I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this was a truly disappointing experience. Despite its high ratings (9/10 on Hotels.com and 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor), this hotel fell far short of expectations. It’s advertised as a 3-star property, but in reality, it’s more like a poorly maintained motel. Here’s what we encountered:| • Dirty and Unsanitary Conditions: The floors were filthy, and the room felt unclean overall. The kettle was full of mold, and when we requested a replacement, nothing was done. The bathroom had broken tiles and mold around the tub, which was off-putting. I didn’t feel comfortable using anything in the room.| • Functional Issues: The bathtub didn’t drain, the TV wasn’t connected to the internet, and there was almost no cell service or usable WiFi. Key cards stopped working midway through our stay.| • Noisy and Uncomfortable: There’s an active train track nearby, and it’s very loud. You can also hear noise from neighboring rooms due to poor soundproofing.| • Unwelcoming Amenities: The parking is extremely tight, first come, first serve, and not guaranteed. There are no elevators, so if you’re on the upper floor, you’ll need to lug your bags up exterior stairs. There’s no restaurant, bar, gym, meeting rooms, or room service.| • Construction Mess: The parking area (not a lot) was partially taken up by rubble and work trucks from ongoing construction, which didn’t seem to be active during our stay.||The heated pool was one of the main reasons we booked, but given the state of cleanliness in the room, we didn’t feel comfortable using it.||While the location is convenient—walking distance to the beach and zoo—that’s about the only positive. This was a very low-quality experience for a premium price. We spent $500 for two nights over a holiday weekend and would have changed hotels if it weren’t for the cost and limited availability.||Save yourself the frustration and stay elsewhere. Even the Motel 6 next door seems like a better option.

The worst hotel experience of my life at this hotel. The room was ridiculously small but expensive, over $400, due to a busy weekend in SB. The TV sucked and the only thing viewable was local cable TV. Nothing else connected. The HVAC had no instructions so impossible to know how to work. The office staff came twice to help but knew almost nothing. The toilet seat was only connected by 1 bolt and not stable. The room was so small there was a bedside table on only 1 side. Bed about 3' from the door. A real low-rate experience for a premium price. I canceled the second night in the AM and asked for an adjustment to the bill. They only offered a 25% refund. Then they claimed they offered a different room but that was not true. Bottom line it SUCKED and I told them I would make my feelings known online if they didn't provide me a better refund, which they didn't.

Wanted to love this place, but in reality, its a perfect example of "you get what you pay for". We ended up here because of unforeseen travel issues and needed a place to stay with very little time to accomidate. Knowing we only needed less than 24 hours before the next destination, we decided to save a little cash and book this place. It was clearly cheaper than the rooms right on the beach, no brainer. But when arrived, though we did get good customer service, the rooms/location were clearly neglected. Bare bones linens, worn out furniture, a kitchenette with zero basics other than plastic cups. Literally not one paper towel, fork or cup was to be found. The place looked quant and cute, but even a 3 minute stroll around the premise... the management kept the bare minimum in maintenance. The doors locked, and the windows kind of worked, thats what were considering a 'win' here. Overall, it still has some charm, and is very close to to he ocean. The price is very reflective of the upkeep. The only reason I don't give it 2 stars is the staff is obviously trying hard and deserves some credit for making the stay welcoming.

Stayed here for the fifth night of an 8-night California road trip. This was the most expensive hotel of the 7 different places our party of four stayed. We stayed midweek. Some reviews note a disparity in quality between rooms that have and haven't yet been remodeled. Our party had two rooms, one remodeled and one not -- with my wife and I staying in the latter. While the flooring and some other fixtures were worn, the furnishings were comfortable and we appreciated the standalone kitchen our room had. The location was fantastic. We would recommend and visit again if we are in Santa Barbara.

Google
Vibe of hotel room didn’t match the online photos at all. The bed was comfortable & clean but other than that not much. The shower door was all moldy at bottom, there was some random mish-mosh of teas, only one little light in main room, screws in the wall where it looked like a print was supposed to be hung. Just did not feel the love - furniture was nice but they chintzed on the details. Not worth the cost of the room.

If you wanna get double charged , have a broken shower and no accommodation stay here! We booked through Airbnb received an email that our credit card was on file was charged for $500 morning of our stay also with it saying that ZERO was due upon arrival. When we arrived to Pacific Crest, we were charged $479. They stated that it was not paid for through air bnb and they needed payment upfront, although we had already received the charge from Airbnb. When I asked for an invoice she realized her 479$ mistake she said the refund would take 5 to 7 business days and they “couldn’t do anything to it go by sooner” . 2 hours into our stay the shower broke and wouldn’t not stop running. When we went to go ask for help, she proceeded to try and fix it with the screwdriver BEFORE calling maintenance .They also refused any accommodation for a room upgrade. When they saw that we were getting upset when they couldn’t accommodate us for a room upgrade after several inconveniences. We were offered a full refund only if we left IMMEDIATELY so they could “resell” the room and that’s the only way they could give us an instant refund which is ridiculous because when we were charged double previously they said that they couldn’t refund it with and it would take 5 to 7 business days but magically when we are leaving the room we’re offered a full refund .We drove two hours to stay here planed the trip and had so many inconveniences and we didn’t even end up staying, but we still have a $500 charge on Airbnb .This is the worst experience we’ve ever had and they were completely fine with us having nowhere to stay on New Year’s Eve night. Keep in mind the receptionist didn’t know what she was doing and kept having to ask for help.

Google
Awful! I had a renovated room, and it still left a lot to be desired. No place to sit other than on the bed, leaky shower head, etc. Housekeeping poor - sandy floor, no coffee in room, etc. But the worst thing was that they were doing construction on the room next door STARTING AT 7 AM! Loud music, power saws, drills, etc. I understand that they probably need to stay open under construction, but don't rent rooms that are near the construction zone! Has the potential to be a nice place, but they won't have many customers at this rate.

Nancy C

Google
I feel compelled to write a review here to warn other travelers that their photos of the room are only partially true. The hotel is actively going through a remodel, which means that if you are lucky or if you know to request in advance, you can request for a remodeled room that actually matches the pic and description. If you fail to do so, you may be victim to a bait and switch and be assigned to an older room tucked away that did not go through the remodeling process yet. The older rooms are worn down and dirty and even lacking in furniture. Not fair to advertise one type of room and then downgrade you to an older, dirtier one that has not been remodeled yet.

Juliana L.

Yelp
I haven't even checked out yet but I wanted to leave a review! Everything and everyone were outstanding! My sister and I each stayed in our own renovated rooms. They were very pretty and very clean. My room was large with a little patio, my sisters was smaller with a large shared deck and partial views of the ocean. I read sone of the bad reviews a couple of days before coming and was concerned. I called and Jamie calmed my fears in a respectful and sincere way. She was also there when I checked in and was lovely. I would 100% stay here again and recommend it.

Tracy W.

Yelp
Rooms are exactly like the photos. A clean and very spacious hotel room with very friendly and accommodating staff. The pool was heated to 80F in January! Can see East beach from the property. We enjoyed our stay. Only downside was it is a T mobile dead zone and their own internet is awful! So don't stay here if you plan on working remotely. I was not able to get anything done, but unplugging was kinda nice.

Steve M.

Yelp
Unfortunately my stay at the Pacific Crest was not the best. Although the front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming the other aspects of our stay were not as expected. The room that we booked and the one we received were not the same. There was a lack of hot water in the shower, I had to turn off the cold water and turn the hot water up all the way to get a semi hot shower. The room itself wasn't very clean when we arrived the floor was pretty dirty. Had to ask them to come and clean our room twice. For the price we paid to stay here I would look elsewhere next time.

Yelp
I stayed one night here for a quick getaway to SB. I received a couple of emails a day before welcoming me and if there was anything I needed. I requested a room on the 2nd floor which was accommodated. The day I was to arrive, they texted me to ask when I was arriving so they could get the room ready which I thought was a nice touch. When I arrived, I was checked in quickly and the gal was very friendly and very helpful. She did advise that there was construction going on and the water was going to be turned off for a while and didn't really know for how long. That would have been nice to know beforehand but not a huge deal. The room was super cute, had a beachy decor and was very clean. There was a paper on the bed explaining everything about the hotel that I needed to know along with a chocolate. Very nice touch. The hotel is in a great location, it's in a residential area and literally a couple of blocks to the beach. There is a nice grocery store within walking distance and also East Beach Tacos. There are ice & vending machines also. The pool area is nice with loungers, umbrellas and table & chairs. Unfortunately, the pool was very dirty with leaves from some recent weather but was unusable during my stay, which was a disappointment. The following morning, the pool person was there to clean it though. I would definitely stay here again when in SB.

Yelp
Room is not as advertised. They show pictures of remdodeled bathrooms and rooms but give you the crappier one. Pictures showed towels folded nicely in a fan, all the amendments there. We didnt get that at all nor even tissue paper. A king size bed is really a full size (its smaller than my queen size at home). They didnt let us know that there would be construction so you hear them work 15 ft away from your room with power tools throughout the whole day. They were moving lots of large furniture and passed our room a lot bumping into things making a lot of noise. No 24 hr concierge and they are only here a small handful of hours per day. Would not recommend this place at all. The only good thing is that there was plenty of parking on prem and on street and it was a block from the beach.

Yelp
Trust the bad reviews and DO NOT STAY HERE! We paid over $300 a night for no hot water in the shower, nobody to answer at the front desk and nobody to respond to texts messages. The bathroom door doesn't close unless you pull it up and back. The bathroom seat slides because it's not held down by ample screws. Your key card deactivates before you can walk upstairs to your room. The room has a stench. The room is advertised as a Queen bed, but it's really a full size bed. Esmeralda is a bitch. Her response was, "well nobody else complained and maintenance checked for issues and we found none." Basically an F U/tough luck. Now I'm reading previous reviews that plenty of ppl are having issues with the hot water in the shower. I've waited over a week for corporate to get back to me, there has been no response. I called the hotel back 10 days later and spoke to Esmeralda and once again she was a bitch. Victim blaming again and told me that she she'll tell corporate to not consider compensation because I told her she was victim blaming. She wouldn't provide me with a number to corporate. Don't stay here

Yelp
We rented the suite which is the largest room. It was over $1000 for 2 nights. Huge, beautiful kitchen with absolutely nothing in it and nowhere to sit. No utensils, dishware, pots or pans, not even soap for the sink. Nothing. I've never stayed in a hotel with a kitchen where nothing was provided to use it. I asked about it and they said they had no plans to stock the kitchen. So I guess you'd need to bring your own pots and pans, etc. No kitchen table, just an extremely large island that you can't sit and eat on. No coffee table and one of the couch cushions was missing. Weird and a rip off.

Yelp
Checked in and the king we paid for was a queen. Moved to a room with a king, moved our luggage over and went out for the day and when we got back our room key did not work. We called the emergency number and we waited an hour just to get a call back then waited another hour for someone to show up. What a joke. Would not stay here ever again, they didn't even seem sorry. Just full of excuses

Kassandra G.

Yelp
We were locked out of our room from 9:45pm until after midnight. The after hour emergency number is a joke and the guy who answered said he was in San Diego so that doesn't help us being in Santa Barbara. It took over 2 hours to get into our room as the manager Esmeralda didn't want to drive so far to let us in even though none of the master lock keys worked. We tried 6 master keys to get into our room & none of them worked. We were made to feel stupid and were asked if we are using the key card correctly?? Excuse me!! Now she won't refund us & said she would reach out to corporate for credit. She never called as promised and and now I have to reach out to them. Was given an email address. Now I wait and see if they make this right!! Don't stay here!!

james p.

Yelp
Full size beds listed as queen size. Mgmt very unresponsive, corporate unresponsive, can't even leave VM on corporate phones. Never again

Nancy C.

Yelp
Room is absolutely not as advertised. My room was the dumpiest room in the entire building. There wasn't even a chair or desk in my room. The towels had stains on them and the floor was dirty. There may be some rooms that are remodeled, but most definitely not the one I stayed in. 100% not worth the over $300 a night that I paid to stay. I honestly think the motel 6 would have probably been a cleaner experience than what I had. Sadly cannot recommend to anyone else. Maybe after all the rooms are properly remodeled.

Keri M.

Yelp
Made a reservation for on night (Sunday) so I didn't have to drive home after a concert. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The location nice. The pool area looked good. The noise level was TERRIBLE. There seemed to be construction going on in the two rooms next to me. Workers were renovating until at least 11pm. So inconsiderate. Lots of talking too. The office should have made guests aware that work would be going on long after sunset. In addition I needed ice and the machine was broken. Would not recommend.

Graciela G.

Yelp
Stayed here for my birthday weekend very nice hotel staff was super nice I was late for check in and they let me do a late check in. rooms where clean and spacious. I definitely would recommend this hotel for a quick getaway.

Thania M.

Yelp
The pool was Amazing it was warm! Most pools even when I call or it states online the pools are not heated! The beach was near by. The staff was very helpful. Room was clean and definitely will be returning!

Mr E.

Yelp
1. This is NOT a luxury hotel. It is a very pleasant, peaceful boutique hotel that has been lovingly cared for. 2. This is owned/managed by humans and not a corporation. It is NOT a party venue. It is NOT a place where you can check in after nine. So don't mess around all day in Solvang an expect to arrive late. It isn't happening. The decor is great. The room is clean. The pool is clean. The attentive service is great. Establish a good texting relationship with the owner and all your needs are met. Even when my friend thought he had lost his key, after checkout, they did a thorough search for us. (We found it at the next hotel instead.). It is convenient to the city bus (6 dollar all day pass), and of course there is Lyft. It is quiet, peaceful, and thoroughly enjoyable. I will definitely go back whenever I return to Santa Barbara.

Lorrin M.

Yelp
Had a lovely stay at the Pacific Crest. The room was good sized, well decorated, with just the right touches. The bed, linens, & pillows have us shopping for our own home - they were that comfortable. The location was unbeatable; just 3/4 block from the smooth, silky sands of a beautiful Santa Barbara beach and a 10 minute drive to State Street and it's wide variety of entertainment and food offerings. The owner, Greg, made us feel welcome and went out of his way to provide recommendations. If we plan another trip to the area the Pacific Crest will definitely be our go to destination.

Lisa H.

Yelp
The room was huge, nice and clean. The bed was super comfortable with nice linens. it's well stocked with a teapot, coffee maker, coffee, and teas. Great location and the kids really enjoyed the pool. I can't say enough about the helpful, friendly staff. We will definitely stay there again.

Karen B.

Yelp
The photographer for this hotel is amazing. There aren't any ocean view rooms. The building is located behind other hotels. Don't pay the price for something they can not offer. The women working at the front desk were very nice.

Nicola B.

Yelp
I usually visit Santa Barbara a couple of times a year. Since my first stay here in 2017, it's become the go-to. It's family owned and operated, Greg and Jennifer are always around on the property. They're very kind and started to remember my husband and me after we started to make regular visits. The property is very well maintained, comfortable, and has free parking and all the amenities we could need. They'd refurbished it shortly before I first visited and almost every time I've been back they've made some improvement like a new water heater or new sheets. I've never had a single issue staying here. The location is great, too - it's only a block from the beach and a mile or so from State Street. They're on a few hotel websites but I prefer to book on their website. They're quick to confirm bookings and send information, and they also follow up on the day you're checking in to make sure they'll be there to greet you. Since COVID, they've been following guidance on shelter in place and been closed when it's mandated. I've visited twice in the past year (when shelter in place was not in effect) and they've done everything they can to make everything safe. It's kind of bare bones but all in the name of following guidelines. The owners wear masks on the property, they're only in rooms to clean them, and it's quiet. Although they can't serve breakfast, the heated pool is open, and there's coffee in the bedrooms along with the offer of freshly brewed coffee downstairs in the morning. Greg also mentioned to us that they'd recently upgraded the bedding, and it was indeed even more comfortable than our last visit. It's a wonderful place to stay and venture out from. It's a shame to see it so quiet here but they're doing a great job and I'm looking forward to seeing the place full of life again.

DIANA T.

Yelp
You're greeted by two of the loveliest couple in the office. Greg and Jennifer definitely have great vibes and super chill people. They totally made me feel VIP upon checking in. They upgraded me to a private room with two beds instead of one!! The room look just like the pictures. That bed though... It's a bed you can stay in all day!!! Super quiet throughout my stay. Extremely close to the beach and other tourists attractions. Greg also makes a great coffee brew in the morning! Parking is on-site and free. Free WiFi. It's everything you need for a vacation. Warning: there is no 24/7 front desk service. So if you're needy, this is not the place for you.

Tara T.

Yelp
Words cannot describe how satisfied I am with this hotel. I'm contemplating a description to put together to show my utter satisfaction, my stay here was just so amazing. Being very indecisive with hotels and having researched my options in the area for days, in the end I am happy with my decision. When I finally arrived on a beautiful, sunny afternoon, I parallel parked outside the main office on a one-way street and walked through the front door where I was greeted by a man in a uniformed polo shirt. He said I was a little early and asked a lady around the corner if Room #16 was ready. Come to find out she is his wife and they run the hotel together, she was wearing the same shirt. The hotel has been in his family since the 1970's. He walked me to my room, showed me around, let me in on minor details/things I should know then he was on his way. I immediately walked down to the ocean since it was right across the street. When I came back to my room I showered in the lovely, yet small bathroom and got ready for the concert I was attending at the Santa Barbara Bowl just up the street. When I got back from the concert that evening, the pool was lit up in a magnificent blue. I sat on a lounge chair for a few minutes to breathe in the California air. I slept wonderfully that night, went for a long run on the beach in the morning and ate the complimentary breakfast by the pool. I will definitely, hands down, stay here again. I HIGHLY suggest giving business to the Pacific Crest Hotel Santa Barbara,

Melinda B.

Yelp
This beautiful little gem is in the perfect location. Walking distance to the beach (2 minutes) and close to restaurants. You can walk everywhere! The rooms are beautiful and clean. This is spaekling clean property with a heated pool. And the hotel staff are so welcoming and incredibly friendly! I will definitely be back!!!!

Erin S.

Yelp
We booked this last minute through Expedia for the same day. After confirming, the hotel asked for our personal email and among many other things, mentioned that 9pm was the last check in time with no after desk hours options. I've never seen that in my life. We immediately called and left them a message. They texted us back and told us to deal with Expedia. We did and Expedia tried to contact them several times with no answer. They then texted us that Expedia had to approve it, not them. We let Expedia know and the hotel still would not respond. They hotel owner then called my husband and told him to stop texting??(they were the ones who texted, we originally called) and rudely told him that because of the annoyance they would not refund us and started yelling at my husband. They said we had to call Expedia. So we did. Expedia finally got through to them and the owners said "too bad we have their money and we are not refunding it"

Salvatore C.

Yelp
Love this place, food, drinks and fantastic service! We love coming here and getting away to play. Highly recommend this place!! We will be back very soon!!

Mary M.

Yelp
Great place to stay. Comfortable bed. Quiet room. Immaculate. Great pool. Owner, Greg, is very friendly and will recommend excellent restaurants. I would certainly stay here again.

Yelp
Very unethical people. Expedia does not show anywhere that there would be no checking after 9:00. I booked it for my friend who arrived at 11:20 p.m. and we ended up searching for another accommodation until 3:00 a.m. DO NOT STAY THERE.

Troy H.

Yelp
I had reserved a room for one night. On my drive up to Santa Barbara I got a flat tire on the freeway 100 miles away. Check-in time was 3pm, I called Pacific Crest Hotel before the 3pm check-in time and explained that I had a flat tire and would not be able to make it. The person at the hotel said that we'd have to get a refund by calling Orbitz and then have them call the hotel back. I worked with Orbitz - they were extremely helpful - and Orbitz rep said they'd give a refund if the hotel would approve. While I was on the phone w/ the Orbitz representative, they called the hotel (this was around 4pm the same day) - the person at the hotel said that the manager wasn't available and to call back later. In the end, Orbitz could not get them to respond with any sort of refund or credit at all. Come on, it's December 26 and the hotel was not sold out and it was not a "high season" week. Pacific Crest Hotel just took my money even though there was no way I could get there due to circumstances beyond my control.

Audrey F.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about my stay here, so I'll bullet point why I loved my stay here so much. - It's steps away from East Beach and only a mile away from the Funk Zone, making it conveniently located for everything you could want to do. - The owners, Jennifer and Greg, are very thoughtful and take great care of you. - Jennifer bakes a delicious breakfast every morning, using fresh ingredients from their garden. - My room felt incredibly clean! I work in the hospitality industry and I was even surprised at how clean my room felt. - They try to make their hotel as eco-friendly as possible from growing their own ingredients to using shampoos in paper packaging. - The owners have both lived in SB a long time, so they gave us many recommendations for where to eat and what to do. The first thing Greg asked me was if I had planned out my trip there. If not, he was going to sit down and help me make a schedule. Overall, wonderful experience and 10/10 would recommend it to anyone looking for a cute and clean hotel!

Maria E.

Yelp
This is such an awesome hotel. Is it the fanciest hotel I've stayed at? No. Is the service amazing and personal? Heck yes. **Please note that their check-in hours are limited and the lobby closes at 9pm. Plan accordingly** SERVICE: Superb. From the moment I booked. I booked via Hotels dot com and received a text the next day (not automated) to obtain my email. They also texted on the arrival day to inform me regarding their check-in hours. The front desk receptionist (Kelly) was super friendly and informative. She took the time to give us all the information we needed in regards to our stay. She even walked us to our room and gave us a little tour of the grounds. The owner was also nearby and he was wonderful as well. Asked us if we needed anything, offered recommendations on places to eat, and took/emailed a photo of us by the pool. ROOM: Very clean and cozy. The bed was clean and super comfortable. Clean shower/bathroom as well with ample hygiene products. POOL: Great pool. HEATED!!! Deep too. They have towels available. PARKING: They have covered as well as open spots. Not a huge amount but we had no problem finding parking. There was street parking as well. BREAKFAST: It's not anything huge but we were warned of that. Just a bite to get you started. Try and get there early as the eggs were gone when we arrived. It's just a few pastries, cheese, salami, bread/butter, coffee. Not sure if they refill regularly or not. LOCATION: You can see the ocean. Short drive to Stearn's Wharf/State Street. Thank you for a great stay!!

Yelp
I couldn't agree more with all the positives here. The owners are friendly and will strike up a conversation with you. The hotel grounds are well maintained. Ample free parking. The room itself is clean, quaint and a wonderful beach decor. Perfect location only blocks from beach. Make sure you try the coffee at the front desk

Yelp
Great location and such friendly staff. I highly recommend the second floor rooms w two beds. The room was spacious and clean. Loved the furniture and decor. The pool was lovely and only one household at a time. Location- close to the beach and parking was easy.

Yelp
My husband and I came here to celebrate my bday and this hotel was just perfect for the both of us. It's cozy and cute. The owners are very nice and the fact that free parking and breakfast were included in our stay made it even better. One of the owners, Greg, greeted us on both mornings that we went down to have breakfast. They live onsite and were always available if we ever needed them. Our room was very clean, updated, and all the furniture was pretty modern. The hotel is situated just a block, maybe even closer, to the beach and about a mile away from the restaurants. If we ever decide to make another trip out here, we will definitely be booking a room at this hotel.

Yelp
We needed a place for the day since we weren't gonna be in SB past 11pm. being close to the beach, the room rate was decent. I booked and PAID for the room and when we got there at 3pm the owner said we would be better off at the motel 6 because he would prefer us not being there unless we paid in cash since it would be a waste of time not having us stay overnight. Save your money and just go to The Playa Inn, way better service and nicer place for your money.

Yelp
Everything about the hotel was great except for 1 big thing and 1 minor. Starting off with the good- Check in was good.. came in about 30 min early at 2:30pm and they were unfortunately unable to accommodate but oh well, checked out a taco place nearby. Kelly was really nice and showed us the popular places on the map! She even walked us to the room and showed us around. The room was nice and clean no complaints. Simple and nice! Small but nothing bad. The minor problem was that the restroom was very small... looks like they can definitely upgrade, but at least it was clean. The big complaint came the next morning when we were all sleeping, we hear this hard knock on the door. Not gentle but super aggressive (kind of like on TV when cops visit a suspects house minus the "Open up LAPD")... We were shocked because we weren't expecting anything and then "do not disturb sign" was up. Waited a minute or 2 and they knock again! hard! ugh. Looked out the peephole and see housekeeping......... WHY. WHY. WHY knock so hard on a door that says do not disturb! especially when we are staying 1 more night!! It was probably 10am. ahhhhhh ruined the morning. Definitely a teaching point to the housekeeping staff. The crazy thing is.... it happened the next morning too. Obviously they do this to each room no matter what the door sign says. Please please fix this! At least knock softly and say "housekeeping". Meh I don't know..... I saw the cutest thing ever the last night! There were 2 ducks swimming in the pool... a couple Haha. Apparently no chemicals are added so they do that time to time! So cute! BTW loved how there was plenty of parking! That was the main reason we chose this establishment.

Yelp
I love this. Their check in time is 3-9 pm. The web site states to contact them if you'll arrive later than 9 so they may accommodate your arrival time. I call and get Kelly. She says they would just prefer that I find another hotel because in her words "I'm not going to stay up for that." Gotta say wow. It must be nice to contradict your own web site and have so many customers so that you can turn them away at will, especially during winter time/off season. Good to know that's the level of customer service and appreciation you can expect. Thanks, Kelly, I did indeed cancel my reservation online.

Yelp
The Pacific Crest Hotel is such a great place to stay! It is super clean and quiet; it is very reasonably priced and only two blocks from the beach. Avoid the overpriced chains, and try this family owned and operated hotel.

Yelp
This hotel is 5 stars. The owner Greg and Jennifer are very nice and helpful. You should ask any questions and they will give you all you need. The room is clean and nice pool. You will enjoy Santa Barbara with staying this hotel!!

Yelp
We can't say enough positive things about our experience at Pacific Crest Hotel. The location is perfect, the rooms are clean and modern, but most of all, the ownership is on-site, friendly and welcoming. At first when we passed other modern hotels and pulled up in front of what was once an older style motel design layout, we thought... "Did we make the right decision here?" But then again, how could 5 stars on TripAdvisor from nearly all 100 reviewers (to date) lead us astray? The hotel is clean, modern contemporary and 100% updated, no joke, no exaggeration. We were welcomed by one of the owners, Jennifer. The lobby was fresh and bright and overlooks the pool (which is kept at 85* and is clean as well). Jennifer was so welcoming, so warm and inviting. We had received a welcome text message earlier in the day to plan our arrival, inviting us to call or text with questions or if they could help before our arrival. Once we met, she showed us to our room, explained the functions of the HVAC system, showed us where ice and sodas were, where breakfast was served and offered to make any reservations we wanted or provide any advice on things to do, places to go or restaurants to eat out. (Side note, we did take her and Greg's advice and had a great dinner too!). The hotel rooms are modern, with flat screen TV, coffee maker with delicious Santa Barbara local coffee, water bottles, maps and things to do, as well as a fun pink salt rock lamp. Hard wood floors, super comfortable bed and bedding, and easy to use and accurate heating and cooling system. Completely redone from the ground up. Parking was on site and easy, they monitor the lot to make sure people don't park there for the beach, which can we say is SOOO close! There are chairs on the top level to sit and watch the water, which is visible as they are only a block or so off the water. It was a 3 minute walk to the beach, and they offered us beach towels for that or the pool whenever we wanted. Breakfast was complimentary and HOMEMADE. No joke. The day we were there they had made some wonderful pound cake, an egg casserole dish, had other cake options and even (gasp) brownie options for breakfast. Coffee was fresh brewed and waiting. Upon checking out, Jennifer and Greg were genuinely concerned if they could do anything else to help us or get for us before we left to make sure we were comfortable as our travel continued in CA. We left understanding in such great detail why this is the #1 rated hotel in Santa Barbara. Don't let the outside fool you, this is a modern masterpiece with wonderfully sweet and attentive owners that are genuinely dedicated to their investment, and home being your home away from home too. In summary: - Great location (1 block from the beach) - Free parking - Free Wi-Fi (was fast too) - Homemade Breakfast - Great cable and flat screen TV - Comfortable room, bed and bedding - Amazing owners - Clean all around - Pool on-site at 85 degrees - Very reasonable room rates - Everything you need to have fun in Santa Barbara starts here!

Yelp
First LeeAnn says, "we are staying at some chi chi bed and breakfast in Santa Barbara for our anniversary...and it costs 10,000 billion dollars a night...ok?" I swallow my gum and wonder what she is imbibing. Not like her to pull out stops we don't even have for just one night. After a while, she rethinks it (no input from me, I'm easy peasy) and does some research...discovering the Pacific Crest. One look and we are hooked...old school charm, modern look, convenient location, easy on the budget. All around winner! What we loved was that this location was one of those old school 50s Motor Lodges (motel)...the classic "u" shape, 2 story set-up with a pool in the middle. It was recently renovated into a more upscale, boutique hotel, with the same Melrose Place feel but much cooler looking. The rooms are smallish, but that is what makes the place romantic. We had one of the end rooms, with an ocean view, and were rewarded with a sitting area right outside our door. Loved it! The bed was really comfy and the closet was a nice, open area that could be used as a changing room... Greg and Jennifer, the inn-keepers, were so nice and accommodating...whether it was a phone call before check in to confirm time...to texting us directions so we didn't get lost...to setting up a driver for our dinner that night, so we could arrive in style (thanks Ali and your stylin' black on black Porsche Cayenne) and not worry about having too much wine. And DO NOT forget to stick around in the morning for the continental breakfast. YUM! All homemade...fritatta...brownies...banana cake...buttermilk biscuits. Add to it the delicious fresh meats like pancetta and salami...all of it was so good. And filling! We will be back...save us room #25 again, Greg!

Yelp
I stayed at this lovely hotel overnight with my family during our road trip to LA. The place was clean, comfortable and a very short walk to the beautiful beach nearby. The hotel is also located very close to Convivo restaurant where we had a great dinner. As others have stated, the biggest draw of the place are the owners. They were so friendly and really did their best to make our stay pleasant. They even gave us recommendations for places to eat and things to do that were perfect for us. We look forward to visiting again during future trips.

Yelp
Absolutely thrilled to have found this spot. Just steps away from the beach. The room was extremely upscale super clean modern. Loved everything about the stay here. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving 1 star is I can't give a 0. The owner actually cancelled a fully paid reservation on us on a busy weekend & never reimbursed the amount that I didn't stay with them although he made a verbal promise that he would. Details: The owner charged me 422 dollars for one room per day for 2 days (844 dollars in total) that I did NOT stay at the motel. This is because my plans changed - I didn't realize that expedia had booked a king bed room for just one person. My wife and my 5 year old decided to join me for the conference. The owner wouldn't allow them to stay with me in a king room (which most other hotels on planet earth do with a nominal additional charge). Instead of working with me on my plan change, the owner ejected me and my family from the premises on a busy weekend in Santa Barbara on premises of fire safety - the most ridiculous thing that I've heard. Both my wife and I requested multiple times to work with us to move to a different room or an upgrade in the same hotel, but the owner said the hotel was full. I'm not too sure about it either because I didn't see too many people around at the hotel. I didn't have a car rented so had to make immediate booking to another hotel (Lavender Inn by the sea) in Santa Barbara and Uber my way there. Note: Lavender Inn by the sea - hotel allowed all 3 of us in one king bed room in Santa Barbara (about 650 dollars for the same 2 days). I'm really grateful to them for accommodating us at the very last minute. They definitely made this weekend getaway a lot less stressful for us. After leaving the hotel, I asked the owner to at least reimburse me for the 2 nights that I didn't stay to which the owner said that he'll try to reimburse me for the room for the 2 nights. He did NOT! I usually spend at least 4-6 weeks of vacation days a year and stay at many boutique hotels in multiple states/countries. I have never received such a treatment from another hotel owner/manager. Can't be sure if the owner had a thing against expedia (style booking) or people from northeast or people of my race/origin or people with family.

Yelp
I called the hotel because i was having a hard time with expedia making the reservation. I spoke to Gregg the owner and he was very helpful and was sorry I was having a difficult time to book. I booked for 3 days 2 nights and he gave me a discount for the room with a ocean view. The day we arrived he greet it us with a smile he even helped us with our luggage. I asked for recommendations on where to eat and what to do. He recommended great places to eat and to do. He even made reservations for us. The stay was unbelievable, the rooms were super clean the bed and pillows were super nice, the pool was heated and it was perfect, the breakfast was also great with fresh coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit and pastries. It was an overall great experience with gregg and jeniffer such nice people that own and manage the hotel . My girlfriend and I were really happy that we stayed here.

Yelp
Wow. A bout of insomnia and found myself back here. Things have changed since Jennifer and Greg took over and I'm sorry I hadn't updated sooner! It's like visit family each year we've stayed since the new ownership and looking forward to going back.

Yelp
This place is near and dear to our heart and will always get 5 stars just because what it represents for us. It's a small and quaint little place with super friendly owners and staff. Delish gourmet snacks and coffee for breakfast. Awesome pool area in the center of the hotel. We will be coming back here forever.....

Yelp
Selfishly I don't want to write about how wonderful the Pacific Crest Hotel was! Selfishly, I'm afraid that the rest of the world will experience a stay at the Pacific Crest Hotel thus making it harder for me to stay on my next trip to Santa Barbara! This place is not only one block from the beach (and you can see the ocean from the hotel) but also close to State Street and everything else you hope to visit in Santa Barbara. The rooms felt homey, clean, and made us feel like we were staying in someone's home. Though it is a hotel it didn't feel like it! The owners, Jennifer and Greg are always on property, great to talk with, and have suggestions about SB! Jennifer provides a homemade breakfast each morning! Oatmeal, omelette "bars", coffee cakes, fruits and other morning treats were provided each morning. Loved our visit and can't wait to come back and stay at the Pacific Crest.
