Better off at a Best Western or HoJos. We got a room that had an extremely strong harsh chemical smell. After trying to air out the room for 30 minutes we spoke to the lady working the front desk. She already knew meaning there had been complaints, ignored it and still assigned a room that was not fit for humans, especially those paying $250 per night. It was due to a cheap plastic wall heater they had installed that emitted this smell when operating, clearly not healthy and hazardous. She was willing to move us until she realized we had a pet. She wouldn't move us because we had already "contaminated" our room with a pet and couldn't another. This is supposedly a "pet friendly" hotel that has no amenities for pets and still thinks it's ok to charge an egregious $50 per night pet fee. Now this means we are paying $300 for an unfit smelly room that was making us nauseous with a locker room shower and ants in the bathroom. Horrible service, probably violating some health codes, putting customers lives in harmful uncomfortable conditions and charging way more than they should for what you are getting just because they can out of greed. No we will not be staying here and we do not recommend. It is amazing how guest services was literally unflinching and about these unacceptable conditions.

Yelp
Stayed for a night due to a concert at at the Catalyst located downtown is a four minute walk from the inn. You definitely get a homey feel upon entering. The inn has nine rooms total. The room features a small fireplace, portable AC unit, a king size bed, and handicap-friendly bathroom. Breakfast is included and albeit simple consists of yogurt, fruits, bread, coffee, tea, and OJ- enough to hold you until you get to brunch. It was clean and I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Such a disappointment! My parents booked 2 rooms to celebrate my 31st birthday in Santa Cruz with me and my partner. After confirming dozens of times, Pacific Blue gave my parents' room away to another customer on the day of their check-in but still had my room. The response by the manager was to act hapless and outright deny that we had a reservation despite the fact there was a charge for 2 rooms on the account, despite confirmations, & the printed receipts, and my check-in slip clearly indicating 2 rooms with 4 guests altogether. Terrible customer service, really put a major dent in my birthday. The only other available room in Santa Cruz on a weekend lacked the amenities the Pacific Blue provided. It was a terrible mistake that our room was given away but so much worse that someone would lie to our face while we had printed receipts in our hands. It was the lying and terrible handling of this mistake that we are most upset with right now.

Yelp
Perfect location with great amenities! Bikes were comfortable and access to a kitchen with appliances made it perfect for our stay!

Yelp
Spent one night here with my lady. Room was clean. modern and comfortable. Mattress was extremely comfortable. Bathroom was clean and large. Quick walk to the Wharf, Boardwalk or Downtown. Calvin was an exceptional host with great recommendations. I'll be back. I

Yelp
Outstanding place. Especially at this moment. Calvin provides awesome customer service and is very accommodating. Disregard reviews about no coffee maker etc. They have a full hostel like kitchen. Very clean and tidy.

Yelp
OVERWHELMING chemical smell when arriving no air conditioner stuffy and hot, ants every where, major construction going on right out side our windows, hair all over the shower. Looks like the remote controllers have never been wiped down thick with grime and dust. DVD player didn't work. Won't stay here again sense it's not exactly cheap and disappointing. Wouldn't recommend staying here even as a last resort.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this darling boutique hotel! The decor is cute, the outside patio come equipped with fire pits and the rooms are quite spacious. Plenty of room to do yoga in the morning! Must add that the rooms are super clean and can we talk about the beds? Omg the beds. Soooooo comfy! You can't beat the location either. Very close to all the shops/bars. If I could give more stars I would. If I ever come back to Santa Cruz, I know where I'm staying!

Yelp
Excellent inn near the heart of Santa Cruz Stayed at the PBI on a work trip and was pleasantly surprised at the experience. From the outside, the inn looks small and there is not staff available 24x7. On the positives: --The chef fit me in for breakfast after I wrote a note on the door requesting to join him. It was excellent. He's a very nice person and makes mad good pastries and egg dishes. --The bed was one of the best I've slept in... and I've stayed at a good number of hotels. Sheets are very soft, while the mattress is large and supportive. --Room was very clean. Bathroom and shower, as well. And I'm HUGE on cleanliness! --One just walks up Pacific to access the shopping, eating, and other amenities in Santa Cruz. (Discovered that Cruzio, up the street, has a co-work space that was superb to get some work done at.) --A good walk to the beach and wharf. Only knocks would be: --Parking is tricky in that it's around the block. There's a walkway to the inn between two businesses, though. --Noise travels through walls and floors a bit. I knew that my upstairs neighbors are very loving and affectionate with each other between 11 PM and 1 AM. --Don't expect an air-conditioning unit. Not really a bad thing given the weather in Santa Cruz, but a surprise for those of us who travel a bit. Definitely will look to stay at PBI again, next time we visit.

Yelp
What a charming establishment with superior hospitality. After diving into reviews all over I came across this place. Kitchen is open for you to use, room had an electric fireplace with ac and it opened to courtyard with two fireplaces. We brought our pooch as it is dog friendly and enjoyed our stay. So close to bars and restaurants and even the beach. Can't get any better then that. Comfy and cozy retreat.
